Chapter 10

Three days later the worst happens and Serena gets cornered by Setsuna. The viridian haired senshi smiles maliciously, " Hime, still alive and well I see, though that won't be lasting for long. "

Serena curses when her head is slammed hard into the brick wall behind her. Setsuna had managed to isolate her " You'll never beat me, not again, Meiou-sensei. "

Setsuna blinks, what was her hime prattling on about now. Serena reaches deep inside her and pulls out her Usagi scream. Setsuna slams her head again just as Hamaki-sensei and Fujiyama-sensei along with Davis, Kari, and TK arrive to see her do it. " Meiou-san, I believe we need to talk. " Hamaki-sensei says.

Davis was at Serena's side immediately supporting her weight. She buries her head in his shoulder and closes her eyes, trying to make the nausea she felt pass, " Kari, go get the nurse. TK, run over to the high school and get Matt, he should know. The school will call your dad. " Davis orders calmly though he was anything but. TK and Kari could both see the rage in his eyes yet he had banked it for Serena's sake. They both run off and Davis rubs slow circles on her back, keeping her still, " How many times did she slam your head? "

Serena holds two fingers up in response, " Just relax, I've got you. " Davis murmurs.

The nurse comes racing up with Kari then and not even five minutes into her exam of Serena did TK return with Matt. " You're lucky, Miss Ishida, though I would recommend you get your head x-rayed just in case, though all indicators are you have a concussion. " the nurse says.

Serena curses, " I need you to call Mizuno Saeko and tell her to get her ass here now. Tell her the hime needs her, that should be all she needs to hear, okay. "

" Do it, okay. Davis, can you get her to the nurse's office? " Matt asks.

Serena sighs, " Let's go, Dai, I'd prefer to not be on my feet actually. "

Davis nods and walks off with her, Matt's eyes were hard, Meiou wasn't even supposed to go anywhere near her. Little did he know that Sailor Galaxia was already making it so Setsuna didn't remember finding the hime. Once they reached the nurse's office Davis helps her lay down though he sat first, and Serena smiles, " Gonna keep me talking, huh, Dai? "

" You know it, Ren. How do you feel? "

Serena snorts at this question, - Had worse as Usagi. You should see some of my old battles.-

Davis sighs, " Ren. "

" I feel like you and Tai are playing soccer in my head. " Serena says softly.

An hour later they're just talking about innocuous stuff when Mizuno Saeko arrives and shuts the door behind her, " Saturn, put the wall up, please. "

Once a flash of purple light is seen Saeko goes straight to Serena and using her Data Computer starts to do a full diagnostic on her, " It is only a concussion, luckily. I'll get you both excused from class and take you home. " Saeko says.

" Dai can give you directions to my place. " Serena murmurs.

" Just let me call my mom and tell her what happened and that I need to stay with Serena to wake her every hour on the hour, right. "

" Correct, the nurse told me you were with her, Mister Motomiya. " Saeko says.

" Call me Davis. "

He places the call to his mom and then sends a message to Kari to gather their stuff and work up, and to also bring their digimon to the Ishida place. Hopefully TK would help her, then they head out. Davis helping Serena to walk out of the school slowly. The entire school was abuzz with the fact that the new counselor had attacked a student, " How did you scream like that anyhow? "

" Usagi scream, I am still capable of them. A girl's best weapon is the ability to scream very loud and shrilly. " Serena murmurs.

Davis nods at this and once they reach Saeko's car Serena balks, " Easy, Miss Ishida, I'll go slow, but this is the quickest way to get you home, okay. "

" Do I get any pain meds, Mizuno-sensei? " Serena asks.

" After I drop you two off I'll fill out the prescription myself, you'll be getting extra strength Tylenol for the next little while. " Saeko says.

" Got it. " Serena says, climbing into the backseat with Davis, Saeko had already placed a bucket back there as well.

Hiroaki was already there when they arrived and helps get Serena settled onto the couch. Then he heads out with Saeko to get the prescription, she had already given detailed instructions to Davis on how to care for Serena and would repeat them for Hiroaki. Davis sends a text to his coach telling him why he would be missing practice that day and Hiroaki had already called Serena's dance instructor to inform her as well.

Serena was not a happy twelve year old at the moment, " Who'll be calling the shots today? "

" I'll have to see if Tai is available, if not then I will message Cody and tell him he's in charge. " Davis says firmly.

The pair just chatter about school stuff until Serena's meds arrive and then she downs them before letting herself fall asleep. Davis pulls out his cell and sets the alarm for an hour. Serena would not be thrilled with this, but it was for her own good. Davis waits until school is out and sends a message to Tai asking if he could fill in as leader that day. Tai sends a message back that he could, he had nothing that would interfere.

Kari and TK pop over through Hiroaki's computer to deliver their school stuff and digimon. Matt had taken to taking Tsunomon with him, Koromon had been left behind so he could go with Tai. " I could stay with her and you could go, Davis. " TK says.

" No, Hope needs to be present, TA. Since Ren can't make it it'll be up to you to provide everyone with hope. " Davis says firmly.

" We'll keep you two apprised of what's going on so you can send suggestions if necessary. " Kari says.

" Good, I was going to suggest that anyway. Make sure everyone listens to Tai, he's the leader right now. " Davis states.

" Got it, though Tai will make sure he's heard and understood. " TK says.

" Big brother is good at that. " Kari admits.

Once they've left again Davis casts a glance at Serena, a worried undertone to his brown eyes. Very few ever got past his defenses and Serena was one of those few, with a sister like Jun it was understandable as well. Jun was a sadist, she got off on beating him senseless, though that had gotten harder for her to do since he'd started taking Martial Arts lessons and Serena had come into his life before that. Jun was terrified of Serena since that one time Serena had calmly wrenched her arm back off of his throat and threatened to break it if she didn't leave him alone.

Davis pulls out his homework and sets to work on it, he might as well get it done, that way he could just focus on helping Serena get hers done then.

Digiworld:

Tai groans, he seriously wondered how Davis had managed to work with Yolei and not snap her neck. Sure, she was watching what she said now, that lesson had finally been pounded home. Thankfully Sora had been able to come as well and she was able to keep him from snapping at the girl. Matt had, had to go to band practice though he was insanely worried about his little sister. Without Serena they couldn't digivolve their digimon at the moment though he and Sora were taking great pleasure in destroying the black rings with their digivices. Digmon had been given the job of destroying the spire from underground while they kept the Emperor's attention elsewhere. Cody made sure to stay out of sight too.

Ken frowns, where was his worthy adversary and the annoying girl? What had happened to keep them both out of the Digital World? The older goggle head was annoying, that was for sure, but it just wasn't the same without his adversary.

Once the spire falls they hightail it, as they didn't have Serena and Davis backing them. Though Greymon did get to destroy the rings that the digimon removed then. They knew that until Serena would return Davis would stay with her, even Yolei wasn't dense enough that she couldn't see the bond between the leader and his second.

Real World, Odaiba:

Matt frowns as he makes his way home an hour later, how had she figured it out and how the hell had she managed to isolate Serena. His little sister was no fool, there was no way in hell she would have willingly allowed herself to be alone with Meiou Setsuna, so how the hell had it been pulled off? Matt walks in to find Davis just getting done waking his sister once again. The elder blonde wondered what would happen if Davis got ahold of Setsuna, ever. He knew one thing, the woman would pay for harming Serena, Davis was more protective of her than he was, or so he had come to notice since they had both become Digidestined.

Until then he had never really interacted with Davis, though Serena had a lot over the last three years.
