Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Demon and the Monster. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I do not own any rights to Fairy Tale, Hiro Mashima, Kodansha and a few others that I may write about.

(Present times)

Chente could only ponder what caused the flames to rise into the sky. Chente hummed and flew up into the air and then flapped his wings before tilting his head to the side.

"Is fire common in this kingdom?" Chente questioned as he cracked his fingers.

"No." Mirajane stated as she flew back up next to Chente and hummed.

Chente could already see other figures moving towards this. Chente hummed and then turned to look to the side before slowly floating down to the ground.

"Should I do something?" Chente questioned while his wings wrapped around him.

Chente hummed and waved to the side as he sighed and tapped his tail on his head. Chente knew very well that the flames were much shorter. They were not a bonfire which would come down to it.

Chente brushed off his cloak as he hummed and then started to turn to Mirajane. Chente waited for her to say something as he sat on the ground.

"I'm guessing that you want me to stay put?" Chente questioned and looked at his wound which had scabbed over.

Mirajane said nothing which made her wonder what Chente was doing when it came down to it. Still? Mirajane sighed, knowing Chente would end up dealing with the situation. He enjoyed helping people which made her ponder.

Chente could only question what Mirajane wanted as she turned to look to hum.

"Well?" Chente questioned with a raised eyebrow before he grunted.

Chente felt the pain which made him tilt to the side as he hummed and sighed. The pain was staggering when it came down to it.

"Ow… Damn it." Chente stated as Mirajane looked at him.

"You had to stay here…. Please." Mirajane stated as Chente hummed and leaned on the tree. "Got it." Mirajane heard Chente state which caused him to sigh and lean on the tree.

Chente hummed and then looked to the side. Chente could only ponder what would cause the blast of flames. It didn't look like it'd do massive damage to the kingdom… But then again? It was hard to tell from a distance just how much damage the flames would do…

"So that's a no?" Chente questioned with a teasing smile pulling at his lips.

Chente looked at Mirajane who was busy wondering if there was really anything she could do. There wasn't much that he felt like doing at the moment. The wound he had still burned with pain.

Chente hummed and let out a grunt of pain while sighing. Chente tapped on his stomach which burned with pain as he looked around.

"The others will look into it… It just looks like a regular fire." Mirajane stated which caused Chente to hum.

Chente crossed his legs under him. He was very amused at how motherly Mirajane was being… Then again? She and him changed at the end.

Chente cracked a smile and looked up at Mirajane a moment later. His tail swished back and forth, knocking on the tree behind him as he looked up. This was the same woman which used to give him the fight of his life.

And judging by how she looked at him? Chente could assume she had just gotten even stronger when it came down to it.

"I'm not going anywhere. You don't have to threaten me." Chente said with a smile. "You've gotten much stronger, haven't you? You used to struggle to fly around because your wings were so new." Chente stated and watched Mirajane nod and then turn to look at him with amusement.

Mirajane leaned on the same tree as Chase as he turned to look at her with amusement as well.

"Your guild is nice. I'm glad you and your siblings found a new family." Chente said before sighing.

Chente knew Mirajane would pick up on the meaning behind his words. Chente wondered around, he didn't stay in one play when he did. There weren't many memories that he had fondly of that time.

"How long have you been moving as a nomad?" Mirajane asked as she bent down to look at his wound once more.

"A lot longer than you think, Janey." Chente said and sighed. "Why? Is that an invitation to stay around?" Chente asked with a smile.

If she offered to let him join the guild? He'd take it in a heartbeat. He rather enjoyed their time together and to make more of those memories when it came down it to it.

"Yes." Mirajane said a few moments later which made him chuckle. "Your not going anyway while your hurt like this anyway."

"And your guild?" Chente questioned with a raised eyebrow. "I'm not sure they'd feel fine about someone like me… One of them looked rearing to go over me being part dragon." Chente stated.
