Chapter Eight
The next day Serena looks at the map of the Digital World and her curses wake up the males of the Ishida household. Matt joins her in this when he sees what had set her off, " Damn, what did Ken do, move to the Digital World to erect that many Control Spires? " Matt mutters.
" Unfortunately, yes, dammit, I was hoping that path wouldn't be taken by Kenny boy. " Serena mutters, " At least there's no school today. Tell the others, Viximon and I are going. The more towers we can knock down, the better. "
Serena and Viximon were gone, leaving Matt to tell the others about this latest development. Serena armor digivolves Renamon and soon Juéxīnmon immediately starts in on destroying the Control Spires while Serena deals with the controlled digimon. Soon the digidestined were taking back the sectors with Izzy and Tentomon coordinating. Mimi joined up with Serena along with a digidestined she met in America, Michael Barton and his partner Betamon. Each group was taking down ten towers in an hour, Tai and Kari, Matt and TK, Yolei and Sora, Cody and Joe, Davis was on his own as well.
" Basically we're taking down as many of these spires as we can, right? " Michael asks.
" That's right, they send power to the black rings that control the digimon and stop normal digivolution unless I happen to be nearby with my crest of Determination, which overpowers Kenny boy's dark D-3. " Serena states.
Betamon and Palmon digivolve and they start going to town on the rings and control spires. In his base Ken is seething, he hadn't thought that they would launch a counter offensive against him and he could never catch that damn Tentomon either. All the digidestines took their partners home with them to keep him from getting them. His worthy adversary and his second in command were both thorns in his side. The girl had noticed his takeover first and had the others alerted while she headed in to start taking out his Control Spires. Things were not going well for him at this juncture in time.
Davis, while Flamedramon is busy destroying towers, is hunting for food so he could keep his partner and himself fed, that way they could keep going a lot longer. He hoped the others were thinking the same way, otherwise this would be a very short offensive. They were coordinating from the Ishida place, Hiroaki having a rare day off had volunteered to alibi them with the other parents, plus he had said he would have takeout ready as well, though they would have to stagger the times everyone left, they had to take back a lot more than what the Emperor took. Davis wasn't going to be content with this one Spire a day crap anymore, they had to do much more. Thankfully all of the older kids had been available for this because he knew damn well that when Yolei saw him she'd be bitching at him.
He had already told Yolei this wasn't a game, yet she still hadn't fully grasped the concept yet. What would it take for her to realize that this was serious and that she needed to shape up. He tosses his partner a bunch of bananas and eats another bunch himself. Matt, TK, Pegasusmon and WereGarurumon were tearing through their opposition and Control Spires like it was nothing. " I'm just glad that nee-chan noticed this as soon as she did, we had to make a strong counter offensive. " TK says.
" I know, I'm glad she's Davis' second as she will keep the rest of you in line and unlike me she doesn't doubt in Davis' ability to lead. " Matt says.
" Yolei does, even after nee-chan and Davis went off on her when Mimi came to visit. Hell, she even privately told me off when I started to think I knew best, though we all got it when we went to save Gabumon, I can't believe none of us other than Davis thought to launch an aerial offensive. " TK admits.
" Apparently we need to drag Yolei to an all digidestined meeting where she can hear Tai's reason's for naming Davis leader. " Matt says.
" I doubt it will work, Yolei is dead set on not listening to Davis and one of these days it will backfire on her, big time. " TK says as they take out another spire.
Serena rolls her shoulders as she dives into another fight with Togemon and Seadramon backing her up, Juéxīnmon would take out the Spires while they dealt with the cannon fodder. Togemon's Needle Spray went a long way towards destroying the black rings. Back at the Ishida apartment Izzy's eyes widen, he had finally finished his analysis of the ring Davis and Flamedramon had brought him. Their composition was the same as the Black Gears, which meant the older model digivices could destroy them. Of course, he now had to find a way to reprogram them, but maybe he could also find a way for the D-3's to jam Ken's signal and even the playing field.
He had been surprised by Mimi bringing in another digidestined with her, but, hell, they needed all the help they could get. Still did, this was going to be a long war, and yes, it was a war. He wondered idly how many of the younger kids had realized that. Back with Serena and her group the twelve year old is currently swearing up a storm, Ken had sent reinforcements to this area. Her crest starts to glow and Mimi's digivice starts to vibrate and glow green and red, " Togemon digivolve to… Lilymon! "
" Seadramon digivolve to… MegaSeadramon! "
With her sapphire eyes narrowed Serena lays out the plan of assault, no way in hell was she going to get outmaneuvered by puppet boy. Ken curses when the two Ultimates emerge in battle. That Crest of Determination was going to be a royal headache for him, as that girl just did not know when to quit. He curses again when he realizes his worthy adversary had taken back twenty sectors on his own, how was he supposed to take over the Digital World in peace when these digidestined just refused to leave him alone.
In another sector he watches as MetalGreymon and Angewomon tears through his ranks and then his eyes widen as his black rings start to get destroyed. How was that possible, by a mere outdated digivice, preposterous. Indeed, Izzy had sent the message to all of his friends via D-Terminal and they had taken the message to heart. Tai was aiming his digivice at every black ring he could while the digimon took out the spires and other black rings, though Kari was doing the same as hers had just been upgraded along with TK's.
By the time they all leave for dinner they had cleared one thousand sectors between them, Michael had come back with them along with Mimi, they needed to have a serious meeting. Matt pulls Tai aside and reveals what TK had told him, the elder goggle head's eyes narrow and he sighs before calling the meeting to order, Hiroaki had ordered pizza, one hundred larges, knowing the appetites of the humans and digimon involved, " It has been brought to my attention that someone refuses to acknowledge Davis as the leader of the second team. I will now go over my reasons for naming him leader once again and there had better not be any more problems or a certain D-3 will be confiscated until someone shapes up. " Tai says.
Yolei gulps, she knew that was directed towards her and she could suddenly see why Tai had been the leader of his group. " Davis is the leader because he can and will make the hard decisions, he won't just run from a fight when the going gets tough, this is a war, you can't get anywhere if you retreat all the time, and most importantly he goes with his gut. " Tai says.
" What does that have to do with anything? " Yolei demands.
" A good leader relies on instinct not just facts and figures, plus a good leader knows how to use his people. It's why I had Izzy coordinate, though we did bring Tentomon back with us, having no other choice. Serena can read Davis so she knows what he wants her to do without him having to say so. " Tai says, he honestly couldn't believe Digiworld had chosen this girl.
" A good leader knows when the right time to retreat is, you can't just run because you're scared, you have a responsibility to live up to Inoue-san. " Serena says.
Davis smirks, Serena was speaking from personal experience with that, as she had been the leader of the Sailor Scouts. " Oh, guys, the middle school is getting a new counselor, a Meiou Setsuna I believe. " Sora speaks up.
" How do you know, Sora? " Tai asks.
" I overheard Mr. Fujiyama speaking about it to another teacher. " Sora answers.
" Meiou Setsuna, are you sure about that name? " Serena asks.
" Yeah, I am, why? "
" I think I'll take a page out of Ken's book and go live in Digiworld. " Serena says, banging her head on the table, why was her luck always like this?
Davis' eyes narrow, " Which one is she, Serena? "
" Time/space. " Serena answers.
" Dammit, this could get ugly, fast. " Davis murmurs.
Matt looks at them along with his father, " What does that mean? "
" Serena remembered not too long ago, she cannot be seen by Setsuna in any way, shape, or form, at all. " Davis says.
" Why? " Kari asks.
Serena takes a break from her head banging, " Because that bitch is one of the ones whom nearly killed me, I was in a seven on one fight, I got run through by Tuxedo Kamen and Sailor Uranus. I am in fact Sailor Moon, they turned on me, I was doing well until Cape boy entered the fight. If not for Sailor Galaxia I would have died that day, instead she saved me and de-aged me to nine, to give a chance to have a happy childhood, which I got, so thank you for that, Tsukino Usagi's life sucked, being an undiagnosed ADHD made my home life hell. "
Hiroaki curses, " Goddamned Ikkuko and Kenji, I warned them they were being too hard on their daughter but they wouldn't listen to me. You should be nineteen by now. "
Serena snorts, " Hell no am I going back to life as Tsukino Usagi, now I have family members that actually care about me, Shingo and the 'rents treated me like dirt, my scouts constantly bitched at me for everything. I wasn't allowed to express doubts or I was being a baby. Do you see now, Yolei, why I come down on you when you insult Davis like you have been. I could let you all experience everything through my eyes, last life through this one, might give you some perspective. "
" You'd willingly go through puberty again? " Sora asks her.
Serena looks at her, " My mother would lock me out of the house if I came home with a failing grade, Sora. No one even suspected that my academic troubles may be due to a learning disorder until I was adopted into the Ishida family. "
" You like the life you have now and you don't want to give that up. " Mimi sums up.
" Damn straight, and Cody, sorry for the swearing, but more will be coming out, so forgive me for any future incidences in front of you. I generally try to keep my language clean in front of younger kids. "
" No need to apologize, I've seen the betrayal battle, you have every right to be angry and it's no wonder you forgot, you were betrayed by those you should have been able to trust, that kind of betrayal leaves deep emotional wounds. " Cody says.
" Dad, what do we do. " Matt asks.
" First off, we have her counselor send in a note stating under no circumstances is she allowed to be seen by Meiou Setsuna, second, who all does she have classes with? " Hiroaki asks.
Davis sighs, " I'm the only one she has all her classes with as her tutor. I have to be in her classes so I can re-teach the lessons to her, though if Kari were to at least accompany her to the bathroom, the one of few places I can't follow her… well, it'll make sure she has someone with her at all times and Setsuna won't be able to get her alone, though Viximon can also follow her unseen. "
" I can do that, I just can't believe the scouts could do something so… " Kari cuts off as Izzy had found the betrayal battle and they were all watching it. Matt's hands clench into fists as he hears the things they said to his little sister even while she fought them she worked to keep the civilians safe.
" They're so cruel, though what happened to Saturn and Jupiter? " Mimi asks.
" I have their star seeds safe inside my own, until it's safe for me to do so I can't bring them back. If I use too much of my power they will find me for sure. This is most likely coincidence but I'd rather not take chances. " Serena says.
" I can see why you have such a hard time trusting females, they all turned on you, yet why do you trust the guys so easily? " Sora asks her.
Serena sighs, " Because of Motoki-nii, he happens to be the manager of Crown Game Center, he was always there for me, gave me a safe place, let me eat for free too, he just charged the problem customers more then to make up the difference. I never liked Tuxedo Kamen, I hated him actually, so him running me through was no big deal. Guys have never betrayed me. Plus, Matt, Tai, and Davis would all kill the one who did, or at least make them wish they were dead. "
" Damn straight, you're my unofficial little sister, no one screws with my family. " Tai says.
" Like hell I'll allow anyone to let you suffer like that again. " Davis snaps.
Yolei's eyes were wide as she witnessed the battle that Serena had lived through, Sailor Moon had been the leader and her own scouts save for two had turned on her, tried to kill her. Now she understood why Serena came down so hard on her, " Serena, Davis, I will try really hard to start thinking before I speak so I don't inadvertently hurt someone with my words. I hope Sora and Mimi can help me out with this. "
" It's a step in the right direction, Inoue-san. " Davis says.
Earth's Atmosphere:
Sailor Galaxia snarls and sends out her power, suffusing it throughout all of Odaiba, she would not let the Tsuki no Hime be found before she was ready. Miracles and Friendship along with Courage had went a long way towards healing her broken soul, she had just taken another important step towards healing, but until she was ready she could not end up facing them yet. Looked like she would need to step in and keep the Sol System Senshi off guard. She also suffuses her power through Tamachi and Juuban as well, not wanting to give Mercury any kind of help in finding the hime.
The Golden Sailor curses under her breath, keeping Serena safe would not be easy by any means, though Friendship, Courage, and Miracles would die before they let her be hurt. Miracles more than any of them though, she had been infuriated to find out that a fake soul mate bond had been used on the hime, some part of her had to have known, which was why Fighter struck a chord with her, Davis however was her true soul mate. Someone would pay for the hell the Tsuki no Hime had been through and the Kinmoku System Senshi were all willing to help her exact that payment as well.
Ishida Apartment:
Serena rolls her shoulders, " Hey, Dai, I feel like a good spar, park, now, too many people in the apartment. "
" I could do with a good spar myself, let's go. " Davis says, stretching his arms out over his head.
" Should you two go alone? " Mimi asks.
" Can anyone else here fight at our level? We can at least hold our own in a fight. About the only thing Kenji ever did for his daughter was pay for Martial Arts lessons. " Davis states and they head out, Demiveemon and Viximon with them.
" He has a point, while he's not at her level he can at least hold his own with her. I've watched them spar and when they say a good spar they won't be holding back. That's how they work out their frustrations though I think they've swung by Cody's place a few times. " Matt says.
Cody nods at this, " They have, while they don't prefer weapons they still know how to use them and how to counter them when fighting unarmed. Grandpa is very impressed with them. "
At the park the pair sit their partners down and the two hide themselves away while their partners limber up, neither one of them went into a spar without stretching out thoroughly. Davis attacked first with a roundhouse kick while Serena counters with the same. While they fall into the rhythm of their spar they are being watched by a woman with short dusty blonde hair. Little did she know that her hime had changed her style of fighting, just so a trained fighter couldn't recognize her that way, she had begged her sensei to help her vary it up, just so she would be harder to beat.
Tenou Haruka smirks, those two would never make it as fighters. Davis was the first to spot her and he sends a glare at her, " Unless you want me to yell stranger danger you will move on. "
Haruka gulps and scrams, she did not need any more trouble with the law. It had taken a lot of time to clear up all the misunderstandings the last time, didn't need to have to do that again. Serena smirks, - Nice work, Dai.-

Davis blinks, - Uranus and Neptune only have eyes for each other.-
- That was Uranus?-
- In civilian form of Tenou Haruka. I don't like this, Dai, too many Outers are cropping up here in Odaiba.-
- They won't touch you, Serena, none of us will let them, even Inoue-san.-
