Steven took his time wandering through Beach City. He had only been gone a year but it seemed to him as though so much has changed. The buildings look a bit taller, the sidewalk looks a bit wider, and there doesn't seem to be as many people. All the shops were closed still, though that was most likely because it is early morning. He didn't take time zones into account, but it's probably about 6 a.m., which is just before people start waking up.

'Guess that explains why nobody is around' he mused as he walked up on his dad's car wash.

He saw the van, looking fixed and fresh, and went to knock on the door as he knew his father preferred to sleep in it despite being rich. As he knocked he heard some fumbling and a frustrated sound.

"We aren't open yet! Come back in a few hours." he heard the voice of his father call out.

"Dad it's me! Steven! I'm uh, I'm back."

Even more shuffling could be heard and Steven could easily tell there was someone else in there with his father. Finally the back doors popped open and there sat his father, smiling at him nervously.

"Pearl? What are you doing here?" Steven asked, seeing Pearl sitting slightly behind his father.

"Steven! It's so good to see you! You came back so suddenly, we haven't prepared a return party or anything." she said. She was speaking while using a blanket to rub her gem, obviously trying to wipe something off.

"Yeah Stu-ball. You look so much more grown! You're hairs coming along great!" Greg said, reaching out and ruffling Stevens' hair.

Steven laughed and felt happy at the contact. "Well after fusing with you all I want is that long hair we had. It was amazing!" Steven said.

"Well at this rate I'm sure you'll have it. Say, why don't we meet up later at the house. We can get caught up and I'll bring some Pizza!" Greg says.

"Okay dad. I guess I'll just try to kill some time for a few hours. Maybe I'll visit Connie!" Steven said excitedly.

"Sounds like a plan. It's kind of early, but if it's you I doubt she will mind." Greg said.

"Well, see you then!" Steven waves as he runs off.

As Steven exits their view Greg and Pearl let out a puff of air.

"Well, that was unexpected." Pearl says.

"You're telling me. You wouldn't stop either, I was afraid we would be found out." Greg replied.

"Sorry Greg. I was just busy researching what Rose found so interesting about you." she said, rubbing her gem.

"Well, there's plenty of research left to do." Greg said, grinning.

"Indeed. It feels particularly good when you aim for my gem." she says, rubbing his thigh suggestively.

"Well Mr. Universe has a few more rounds in him. Let's see who gets tired first." he says as he closes the back doors of his van and gets on top of her.

"We both know it'll be you." she replies, her face flushed with excitement.

"True. But you'll love every second of it." Greg says as he lines up his erect dick with Pearl's glistening pussy, and rams it in balls deep.

With a cut off moan, Pearl wraps her legs around Greg while he pumps her. "YEs, Rose had it damn good diDn't she!"

Steven hummed a tune as he ran down to Connie's house. He only thought about how lucky he was that he'd get to see her. They had kept in touch via phone, and talked often. She of course was doing great in her studies, consistently earning the Dean's List every semester. In comparison he hadn't gotten any smarter, but he always had an interesting story to tell her due to his experiences out in the world. He came to a stop outside Connie's house and thought to avoid waking anyone up unnecessarily. He used his gem's powers to float up to her window and stood on the thin ledge. The curtains were closed, and he knocked firmly against the glass. He knocked a few more times after getting no response, and finally the curtains pulled back and the window opened.

"Steven?" Conney said groggily.

"Connie! I'm back!" Steven said.

Taking a second to fully boot up, Connie finally recognized Steven and lunged at him.

"Steven!"

"Whoa Connie!" Steven said as she knocked him off balance and off of the ledge.

Her gleeful response quickly turned into panic as they both fell to the ground. Of course, before anything could happen Steven floated, keeping them both from harm. As she gripped onto him for dear life, he got to feel her body through the light gown she had on. She wasn't especially curvy, but she was hard and toned.

'She must have kept up her sword training on the side' Steven thought, as her grip painfully dug into his back.

"Sorry, I forgot we were on the second floor!" she cried out.

"It's okay, I'd never let anything bad happen to you Connie." he replied with an easy smile.

They began to laugh as they hugged each other while slowly floating to the ground. They became enveloped in light which flashed and subsided, revealing them to be fused.

"Hey we are Stevonnie! Haha!" they said as they hugged themselves.

They spoke within themselves.

'Hey Steven, I'm so happy to see you! I didn't know you'd be back so soon, I would have planned something.' Connie said.

'It's okay Strawberry. It was kinda unexpected. But I wanted to see you, so I did.' Steven replied.

'This is great! Your cool and funny stories just aren't done justice over the phone. Now I can go through your memories and experience them directly!' Connie said.

'W-wait, no that isn't such a good idea!' Steven answered in clear alarm.

'Oh come, why not? Don't tell me you have something to hide?' Connie said, growing suspicious.

'No nothing like that I just uh, I may have made things seem more exciting then they were! Yeah you'll just be bored haha.' Steven tried to explain.

'Nonsense. I'm sure you wouldn't have lied to me just to look cool. Now let's go!' she said, trying to reach out to his memories.

'Connie I said no!' Steven yelled.

'Why are you being like this? We are fused and together and I want to see everything I missed!' she yelled back, frustrated.

'NO!'

On the outside Stevonnie was standing still with their eyes closed. Suddenly they started to shake and convulse, increasing in intensity. After a few moments, they screamed out 'NO!' and their fusion was torn apart violently, sending Connie and Steven to the ground, separate.

Connie quickly got to her feet and in Stevens face as he regained his bearings on the ground.

"What's your problem Steven!? Why won't you let me see what you've been up to huh? Do you have something to hide after all?!" she yelled at him.

Shaking his head to focus, he was taken aback by her ferocity. "Connie please, I told you that's not it. Just trust me okay?" he tried.

"Trust you? How can I when you won't let me do something we used to do all the time. We used to just sit on the beach as Stevonnie and talk, sharing memories and how they made us feel. You said you could handle a long distance relationship. I know how you are Steven! You love attention, and affection. You are so sweet and funny that anybody would want to give that to you. Do you have any idea how insecure I've been about us this past year?" she said, tears building up on her eyes.

"Strawberry, it's okay. I'd never do anything to hurt you, and I haven't. I've only missed you, only wanted you." he said, flashes of blonde hair and blue eyes playing in the back of his mind.

"How can I believe you when all your stories include pretty women that you have no problem describing to me? How do you think that makes me feel, a plain girl from a bum beach town, when you're talking about stylish women with beautiful eyes and hair you're partying with?" Connie said, now crying freely.

"I didn't know that made you mad, I only went into detail because you'd ask every time. Why would you ask if it upset you?" Steven said, confused.

"Because it shows how much you were paying attention to them. Never once was it just 'yeah she's okay I guess'. You always have to compliment people, and see the best in them. So yeah, I'm just a bit insecure about it and terrified that you won't just let me see. I've been so focused on school I haven't really done much else. I didn't have exciting stories or anecdotes to keep you interested. Why wouldn't you try to find someone who could match your energy and lifestyle?!" she said.

"Connie I haven't done anything like that I'm telling you!" he said.

"But you'd never kick me out of you like that before. I-I didn't like it. If you can't be fully honest and open with me, then what do we have?" she said between sobs.

"Connie please, I just want to spend time with you…" Steven said, a tightness beginning in his chest.

"I-I don't feel like you do. We fused and you shut me out. I...need to go. It's cold outside." Connie said, her tears dried up. She started climbing the wall and went up to her window, shutting it behind her.

Steven sat there on the ground in shock.

"Wha-wait, what? How did it go so wrong just now? I just didn't want her to see…" Steven said, the tightness in his chest escalating to full on constricting. He started hyperventilating and his hands curled up into half fists.

'Why can't she see I just don't want her to see me as gross or terrible'

After an hour of just standing there on the street, he began to move. He didn't know where he'd end up, but he just needed to move.
