Remember We'll Be History
Twenty-Six: Fire & Heartbreak
Laketown
They were just waiting on the news to get, it surprised that it seemed quiet, Fili kept looking toward the Mountain.
"They are going to be alright," he looked to see the oldest daughter of the bargemen in-front of him.
"I hope so," Fili told her.
"Do you think? We will be alright?" Sigrid asked looking toward the Mountain.
"I believe so, I've never been there before so I know things will change," Fili told her.
"I think it will change for everyone," Sigrid told him.
"Where did your father go?" Fili asked because he had seen Bard go out but hadn't seen him come back.
"I.." she didn't get to finish. When she heard a scream. They turned and looked to see Orcs on the roof. Fili pushed her behind him and stabbed the Orc that was coming their way.
"They are close, I thought King Thranduil took care of them," Fili told her, Sigrid grabbed one of the fish spears jabbed it into one of the Orcs, surprising him. They also heard a noise coming from the sky.
"We need to get everyone out," Legolas said moving out of the house as well.
"My brother and sister?" Sigrid asked.
"Kili has them," Legolas told her.
"Let's go," Fili told her. Sigrid nodded and moved toward them and held the staff in her hand in case she needed it.

Bella stood in shock as she saw that Smaug had been taken down by the gold on the ground. It seemed to everyone that it was over, all the nerves told her it wasn't. She was right when gold began to come out.
"Revenge, Revenge!" Smaug screamed and she ran following the dragon because it was going toward Laketown.
"No, stop!" Bella screamed at it, but she knew that it was too late. But she could hear his voice.
"I am Death," he screamed before he made his way to Laketown.
"What have we done?" Bella asked.
#
The people of Laketown were running and some were beating themselves for not taking the Elf King's help. Thranduil had been able to see the Dragon and he had told his people to get outside the town. They saw the Master be in a boat full of gold and how it all went down when the dragon passed. He had been finding people in the fire with the youngest Prince of the Durin's while his son and Tauriel had gone to see if more trouble was coming.
"Where is Bard?" Thranduil asked Kili.
"Da was taken by the guards to one of the cells," Bain replied, and he was running with the black arrow in his hands.
"Follow him, I will check if their other people alive to help," Thranduil told Kili.
"Be sure to be careful,"
#
Bard, Kili, and Bain were both running so they could see the lance at the top, As Kili and Bain had noticed the empty spot. Kili knew they had one shot to end it. Bain was not supposed to be with them.
"Bain go back get out of here," Bard said.
"No," Bain said. Smaug came to the bell tower and took it down.
"Who are you that would stand against me Bowman," Smaug demanded. Bard moved toward the bow and saw that it was broken.
"Now that is a pity," Smaug taunted him. "What will you do now bowman, you are forsaken no help will come,"
Bard was trying to find a solution.
"It that your child you cannot save him from the fire, he will burn!"
"You will," Kili said and gave him a bow that was not broken, Bard smiled and made sure the arrow was directed toward the empty spot.
'Breathe,'
"You will die," Smaug said, he came their way.
"No, we won't," Bard said and released his arrow, the three of them were looking toward the arrow as it pierced the Dragon's heart.

Erebor
The Dragon went down they all saw it, Bella was in shock and knew that the people would be coming here. It was going to be the plan.
"Look there," Gloin said.
"The Raven's are returning to the Mountain,"
"Aye, word will spread, and people will know the dragon is dead," Balin said. Everyone was celebrating, well not everyone as Thorin was looking at the Mountain
"We need to look for the Arkenstone," Thorin said. Bella turned to him.
"What?" Bella asked.
"Bella, we got our Mountain back!" Thorin said with happiness in his voice, but there was something in his eyes that told her something was wrong.
"Our nephews are out there, they might be dead by Dragon fire," Bella snapped.
"They are Durin's they would have survived, Sherlock would tell you if they weren't," Thor told her.
"Sherlock is not here," Bella said.
"We will find the Arkenstone and take our place," Thorin said grabbing her hands and touching her hair. It told her something was wrong, and she was not going to like it. She had a brief backlash the case and knew that she would have to be careful. Thorin walked toward the Mountain and Bella tried to calm down as she felt her side of the coat heavy with the Arkenstone.
'Sherlock, please get back soon,' she sighed following Thorin and the rest, Balin gave her a worried look as well.
In Dale, everyone had moved and trying to get the least of their possessions. Bard had to stop people from killing Alfrid even if he hated the man.
"Stop! Don't you have your fill of death, Winter is upon us and we have nothing, we must look for shelter, the sick and the helpless,"
"What else?" one of the women asks.
"We survive," Bard said. Tauriel and Sigrid looked toward the mountain where Fili and Kili had gone.
"Stop!" Bella said.
"Aunt Bella!" Fili and Kili said.
"You need to go back,"
"We just got here," Bofur said.
"I've tried talking to him, but he won't listen," Bella said.
"Who?" Oin asked.
"Thorin, he is not listening, he isn't eating or sleeping it has been this way for a few days, he is not himself,"
"What kind of sickness?" Kili asked.
"I don't know," Bella said. Fili looked around and went toward the source. "Fili!" they followed the golden prince and saw the gold. Fili and Kili looked around and Bella saw it on all of them and the others the curse of the gold. She tried not to cry out that she had it.
'Please hurry,' she thought.
"Where will you go?" Legolas asked.
"There is only one place," Bard said.
'Bella might be in danger, they're still alive,'
'He fell, didn't he?' Bard asked her. Her silence was his answer, but now he knew why Bella was in danger.
"Many people will look toward the Mountain if Bella is still alive," Legolas said.
"She is," Bard said. "She will help us; do you know something we done?"
"I'm not certain, but it's what I fear may come," Legolas said.
A day later Bard looked to see that Alfrid had not done his job.
"I brought aid," Thranduil said.
"I thank you," Bard said.
"We must head toward the Mountain,"
Bella was looking at Thorin as he spoke to Bard.
'Are you alright?' Mina asked her.
'How did you do it?' Bella asked. 'When the man you love might have gone mad?'
'Worse than I know of you,' Mina said. Bella heard when he told Bard to go. They saw as he left.
"What are you doing?!" Bell asked.
"This does not concern you," Thorin said.
"Excuse me!" Bella said. "I don't know if you didn't notice, but we had a plan out there right now are a bunch of soldier elves and angry fishermen, they will kill us and I am not looking into seeing my family murder," the other Dwarves looked to Bella. Some like Balin seemed to be snapping out of it.
"Not for much longer," Thorin said.
"What does that mean?"
"It means Queen Under the Mountain, you should never underestimate dwarves," Thorin said moving away.
"We've reclaimed Erebor, now we defend it," Thorin said. As the other's walked down, Balin and Bella stared at each other.
Gandalf arrived at Dale and saw that everyone seemed to be preparing for something.
"Who is in charge here?"
"How can I help you?" Bard asked.
He was brought to the tent of the Elven King and he didn't seem rather impressed. As Gandalf began telling them of the war coming.
"A storm is just a storm,"
"Not this time," he said. "An army of Orcs are on the move, things that are bred for the war our enemy has to summon a full arsenal,"
"Why show his hand now?"
"Because we force when Thorin's company set out to reclaim Erebor,"
"Now his wife is captured with a mad King," Thranduil said.
"What are you talking about?"
"Did you not know, the Hobbit, Bella she married the Dwarf King," Bard said. "He is not well,"
"If the Orc's reach us and they take the Mountain everything will fall," Gandalf said.
"The Orc army, where is it?" Thranduil asked.
Bella began to look for provisions and pilling them on the side in one of the rooms, as she knew that she could still help them. The Mithril shirt seemed heavier on her.
"My Queen," Balin said.
"Bella," she responded.
"You are here alone,"
"I will do everything I can to protect us," Bella said.
"I know the look he gave," Balin said. Bella turned to him.
"Dragon sickness, it is the same look his Grandfather wore," Balin said. "It's an obsession, a dark and jealous love Bella, it sends his Grandfather mad,"
"If he were to find it," Bella asked. "The Arkenstone, would it help,"
"That stone crowns all, but will it stay his madness no, I fear it might make it worst, it's best if that stone stayed lost,"
Bella walked and walked knowing that she would have to make a choice that would cause Thorin to hate her. She waited until they were asleep before she went on with her plan.
"You, do you agree with this?" Gandalf asked Bard. "You will get that gold with the blood of Dwarves in your hands,"
"It will not come to that," Bard said.
"That will not stop them," they both looked up to see. "They will fight to the death to defend their own,"
"Belladonna Baggins," Gandalf said. Bella moved toward the wizard and they hugged.
"How did you get out?" Bard asked.
"It doesn't matter, come in," Thranduil said and looked at his guards to shut the tent now it was them.
"Your husband fell," Thranduil said to her.
'Garrett don't be a jerk,' Kate said smacking him in the head.
"I came to give you this," Bella said pulling out the stone.
"The heart of the mountain," Thranduil said. "The King's Jewel,"
"Worth a King's ransom," Bard said. "Why?"
"I took it, as part of the fourteenth share," she said and blinked the tears off her eyes.
"Why are you doing this?"
"I'm not doing it for you guys, my family is in that Mountain and I have to protect even if it from themselves and I don't care about gold or jewelry, I care about them and I'm prepared to face the consequences," Bella said. "Thorin values this stone above anything else and I believe he will give you anything you want for its returns,"
"Bella, you don't have to do this," Bard said.
"I have no choice," Bella told him. "If you two need the god take the rest of my share, I have no need of it,"
"You know he doesn't deserve you," Thranduil said.
"Alright rest up, we will have to get out on the morrow,"
"What are you talking about?" Bella asked. "I'm not leaving,"
"We will, I don't want to think about what Thorin will do to you if he finds out, what you did?"
"I am not leaving,"
The next morning Bella was looking through the entire thing. Thranduil and Bard were really focused thinking Bella herself was safe with the wizard.
"What payment?" Thorin asked. "You have nothing," Bard pulled out the Arkenstone and everyone was frozen,
"How do you have it?" Kili asked.
"The King may have it, but first he must honor his word," Bard said.
"They're taking us for fools, a filthy lie," Thorin said. "The Arkenstone is in this mountain, it is trick,"
"It is no trick," Bella said. "The stone is real, I gave it to them,"
Bard and Thranduil looked to see and both were cursing the brave hobbit woman that was in danger.
'Where is he?' Thranduil asked.
'Mina and I sent him the signal,' Kate said looking at Bella.
'Stupidly brave woman,' Bard thought.
"You,"
"I took it as my fourteenth share,"
"You would steal from me?" Thorin asked.
"No, I may be a burglar, but I like to think I'm an honest one," Bella said. "I'm willing to let it stand against my claim,"
'Against your claim, you are my wife and you have betrayed me to the enemies," Thorin said. "You miserable wench!"
"I have done what is right! Many times, I was going to give it to you, but..." Bella snapped.
"But what thief," Thorin snapped, his heart was breaking the woman he loved had just betrayed him.
"This gold has changed you; you are not the Dwarf I married," Bella said. "The Dwarf I married would have gone through with his word and not questioned the loyalty of his kin!"
"Do not speak to me of loyalty," Thorin said. "Throw her from the rampart!"
"He is going to kill her," Bard said.
"Do you not hear me?" Thorin asked pulling at Fili, who pulled back. "I will do it myself," he pulled Bella and had her by the neck high enough that she couldn't plant her feet. She began to fight at him trying to scratch at his arm.
"No," both Thranduil and Bard said. Before Gandalf could open his mouth, Thorin looked at Bella and she could see the heartbreak.
"Thorin don't," all Bella felt was gravity as her body began to fall.
