Chapter 13

After talking to the Demon, they went to meet up with Julieta, who was waiting for them semi patiently.

Julieta: Took you guys long enough, what were guys doing, Snuggling or talking about your future babies…

Then they felt their faces heat up to a heavy blush.

Julieta: I'll take that as a big Si.

Melissa: Well, a little bit, but not fully yet.

Bruno notice she was getting a little nervous when she brought up babies. He had to change the subject.

Bruno: Hey, Julieta what are we planting in this garden?

Julieta: Well what about lettuce, tomatoes, green onion, onion, mint, Sage, Basil, thyme, Lemon thyme, Rosemary…

Melissa: I like some marigolds, Lavender, sweet corn, green beans, peas, carrots, cucumbers, pumpkins, strawberries, and watermelons.

Bruno: Ohh, that sounds good, but what are Strawberries, pumpkins, and watermelons?

Melissa was surprised to hear they never heard of the last three seeds she named off.

Melissa: Well Pumpkins have variations of big, and small, they're typically orange, but they could come in green or white and are usually used for decoration for a few months, then they would rot, or you can make soup out of them.

Julieta and Bruno: Pumpkin soup?!

Melissa: Yeah, Ah'I know it sounds crazy, but Ah'I heard it's good if ya like pumpkins, though ya know what's really good that's made out of Pumpkin, is pumpkin pie, no joke, it's the best, and the seeds are pretty good taa.

Bruno and Julieta: Pumpkin soup, Pumpkin pie, even pumpkin seeds?! What next?!

They said in disbelief.

Melissa: Strawberries are like small red juicy fruits that are really good. Now Watermelons are another good juicy fruit that can be quite big and it's green with dark green stripes. On the inside, it's a dark pinkish-red with black or white seeds.

Julieta and Bruno: Ohh that sounds really, really good.

Bruno: So how big of a garden do we want.

Melissa: Big enough ta fill what we just listed off. So, let's get started.

Then they moved from the parlor to outside of casita. As they were walking, they found a lovely spot outside of Pepa's room.

Julieta: Why don't we plant it here under Pepa's room. Pepa can easily help us, without realizing it.

Melissa and Bruno: Ooh good idea.

Melissa: So, ah'I was thinkin' what if we plant the pumpkins, and the corn separately from the others because they're so much bigger than the other veggies.

Bruno: So a cluster of pumpkins, and a mini corn field.

Melissa: A mini pumpkin patch Hon, but nice try. That was cute.

Bruno: If you think that was cute, I know what else is cute.

Melissa: And what is that sugar.

Bruno: You probably know what I'm going to say, but I think you're cuter than me mistaken my words.

Julieta: Guys I love you, but you guys are awkward as hell.

Then they started laughing. Then out of nowhere, Pepa's window flew open, and Pepa and Felix looked below at the group.

Felix: Hey, what are you guys doing down there?!

Melissa: We're plantin' a garden! Ya'll want ta help?!

Felix: I guess, what vegetables are we planting?!

Melissa: Come down and see, and we'll dig trenches, Hey, see if ya can find the kids, maybe they can help us. Pepa would ya like ta help us?!

Pepa: Oh, you know I would but right now I have other things to attend to!

Melissa: Ok, ya can always help us later.

Pepa: Ok, great!

Then she turned and shut the window. After a while, Felix came out with: Augustin, Isabella, Luisa, Maribel, Camilo, Delores, and Antonio.

Melissa: Nice job Felix, thank ya so much. So did ya'll come on ya'll own volition or did Felix make ya come?

Maribel: I thought it would be fun to start a garden.

Antonio: I came because I heard Tia Julieta, Tio Bruno, and you, Tia Melissa needed help.

Bruno, Melissa, Julieta: Aw, Tonito, Thank Ya so much!

Aw, Tonito, thank you so much!

Camilo: I'm doing this for the food that I might eat.

Then Delores punched his arm and gave him the nastiest look of how dare you to say that look.

Camilo: What?! I'm not wrong, and I was speaking the truth at least!

Luisa and Delores: I wanted to help.

Isabella: I have a natural green thumb.

Melissa: Ok, cool let's get started.

So they started working. After a while of working Augustin found an underground bee's nest, the bees swarmed as he tried to run away but tripped over a rock and fell into the river, it scared some of the bees away, but some of them stayed on his skin. Julieta and Melissa then went over to help him out of the water, trying to pick the bees off.

Melissa: Hey, Ah'I know this is going ta sound random, but what if we had a bee farm. If we had a bee farm, the bees probably might not sting Augustin as much.

Julieta: Hum, that might work, and we'll have free honey out of it.

Camilo: Ohh, honey?! I love honey!

Maribel and Delores: You love anything that's food.

Bruno: Yeah, just like my rats always hungry, never satisfied.

Then Pinky poked his head out and started squeaking.

Antonio: Pinky says he loves the idea of the garden.

Melissa: Tonito please tell Pinky to tell the other rats not to go crazy on the garden, until we get ours first.

Then Pinky started squeaking again.

Antonio: He said he agrees, but the other rats might not.

Bruno and Melissa: Why?!

Then Pinky started squeaking.

Antonio: He says the other rats pick on him because he's weaker and stupider.

Bruno: Is that why you've been avoiding the others?!

Pinky shook his head up and down. Then Bruno, Pinky, and Antonio came up with the same idea, looking at Melissa.

Bruno: Mei amor, will you take in Pinky for me, Please.

As Bruno and Pinky were doing the puppy dog eyes and putting their fingers together. Melissa was getting nervous, she then turned to Antonio.

Melissa: Ya can't be serious. Antonio?

Antonio: I think he wants you, Tia.

Then Pinky jumped from Bruno to Melissa and went to her shoulder nuzzling her neck, which made her giggle nervously.

Antonio and Bruno: Aw, see he likes you.

Melissa: That's great, but remember ah'I have two cats, two dogs, an owl, and a hedgehog, and those animals could eat a rat! Ah'I use ta own a rat, but how am'I ganna take care of a rat?! No offense hon.

Bruno: You had a rat?!

Melissa: Yeah long time ago, this when Ah'I was in middle school, ah'I had him for a school project, ya know about those mice, rat mazes. Well, he almost won but a fuckin paper mache volcano beat mah rat.

Bruno: See I had Pinky for two years, he was never in a cage, and he's very well trained, loves to be manhandled, loves people, and out of all the other rats he doesn't eat much. And he seems to be soul bonded to you mei amor. Please take him.

Melissa: Ok, ok ya twisted mah arm.

It was about five when they all went into the house and had a rest as Bruno, Melissa, Pinky, and Her father watched Cowboy bebop once again. After five more episodes they finally got to Jamming with Edward, episode 10.

Demon and Bruno: So, your sister acts like this?!

Melissa: When she was a lot younger, but she grew out of it. Though the nicknames stuck. But you only saw one episode with Ed, wait it gets better when the series goes on.

Abuela: Dinner everyone!

Bruno: Well, time for dinner mei amor.

Melissa: Ok, Dad ah'll try ta get ya somethin'.

Then they left for dinner. They picked their chairs right next to each other, as they sat down and started eating. Then Abuela spoke, and Felix started drinking.

Abuela: So, Brunito have you thought about bedding Melissa yet?

Then everyone was shocked and embarrassed, Felix once again spits his drink out, as they looked over at Bruno and Melissa. Bruno sucked his food too fast and started coughing, while Melissa patted and rubbed his back. They talked as he stopped coughing.

Melissa: Ya want us ta?!

Abuela: Well yeah, how else am I going to have grandchildren?

Bruno: You don't think it's too soon for that?!

Abuela: You and Melissa are getting up in age, and plus another set of grandkids wouldn't hurt.

Melissa: Ya want us ta start right away?!

Everyone was either happy about this, or very confused.

Abuela: So, how many kids were you thinking of blessing this family?

Bruno: Well I kind of wanted a big family, Mei amor?

Melissa: Well Ah'I wouldn't mind a big family, ah'I kinda want 3 kids maybe 4 but ah'I think that's kinda pushin' it.

Antonio: Wouldn't it be funny if you and Tio Bruno have three babies at the same time like Abuela.

Melissa: Well, do ta mah age sugar, it's very unlikely.

Then Antonio frowned a little bit.

Antonio: Oh, ok.

Melissa: Ah'I didn't say it's not possible, ah'I love ya'r enthusiasm hon. Ya can try ta pray for us if ya want.

Then he started praying.

Antonio: Dear God, please let my Tio Bruno and my new Tia Melissa have three babies at one time, it would be nice to have younger cousins to look after and teach things to, Amen.

The whole room was shocked, and tearing up, Everyone noticed Melissa and Bruno getting up and going over to Antonio. They bent down and embraced him. Two single tear drops fell on his shoulder. He knew they were happy tears, due to his mother, does the same thing.

Melissa: That was so beautiful Tonito. Thank ya for that prayer, if ah'I do have children ah'I want them ta be strong like Luisa, smart like Maribel, beautiful like Isabella, Clever like Delores, charmin' like Camilo, and as sweet, and kind as ya.

Bruno: Thank you Tonito, that was beautiful mei amor.

Pepa and Felix: Thank you, Melissa, that was beautiful Tonito.

Everyone: Yeah!

Julieta and Augustin: Thank you Melissa and Tonito.

Abuela: Simply beautiful.
