Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Demon and the Monster. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I do not own any rights to Fairy Tale, Hiro Mashima, Kodansha and a few others that I may write about.

(Present times)

Mirajane turned to look at Chente who was busy dusting himself off. Chente hummed and turned to his friend once more.

"Your friends seem nice." Chente stated as he tapped his fingers on his arms.

Chente watched Mirajane turn to him with interest as she brushed off her dress and turned to look at her friend.

"Yes, they are." Mirajane said and turned to look at her friend as Chente tapped her playfully on the tail. "Do you have to keep doing that?" Mirajane questioned as she crossed her arms.

"Only because it amuses you." Chente said and hummed. "Besides, it's funny in my book." Chente added and clicked his tongue on the roof of his mouth.

Chente knew for a fact that things would get weirder. They always did when he teamed up… It was like trouble was taped to their backs when it came down to it.

Did make things more interesting in when it came down to it. Chente could only wonder what would happen next. He liked that unpredictability when it came down to it. The sheer unique mystery of it all made him enjoy her company.

"You remember that time you broke my arm?" Chente questioned and then turned to look to the side. "Took me a month to heal… Then my healing got better and started to make that tough." Chente stated while clicking his claws on his coat.

"Do you always think of us fighting?" Mirajane questioned while rubbing at her temples. A light smile pulling at her lips.

"Least I still remember one of the first friends I had." Chente stated and tapped her gently on the head.

"I didn't think you recalled that back then, ok?" Mirajane stated while tapping her friend on the head. "Besides, it's good to see you again. I didn't think I'd see you again when you left." Mirajane stated as she leaned on her friend once more.

"Yeah, well… I had a lot of issues back then." Chente said before tapping Mirajane on the head playfully. "Plus, you loved to wrestle back then. I didn't even have to talk you into them at times… Sometimes you just wanted to fight because you enjoyed fighting for fun. I liked fighting you because you were the only person who didn't hold back." Chente said and then tapped his tail on the ground as well.

Chente knew very well that some people regarded him as a monster. Chente couldn't blame all of them for what they felt. He didn't understand his own powers when it came down to it. Chente did know that it had its benefits.

Like meeting Mirajane. Chente didn't like their hated and fear towards him… But it did give him his best friend, he'd thank them for it. He did hate what would happen to make it be that way. But if Chente knew it would turn out like this?

Then he couldn't complain, something good came out of this in the end. He was quite happy to know Mirajane and she was one of his true friends.

"You know I still think fondly of those memories?" Chente questioned with a raised eyebrow. "Even the ones which weren't about fighting. There was so many good things about back then when times were simpler… And people didn't have to worry about things back then." Chente stated before leaning on a tree next to him.

Mirajane looked down at her friend which caused him to hum as his tail swished back and forth. He tilted his head up to look at Mirajane and tapped the space next to him.

"Do you still work as much as you do currently?" Chente questioned and then turned to look to the side. "You always used to enjoy messing with people… Never mind, that was me in the ending." Chente stated as Mirajane turned to look to the side.

She sat down next to the shapeshifter. Chente hummed and turned to her as she leaned next to him.

"Do you remember the time when we had just fought to see who would get to fight that bandit?" Mirajane asked as she turned to look to the side.

"Yes… And you got made I took a knife to the arm." Chente stated and hummed. "You never let me here the end of it… You would have taken it to the eye if I didn't jump in at that moment, though… And I think that was worth it considering I'd rather be yelled at then dealing with my best friend being stabbed." Chente said and began to curl up as he looked to the side.

Chente hummed and then his tail wrapped around them once more. He knew very well that things would be weird.

That was before the explosion ruined the moment and caused him to sigh mentally.
