Chapter 3

A/N: Sorry for the disappearance. I started graduate school last month along with a new job. I'll try and update as much as possible, but I can't promise frequency. I'm currently working on two stories other than this one, one of which will eventually be posted on here and the other will be on Wattpad most likely. I'll try and update this story once a month, but I can't be certain.

Everything in Auradon is different from the Isle. The sun is brighter. The air is cleaner, it no longer feels as heavy when it's breathed in. Colors are brighter, people are smiling and wanting to help. Apparently, everyone in Boredon is raised to be good and kind. A concept confusing to the young daughter of Hades as she waits on the thin hospital bed for the doctor to return. Her blue jacket was laying across the back of the chair that Belle occupies next to the hospital bed. The walls of the room are a light blue with castles and fairies painted on it. The blue-haired teen was trying her best to ignore the TV, she found the show about a talking dog with a blog interesting, but she just wants to sleep. The bed is soft, and there's a pillow! She never slept on a bed before or had access to a pillow. Her energy has been draining faster as of late. Something she hopes to get answers for once the labs from the numerous blood tests come back. As Hadley finally starts to nod off, a young doctor enters the room with a clipboard. Hadley yawns as she slowly sits back up, barely registering the kind queen patting her shoulder. "Did anything show up in the blood tests?" the teen asks, desperate to know what has been making her sick.

"Poison is in your bloodstream. Magical traces mixed with it. Medically, there is nothing we can do. Only magic can heal you," the doctor reports as he glances over the charts. He had to run the tests multiple times just to make sure it was magic he found in her system. "We can run additional tests, but Fairy Godmother is your best bet."

"Of course, my mother would poison me," Hadley scoffs as she shifts to stand up. If they can't help her here, she may as well go back to Auradon Prep. Meet her roommate and rest before classes in the morning. She figured out years ago that it was Maleficent who caused whatever is slowly killing her.

"Your mother? There wasn't anyone listed in your records," Belle says, having assumed that Hadley's mother was either Persephone or some lesser criminal. Neither option sounding like they would poison a small child. The queen doesn't understand why anyone, villain or hero, would attempt to kill their own child. "Who is your mother? And do you have any siblings in immediate danger?"

"My mother is Maleficent. Dad had Yen Sid create a fake death certificate and a fake birth certificate after dad wound me in the woods. My brother Malice is only four and I don't know if Hadie got him to dad in time," Hadley says after a moment of silence. She figured that this is her best chance to have her baby brother bright over. Just in case Maleficent tries anything. She and Mal would take turns hiding the small child whenever Maleficent would get angry about being trapped on the Isle. "Mal doesn't know that I'm Fey. Dad didn't want to risk mother finding out that I survived."

Queen Belle nods and grabs Hadley's jacket off the back of the chair before standing up. "King Adam and I will work on bringing Malice over as soon as possible. We will have to set up a place for him at the Castle because he isn't old enough for school yet," the queen promises. Knowing that it will be easy to convince her husband to bring over the preschooler. Perhaps his age will help the more skeptical of the Council feel more comfortable with the idea of villain children in Auradon. "You and Mal will still be able to see him," she adds as she notices the teen about to speak.

"Thank you," Hadley says, not bothering to hide her relief. She will go look for Mal after classes later in the week to tell her about Malice getting to come to Auradon. Hadley takes her jacket from Belle and puts it back on. Her arms felt so cold without it. "Are we going back to the school now? I want to make sure that I'm ready for classes." Over the years, Hadley grew to be quite fond of school. Unlike most of her classmates, she actually tried in her classes. And besides, she figures that mentioning school would get Belle to have them leave the hospital faster. Hadley can hear the screams and cries of the souls who died within these walls. Reminds her of a graveyard, but far less fun.

Belle smiles at the teen's desire to learn and do well. "Of course! I need to discuss things with Fairy Godmother," the queen states before turning to the doctor. "I'll come back to finish up any paperwork that my husband didn't fill out."

The young doctor nods and leaves the room. Going to the center desk to see what all is left paperwork-wise. It seems like King Adam had signed all of the papers relating to Hadley's treatment. King Adam walks to the room to meet up with his wife and the teenager that they decided to be responsible for. "I have the car pulled up out front," the king says as he walks over to his wife, moving to put his arm around her when the blue-haired teenager's eyes roll back into her head. Her legs shake and she begins to collapse to the ground. Adam quickly catches the teen and adjusts her so he has her in a bridal carry. "Call Fairy Godmother," he says as he adjusts the teen so he doesn't drop her. The two royals quickly rush the teen to the car and rush her to the school.

Fairy Godmother rushes outside with Herkie, the tall and burly son of Hercules and Megara, to help get Hadley inside and to her dorm. "Where's my cousin? I already called her roommate and told her what happened," the red-haired boy says when King Beast gets out of the driver's seat of the car. He found out about his little cousin when Fairy Godmother knocked on his door to ask him to help get Hadley inside.

"She's in the backseat," the king says to the red-haired boy. Despite how small the daughter of Hades is, the middle-aged Beast isn't as young as he used to be. Having help for getting the 14-year-old to her dorm is the best for his back. Once Herkie picks up his cousin and carries her inside the school, Adam turns to the Fairy Godmother. "A magic-based poison is in her system and only magic can cure her. Belle and I will be working on getting her brother here so he isn't poisoned next. As soon as we have him settled in the castle, Belle will help with research as I reach out to other magic users."

The fairy nods and looks to the door Hadley was carried through. "I'll contact her family up on Olympus. See if they can help with finding a cure. I'll send for my spell books in the morning," the headmistress states. Things will be far more difficult than they all expected.
