Chapter 5
"He is a player". This sentence confused nearly all of the blue roses, since none knew anything about those players.
"What do you mean with a player? I don't hear anything about that dullahan being a womanizer" Lakyus spoke with confusion written on her face.
"Evil boss is right" threw Tina into the conversation
"Shorty, explain." Gagaran simply said.
"Players are travelers if you will. They at irregular intervals appear out of nowhere. They can be humanoids, demi-humans or even undeads. They have a big footprint in our history. Some of the legends we tell revolve around players. It is important to know that all of them are sentient and usually don't know where they are. All known beings which are known as players were ridiculously strong." Evileye tried to describe
"Ok. But how do you then know their currency and what do you mean with a big footprint in our history?" Lakyus asked, getting curious.
"I saw that coince once because I traveled with one player. And quite a few players are renowned, not as players, but for their strength". Evileye said
"Who did you travel with and who do you mean were players?" Lakyus continued.
"Who I traveled with is not relevant. But examples for players are the eight greedy kings and the dark knight. Most important will be to be careful when we talk with the dullahan." spoke Evileye, not wanting to face a player.
"I know that you don't want to face that dullahan, but why do you want to talk to it. It will only hate life and as an undead that dullahan can't even travel far." Lakyus spoke, remembering the anti-undead policy of the Slane Theocracy.
"Even if we wanted, the dullahan would have to face enemies that are stronger than us", Lakyus continued, about the military might of the Slane Theocracy.
"Lets try to talk to the dullahan first, if we can afford not to fight all is great.", Evileye declared. The group followed her lead.
Litzelot got woken up by the "headless horseman" he had sent to scout the village. After being told that there is a group of adventurers he got ready to meet them. He prepared his bicorn and started to move. Meeting the adventurers in his camp would not be a good idea.
After a short while he found them and moved into his path. This time he decided not to scare anyone and be more formal.
" To what do I owe the pleasure of our encounter" Litzelot spoke, trying to be polite.
" We want to know why you attacked a party and scared the people of the village", Evileye asked her team. While standing before the dullahan, Evileye could feel the strength seething out of the undead.
" The Party attacked me on my way. The scares were on one hand to keep them away from me and on the other to have fun", Sir Litzelot said with a big grin, which unsettled blue roses quite a bit.
"So, when nobody comes near the forest, you would just be in this forest without scaring them?" Evileye inquire further
" I would, after looking around for a bit, settle down and have my fun around here." Litzelot spoke, not promising anything.
While Evileye and Sir Litzelot spoke, the rest began to understand what Evileye ment with sentience. While blue roses fight quite a number of undead, this dullahan carried himself more like a confused human would. When the evening came, Evileye told them to go to the village, while she would continue to talk with the dullahan.
"So, what would you like to talk about, young kin?"Sir Litzelot spoke. Evileye was stunned at this, because it seems that he knows her species.
"How did you know about…?" Evileye stammered.
"I am a dullahan, an undead, of higher order. I can sense undeads. May they be Liches, Vampires or else." Litzelot declares.
"Ahh. Makes sense. So,what is your name? Where are you from and what will be your plans? Now that the others are gone we can openly speak." Evileye asked, now without smalltalk and reassurance for her team. If the dullahan was a player, he could be a strong help for the crumbling kingdom and if not her team.
"My name shall be Sir Litzelot. I am from Niflheim. It will not say anything to you and I plan to find out about my environment. In the short term I will try to fight in that royal tournament. After that I will look around. Maybe settle in Re-Estice of the Baharut Empire." Litzelot spoke. Since he didn't have anything to hide in that regard. This stunned Evileye, to whom the dullahan looked more and more like a human in an undead body.
"While I understand why you want to act human. I don't understand why you scared the lumberjacks" Evileye said.
"On one hand they walked in the vicinity of my camp. On the other hand, I just can't resist pranking people. Besides that I hoped to test how strong I am. That is also the reason for my participation in the royal tournament." Litzelot reasoned.
"Makes sense. How about a deal? I and my team will let you participate in the tournament if you will help us with a coming project of ours." Evileye proposed.
"What project would that be miss?" Sir Litzelot spoke.
"While Lakyus, the blond with the longsword you stared at and our leader, still talks with a client about it. We could need your strength in that regard. For necessity we could play and even provide safe travel", Evileye explained.
"Safe travel would be super. I can visit the country without problems" were Litzelots thoughts.
"Then we will speak after the tournament, because you don't seem to know the job you're offering. But I have time, therefore I agree, if I will have safe travel and participation in the tournament" Litzelot tried to bargain.
"Deal. Could you also move into the village, undercover please?" Evileye spoke. Litzelot simply nodded and held his hand out. Evileye took it and they shook their hands to their deal.
After packing his things in his inventory he rode to the place were Evileye waited. While they walked back Litzelot began to speak
"Would you like to ride?"
" Eep. I can walk" Evileye said, not liking to sit on a bicorn.
"As you wish" Litzelot replied with finality.
When they reached the village, Litzelot again walked, since he couldn't conceal his bicorn. When they reached the house of the chief, Lakyus opened the door and couldn't stop to stare at the armor. She knew this armor and realized that it was the one from the dullahan.
Paling Lakyus stared at evileye. When evileye saw the gaze, she started go explain.
It took nearly an hour to reassure blue roses and the chief that Litzelot was no real threat. If you discount his actual strength and magical abilities that is. It was a strange situation for blue roses and the awkward exchange of pleasantries didn't help either. When names were exchanged, blue roses were informed of the deal between Evileye and Sir Litzelot. Sir Litzelot would help them for safe movement, after he took part in the royal tournament.
"If this is Sir Litzelot, I should be careful. Grandfather told me stories about his pranks. But he could also be a strong ally. Let's test him at the tournament" thought Lakyus.
The next morning blue roses with their baggage, read dullahan, and moved out for E-Rantel. It would be a strange trip there. Lakyus also thought about how to explain the situation to Ainzach, Muller and Rakeshir. LAkyus thought that a personal meeting between both parties would be best. When Ainzach, Takeshir and Muller would realize that Litzelot was sentient, they would, probably, be more willing to talk with the dullahan.
Once the party was ready they moved a bit inside the forest so that Litzelot could get his bicorn. After that they moved out to E-Rantel.
