DO NOT SKIP, IMPORTANT AUTHOR'S NOTE (And to those few people on discord who know who you are, get baited. Gonna be fun watching you mald.)
I've been going back and forth about whether or not I should post this. It's been over a year since the last update, nothing exciting has happened yet, and everyone has just kinda forgotten this story exists. And honestly, that's kinda in my best interest. But I still wanted to get something out about the current situation anyways, on the offchance there's anyone who still remembers this thing that doesn't talk to me on discord.
First thing's first, this story is on hiatus. Not dead. There is a difference. I still fully intend to continue writing this story...eventually. And the people who talk to me on Discord know this, because I discuss my plans for this fic almost daily. It's not dead, and that's not just me being high on copium.
Next thing I wanted to discuss is the last chapter. The general consensus was "had some issues, but was still decent," so I just wanted to clear things up and let it be known that no, no it wasn't. It was bad. The dialogue sucked, the characterization sucked, it was a bad chapter that did not meet my standards of quality, and I'm ashamed I let myself upload it. So I'm rewriting it. From scratch. And that leads me into my next topic:
My plans for this story have changed. A lot. I haven't gotten far enough for it to be a major issue, but the currently published chapters are still outdated nevertheless. And that means I have to remaster them to fit the newer iteration of the story. An example of this is Saten and Uiharu being removed from the previous chapter since I no longer have much use for them in the future.
And that brings me to my current situation. Right now, I'm at a bit of a crossroads. I could just continue the story, and put a nice big banner at the top of the next chapter stating that I'm aware of any possible retcons or story elements that aren't properly set up, and that the previous chapters will eventually be fixed later. The other option is to fix those chapters first, except I'm kinda lazy and will probably try putting that off even longer than just writing the next chapter. Regardless of what path I take, it could take anywhere from the next two hours to the next two years for the next update. My biggest problem is that, as much as I like storytelling, I hate actually putting those stories on paper. And I'm too much of a perfectionist to let someone else do it for me, which has locked this story in a sort of purgatory for the past year.
If you're reading this for the first time, and are just now learning that this story is on an indefinite hiatus...sorry about that.
