Dim candlelight illuminated naught but the agreement documents in front of Count Mott. His hand busied itself around the narrow of a quill, which he dipped in a small container of ink before continuing his work. To deal with such mediocrities. busywork that did nothing but drain his soul.
The results of course would be beneficial to all within his domain, however it was this same busywork that made him utterly despise the title of "Noble".
Who was he to these people? Likely nothing more than a slouch who feasted on luxurious pleasures such as food or women. He sensed a growing unrest within, suspicions were rising.
Suspicions which the document he was writing in hand would, in all hope, be put to rest.
It was during his quiet deliberations and mental dissection of how his people viewed him that a knock arrived at the door.
"Enter." He declared loudly, enough for it to be heard through the oak of the door. Prompting the gentle squeak of the hinges and wood as it opened. From which a servant poked his head through the doorway. Before stepping in.
"My count, the Maid you purchased has arrived." He spoke hoarsely. His eyes affixed to the ground, a blatant show of disrespect, which the count himself couldn't fault by any means. He'd… not been himself of late.
" Very well, show her around, get her situated, and find a suitable position for her within the manor." Mott thus replied. His eyes not leaving the parchment he wrote upon. The servant then sighed. " It appears she wished to meet with you, My count, post haste."
Raising an eyebrow in curiosity and annoyance. Mott sighed, as he placed his quill within its inkwell, placing a hand on his temple to thwart a growing migraine. " Very well, very well. Send her in. But only briefly." He spoke sternly, Making it known that whatever he was working on needed done, with the same haste.
Bowing slightly, the servant closed the door behind him, only to reopen it a few moments later. Which the maid he'd purchased entered, a sense of drive within her stride. Mott of course couldn't help but ogle her, she was attractive to be sure. With a gentle shake of his head, he reminded himself that this was not what he entertained her entrance for.
" You wished to see me? The count reaffirmed as the door shut quietly. Slowly, his gaze fell to her eyes. Within them he found Anxiety, Fear, and also… excitement?
"Yes, my count, I merely wanted to speak with you… of a matter of great importance." She spoke simply, raven hair nearly glowing with the dimness of the candle provided.
It was here as he stared into his eyes he found himself unable to look away, in fact, he found himself quite paralyzed. His mind slowly clouded as a strange pink glow enveloped her irises. He tried to push back, and he saw her strain as he did so. Magic? From a commoner?
That of course was not the most prudent of observations, the most important was that she was currently attempting to take over his mind, He struggled and strained against her mental grip, unable to reach for his wand. He saw her slowly give way, until she seemingly steeled herself, and suddenly he couldn't fight back anymore.
Siesta nearly fainted as she felt the amount of power she'd spent suddenly leave her body. The count was under her control now, she could feel it. She panted heavily on his floor. Trying desperately to regain any amount of breath. Before she stood. Shakily, and spoke.
"My home is with the academy, I live, and serve there, you however will send a generous donation to my family, every month. Will you do this." She spoke, her own eyes carrying a strange conviction.
The count, his mind now forfeit, dumbly nodded. " You will prepare a carriage for me to return to the academy, and you will continue on with what you were doing before I arrived." The count strained to regain control of himself, but found it useless, and nodded once more.
Siesta heaved a large sigh of relief, unable to truly believe that she'd just done such a thing.
He'd fought back, and heartily so. Had he continued his struggle, she'd no doubt would have been unable to continue her mental assault. Luckily, it seemed she'd just gotten her calculations correctly.
She took her rightful seat in a chair nearby. When a needy thought came to mind. Gluttonous as it was, she couldn't help but become attracted to the idea… if only for a couple days…
Before shaking her head vehemently, her thoughts were betraying her, and it was important to retain a sense of humility, not long ago would she have been helpless against the noble.
Now. after a heinous struggle. She'd subjugated him quite profoundly.
Yet, she couldn't help feeling that if it were a fair battle, had he time to cast a spell of any magnitude, She'd have sorely lost…
After careful study, and calculation, versed was Siesta in enchantments of the mind.. However even a brief invocation of swirling tempest or abjuration drained her… something she would need to work on, in the days to come.
For now however, she would return home.. Content with the fact that she would be able to work, and study alongside friends once more.
She couldn't contain her excitement as Mott ordered the servants to prepare the carriage back to the academy. It didn't take long of course, seeing as Siesta had of course arrived in one.
As she sat down in the seat the carriage afforded, she had to reaffirm to herself that she did indeed, just take control of a noble. She reached deep into his mind, and forced him to submit. She would need to return to make sure the effects didn't wear off. But for now?
She simply relished the feeling of freedom she could now afford.
Her family would be much more well off from now on as well.
There was truly no reason to be as anxious as she was. Yet her thoughts drifted to her mentor in magic, what would he think? Surely he would admonish her.. Not to mention Louise, who would surely string her up, or worse were she to learn of Siesta's acts on this day. No…
She would need to keep this quiet, as quiet as she could.
Should the chance arise when she can disclose the information, she would likely only tell Izaneus.
'For now.. 'She thought, 'I should probably come up with an excuse in case anyone decides to ask why I was escorted to and from the academy by carriage…'
Oh but the subjugation of Mott did come with a price, and a hefty one at that, Siesta could hardly keep her eyes open after that ordeal. She hardly had enough power to even finish what she'd started, something she would also need to work on…
When she woke up…
