"Alright, guys, we ready to go?!" Goku beamed, his palms drumming on the steering wheel in front of him readily.
"YEAH!" Goten bellowed from the back seat, so loudly everyone winced.
"Are ya seat belts on?" Goku asked, his eyes focusing on his rear view mirror, where he could see his two boys.
"Yep" Gohan chirped.
"Okay, let's go!" Goku chirped back, starting the engine and taking off from their little home in the woods. Goten pulled out his theme park pamphlet from his little back pack and began to read it for the hundredth time.
"I can't wait to get there! It's gonna be the best day EVER!" Goten exclaimed, his eyes scanning the many pictures of the different rides.
"I wonder how different it will look" Gohan spoke, "Mom said it's had some renovations".
"It says on the front of the brochure" Chichi chimed in, taking her own pamphlet out from her bag in the front, "Apparently there's some new rides, they have redone the restaurant and there's a new water feature too"
"Ooooh, it's going to be soooo fun!" Goten shrieked excitingly, causing Goku to chuckle.
"Well, it's gonna look completely different to me. I haven't been there since you were little, Gohan"
"When we went a few years ago, it looked different" Chichi explained to him, "Goten was four and they had updated it a bit".
"I can't remember what it looks like" Goten pouted.
"Aw, don't worry squirt, you will remember it after today, and you're gonna have so much fun. You couldn't ride some of the rides before, but now you're a bit taller, you might be able to" Gohan reminded his little brother, causing him to break out into a brilliant smile.
"You got the map, map lady?" Goku asked his wife. Chichi snorted.
"I'm the map lady now, huh?"
"Yes, ma'am" Goku returned. Chichi dug into her bag and found the map, folded neatly in a side pocket. She pulled it out and opened it up, ready to give her husband directions. Chichi studied the map for a few seconds, ensuring she knew where to start, before she instructed her husband.
"Okay, Goku, you need to follow this road for approximately 20 miles, and then it will be your first right. And if I remember correctly, it's going to take a good 3 hours to get there" she told her husband, her youngest son moaning in the background at how long it would take.
"Phew, glad I have you, I can't read a map to save my life"
"I have my uses" Chichi mused, a proud look etched upon her face. Goku glanced at his wife and caught her eye, and he smiled at her before giving his attention back to the road ahead. For a short while, no one spoke, they simply enjoyed the drive. Gohan and Chichi were peering out of their windows, Goten was reading about the rides at the theme park and Goku was watching the road. Gohan turned to look at his father, who appeared very relaxed whilst he drove.
"Say, dad, what's it like driving again? Especially now you have a new car" Gohan asked his father.
"Ah, it's like I never stopped. What was it you said?" he glanced at his wife, "Driving is like learning the Kamehameha, once you know how to do it you never forget it" Goku worded and Chichi nodded. Gohan chuckled, trust his mother to put it like that for his dad.
"It's nicer to drive than the other one" Goku told his son, "I like a steering wheel better than those joy sticks. And it's much faster"
"Have you tested it out?" Gohan wondered.
"Sure, remember when your mom and I went for a little test drive after we got the car? I tried it out then"
"Woah, mom, you let dad drive fast?" Gohan quizzed his mother in shock.
"She sure did! She even let me go over the speed limit!" Goku answered for her.
"No I did not!" Chichi abruptly responded, "I said let's test the speed out, I wanted to make sure we were getting our money's worth, but I did not tell you to go over the speed limit". Goku grinned.
"Yeah you did! You kept telling me to go faster! You loved it" he teased her. Chichi frowned at him.
"Gosh, mom, I never saw you as a rule breaker" Gohan teased her too. Chichi swung her head around to eye her eldest son.
"I am not a rule breaker, your father is exaggerating the story" she explained calmly.
"Pfft, lies" Goku murmured. He bit his lip, trying to contain his laugh when he felt his wife's narrowing eyes on him.
"Don't you start" Chichi warned him, her eyes returning to the map on her lap.
"Don't you start" Goku mimicked her voice with a high pitched voice of his own. Gohan chortled in the back seat, Goten suddenly interested in the gentle banter between his parents.
"I don't even sound like that" Chichi told him matter of factly.
"Yeah ya do, ya little speed freak" Goku teased, winking at his boys through the rear view mirror. Gohan grinned, knowing what his father was doing.
"I am not a speed freak".
"Aw, honey, it's okay that you broke the law"
"If anyone broke the law, it was you. You were the one driving!"
"Now that's not completely true, is it Mrs. Son" Goku chided his wife, "You had a sneaky go in the car on the way back"
"No way" Gohan choked out.
"I can drive, you know" Chichi reminded her son.
"Not legally" Goku reminded her right back, "and don't try and get out of it! You told me, 'if you haven't got a driving license, then you can't drive!'" he mimicked his wife's voice again. Chichi could barely stop the smile spreading across her face.
"Whatever" she sassed at her husband, putting a palm up to his face. Goku chuckled.
Half way into their journey, Chichi handed out drinks to her boys and smiled as Goten did some colouring on the lap tray they had purchased for him.
"You warm enough?" Goku gently asked his wife. She was wearing a light pink summer dress today, which he absolutely adored on her, her legs bare for him to see.
"I'm fine" she sweetly assured him, giving him a small smile. Goku smiled as he watched the road ahead, his right hand suddenly reaching out and resting on his wife's lap. He wiggled his fingers, motioning for his wife to take his hand. She shook her head amusedly and linked her fingers with his, holding his hand tightly as they both continued to look ahead.
"Hey, Gohan?" Goten suddenly called his brother.
"Yeah, squirt?" Gohan questioned, looking down at him.
"What does a smart aleck mean?" Gohan snorted.
"Where did you hear that?"
"I heard mommy say it the other day". Chichi overheard her young son, and she smiled.
"A smart aleck is someone who thinks they know everything, when they don't and think they are being funny, when they aren't". She educated her son.
"Oh, so, who were you talking about, mom?" Goten wondered.
"Your father". Goku had let go of his wife's hand to take a sip of his drink, which he had now spat out in disbelief.
"What?! I'm not a smart aleck!" Goku shrieked, offended by his wife's words.
"Yes you are, and you know it". Goku pouted.
"Am not" Goku argued, putting his drink down in the cup holder. Chichi held her hand out for his again and he gently slapped it away causing Gohan to snigger in the back.
"I think I'm very funny" he stated proudly, turning his nose up at her and placing both hands back on the steering wheel. Chichi rolled her eyes.
"Well at least somebody does" she told him, Gohan losing it in the back. It had been so long since he heard his parents joke with each other. He forgot how much he missed it.
A short silence reached them, Gohan just waiting for his father's come back.
"You're just bitter 'cuz you're not funny. You're so uptight" Goku told his wife.
"Oh, really?" she dared her husband to say something else.
"Yeah, you're just jealous that I'm the funny one and I'm the strongest too" he poked his tongue out at her.
"Yeah?" she questioned, turning her body so that she could face her sons behind her, "Did I ever tell you boys about the time I beat your father in a fight?". Goku cocked his eye brow, curious as to what fight she was referring to.
"You did?" Goten questioned in amazement.
"When?" Goku demanded to know.
"Your father thought it was a good idea to escape from the hospital, not long after you left for Namek" Chichi directed that at Gohan, "And I had to go and find him because your silly father was nowhere near recovered enough to be training".
"Uh-oh" Goten said.
"Yeah, big uh-oh! I was not happy with your father. Master Roshi came with me to find him, and he was led in the middle of the desert unable to move. But being your father, he was so stubborn and said he didn't need to go back to the hospital, he just needed to give his body chance to catch up. So, I challenged him to a fight".
"You did?" Gohan exclaimed, completely hooked on the story.
"Yep, I told him if he could beat me, I would let him stay and train in the desert, but if I won, he had to go back to the hospital". Gohan's gaze shifted to his father, and he could see his father almost grimacing as his mother told the embarrassing story.
"How did you beat him, mom?" Goten asked in complete wonder.
"Well, it wasn't that hard. A few punches and a kick to his stomach had him begging on his knees".
"Hey! I was not begging!" Goku interrupted, "And in my defence, I was still wounded".
"Just admit it, I am the strongest and I totally defeated you in that desert!" Gohan giggled as he watched his father drum his fingertips on the steering wheel, clicking his tongue.
"Come on, I wanna hear it" Chichi pushed, poking her husband in his side.
"You only won because I wasn't healed" Goku mumbled, playfully squatting her hand away.
"I'm sorry, I didn't quite hear that. Did you say I won?" Chichi cooed, fluttering her eyelashes at her husband, who looked at her with a smirk on his face.
"You're enjoying this aren't you?" he asked his mischievous wife.
"Yep" she crooned proudly, folding her arms behind her head just like he normally would. Goku shook his head, unable to hide his smile.
"Wow, mommy, you really must be the strongest in the Universe!" Goten declared.
"And don't you forget it" Chichi affirmed, her eyes back on the map.
"You got lucky" Goku told her.
"Whatever, you're just bitter because I beat you. The great Son Goku, defeated by his little human wife. How humiliating" she was poking the bear, and she knew it. Goku took a haggard breath and exhaled, his hands fumbling with the steering wheel as he tried to remain straight faced.
Truth is, he loved it when they played like this, but damn, she was damaging his reputation here. He could feel his wife's eyes on him, and he tried so hard not to look at her and smile. He had to get the upper hand here.
"How long till we get there?" He changed the subject, causing his wife to burst into laugher, which in turn tipped him over too.
"Gohan" Goten whispered to his brother amongst laughter.
"Yeah" Gohan chuckled back.
"Mom and dad are funny" he giggled, his little hands covering his mouth.
"They really are" Gohan agreed.
The family arrived at Funi Theme park approximately an hour later. The place was bustling with people, everyone seemingly excited as they rushed around to join queues for all the different attractions. As the Son family walked through the entrance, Goten was already gawking at all the rides he could see. He grabbed his father's hand and yanked him forwards with him.
"Daddy, daddy, can we go on that one first?" Goten squealed, pointing to a roller coaster just up the way from them.
"Goten, we just got here, let's just get our bearings and take a look around first" Chichi told her excited son.
"Aw, but mom" he whined. Goku bent down to his little son's height and ruffled his wild hair.
"Hey, we got plenty of time to go on everything, and look" Goku started, pulling some cards on lanyards from his jeans pocket, "We got passes, so we get to skip all the queues" he winked at his son.
"Really? YAY!" Goten cheered, taking one from his father and placing it around his neck. Goku stood back up and handed a pass to Gohan and Chichi.
"You can thank Auntie Bulma for that" he told his son. After Chichi found a map at the main reception, the Son family began their day walking through all the amusements, which led to the main park.
Goku and Gohan had a competitive game of shooting down the bottles, whilst Goten enjoyed fishing for ducks. Goku then helped his youngest throw bean bags at targets, which was harder than it looked with Goku's strength. It took all his self-control not to break the targets.
Goku followed Goten into the House of Fun, where the floor moved, and they had to find their way through the hall of mirrors. Chichi and Gohan were in stitches as the identical Saiyans failed miserably to find their way out. Once they finally escaped, they both entered the Wheel of Unfortune where they had to try and walk through a large spinning wheel.
Of course, with Goku being the joker that he was, he pretended that he couldn't do it and fell dramatically to the ground, spinning with the wheel, causing Goten to laugh hysterically. Chichi shook her head amusedly as she watched her husband attempt to crawl out of the spinning wheel, dragging Goten over his shoulder with him.
Goku, Gohan and Goten enjoyed the many roller coasters, though there was a handful of them that Goten wasn't tall enough to ride yet, so Gohan and Goku went on them ones alone. Chichi agreed to join them on the Water Rafter, where the family of four sat in a large round boat, which span around in the water as it bobbed along the river. There were four mini water pistols on board, built into the boat, which Goku, Gohan and Goten were happily shooting away with at the many targets as they floated down the river.
As the rafter came to a corner, Goku noticed a large water cannon, which normally passer-bys would use to squirt anyone on the river. Goku grinned and jumped out of the rafter and landed right next to the water cannon.
"Goku! People will see you!" Chichi scolded as her husband jumped into the air and landed on the grassy hill up ahead.
"Arrr, there she be! The Queen of the pirate bandits, coming me way to steal me treasure" Goku spoke in his best pirate voice, his one eye closed as if to symbolise he was wearing an eye patch, his two boys cackling on the boat.
"I swear to Kami, if you soak me with that cannon I will kill you" his wife threatened him.
"Oooh, the Queen of the bandits be a feisty one! Never the less, I won't let her take me treasure!" he bellowed, Chichi snorting at her silly husband.
"Let's get him, Goten!" Gohan yelled, aiming his mini water cannon at his father.
"This is WAR!" Goten declared, shooting the water at his father as they approached him. The three boys let loose their water cannons, Goku's unfortunately being the most powerful one, but this didn't deter his boys.
"The Queen of the bandits be highly guarded, but the great Cap'n Goku will not be defeated!" It was at the moment Goku made the foolish decision to shoot his water cannon directly at his wife, who shrieked from the cold temperature of the water and shielded her face.
"Ha-haaaah! Victory be mine, me hearties!" Goku concluded in true Pirate style. Gohan and Goten could barely contain their laughter but cautiously scooted away from their mother in the boat, her eyes narrowing at her husband who stood triumphally on the river bank.
Oooh, this was definitely war.
"You have to get back in the boat, y'know" Chichi reminded her husband in a dangerously calm voice. Goku sniggered and flew back to the boat, landing graciously next to his wife, a massive cheesy grin on his face as he sat down.
"I got you" he sang, but no more than a millisecond later, he was lifted from the boat by his tiny wife and launched into the river with a massive splash. Gohan and Goten were in tears as they laughed at their father who emerged from the river, coughing and spluttering.
Goku watched as his wife stood up in the boat and put her hands on her hips.
"Arrr, victory be mine, me hearty" she teased, a smirk planted on her face. Goku couldn't stop the smile forming on his face, and like a good sport he admitted defeat and swam back to the boat. Lucky for him, he could dry himself off with his Ki. Lucky for his wife, she may have won this time, but he knew he would find a way to get back at her later.
After the commotion on the river, the family decided to enjoy the new all you can buffet that had opened at the park. Chichi shook her head as her three boys devoured plate after plate of food, the other guests gawking at the amount of food they were getting down them.
After some food, they decided to hit the last part of the park and the three Saiyans managed to persuade Chichi to join them on the Lake of Horror. It was a spooky boat ride down a dark swamp like lake, and every now and then creatures would drop down on string, bats and spiders would spring out from the sides and air would blow from the boat on their ankles, making it feel like someone was touching them.
Chichi shrieked every time and held onto her husband's right arm for dear life, making him laugh at her cuteness.
"Aw, don't worry honey, I won't let any monsters get you" he told his wife.
"Shut up" she mumbled into his arm, making him snigger. He placed his right hand on her leg and he squeezed it reassuringly, his head resting on top of hers. For a moment, Chichi completely forgot they were on a horror ride as she contently snuggled into her husband's arm.
Their fun day had almost come to an end, but Goku had one more request as they walked back through the amusements, his sons munching away on cotton candy, his wife sipping some tea.
"I wanna win ya somethin'" Goku told his wife as they approached the High Striker.
"Oh, Goku, you don't have to win me anything" she told him sweetly.
"But I want to, and I'm gonna win the biggest and bestest prize you can get" he stated. Chichi smiled and watched as he paid the man behind the stall and took the mallet from the side.
"Okay, but please don't break it" she begged him.
"Don't worry, I will hit it really softly" he promised her with a wink. He stood at the bottom of the tower and he clicked his neck and did some pretend practice shots, his wife giggling at him. A few seconds later he gently swung the mallet down onto the lever, sending the metal pin up to the bell AT the top. Unfortunately for Goku, his softest swing wasn't soft enough, and the pin sent the bell shooting off the top and up into the air.
"Oops" Goku muttered as he watched the bell disappear into the sky. Gohan slapped his forehead at his father;s strength, Goten cheering his father on for his strength. Chichi could only cover her face in embarrassment as the many by-standers stood in shock at the display.
"Oh, Goku" she groaned, pinching the bridge of her nose. Goku laughed nervously, his one hand behind his head in true Son style.
"My bad Mr. stall man" he apologised, "but what do I win?"
"Take whatever you want" the man almost begged, so of course, Goku picked the biggest prize he could see. As the family of four made their way to the entrance again, to leave the park, they all chatted and laughed together.
"Aw, come on, it wasn't that bad. He had a spare bell" Goku mused.
"I can't take you anywhere. You either eat everything or break everything" his wife concluded.
"I won you a teddy bear though" he gently told her, nudging her arm with his elbow, flashing his perfectly white teeth at her.
"Yeah, and where do you suppose we will keep that?" she questioned him, both of them turning to look at their youngest son as he bounced happily along in front of them, a 6 foot teddy bear perched on his shoulders.
"Well, Goten seems to like it" Goku chuckled out.
"It ain't staying in our room. I don't wanna be seeing that when I wake up in the middle of the night" Gohan thought out loud. Goku frowned playfully at his son, and punched his arm.
"Man, I flex my muscles and win ya the best prize a gal can get, and ya don't like it" he pouted.
"It's not that I don't like it, honey, it's just so big" she stated the obvious.
"Maybe it can stay in Grandpa Gohan's house" Gohan wondered. Goku thought about it for a second.
"Aw, yeah, that's a good idea. Maybe on Halloween I will drag it out and scare your mom with it". Gohan chortled as his mother slapped his dad's arm hard, a whipping sound heard by all and felt by Goku.
The start of the car ride home was silent, and as Goku glanced into his rear view mirror, he noticed the boys were both sound asleep in the back seats. He smiled tenderly at the scene and nudged his wife, motioning for her to look back at them too.
When she looked back at them she pouted at how cute they were, Gohan asleep against the door, Goten led down on his lap.
"We have two very tired boys" Chichi stated, turning back around to face the front of the car.
"They were up very early, and it's been a long day" Goku guessed. Chichi sighed contently, her eyes on the road ahead of them, the sun starting to set in the distance.
"I really enjoyed today" she told him, "I missed us all being together". Goku glanced her way and smiled gently at her.
"Me too". He reached for her hand and intertwined his fingers with hers, his thumb gently caressing hers.
"I'm so happy you're home, Goku" she told him softly, her eyes on him. He let his eyes wander from the road once more, his little wife warming his heart with the look she was giving him.
They hit a queue of traffic, the lights turning red up ahead. Goku put on the parking break and turned to face his wife, shifting his massive body closer to her.
"Have I kissed you today?" he asked his wife in a whisper, his face inches from hers. She smiled coyly at him and inched even closer, her lips ghosting over his.
"No, you haven't"
"I best fix that" he breathed, planting his lips lightly onto hers. She sighed against his lips, his right hand coming up to cup her cheek, deepening the kiss. He pulled back from her slightly, his lips leaving hers, his eyes captivated by her.
"Y'know, I still have to get you back for what ya did to me earlier" he whispered.
"I don't know what you're talking about" his wife purred back innocently, causing her husband to cock an eye brow at her and grin.
"I think the Queen of the pirates might have to be chained up and made to walk me plank" he winked at her.
"How big is this plank of yours?" she murmured, closing the gap between them again.
"It's gonna be a lot bigger if ya keep talking to me like that, ma'am" Chichi giggled at her husband's words and then bit her lip in thought.
"I tell ya what, Cap'n Goku" she whispered against his lips, "I will walk your big ole plank, but only if you find me buried treasure first". Goku closed the gap between them and captured her mouth with his in a passionate kiss.
It was at that moment that Gohan decided to stir from his sleep and he gagged at what he just heard and saw. Why in the hell did he have to wake up then? He shuddered and clenched his eyes shut hard, trying with all his might to block out what just happened. Lucky for him, he managed to fall back to sleep as his parents continued to ogle at each other on the rest of the journey home.
