Chapter 7

After waiting for a long time they were finally through the gates. This time was free for Sir Litzelot since he was with blue roses. Blue roses didn't know how to act now. There were a few options.
One would be to go directly to the guild. With Litzelot in tow. But that could lead to terrible consequences.
The second would be to simply tell that the dullahan was dead. That would give them their pay. But the dullahan could potentially be angered, as he hates to be lied about.
They decided to go with their third option. They would arrange a meeting between the dullahan and the three clients. While this could also end extremely bad, it would give blue roses room to explain a few things in advance.
In accordance with their neat plan they brought Litzelot to their room and simply told him to wait while they arrange the meeting. And now on their way to the guild all of them had sweat on their back and their hearts pumping, yes even Evileye.

Entering the guildhouse they immediately looked for the receptionist. After a short talk they were sent upstairs to the room of guild leader Ainzach. After knocking they heard.
"Come in" and enter. There was Ainzach sitting and once he saw them started to smile.
"Did you take care of the dullahan?" Ainzach asked, astonished
"We need to talk. And you will hear us out." Lakyus said, determined. This made Ainzach suspicious.
"So you didnt. but ok I will hear you out" Ainzach spoke.
"We entered the village of Valdirene. We met with the victims and found a coin similar to this" Lakyus begann and showed a coin that Ainzach had never seen. Lakyus now signing for Evileye to continue.
"I determined that the coin must come from a so-called player. Therefore it turned instrumental to have positive interactions with the dullahan, after we determined the dullahan was where the coin came from. When we met the dullahan I started with smalltalk" Evileye started.
"You are either brave or insane," spoke Ainzach with a sigh.
"I later got a deal with the dullahan. He would help us for a later quest and we would give him safe travel and let him participate in the royal tournament" Evileye continued
"Are you insane? We can't let that dullahan walk around, swirling its head around and scaring all around it." Ainzach was now slightly angered.
"I think it would be the safest bet, since we had a spar with the dullahan." Evileye told Ainzach, who now looked interested.
"How did the spar go?" He inquire
"He defeated us without breaking a sweat. He used martial arts and spells we never heard about. And I heard quite a lot of spells in my life. He, as an opponent, is terrifying. If possible, meet him, talk to him and let him be. If he can be convinced to help, he will be a massive powerboost to the kingdom" Evileye told Ainzach
"Ok but we first get Rakshire and Muller here. One of you collects him." Ainzach spoke. After that Ainzach sent for Muller and Rakshire, whileEvileye collected Litzelot.

"Ok what do you think about this situation?" Ainzach answered. Lakyus looked slightly offended.
"What exactly do you mean?" she asked.
"Why would you make a deal with the undead, or honor the deal Evileye made with it?" Ainzach counterasked.
"Because we value our lives at least a bit. To fight him is ridiculous. Evileye described how the mission went without any discrepancy. He could also be useful in an assignment in the close future, where we could use his expertise in spells. After the assignment is a different story, but I doubt that you can find any adventurer or worker that could beat him." Lakyus stated.
"I will play along for now. But I want to see his strength in sparring. Therefore I agree with the royal tournament. It is your reputation on the line. He also should not show himself as dullahan. The last thing we want is a crusade by the Slane Theocracy." Ainzach stated.
"That is agreeable. But how will you watch the tournament to evaluate his strength?" Lakyus asked him.
"I will take a small vacation. Even if the mountain of paperwork will be enormous." Ainzach spoke

The meeting thus far could probably have gone much better, but considering that they essentially were carrying an undead through the gates, it could also have gone much worse. Once the rest was collected the real trouble begann. Rakeshir was, for whatever reason, pestering Litzelot about the spells, while Muller did the same thing for the martial arts. Ainzach meanwhile just stared at Litzelot. The whole time Lakyus developed a bad premonition. Litzelot was obviously not liked by Rakeshir, Muller and Ainzach. He didn't even give his name or any information on his abilities to them, which fed Lakyus' premonition. Lakyus signed for blue roses, that they will have a small meeting about this, as it was clear that this was not a good meeting between Litzelot and the three.
After some time, Litzelot was pestered without mercy and gave nearly nothing of any value, the meeting concluded. Blue roses then set out to prepare for their travel to Re-Estice.

"Now that they are gone…" Ainzach begann.
"... we can discuss how we can get rid of that thing for Re-Estice" Ainzach finished in his head.
" What is there to discuss? It is a threat to the population of our city. If not by himself, then because of the Slane Theocracy. IF they find that dullahan, we will have a crusade at our throat" Muller spoke his mind, remembering his oath to protect his city.
"That is not in question. But how will we do it? He was able to defeat blue roses, in a spar but still. We need to proceed with caution." Rakeshir answered. He hated the dullahan for all the spells the dullahan was able to cast.
"We first need to find out how strong the dullahan is. Luckily that is on its way. The dullahan will participate in the royal tournament. After that we will make a plan to bring it down." Ainzach spoke with finality.

It took quite some time to prepare for the trip to Re-Estice. Blue roses needed to fix a tent and fill up their rations. The plan was to rest for the day and start the trip the next day.
Sir Litzelot and Evileye were speaking about their spells, when Lakyus wanted to talk.
Sir Litzelot used this small time frame to use a cash shop item. He used "Spiderqueen" out of his hunch. A big Spider, that reached till his hips formed itself out of the scroll. A human upper body was visible. The Spiderparts were still prominent as the "Spiderqueen" had eight eyes and legs. She had black hair and carried no weapon.
"How may I serve you master?" the "Spiderqueen" said while bowing.
"I want you to use your children to spy on three people. The number can increase. The People are Ainzach, who has a burau in the local adventurers guild. Rakeshir, who is the leader of the local magicanguild. Muller, who commands the local guards for the gates, is the third. Be careful. I want them to know nothing" Sir Litzelot said. It was a hunch, but he knew when he was hated. And hatred was visible in the eyes of Ainzach.
"As you wish" said the "Spiderqueen" with a bow and disappeared, already planing out her network.
"Lets hope I am wrong. I don't like to endanger my deal with blue roses. But if they want to play that kind of unhonorable game, I shall play with them" Sir Litzelot said, hating to prepare for bad news.
After a short while an unaware Evileye returned.
"Did I hear a voice?" Evileye asked.
"Maybe mine. I looked into my inventory. If I would need to hunt on the way. It is good to know in advance." Litzelot answered, chuckling, while taking out a chessboard.
"That is right. Do we want to start with the spells after a game of this?" Evileye spoke, hoping to start to learn a new spell.
"Sounds about right. Ladys first." Litzelot spoke, signaling for Evileye to start the game of chess.
After a while, under the analyzing gaze of Litzelot, Evileye felt worry rising.
"I am sorry, Litzelot" she spoke, turning her eyes to the chessboard. Litzelot in a clear advantage in the game.
"You are sorry?" Litzelot looked at her, analyzing her. Evileye flinched a little.
"That meeting. I kinda hoped that it would work out differently. But that Ainzach would stare at you with this anger in his eyes was not what I predicted." Evileye answered. While moving a figurine on the board.
"Ah. That is no problem. Those three greeds didn't even ask for my name, interestingly. Very impolite. The question is, does the deal still stand, kin?" Litzelot asked. His Head had a purple flame in his eye. Evileye felt a gaze on her form, which seemed to analyze her.
"It still stands. It would be a shame if I would break my word, wouldn't it?" Evileye contered.
"Then let's go through with the deal. Chess" Litzelot spoke
"How far are they willing to go through with the deal? Right now the profit, by far, outweighs the risk. But when the little vampire learned a spell, would she betray me? I need to prepare." ran through Litzelots head.
"He is a player. If I can I should try to get on his good side, preferably with my party. I therefore need a good basis of trust. He could probably safe the kingdom and even defend us against evil such as the greedy kings." Evileye thought, moving her king into a position, in which he seemed safe.
"Check mate. But you get better at the game" Litzelot spoke, while Evileye stood up.
"We should go to an open field. Probably outside the city." Evileye spoke, while Litzelot simply nodded.

It took a little while to get to a fitting location. But once they reached it. Litzelot started to summon "Headless Horsemen". He described "Hoofed Nightmare" and casted it against the undead.
It and its horse fell to the ground, not even moving. Evileye looked and analyzed the spell. She didn't want to store the spell, if she could learn it. But she looked at it, and then asked if he could cast it again. What Litzelot did.
It took a while until Evileye understood every little detail. The problem was on another level. She didn't have the ability to manipulate the soul. This was needed to block the body from sending signals to the brain.
"Do you know, Litzelot, if you dullahan can control souls? There is a lot of folklore around your species, but I don't know if it is true." Evileye asked, beginning to fear that she would be unable to learn the spell.
"From my experience I would guess so. I am able to collect souls. But how far I can control them is unclear to me at the moment. Sorry Evileye." Litzelot answered. Evileye beginning to be gloomy.
"That means that I would be unable to learn that spell, since I can't control souls." Evileye spoke, getting a nod from Litzelot.
"So it seems. Then we will try "Foggy Presence". What do you say?" Litzelot spoke.
"Ok. But first let's continue tomorrow with "Vermin Bane". It is only fair, since we tried "Hoofed Nightmare" today." Evileye spoke. They soon realized that the morning started.
"We should go back, otherwise your friends will get scared for you" Litzelot spoke while smiling. Evileye nodded and so they walked back.

Once Evileye and Litzelot were back they started a new game of chess. It took blue roses quite a while to wake up, Gagaran being the last to wake up. After waking up and getting ready, they moved out. They had a long trip before them. With packages and all, they estimated the trip to last around twelve days. For Evileye this was great, since she could learn a new spell and teach her own creation. Lakyus also was happy about it. The horses were fed, Litzelot collected his bicorn, and all were on the trip.
