Chapter 4

The stay that Litzelot planned for his last day in E-Rantel, would be short. Not because Litzelot disliked the city but more because he wanted to continue his travel. He bought himself a tent with good quality and had everything neatly packed in his inventory. He didn't take breakfast and simply returned the key, to his room, to the innkeeper and left.

While walking he came across a big cloud of people and was interested. There stood five women that looked like an adventurer group, and wore adamantite-plates. He could guess, based on the gossip, that this group would be blue roses. And Litzelot had to admit, his interest had peaked. He knew adventurers with adamantite were considered the strongest.

"I should humor them. I could either confront them in this city, but that would be dumb and compromise this little role. I could also move a little back and spook them and then see what happens then. I should move a little back to that village and scare a few lumberjacks and continue to scare adventurers." thought Litzelot. It would probably take some time to be considered a threat, which would need an adamantite-team to put down, but it would be a good test. While he thought and moved away from the cloud, he had made his future plans.

Evileye hated it when her team was crowded like right now. She could barely move and view what could peak her interest. She had felt a strong presence. But the scary thing was that it was an undead. But it wasn't long before the presence was gone. Evileye didn't like it when undeads were able to sneak around her and her team. Confronting the undead here would also be a terrible idea, because of the civilians here. So she had to wave, look cute and distract herself from the felt presence.

Litzelot reached his bicorn and started to reequip his usual armor and weapon and decided to move again, with his head in his lap. It would probably take a few days to encounter and scare someone and then he would test himself against adventurers. A loud cough was heard in the forest, because a little hair of his bicorn got into his mouth and got stuck in his throat.

Blue roses decided to move to Valdirene to start trailing and attacking the dullahan. It would take three days to get there by foot, but thanks to Muller, they got horses. This would cut the travel down to one and a half days.

When Litzelot was near the village, which on the map was called Valdirene, he started to prepare. He started by building a small camp for himself. It was in a location, which would be hard to reach and even harder to spott. It consisted of a hammock, to relax, with a tent above it as protection against the weather, because he doesn't know how much it rains in Re-Estice, and he even built a small crib for his bicorn's food. A small river was nearby, even if he didnt know if he or his steed would need water, but hey better safe than sorry.

After preparing his camp Litzelot used his summon "headless horsemen", to hunt meat for his bicorn. "Headless horsemen '' were smaller, weaker and slower than dullahan. They didn't have their heads and if Litzelot remembers correctly they were searching for their missing body part. While not useful for battle, they were good for hunting down "summons" and small prey. And since he didn't want his bicorn hungry they would do just that, hunting.

While the "headless horsemen" continued hunting, Sir Litzelot himself started to look for a victim for his prank. He found the poor soul at work in the clearing and waited. It would make a stronger impression, if he strikes at night, when his victim would be tired and walking home.

The chief of Valdirene looked thin and had big rings under his eyes. He wore a simple tunic and robust pants. The village's lumberjacks once saw a dullahan and now the village was in turmoil. A few of the villagers were happy, since a dullahan, while seen as a sign of the inevitable end of life, was also seen as fair and just. While another group was terrified of the dullahan, since it was an undead. The villagers even nicknamed the dullahan to "death's champion", which was too dramatic for him. The chief had enough, after the lumberjacks refused to work in the forest for a while. The reasons varied. Some did not anger a being that was seen as a sign of death. Others feared a dullahan, since undead hate beings, that life. The chief sent for the adventurers guild in E-Rantel and he was informed that a strong team was sent to deal with the dullahan. The lumberjacks recovered from their shock, started to laugh at their scare and started to work again. But it was too late to stop the adventurer team.

In the evening on the second day blue roses reached Valdirene. They met the village's chief and got a room in his house as quarters. Blue roses then started to prepare for a good rest, before they would make their moves the next day.

Sir Litzelot had prepared himself for his victim. He decided that this time would chase his victim to the village and escape before anyone could actually see him there. This would be his best prank in this new world thus far. It would also ensure that eventually adventurers would be sent to the village.

The lumberjack in the clearing had packed all his belongings and prepared to move back to the village. A light fog started to settle within the forest and got thicker with every step. This unsettled the lumberjack. He was a young man around 16 and wore normal clothes, tunic and pants. He had heard about a dullahan and thought them to be scary stories and bad excuses. But the fog started to creep him out. On his way back he crossed a treeline so thick that you couldn't see through it.

Sir Litzelot wore the attire, which he used to scare people. He carried his head in his left hand. His eyes have purple and green flames. His teeth black and sharpened. His black armor polished and a strong flame coming from where his neck should be. His right hand carried a whip, which he would use to crack for further fear. His bicorn had red flames and, on Litzelots order, still had a little bit of meat in its mouth. He waited a small while behind a treeline, until he heard the steps of his victim.

The lumberjack continued his way with hasty steps. He got more scared every second he remained in this cursed forest. He could hear his heart pump and rattle in his head. especially the rattling becoming louder and louder. Scared he looked around, to see nothing. Now running, the lumberjack wanted to leave the forest as soon as possible.

Litzelot decided to use "Foggy presence" for the build up. It was a tier 2 spell and only increased the chance to evade the enemy, like a smoke bomb. But Litzelot often used it for dramatic effect and for building up to his jumpscare. He followed his victim and used "Perfect unknowable" to ease his victim a little bit. When the victim move again we got closer and let his bicorn stomp. This was the peek "now its time for the scare of your life young one hi hi hi", thought Litzelot. As he made his flames stronger. And used a few summons a little further away.

The Lumberjack heard the stomp of a hoof and decided to look around. What he saw shocked him. There stood the figure he would laugh about. The death´s champion, the dullahan. An extrem terrible stench hung in the air, The flames of his body, head and horse illuminating the small area. The horse standing on it hinders and has an open mouth, showing blood and flesh. The horns added to the foul looking beast. The rider seemingly carried himself with dignity while also being out for blood. In the distance he could hear more hoofs. The cracking of a whip was heard. In shock and scare the lumberjack stood there.

"Flee you fool, or I might take you to your afterlife muahahahaha.", shouted the dullahan.

The lumberjack, not wanting to die, ran for his life. He ran and ran, feeling the foul and stench filled breath of the horse and hearing the crack of a whip. Even when breathing became harder he still continued to run. He saw his village and got even faster, tears of hope running down his cheeks. He got closer and closer and closer until. . . he was in his village. The breath of the horse gone he turned and saw it again

"Be warned young one" the dullahan shouted before cracking his whip.

A big fog settled again and the being vanished. The lumberjack falling to the ground and sobbing. He had escaped.

"That should do the trick. It might have been a bit too much though. I hope he will find the coin I gave him. Sorry young one". thought Sir Litzelot. While he did like to prank and scare people, he could still get lost in his pranks and go too far. This one was, in his opinion, a prime example of this. On the other side, it would get him closer to tests the adventurers.

In the village the fog settled and the lumberjack stumbled to his home and fell in his house. HIs parents looked at him with worry. He looked like he had seen a ghost. When they heard the story they brought him to the chief. The lumberjack then got questioned by blue roses till deep in the night. When he left a coin fell out of his bag.

"Where did you find this coin?" asked evileye, couriosly eying (pun not intended) the coin. She knew that she once saw similar ones.

"I didn't know that I had this coin" answered the lumberjack, completely exhausted and only wanting to go to bed and get rid of that nightmare.

While the others slept Evileye stayed awake and thought about that coin. It had a tree on one side and an unknown sign on the other. She knew that she saw it somewhere and tried to put a finger on where she saw it. It was induced with magic and would fetch a high price on the market, even with only the weight in gold. She thought until the first sun gazed through the window and the rest woke up. Even when they ate their breakfast evileye continued to think and tried to remember.

"What is it shorty? You look more frustrated than usual." Gagaran spoke.

"I am certain that I saw a coin similar to that one. I am sure of it. If I could only know when." stated Evileye in thought.

"Then why don't you try and go through your history before you joined, because I never saw a coin like that." spoke Lakyus, slightly concerned for her small friend who usually knew everything asked.

With that Evileye got through her history while the others spoke and theorized about the last night.

While a certain group ate and thought, Sir Litzelot sent one of his "headless horsemen" to scout for potential adventurers while he himself relaxed and cleaned himself and his bicorn. After that be then though about the tournament, which would be in three and a half weeks. He decided to stay for two weeks and then move. Since he didn't need to eat he just relaxed in his camp and continued to learn from his journal. He decided to also mark his camps position on a map.

After the breakfast evileye still sat at the table in deep thought. It was hard to remember her transformation and the fall of her former kingdom. But the the thought came to the thirteen heroes. She remembered her good friend Rigrid and then her thoughts flew to the dark knight. It then clicked inside her head. Her group waiting patiently saw that and looked at her.

"What is it? Do you now remember where you saw similar coins?" asked Lakyus couriously.

Evileye begin to pale under her mask while her posture became visibly that of a scared girl

"Yo, shorty why that posture?" Gagaran spoke, inwardly the seed of doubt settling in.

"He is a player" Evileye stated with wide and not visible eyes.

AN:It might seem to be early, but how often can you throw coinage around that multiple extremely powerful beings threw around, some seen as gods and others as devils? I thought that this would open more doors and could also lead to funny moments down the line.
