Just a little something following the end of the Granola arc, where Goku is given his father's scouter to keep, and he takes it home with him :)

Chichi sighed as she sat at the kitchen table with her half empty tea cup, her eyes staring up at the clock on the wall, indicating it would be time to start cooking dinner soon. She knew Goten would be home soon, but her mind was more preoccupied with her husband. She hadn't heard from Goku in over 2 weeks, since he and Vegeta left with those Heeter guys, she hoped he was okay. They were strange alien folk, and there was something suspicious about them.

She sighed once more and got herself up from her chair, taking her cup with her to the kitchen sink. She sipped it some more, before placing the cup in the sink, and she was about to turn on the oven when she felt a presence zip behind her. She jumped and turned around, her one hand clutching at her heart, her eyes then realising her husband had used his little magic trick to transmit himself into their kitchen. It was a handy little technique of his, but it always scared her to death!

"Goku, you're back?!" Chichi exclaimed, clasping her hands together in front of her.

"Hey, Chichi" he gently returned. Chichi ran up to him and wrapped her lithe arms around his large torso as far as they could go, squeezing him tightly. He encased her small body in his large arms in return, a gentle laugh escaping his lips at her onslaught.

"Oh, Goku, look at the state of you! What on Earth happened out there? So much for the World not being at stake!" she gently scorned him, pulling back to look up at him. Those were his last words to her before taking off with Vegeta and those Heeter folk. Son Goku's all but famous last words, of course.

Goku gave her a warm smile, so warm she completely lost her train of thought.

"Goku, is everything okay?" she gently asked him, her dainty hands resting on his hips, her thumbs brushing up against his torn Gi.

"I remembered" he told her.

"You remembered what, honey?"

"I remembered my dad"

Chichi's mouth fell open, her eyes wide in complete shock. Did he just say what she thought he said?

"Your dad?" she questioned him a few seconds later, her eyes still wide as she stared up at him.

"Yeah" he chuckled out, her shocked expression quite amusing.

"How? I don't understand" she asked him, slightly baffled by his disclosure. Goku gently removed her hands from his hips and took them into his own, leading her to the sofa that was located just off the side of their kitchen. He sat down and pulled her down next to him, her wonderous eyes never once leaving his as she waited for him to tell her more.

"Well, when we was on Planet Cereal fightin' Granola, we met a Namekian called Monaito. Granola was out for revenge against the Saiyans, because of what they did to his people a long time ago an' his mom was killed, but Monaito said there was one Saiyan who didn' earn his vengeance, 'cause he saved them" Goku started to tell her. She nodded eagerly, urging him to continue his story.

"Monaito said his name was Bardock an' that I was the spittin' image of him an' asked if I was related to him. I said I was raised on Earth by my grandpa, so I didn' know any other Saiyans, and that's when Vegeta told me that Bardock was my father".

"Oh my goodness, honey. That's incredible!" Chichi gaped.

"Crazy, huh? We found out then that it was actually the Heeters who were the bad guys an' my dad fought one of them back when he saved Granola and Monaito, an' he managed to defeat him"

"I knew it!" Chichi exclaimed, "I knew them Heeters were fishy! I shoulda known there was no sky gold" she muttered.

"Sky gold?" Goku wondered, cocking an eyebrow.

"Never mind, what happened next?" Chichi prompted her husband.

"We had to fight against the guy my dad fought. His name was Gas an' he was super strong 'cause of a wish from the Dragon balls, we were no match for him. I managed to buy us some time, so we could get somewhere safer an' think of a plan, so Monaito took us to to his place an' ..." Goku trailed off, letting his wife's hands go and digging into the sash of hi Gi. Chichi watched curiously as Goku pulled out some sort of technological device.

"He gave me this" he finished, allowing her to have a better look at the device. Chichi recognised it instantly, recalling Bulma using one at Kame House, back when Vegeta first came to Earth.

"That's a Saiyan Scouter, isn't it?" she asked. Goku smiled.

"Yup, Monaito said it was my dads an' maybe we could figure out how to play any saved data on there, to help us figure out how to defeat Gas. Granola's lil' robot friend called Oatmeal, was able to play back some audio data for us an' I got to listen to my dad's voice!" Goku beamed.

"Oh, Goku" Chichi gently spoke in awe for her husband, her hands lovingly squeezing his knees.

"It was so crazy being able to hear his voice. But he said somethin', about Monaito stayin' alive, an' I dunno, I just felt like this jolt up my spine, an' it was like I was right there, Chichi, inside my Saiyan pod as a baby! An' I saw him, I saw my dad! an' he was tellin' me to stay alive! Just like he told Monaito!"

"His voice and those words must have triggered those memories for you!" Chichi suspected excitedly.

"Yeah, I guess so. An' after we listened to the audio, Monaito said my dad left the planet, but left his scouter behind. An' then more memories hit me! I remember seein' him, all beat up, I think I was in a birthin' pod or somethin', at least that's what Vegeta called it. But, guess what!" he chirped.

"What?" Chichi questioned him animatedly.

"I saw my mom, too!" he buzzed, a huge smile on his face.

"You saw your mom?!" Chichi gasped out. Goku nodded eagerly.

"Oh, Goku! Was she beautiful? I bet she was beautiful!" Chichi gazed at her husband, completely awestruck. Goku chuckled.

"Yeah, she looked strong an' she had crazy, spiky hair like me, too! But I look exactly like my dad, just like Monaito said. Y'know how you all think Goten looks just like me?" he questioned, his wife nodding to him, "Well that was me an' my dad! We could be twins! Except, he had a big scar on his one cheek" Goku described.

"Wow, honey. That's amazing"

"I remember seein' them a few times in our house, I guess. An' I remember my mom takin' me out of the birthin' pod an' they put me in some armor an' stuck me in the pod I crash landed on Earth in. She looked really sad sendin' me away" he recalled.

"Goku, they were obviously sending you away to protect you! Your father was telling you to stay alive, your mother was sad seeing you go! Honey, they sent you away because they had to! They didn't just abandon you on Earth because they didn't want you, like you thought they did".

Goku stared down at the damaged scouter in his hands, a wondrous look upon his face. He never dwelled on the reasons behind him being sent to Earth. He was found by Gohan, who adopted him and became his grandpa and loved him dearly, and that was enough for him. But after marrying Chichi and settling down to have Gohan with her, he often wondered why his parents abandoned him as a baby. He remembered thinking he could never do such a thing to Gohan, so it made him think they must have been bad people, and that they didn't care about him, to do that to him.

He felt a gentle hand on his cheek, his eyes drifting from the scouter in his hands, to the eyes of his little wife.

"Are you okay? How do you feel about this?" she asked him softly.

"I think so, I guess i'm glad they weren't such bad people an' that I wasn't just dumped on Earth 'cause they didn' want me. I know it never really mattered, 'cause I had my grandpa an' then I had Master Roshi an' my friends. Then I had you" he told her softly with a smile, "but, it feels good knowing". Chichi smiled back at him, her hands resting on top of his in his lap as he held his father's scouter.

"He made a wish to the Dragon, too. He wished that me an' my brother would end up thrivin'. Guess my brother wasn' so lucky with that, but I was"

"Well, you both survived your planet being destroyed. And anyway, your brother was a pig, and he stole our baby and you had to sacrifice your life to kill him. He got what he deserved" Chichi scowled. Goku stifled a laugh at his wife's words and her cute little frown.

"This is amazing, though, Goku. I'm so happy for you" she told him sweetly.

"Thanks" he returned with a heart throbbing smile, causing a flutter in Chichi's chest.

"Hey, how about we put your father's scouter next to your grandpa's Dragon ball? You should display it proudly! It's a piece of him, after all" Chichi suggested enthusiastically. Goku smiled even bigger, if possible.

"Yeah, I'd like that" he told her. Chichi bounced up from the sofa and practically ran over to the sideboard in their kitchen area, where the 4 star Dragon ball sat proudly on a small, purple display cushion. Chichi bent down and opened the cupboard, searching for something as Goku approached her.

"Whatcha lookin' for?" he asked her curiously.

"I kept a spare cushion in here, just in case anything ever happened to the one the Dragon ball is on. Nothing ever did, so the spare one is still in here somewhere" she finished as she rummaged through the items in the cupboard. A moment later she found it and she triumphally declared this before standing up again. After closing the cupboard doors, Chichi rearranged the sideboard, to make room for his father's scouter. She placed the cushion on top of the sideboard, next to the 4 star ball.

"There you go" she prompted her husband to place the scouter on the cushion, to which he did instantly, but carefully. After placing it on the cushion, he stood back and admired it for a few moments. It was a little damaged and dusty looking, but he didn't care, it was his father's scouter and he felt elated that he got to keep it. Chichi buried herself under his arm and wrapped hers around his lean waist. Goku smiled down at his wife and cuddled her against him in.

"I think it looks perfect" she commented.

"Yeah, me too. Thanks, Chichi, you're the best" he told her honestly, planting a sweet kiss to the top of her head.

"You're welcome, honey" she whispered against him.
