Chapter 1

She started shifting as she slowly realized she was nice and warm and snug in a bed, but who's bed?!, the last she could remember she was on the street, almost getting raped, until…..she faintly remembered a male voice. The angelic deep booming voice. Oh, how she wished she could hear him again, so she could see him again to thank him. She then fully realized that to do that, she had to open her eyes and get off this strange bed. She slowly opened one eye and looked around, then she opened the other eye and spotted a young woman staring out the window. The woman slowly looked over and saw that woman was up from her traumatic experience.

The woman on the bed shriveled back, as she stared at the younger woman.

Younger woman: Hey, you're finally awake!

The woman on the bed squeaked as she was nervously hiding behind the blanket.

The woman: Oh, wow you remind me of my prima Delores… oh, I'm sorry to startle you, I'm Maribel. Nice to meet you…..

Woman voice weakly: Hi,…. Ah'm Melissa.

Maribel: So, judging by your confused look, you're probably new here right?

Melissa: Yeah, moved here about two months ago.

Maribel: Oh, how come I never seen you around before?

Melissa: Ah'I lived outside of town, in a nearby forest in a tent.

Maribel: Oh….wow, why?

Melissa: Well ah'I didn't know ya'll were a village since ya'll were hidden behind a hedge wall… so, who was that hunk of a man that saved little old me?

Maribel: Well if you're talking about my tio he's the one that told my other tio, my papa, and my sister Luisa to help you.

Melissa: Oh, well…tell them thank…ya.

She said holding her neck as if it was so sore.

Maribel: Oh, I'm so sorry I'll let you rest your voice.

Then Maribel got up and started for the door until she remembered something.

Maribel: Oh, and if you need anything just holler… or….

Then she remembered some set of wind chimes that they never used since of her tia Pepa's moods. She left it near her to use as a bell.

Maribel: Just ring this, and I or my mother will check up on you if you need anything.

And she then got up and left the room. After the guest room, she then noticed that her tio Bruno's door was opened. She walked in, and it was a semi-normal room, the only different thing was no more stairs, and there was a sand fall covering a small cave hidden by a wall. She was grateful to not go up thousands of flights of stairs, as she once did before. She saw her tio Bruno relaxing on his beaten old chair, he was looking better and don't have a blackeye bags anymore, due to his sister's cooking and love, but mostly cooking.

Bruno: Ah, Maribel w-what a-a pleasant surprise.

He said nervously. Maribel knew why and felt happy that her tio had a crush.

Maribel: You know tio Bruno, she's awake if you want to go and meet her, she seems decent enough, and she seems about your age, plus I think you two might make a cute couple.

She said being serious and a little bit joking. As she started for the door, he stops her.

Bruno: Maribel,…. Thank you for telling me she's up, I mean.

Then they both walked out of his room and into the hallway. They separated as Maribel went downstairs, and Bruno went to the guest room.
