Chapter Eleven
Two days later Mizuno-sensei gives Serena the all clear to go to school again. Davis had been helping her to keep her homework done and he turned in her schoolwork as well. Plus, he'd convinced their teachers to not give any tests until she could return, as he had to re-teach the lessons to her anyhow. Since she'd been attacked by a member of the faculty they decided to hold off on the tests until Davis gave the go ahead that she was caught up.
Serena had to wait another three days to restart her morning jogs; she still made it to school with plenty of time with Davis' teammates starting to notice just how much more protective of her he was since that incident and they decided to take it upon themselves to help watch out for her. She was practically a member of the team as it was anyhow. Setsuna had been fired on the spot and a report had been filed, one Naru's Datamon got to before Mizuno Ami could and it went on Setsuna's permanent record.
At lunch Serena groans and massages her temples, her ADHD was really acting up today, making it really hard for her to concentrate on her classes. Hell, it was only thanks to Davis that she stayed aware enough of their lessons. Her mind just went off in different directions today. " Ren, I'll reteach the lessons to you from today. Mizuno-sensei warned us that your ability to concentrate might be off for a little while. " Davis says.
" Thanks, Dai. " Serena says, eating her recommended diet from Saeko. She had taken the Ishida men out shopping for a diet that would help her the most. Since Saeko knew of her Lunarian dietary quirks her meals were actually turning out quite good and Matt was actually having fun cooking new foods. Of course, Matt would never own up to this outside of his home and Davis had promised to not say anything unless Matt started razzing Tai too much.
Matt took the warning to heart too, as he knew full well Tai was as close as Davis had to an older brother. Neither twelve year old had told the others about what Jun was like when it came to Davis. Davis had actually enjoyed spending the last few nights at the Ishida apartment. He knew his parents loved him, he just needed to get taped proof of Jun's depravity before she decided to take it any further than beating on him.
Davis sometimes cursed his intelligence as he knew things no other kid his age would about the facts of life and fetishes, sexual fetishes at that. No twelve year old should actually be having the fantasies his highly active and intelligent mind could come up with. He was just entering puberty for crying out loud, but he had known where babies came from since he was four. Yeah, that's how smart he actually happened to be, but when his parents had tried to send him to a genius school he had made sure to get straight D's. They had all known it was deliberate on his part but he had told his parents he wanted to be raised like a normal kid and not be a prodigy.
Chikana and Daiki had understood, Davis wanted to be raised like the rest of his peers. That was why he did normal things and why he always downplayed his intelligence, but he still was the number one ranked student in his grade anyhow. Not many parents would understand this and they didn't even throw a fit when he brought home the occasional high B just to keep the other students from getting too suspicious. The fact that he acted like a jock helped his cause too. " Hey, sis, how are you doing? " TK asks her as he and Kari settle at their table.
Serena sighs, " Well, I discovered Mizuno-sensei was right, my concentration is shot to hell. It would help if I could do my katas, but when I can't move all that energy gets trapped and therefore makes it harder for me to sit still in class. "
" At least they were warned that you might not be able to focus, which is why all our tests are delayed until you can concentrate again. Mizuno-sensei mostly just wanted you to come back today so you can readjust to being in school. That note from her really has been an academic life saver for you. " Davis says.
Serena jabs him in the side with her elbow and Davis grins, he loved teasing her, " Dai, shut up. "
" Aw, Ren, you don't love me anymore? " Davis asks, pouting.
Serena rolls her eyes at him, " You goof, you know you're my best friend. "
Kari and TK smile at their interaction, they acted more like a couple than best friends. Then again Tai and Sora were like that too at this age. Now, if only Tai could get his act together and hook up with Sora. Matt was starting to notice Sora and if Tai didn't make a move he might.
Davis and Serena were oblivious to how their actions looked to outsiders, though one could say Serena was nineteen, but she had the mindset of a twelve year old still. Galaxia had wanted to give her another chance to be a teen. She remembered what it was like to be a teenager but that was it. After school Davis and Serena reach the Computer Lab first and Serena rolls her shoulders, trying to loosen them up from so much inactivity.
Davis smiles, " I'll help out with your stiff muscles later, 'kay. "
Serena nods at this, she'd never had anyone she trusted that much to actually massage her muscles to loosen them up. Now she had Tai and Davis, Matt would but he didn't have an athlete's knowledge of the human musculature system. Serena turns a walkover, knowing she needed to get some mobility back. Davis smirks, " Does anyone other than me know how truly limber you are, Ren? "
" My third transformation included a backbend to get my boots on. Not even the inners realized what that meant for my flexibility. " Serena says.
Davis once again curses his own intelligence for making him sexually aware so damn young. Serena smirks, " Mizuno Ami had the same problem with her intelligence and being aware of things no one that young should be. "
" How'd she deal? "
" Repressed her sexual desires, suppressed her entire damn limbic system. " Serena answers.
" Che non può essere sano( That can't be healthy). "
" Non è. No credo che lei nemmeno se stessa pleasured( It's not. I don't think she even pleasured herself).
The others walk in just then and Davis flashes through a certain sign, telling Serena what he wanted, - Later.-
Serena understands and with Matt and Tai along they head into Digiworld. They hitch a ride on a train in Rail Town only for Cody's D-3 to pick up a Digi Egg. Said Digi Egg resonates deep within Serena and she knows which egg it is, the Egg of Friendship. " Sis, why don't you try it? " TK asks her.
" Love and Friendship are my main power bases, Light of Hope is a title I earned. That egg is not meant for me. " Serena replies.
" So you could have lifted the Digi Egg of Love? " Yolei asks her.
" Most likely. "
Davis sighs as he walks forward, he could feel the pull, " Ren, get over here, it's meant for both of us. "
Serena blinks and senses deeper, Davis was right. With a shrug she joins him in picking the egg up upon which it splits in two equally powerful parts and goes into the D-Terminals. Then she whips around, selecting the Friendship egg in her D-Terminal, " Digi Armor Energize! "
" Renamon armor digivolve to… Amiciziamon, the defender of friendship. You've been a bad boy, Ken. "
Amiciziamon was blue and yellow in color and bipedal in nature with a fighter's stature still. Unlike Juéxīnmon she had weapons, specifically she wielded a staff that could convert into a spear with a simple twist, though in her hands anything could become a weapon. She had appeared in front of Matt and Tai's partners in a burst of speed. She was light on her feet as well. Davis smirks at this and selects his new Digi egg, " Digi Armor Energize! "
" Veemon armor digivolve to… Raidramon, the storm of friendship. " (AN: If you don't know what Raidramon looks like then look him up on google images or somewhere similar).
Serena's eyes take on a hard cast and she starts glowing amethyst once again, Gabumon and Agumon feel the power fill them up, " Agumon digivolve to… Greymon. Greymon digivolve to… MetalGreymon. "
" Gabumon digivolve to… Garurumon. Garurumon digivolve to… WereGarurumon. "
" Patamon digivolve to… Angemon. Angemon digivolve to… MagnaAngemon. "
" Gatomon digivolve to… Angewomon. "
" Digi Armor Energize! " Yolei and Cody call out in unison.
" Hawkmon armor digivolve to… Halsemon, the wings of love. "
" Armadillomon armor digivolve to… Digmon, the drill of power. "
Ken curses that Crest of Determination, it was making it very hard for him to have a decisive victory over his opponents. He still didn't know what his worthy adversary had meant by the fact that he was being used. He was the one in control here, no one else.
As the digimon mix it up long forgotten instincts have Serena leaping straight up into the air where her eyes widen, where she had been standing was now a crater. She lands and immediately dives to her right before going straight into a back handspring. " Impressive human child. How long can you keep it up, you will tire. "
Serena curses, a Karatenmon, just what she needed right now. Why did fate hate her so much. She dodges again and the switches momentum, " Cody, give me your boken, now! "
She catches it just before she reaches Karatenmon and deflects his attack, with her power coursing through Cody's boken she would be fine, the boken would hold up just fine. The speed at which they were fighting left everyone astonished though Davis takes the fight to Ken to keep him from observing too much about Serena. Once Ken retreats Serena is still involved in her fight with Karatenmon, " Give it up, human. "
Serena was bent down, still getting up from being slammed into the ground by Karatenmon's last attack, " Like hell I will, if I didn't run from Chaos then I sure as hell am not running from you. Bring it on, bastard, and I'll give it back to you a thousand fold. "
Everyone except Davis stares at her in horror, " Calci in culo( Kick ass)! " Davis calls out to her.
Serena smiles and pushes off, rushing towards Karatenmon, Karatenmon mirroring her actions, only Serena goes into a slide tackle, comes up behind him, spins on her heel, and slashes down, her amethyst aura cutting straight through him, deleting him instantly. Serena grins, " That is why I play soccer when I can, Matt, slide tackles are useful. "
Davis grins at this, he'd have to remember that for future confrontations. Tai chuckles, " I've been trying to tell him that for years, Serena. "
" I know, it's so very hard to teach an old dog new tricks. " Serena says and then she jumps onto Raidramon with Davis. Davis grins and they take off, leaving Matt fuming behind them.
" You just love tormenting him, don't you? " Davis asks.
" It's not my fault he makes it so damn easy, Dai. "
Davis has to admit she has a point with that. " About our earlier conversation, how could she do that to herself? "
" She wanted only to study, with no distractions. "
" Tell me you acted like a healthy teenager. " Davis implores of her.
" I did, at least in response to hormones. Tsukino Usagi's temper was feared when she was hormonal, by her senshi too. "
" That hasn't changed then, though I make sure I come bearing Dark Chocolate gifts during a certain week, and yes, I have actually figured that out. I'm too smart for my own good. " Davis says.
Serena tightens her hold as Raidramon leaps over a gorge, they were just going for a run. " You're probably the only male in my life that hasn't faced my hormonal wrath yet, well, except for Cody and Takeru, but Cody's a new edition while I only rarely got to see Takeru. "
Davis laughs at this while enjoying her tight hold on him. His mind stutters to a halt as this thought actually computes and is comprehended. He couldn't have actually fallen for his best friend, could he have? Serena lets herself relax as she can feel Davis' emotional turmoil. He had caught on to what she had figured out when he stayed with her after her unfortunate counseling session with Setsuna. There was more than friendship between them, the question was, what would they do about it? " Ren, what do we do? "
From his tone she knew what he was asking her, " For now, nothing, Dai, we're young, we have plenty of time to act on our emotions. "
Raidramon comes to a stop in a spire free zone, far from where they left the others. He and Amiciziamon end their evolutions and go off to train together, they had been educated about human emotions and other things, like the differences in relationships. They knew their partners needed some time to talk about how their relationship was evolving.
Davis sighs, pulling Serena into a hug, needing her close for the moment. Why did he have to have an emotional epiphany now? " Ren, what's your view on roleplaying? "
Serena groans at this, " Tell me you don't… "
" I do, just ask my fantasies. " Davis says.
Serena sighs at this, " Let's discuss this when we're older, Dai. "
" True, we do have time for that. How long do we stay in the in between friends and more state? "
" Well, we're twelve now, when won't your parents have a fit. Dad said I can start dating at fourteen. "
" My parents won't let Jun date yet, but they told me I can start dating at thirteen. "
" Well, I guess we wait for two years. " Serena says.
" I can live in the murky area for two years, " Davis admits, " That won't stop us from our annual anime con trip. "
" Hell no! What will our costumes be this year? " Serena asks.
Davis grins, " How would you feel about Naruto and Hinata? "
" Luffy and Nami, post time skip. "
" Will you even be allowed out of the house wearing a bikini top and hip huggers? "
" I can loan you the Luna Pen. "
" Tempting, but no. We'll do our costumes the old fashioned way. " Davis says.
Serena sighs, now she had to figure out how to convince her father and brother to let her leave the house as Nami post time skip. " I'm going to have a fun time convincing them to let me… Mimi, of course, Mimi could easily convince them to let me be Nami. Hell, if we could pull it off she could be Robin. "
" Maybe even Vivi. Call her and ask Mimi. "
" Ask me what, you two. "
Serena quickly launches into her explanation at a speed only another girl could understand and Mimi grins, " Excellent, a challenge, thank you. I'll do it, and I'll make sure to talk to daddy so I can be back, just give me the specifics in your next email, Serena. "
They head for the Ishida home and Mimi smiles as she spots Matt and Mr. Ishida at home. The Child of Sincerity goes to talk with the Ishida males and ten minutes later has gotten their written agreement that Serena can cosplay as Nami from One Piece. Davis is working with Serena on her homework, knowing that she needed the help. He'd made sure to text his mom and let her know what was up too. Mimi's keen eyes pick up on the fact that something in their relationship seemed to have shifted. Then she smiles, they had admitted their feelings to each other but agreed to remain as friends for the next little while. It made a lot of sense actually.
