Chapter 6

A/N: Once again, this fanfic is rated M for language.

After the revelation Mal just heard, she wasn't fully focusing on the team meeting in her dorm room. As she flipped through her spell book, the teen dragon was not paying full attention to the spells. "So, is Hadley able to help us? Or did she tell you to fuck off?" Jay asks once he finally shows up to the meeting. His bright blue tourney jersey loosely covers his torso. He leans against the bedpost as he looks at the team leader. He knew that getting Hadley on their side would be difficult, and highly unlikely unless Mal sucks up her pride and apologizes for whatever the hell happened to start the rivalry. The son of Jafar chuckles when Mal shoots him a glare. "Told you that Carlos and I would have better luck than you."

"She needs more help than we do anyways. Hadley is too proud to accept the fact that she needs the help…" Mal starts to say before starting to trail off. Getting lost in her thoughts as she flips to the poison section of her spellbook. Even if the 14-year-old refuses to forgive Mal, Hadley is still her little sister. Mal will find a way to help anyways. "We need to buy her time. Whatever plan we come up with, the earliest we can act is Coronation."

Evie, Carlos, and Jay all glance at each other before nodding. They knew that Mal would only hold back a plan to steal the want if a member of her team could die. "Hadley is in trouble, isn't she?" Carlos asks. Out of the four people in the room, he is the closest to the demigoddess. Hadley had kept him hidden during Cruella's fit back on the Isle and in exchange, Carlos would help her locate thrown out medical textbooks and search for various diseases. When Mal refuses to make eye contact with him and goes back to the section of her book on poisons, a lightbulb appears over Carlos' head. "I can get that book to her. I used to be Hadley's research partner. She won't push me away."

"That's a conversation for later. We need to figure out how to get the wand when we're ready," Mal rushes to say. Giving Carlos a pointed look to shut him up. "Jane was a bust so we need a new idea."

"Fairy Godmother blesses Ben with the wand at coronation," Evie says as if it's no big deal. The daughter of the Evil Queen was too busy sewing a dark blue skirt to notice the others looking at her. Finally glancing over when there was a knock at the door. "What?" she asks when she notices the others looking at her.

"Hold that thought," Mal says as she gets up from her bed and walks to the door. The oak door swings open without a creak. Golden boy Ben on the other side of the door. "Oh. Hi."

"Hey. How was your first day? Do any of you need anything?" Ben asks as he smiles at the purplette. Having eyes only for her.

"No, I think we're all good," Mal says awkwardly. Trying to avoid eye contact with the crown prince. Seeing him in her dreams has been confusing for her. Now that she met the boy from her dreams, she had hoped that he would never appear in her dreams again. If only that worked.

"Oh. Well if you guys need anything…" Ben starts to say as he goes to leave. He wanted the chance to get to know Mal better, but Audrey has been breathing down his neck. Her jealousy has spiraled out of control and the soon-to-be king has been thinking about dumping her.

"Wait!" Mal quickly says as she sees the prince leaving. When they make eye contact, she loses trac of her thoughts. "Are we getting to go to your coronation?"

"Yeah. The whole school is invited," Ben smiles.

"That is beyond cool," Mal says as she begins to get an idea. If they can get the wand during the coronation, every royal will be in one place for Maleficent's return. "Is there any chance that the four of us and Hadley can be up at the front by Fairy Godmother. Soak up all that goodness," Mal asks with an innocent smile, hoping that Ben will agree.

"Sorry but no. Hadley will be closer to the front than the rest of you thanks to my parents being her legal guardians at the moment. The only people who will be at the front with me are Fairy Godmother, my parents, and my… girlfriend," Ben says apologetically. He wishes that they could be closer to the front, but he isn't in charge of any seating arrangements.

"Okay thanks bye," Mal quickly says before shutting the door in his face. Mal turns to her crew with a smirk. "It looks like Ben needs a new girlfriend. Book me," Mal orders, catching her spellbook with a giggle as Carlos tosses it to her.

"Hey Mal, can we talk?" Carlos asks as the four friends get ready to leave the girl's dorm room for dinner. As the group was planning ways to break apart Ben and Audrey, Hadley's timeline has been weighing on his mind. Two months is not much time to find a cure without help.

Mal nods and motions to the door. Ja and Evie share a look before leaving the room and closing the door. "You knew about Hadley and never thought to mention it."

"Showing weakness on the Isle is deadly. I kept Hadley's secret and she hid me from my mother," Carlos says as he plays with the faux fur tail on his beltloop. He may not have known the origin of the poison, but he knew it made Hadley weaker. "Why do you care about Hadley all of a sudden? You couldn't stand her on the Isle," the son of Cruella De Vil asks. As only Evie knows who Mal's father is, the fact that Mal and Hadley are sisters is a closely guarded secret.

"She's my half-sister. I'm responsible for her," Mal says after thinking this through. There was only one dragon sent to the Isle. Maleficent. After years of thinking that Hadley is only her half-sister, Mal finally knows the truth. "Hadley is her middle name. Her first name is Fey."

"The same Fey that Maleficent would compare you to. Your dead sister?" Carlos says, blinking in surprise. He always assumed that their rivalry stemmed from Mal not letting Hadley into the gang. Not a sibling rivalry. "That explains a lot. It always seemed very… personal for the two of you. How long have you known that you're related?"

"I found out for sure today. I've suspected for years. Hadley always knew," Mal lies. She knew that they were at least half-sisters from the moment they met at 5 and 7. Jealousy was an issue from the start. Their father cared about Hadley while Male is neglected. "We should get to dinner. Don't tell the others that Hadley and I are related," Mal states before leaving Carlos to his thoughts.

"Mal was for sure told to fuck off," the dual-haired boy chuckles to himself before following his leader.
