Chapter 19

→ Re-Cometis / Litzelot and his group ←

Litzelot and his group had reached the outskirts of Re-Cometis, when they had erected their camp. Their goal was to destroy a storage building, which seemed to be used for human trafficking. On their way to Re-Cometis a few changes happened. Opal and Lore warmed up to Litzelot, which he welcomed since they didn't jump if he spoke to them.

Zesshi had the biggest change. She was now always near Litzelot. While Litzelot liked women, he was still creeped out, even if it toned down a few pegs. She even stopped to decapitate a few animals.

While the group, aside from Litzelot, relaxed around a fire and ate their provisions, Litzelots "Headless Horsemen" went out to scout and to keep watch. Once they got a good map of their target the group planned. It was a storage building, which seemed to have a cellar. The "Headless Horsemen" even needed support from Litzelot, who then summoned "Black Cuddle Cat" to scout in the cellar. The "Black Cuddle Cat" was a big cat, with black cuddly fur and red eyes. After the Yggdrasil lore the cat would eat children, when they didn't get their christmas present. After it scouted Litzelot knew that there only was one entry into the cellar, which would stop anyone from escaping. This made it easier for him. Get the prisoners out and kill everyone else inside the cellar.

"Why didn't you cast the cat before?" Opal asked Litzelot. She immediately fell for the cat, because of the nice fur.

"Why should I have done this?" Litzelot asked.

"It is sweet, cuddly, and warm. Good for camping." Opal argued, while all else only looked dumbfounded.

"By the way. When we talk about cuddly. Once we are back in Re-Estice, I want to go out, Litzelot" Zesshi stated.

"What have I gotten myself into?" Litzelot thought, while nodding.

"So, how are we going about the quest?" Lore asked.

"Can one of you cast "Greater Teleportation"?" Litzelot looked at Opal.

"Yes. Once we gather all prisoners, we can get them out that way." replied Opal

"Then Lore will use divination to warn us if they get reinforcements. Zesshi and I go inside. Opal will use "Greater Teleportation" to get the prisoners out" Litzelot stated.

"Yes. I can get to the enemy without worrying about unwanted victims. Just how I like my battlefield" Zesshi grinned.

"What have I gotten myself into? Should I have simply killed her in battle?" Litzelot thought.

"Sounds like a plan Litzelot Sir." Opal and Lore replied.

They rested the rest of the day until after sunset.

→ Near the storage building / Opal, Zesshi and Litzelot ←

Once they were closer, Lore hid herself within a big bush and did her divination magic while the group advanced. The group meanwhile advanced towards the building. They sneaked inside and took care of a few guards in their way. The prisoners were freed quickly and gotten out of their way. Once Opal was gone, Zesshi and Litzelot moved back upwards. Once there Zesshi would block the only escape, while Litzelot would dispose of the criminals in the cellar.

The get rid of the thugs did go down without any major problem. He cleared room after room and floor after floor. In the third floor the last room remained. He entered and saw two people standing inside.

One of them covered his body with a red robe and had a rotting face. Meanwhile the other had many tattoos and was quite large. The second person also was physically fit, had no hair and seemed like a seasoned warrior.

"So you are the one that is trouble for our syndicate?" The bald man said.

"Maybe, maybe not. What do you care about?" Litzelot replied.

"Our job is to provide safety to the syndicate. Since you are destroying parts of the syndicate, you are our problem. We are here to remove you from the equation. What could you even do against me, the "Undead King" Davernoch?" The now named Davernoch asked.

"You a "king"? You are an elder Lich, therefore a joke." Litzelot replied. This angered Davernoch.

"How dare you maggot. Zero, I want to deal with him." Davernoch shouted.

"Here I thought that undead have emotional suppression, but I also dont have its effect. Lucky me" Litzelot grinned inside.

"Are you sure Davernoch?" Zero asked, unsure about the enemy before them.

"Yes. I am the "Undead King" after all." Davernoch grinned.

"As you wish. But I will intervene if it gets out of hand." Zero stated and moved aside.

"How do we want it to be done? Do I attack you or do you attack me? Are we attacking each other or are we waiting?" Litzelot provoked. Davernoch had enough and used a "Fireball" which dissipated.

"Fire Spear" Litzelot used and a flame in the shape of a spear flew towards Davernochs feet, which burned away. Without his feet and still partly burning, Davernoch started to realize that his demise was close.

Zero meanwhile threw a fist and knocked off the head of Litzelot.

Both criminals stared wide eyed onto Litzelot. Their shock was written in their face.

"Do you now realize how stupid your claim is "Undead King"? You are nothing more than a cat playing a tiger" Litzelots' head started, infuriated. Davernoch stared at Litzelot in disbelief and fear.

"Call Of The Summon" Litzelot casted and his bicorn appeared out of a dark corner of the room. It moved between the two criminals and Litzelot, who got his head and sat himself onto his steed. The bicorn then used its front legs to scare the criminals back and to get some room for its rider. Litzelot meanwhile equipped his ax, ready to use it, if his enemy would get closer.

"Now little kitten, let's start our small lesson in evaluation of danger and magic. "Nifelheims farrymen"" Litzelot casted. Zero fell to the ground. Afterwards a white version of him ripped itself from its body and disappeared into Litzelots dark purple book. Davernoch saw this and shuddered.

"What is this spell?" Davernoch asked in disbelief.

"That dear kitten is not your concern, but your turn to attack." Litzelot replied.

"Stop calling me kitten. I am the "Undead King"" Davernoch shouted.

"You are an elder lich. I have destroyed more of you than you learned people in your unlife. You are, as I told you, a child playing an adult game." Litzelot mocked.

"At least I killed more if we count the farming for the karma I wanted. Argh, that was worth it." Litzelot remembered the gruesome weeks in Yggdrasil.

"Why can't you call me Davernoch then?" Davernoch cried, feeling Litzelots patience running thin.

"Why should I take you seriously, kitten? You are an ant amongst ants. Nothing remarkable, even worse, you claim to be remarkable, kitten" Litzelot replied.

"Lightning" Davernoch casted desperately. The casted spell bent around Litzelot and flew straight into the wall behind Litzelot. After that Davernoch lost all hope.

""Smaller Magic Nullification" can be nice, can't it, kitten?" Litzelot sneered. Davernoch crawled backwards, trying to escape.

"What are you? Who are you? Why did you need to appear?" Davernoch shouted.

"Too many questions. I am a Dullahan. You don't need to know more, kitten. Now you will pay your price for your affront. "Hellflame"" Litzelot casted. A small, black flame formed and flew slowly towards Davernoch. Once it made contact it engulfed him and he burned away, leaving nothing but memories of him.

"Now it's time to move out of this terrible building." Litzelot thought, using "Teleportation" to get to the entrance of the building.

Once there he saw a startled Zesshi, who lost her disbelief quickly and jumped on the bicorn, right in front of Litzelot.

"You did let me wait dear. I want to go on a date for that." Zesshi hissed.

"How did I get myself into this? And why do I think this a lot lately." Litzelot thought.

"If I get peace, ok." Litzelot replied.

After collecting Opal and Lore, which had done their job, they destroyed the cellar and let the former prisoners of eight fingers go. They would then move towards Re-Estice, to regroup with blue roses.

→ Near E-Rantel / blue roses / two weeks after split up ←

Blue roses had done their job. They had first cleared the fields of thugs and then burned them. Sadly there were no documents to take to Renner.

After the deed was done, they regrouped and moved out.

"This went well. I hope that Litzelot and his group also succeeded." Lakyus said out loud. "Why do you ask this? They are stronger than us." Gagaran stated.

"I know, still I want to regroup with them in Re-Estice as quickly as possible." Lakyus told blue roses, who nodded.

They would need a week to Re-Estice and they would need to prepare for the trip since they didn't have rations left.

"Lets restock and then move out tomorrow." Evileye recommended, while the rest nodded.

Blue roses moved back to a good inn in E-Rantel, then bought their supplies and most of them then went to sleep.

Once most of the blue roses fell asleep, Evileye sat alone at a table. She felt cold and bored. She realized two weeks ago that the nights would turn into long grueling hours.

"I wish Litzelot was here. With him I could kill those hours quickly and the quest took only half as long." evileye thought.

She had tried many things. She played chess against herself. She played Uno, against herself. She played even more games, against herself. She told stories of the good old times to herself. Needless to say, she got bored. The nights took longer and longer every time. The loneliness and boredom drove her up the walls.

"I can't wait until I can have good nights with Litzelot again." Evileye thought.

The next morning, after all of the blue roses were awake, they moved out towards Re-Estice. They would need a week and then be regrouped with Litzelot.

→ Re-Estice / Litzelot and his group / Same time blue roses moved out ←

It took Litzelot and his group nearly a week, give or take a few hours, to reach Re-Estice. They had traveled at a relaxed speed. Once they were close to the city, Litzelot dismounted from his bicorn and let it hunt for itself.

Once they were inside the city, they moved to their usual inn and prepared to wait for blue roses. That is until Litzelot ran into three problems.

The first was that the owner of the inn asked for money, which Litzelot would need to get, since he didn't get much money from destroying the drug-farms.

The second was that Zesshi wanted to go shopping, and he had promised her to go shopping with her. This would also torture his monybag.

The third was the problem of learning to read the language. He didn't know how to read it, which could prove to be slightly problematic.

He sighted and then went to a market, to sell some potions and weapons, which he wouldn't need, and then got Zesshi, to take her shopping.

"I know Lakyus gets some money, I should ask for some of it, since I am not really a charity with unlimited money." Litzelot thought.

"What are you thinking about, dear?" Zesshi asked.

"Nothing, only my poor purse, '' Litzelot replied, not missing the hearts in Zesshis eyes, which creeped him out.

"Ohh,do we need more money, dear? I can wait for the shopping trip with you, dear." Zesshi said.

"Nah. I simply sold some stuff. Now I have enough for a while." Litzelot replied. Afterwards Litzelot experienced the most grueling hours of his life.

After half the sun settled, Litzelot and Zesshi moved back towards the inn they more or less lived in. Litzelot had stored uncountable amounts of clothing, make-up,"cute things" and even more in his inventory. He also had burned through a quarter of his money, which was more than enough to buy half of the city. Once they reached the inn, they met again with Opal and Lore. They ate their dinner, while Litzelot brought the results of the shopping trip into the room from Zesshi.

The rest of the week was planned with preparations and relaxing. Relaxing meaning different things to the different people in the group. Lore simply had fun spying around other people. Opal meanwhile simply couldn't hold back her laughter whenever she saw Litzelot and Zesshi. Those two had, more or less voluntarily, cuddled around.

→ In a mansion near Re-Estice / Eight fingers ←

Hilma Cygnaeus was an ambitious person. She had worked herself out of the brothels and made herself the leader of the drug department of eight fingers. She had platinblond hair, sickly white skin and wore white-pink clothing. She knew that this meeting would come to be, at least it was inevitable after she looked over the numbers of her part of eight finger and the number of raids.

It didn't mean that she liked the meetings. They would either accuse her or Zero of some nonsense and that would be it. Then she got a message, that the meeting would take place in a mansion near the capitol, where she found herself right now.

Once the other leaders of eight fingers reached their meeting, the meeting took place. Hilma didn't look at the other leaders, since they were meaningless to her. The only one she didn't see was Zero, which desturbed her. His absence could only mean that he either planned to ambush someone. Or that he disregarded the rest of eight fingers, which could mean that Zero planned to take over the syndicate. Both were not really good options.

In his stead another one of six arms was there. He wore black clothing with a green hood. He was pale with fallen cheeks and dark blond hair. He looked like a Vulture in Hilmas eye. She only knew him as Succulent and disliked him, since she had no control over him. While Hilma, to some extent, could control most of six arms through her drugs, Succulent never took drugs and was extremely professional, if a bit too prideful.

His appearance instead of Zeros reaffirmed Hilmas thoughts about Zeros absence. She didn't like this meeting then and there.

Another new face to this round was a skinny man, wearing red and purple clothing. She knew him as Coco Doll. She knew him, since she used his network to smuggle drugs, together with his slaves. She also helped him in the last months to get into his position.

The former leader of the slave-department of eight fingers proved a thorn in Hilmas side. He tried to harass her and even threatened her position. Sadly, for him, Hilma knew her game extremely well. She would be able to control Coco Doll through her drugs, unlike his predecessor.

"Now we head over to our next point" The leader of the human-trafficking-department spoke.

He was a tall man with dark hair and he usually wore red clothing with a black hood. Hilma knew that his name was Prespe. Hilma also knew that he took care of the nobles of Re-Estice and the Baharut Empire, if they were under the control of eight fingers. Pespe also had a reputation for being overly brutal.

"And that would be?" Coco Doll asked, cleaning his fingertips.

"I want to know why the drug-department lost so much money." Pespe stated.

"That is because some people raid the fields, which are used to farm black dust." Hilma stated.

"This only means that you are incompetend." Pespe said.

"Bastard, I know that you want to get rid of me, but two can play the game." HIlma thought while grinning inside her head.

"Not really. At the first raid the raiding party made a small mistake, enabling one of my lieutenants to escape the deadly grip of their foe. Can you guess what kind of foe that was, eh Pespe?" Hilma spit.

"Now I only need to give a few crumbs and the crows will do the job." Hilma thought.

"You had someone escape the raid and didn't tell us?" Pespe scolded, getting angrier and angrier.

"Ahh. I love it when the enemy is blind by rage." Hilma grinned inside her mind.

"I wanted to wait for the meeting. In the meantime I asked six arms, if they could gauge the strength of our problem." Hilma answered.

"What is our threat and what does six arms tell us about it." Pespe answered.

"We, meaning six arms, got alarmed by the drug-department. Once we got alarmed we decided to lay a trap at Re-Cometis and used false documents at multiple locations. From our information, the threat is dire. The raider seems to be adamantite adventurers, sadly we don't know which group. They were also able to kill Davernoch and Zero, which is the reason why I am here instead of Zero." Succulent reported.

"Thank you Succulent, if I could like you I would kiss you till dawn" Hilmas grin grew larger and larger inside her head.

"We told Zero that there was an adamantite group set loose on us. That means that someone has it out for us, and that this person has a lot of money." Hilma stated.

"The people with enough money to deploy adventures of that caliber can only be nobles, right Pespe?" Coco Doll implied, while People began to sweat on his forehead.

"What are you implying?" Pespe now shouted.

"Isn't it obvious? You tried to blame six arms and me for a problem, which stems from your department. We have a noble attacking eight fingers. If I remember correctly, nobles are your department. Are you losing your grip?" Hilma asked, showing a small grin, which only Pespe was able to see. Said Pespe grew scared and his body language showed his fear.

Succulent looked at the chairmen of eight fingers, who nodded. The chairmen only wore long red hoods. Noone knew how he looked, but that he was the running figure of the syndicate. After the brief exchange Succulent stood up and walked right behind Pespe.

"What do you have to say, Pespe?" Succulent asked, grabbing his blade and reading it to strike at the neck of Pespe.

"I always had and have a good grip on the nobles, why would any of them turn against us, if they know that it will bring their own demise?" Pespe stuttered out.

"It seems that the head of the noble-department has lost his head." The chairman said. Shortly afterwards Succulent struck, slowly cutting the head of Pespe.

"It went well, now I need to get more information, fast." Hilma thought.

"Now to the next point…" the chairman stated.
