Hi guys, this is chapter 5, I'm almost at the point where we left off the last time. Hope you guys enjoy this chapter!
Chapter 5: Leon vs Takeru

"My"
"Vanguard!" With that the match between the two began
"Guidepost Sage, Elron!"
"Bubble edge Dracokid!"
At that the field was suddenly filled with water, to reflect that Takeru had just entered the land of Aqua Force, with undersea ruins being shown by the amplified projections of the arena's technology. Behind Leon, a small green dragon, and on Takeru's side a mage.
'Ok, so it's not Dagger Master…' He thought.
"Here we go everyone!" The caster began. "The match between Kousaka Takeru of Kai Rebirth, and Souryu Leon the world champion! Who will win? And who will lose?"
"Get him Leon!" Some of the crowd cheered.
"Get rid of that coward's student!"
"Yeah! Screw the coward!"
"I bet he sucks!"
"Yeah!"
The words though, had an impact on Takeru who started to shake his hands a bit. He knew that they were going against him, but he did not expect that it would be this bad. He tried to focus on the game and try to space out the crowd but he would be surprised at who spoke in his defense.
"SILENCE!" At that shout, the entire stadium quieted down, and the Royal Paladin player looked up, he was surprised that Leon had spoken up like that. "This is a place for Cardfighters to prove their mettle! To let the wind blow with their passion and their love for Vanguard! To cheer for one side or another is fine, but no one is allowed to throw insults here and get away with it. AM I CLEAR?!" After a moment of grumbling they all quieted down and went into the match.
"A-anyway! L-let us return to the match!" The caster said, as he didn't expect Leon to just go off like that.
"Ride! Blue Wave Dragon, Submerge Dragon, I move Bubble edge behind my Vanguard, I end my turn."
As the dragon gave way, another one appeared in a show of the Vanguard circles collapsing on each other, a blue dragon ready for battle.
"Draw," the Royal Paladin player began, he had taken a bit to orient himself after Leon's shout, but he recovered enough to play, "ride! Little Tactician, Marron! I move Elron to the bottom left, and behind Marron I call Wingal Youth!"
As Elron opened his tome, the mage started an incantation, as a portal appeared and two units appeared, one a mage with a robe and a blue wizard hat, and behind him Wingal, one of the faithful companions of Blaster Blade as the blue dog readied to support.
"Wingal boosts, Marron attacks your Vanguard!"
The mage then prepared their spell as lightning went forth towards Submerge.
"No guard."
"Drive check!"
(Drive Check- Knight of Friendship, Kay)
"No trigger."
"Damage check".
(Damage check- Tidal Assault)
"Since the attack that Wingal boosted was successful, I can use their skill, I look at the top 7 cards of my deck, and if there is a Blaster Blade there, I can add it to my hand. Sadly I don't have a copy in the top 7, I return it to my deck and shuffle. I end my turn."

"Stand and draw." Leon began his turn as he looked at his opponent.
'Blaster Blade huh?' he thought as he had a nostalgic smile, but it faded as soon as it appeared as he readied his card.
"Ride! Blue Wave Marine General, Starless! And then call! Tidal Assault, Coral Assault, Bright Shooter!"
As Submerge was covered by the collapsing Aqua Force symbols, a man had taken his place, he was wearing a white sailor uniform as he had his trusty armament on his hand, to his right was a sailor wielding two identical blades, and to his left, a young Aquaroid with a small weapon as in front of him was a man in a sort of aquatic motorcycle.
"Tidal Assault attacks Marron!"
"Margal guards!" Was the reply as a red robotic hound took the sword hit to protect the mage.
"Bubble edge boosts, Starless attacks your Vanguard!" Was the declaration as the sailor fired at Marron.
"No guard!"
(Drive Check- Ice Floe Angel-Heal)
"Heal trigger! I give the power to Coral Assault."
'He gave the power to Coral?' Takeru thought as he flipped up the top card of his deck, with it glowing yellow.
(Damage Check- Scion Rider- Critical)
"Critical trigger! I give all effects to Marron!"
"Normally, you'd give that power to Tidal…" Satoshi commented as the Kai Rebirth students watched.
"Yeah, it's like Leon-san knew he was going to get a critical." Bella muttered.
"Hey, he IS the world champion after all." Rekka smiled as she entered their observation booth.
"You sure you should be here?" Claire asked.
"It's going to be a while anyway, and it's boring waiting at the backstage, so why not here?"
"You do have a point." Sakuya muttered as they got back into the match, and saw that Leon had used up Tidal's skill to deal a third attack, while using Coral Assault for his last one with Takeru not guarding.

"I end my turn, Coral Assault's skill, there were four battles this turn, so I move it to the soul, I draw a card and end my turn."

"Stand and draw." Takeru began. "Ride! Stand up, my avatar! Blaster Blade!" At the same time as he said it though, Marron nodded as lightning appeared from nowhere and struck him, and in his place, was the holy knight himself with his white armor and familiar sword.
'Blaster Blade.' Now that the unit itself was in front of him, Leon's smile became noticeable as Takeru asked.
"Leon-san?"
"It is nothing, please go on."
"O-Ok…" He said as he proceeded with his turn. "Blaster Blade's skill. I retire Tidal Assault. And then, call! Knight of Truth, Gordon! Knight of Friendship Kay! With Kay's skill, counterblast, I superior call Bedivere from my deck!"
As the knight slammed his sword into the ground, and sparks flew towards and destroying Tidal, a man with a fencing sword appeared to his left, and to the right, a knight who wielded a spear like weapon who then readied to support as a man wearing two blades appeared.
"Alright, my field is ready." He smiled. "Elron boosts, Gordon attacks your Vanguard!"
"Theo guards!" Leon immediately answered as another sailor, though this time with a rifle started shooting at Gordon to prevent them from getting closer.
"I attack your Vanguard with Blaster Blade! Gordon's continuous skill! Blaster Blade gets 5000 power during my turn!"
"No guard!" He said as Starless braced for the immediate counterattack.
"Drive check!"
(Drive Check- Floral Paladin, Flogal- Critical)
"All right!" The other Kai Rebirth people and Rekka cheered.
"I give power to Bedivere, and critical to Blaster Blade!"
At that the knight just charged directly, and after raising their sword and a battle cry, slashed straight through Starless, and it was a lot too, as even Leon had to back up a little as he felt it, even if the units appeared in front of them, the power of their imagination still makes them feel it.
"Damage check."
(Damage Check- Blue Wave Dragon, Tetra-Drive Dragon)

"Since my attack hits, I use Wingal's skill, I check the top 7 cards, add Blaster Blade to my hand, move Wingal to the soul and shuffle my deck."
"Kay, follow me!" Bedievere called out as Takeru rested both of them.
"Yes sir!" And they both were able to deal yet another hit onto Starless.

"Heal trigger!"
"This is amazing!" The caster said. "Souryu Leon has just been dealt 4 damage in one turn! If it wasn't for the heal trigger, he would have been in dire straits!"
"Turn end." Takeru said with a smile.

"Stand and draw." Leon began his turn not even fazed by how much was dealt to him. He then revealed a card in his hand. "Turn my emotion into a swift raging gale! Come forth like a shooting star in the night sky! Ride, Blue Wave Storm Dragon, Tetra-Torrent Dragon!"
As he did, the water swirled around Starless, becoming bigger and bigger before it just faded away like it didn't happen, but in place of Starless, was a dragon towering over the Paladins, as the artillery cannons on its shoulders appeared it then begun to aim at Takeru as his comrades rallied.
"Answer the wind's call! Magnum Assault, Penguin Soldier! With Penguin's soulblast, I draw a card."
Appearing in front of Bright Shooter, a dual gunner that is holding their weapons, while to the right of Bubble Edge, a small penguin appeared with two signal sticks.
"I call Foivos" And at that another dual gunner though this time wrist cannons, appeared in front of the Penguin. "Bubble Edge's skill, I move it to the soul, and give Foivos a skill!"
"Magnum Assault attacks Gordon!"
"No guard." Takeru said
"Tetra attacks your Vanguard!"
"No guard!"
"Twin drive check, first check, draw trigger! Power to Foivos! Second check, nothing."

The dragon then let loose its cannons as the highly pressurized water struck the knight.
"I attack your Vanguard with Foivos! Skill activate, counterblast, he gets 2000 and stands at the end of the battle."

"Foivos, attack Bedivere! This is the fourth battle, so I draw a card." He declared as he destroyed the other rear-guard. "I end my turn."

"As expected of the world champion, even when just dealing two damage, he has disrupted the board of his opponent by taking out their rear-guards!"
"Stand and draw." Takeru began as he looked at his hand, it only had a copy of Flogal, Blaster Blade, Holy Knight and 2 Alfred Early's.
'I don't have much of a hand at all. And his field is still full.' He thought. 'As I thought… he is-'
"Keep fighting." He heard a voice as he looked around.
'W-where did that come from?' he thought before he heard it again, and this time, he looked at where it was, from his cards.
"Keep fighting, my Vanguard." They encouraged.
'But what can I?' As if reading what he was thinking his cards started taking a strange glow.
"W-what's going on?" He asked confused.
"We can hear you, my Vanguard, and we will fight with you, every step of the way." At that the Alfred copies in his hand suddenly changed, and from it a new symbol and all.
'W-what just happened?' he thought as his eyes started glowing, and as if like a sponge, he somehow knew what he needed to do.
"Those eyes…" Leon smiled, and while he did not know what was coming, he knew that Takeru was going to do something unique.
"See the king in his younger days as he blazes a trail with his knights. Ride! Alfred Early!" He called out as he placed the card in his Vanguard circle.
As Blaster Blade raised his sword up, he turned into bits and in his place was the younger version of the King of Knights himself, ready to hit the fray. However…
"The power is 13000?" The world champion wondered.
"I use Alfred Early's skill!" He said as he paid a counterblast. "Stand up one more time, Blaster Blade!" He said as he called it in front of Elron from his soul. "He gets 10000 and I draw a card. And then!" Near his G-Zone, a bunch of cards began to materialize, and he picked up one of them and showed it to Leon. "Imaginary Gift, Force!"
"IMAGINARY GIFT?!" The people who were watching asked in shock.
"With this marker." The boy's eyes continued to glow. "I place it in the circle Blaster Blade is in. The Imaginary Gift's effect, during my turn, all the units in it get 10000 power."
"W-what is this?! Kousaka Takeru has not only rode into a new Alfred Early! But it has a base power of 13000 and an Imaginary Gift!"
"Hey? Isn't that illegal?" One of the people asked.
"Well, the system registered it as fine, so the card must be official."
"Did he just say 10000?!" Sakuya asked in shock. "That means that without a boost, Blaster Blade has 30000 power!"
"That's honestly awesome." Claire commented.
Watching from the stands though, Asuna was watching and she was cheering him on.
"Come on Takeru." She cheered.
"And then, Stride Generation!" He called out as he placed it on his Vanguard circle. "Gancelot Peace Saver!"
After Blaster Blade returned Alfred raised their sword as the future version of the Solitary Knight appeared, ready to fight on behalf of his king.
"Call!" he said as he placed a card in front of Kay. "Floral Paladin Flogal!" A pink dog this time who is ready for battle. "Kay boosts, Flogal attacks your Vanguard!"
"Intercept!" He said as he used Magnum to block the attack.
"Gancelot Peace Saver attacks your Vanguard! Skill activated, countercharge, drive plus 1!"
Leon looked at his hand and realized that he needed to guard this attack.
"Generation Guard! Guard Leader of Sky and Water, Flotia!" He declared as a woman appeared and created whirlwiinds to block the attack.
"Skill activated, it's the second battle this turn, so shield plus 5000! And then guard!" He said using a critical before sliding in his other rear-guard as well to help intercept.
"Quadruple drive! First check, nothing, second check, nothing as well." At that the sword of Gancelot broke through the shield, but as it lacked enough strength it backed up. "I'm not done yet, third check! Critical trigger! I give all effects to Blaster Blade! Final Check, Heal trigger! I heal one damage and give power to Blaster Blade!"

"I'm not done yet! Blaster Blade attacks your Vanguard!"
"No guard." He replied as the knight struck true at Tetra.

At that Leon drew an extra card.
"I'm not done yet!" He called out as he paid a counterblast. "I return Flogal to my deck and stand Blaster Blade! I attack your vanguard!"
As the knight came forth once more, a man appeared with an emerald-colored barrier as he created it in front of Tetra.
"The wind will blow eternally! Perfect Guard! Emerald Shield, Paschal!"
"Turn end."

"Stand and draw." Leon began his turn. The wind blew magnificently from his opponent. And yet he feels that the gale is still lacking in power. So as he made his resolve to see how much his opponent truly desires to win. He will bring out his ace to test them. "Wind, convey my feelings. Wind, lead me to my destiny! Stride Generation!" He called out as he discarded the Tetra-Torrent he added. "Blue Wave Marshal Dragon, Tetra-Boil Dragon!"
As he called that Tetra-Torrent transformed, unlike before when they stand on two, this Tetra stands on fours as cannons litter its entire back, all ready to tear into their target.
"Stride skill!" He said as he paid a counterblast. "Bright Shooter and Penguin Soldier acquire a skill! Call, Foivos in front of Penguin Soldier, Magnum in front of Bright Shooter! The wind will blow 6 times! Bright Shooter boosts, Magnum Assault attacks your Vanguard!"
"Intercept!" Takeru replied.
"Skill activated, counterblast, I stand Magnum Assault, power plus 2000. I attack your Vanguard with Tetra-Boil! Skill activated!" He said as he paid a counterblast and flipped another copy of it face up. "In exchange for a twin drive, I gain a skill, then stride skill, when my Vanguard attacks, I stand Bright Shooter, power plus 5000!"
"No guard!"

"Critical trigger, I give the power to Foivos and critical to Tetra- Boil!"

"Takeru-kun's at 5 damage…" Sakuya said as she then clasped her hand in a praying stance. "Come on Takeru-kun, you can do it."
"Have faith in him." Rekka patted the girl's shoulder. "You all made an entire day studying Leon's attack pattern right?" The students and alumni nodded. "Then just believe that he'll pull it off."
"I attack your Vanguard with Foivos! Skill activated, I stand them at the end of the battle."
"Guard!" Takeru said using Scion.
The gunner tried to make way but a bug rider appeared to block it.
"Bright Shooter boosts, Magnum Assault attacks your Vanguard!"
"Generation Guard!" He called out. "Great Flash Iseult!"
This time, the other gunner was blocked because his target was protected by a lady with a white shield.
"Bright Shooter's skill, I return Tetra-Torrent to my hand, and then, Tetra-Boil's skill!" He said as he discarded it. "The soul that's been passed down is my pride and power! Come forth again from the blue wave! Tetra-boil Dragon!"
"Leon-san has used the skill of Tetra-boil to stand it again! Kousaka-senshuu is in a dangerous predicament!"
"Dragon that emerges from the blue wave, cast stern judgment on the one who stands before me! Ultimate Explosion!" He called out as the dragon roared before firing at Alfred, creating an explosion.
"Takeru(-kun)!"
However, when the smoke subsided, they saw that he was fine, and that in front of him, Holy Knight had appeared, creating a barrier with one hand, and smiling.
"Perfect guard!"
Leon was surprised at it, but his turn wasn't over yet, so he flipped up the next two cards.
"Twin drive!"

"Double trigger! I give all the power and critical to Foivos!" He declared as he healed. "I attack your Vanguard!"
"Lien!" Takeru shouted out as he successfully protected himself. "With a soulblast, perfect guard!"
The wrist cannon gunner, ready once again, aimed and fired, but the water spirit appeared and blocked his attempts at attack.
"I end my turn." Leon said with a smile. It was the first time he played against Kai's student, but he knew, not just in the wind, but with the way he played, that they had studied him, that they had learned all they could about his playstyle.
"NICE TAKERU!" Claire cheered.
"Come on Takeru-kun! Clench it and bring it home!" Sakuya was cheering as well.

"Stand and draw." Takeru declared as he reset his entire field.
'I have one shot, and I'm going to take it!' he thought as he discarded the Sicilus he had from earlier. "Stride Generation! The king himself descends into the fray! Alfred Holy Saver!" He called out. "I use Elron's skill!" He said as he paid a counterblast. "I call Flogal, and then I call Star Hope, using Star Hope's skill, I superior call Wingal Youth behind Blaster Blade, power plus 3000! And then Alfred Holy Saver's skill!" he discarded a card from his hand after flipping up another copy of Alfred and paying a counterblast. "Blaster Blade gains 3000 power and twin drive!"
As Alfred raised his sword up, one by one the knights and allies of Royal Paladin heeded his call.
"Takeru's going for broke." Satoshi realized. "Come on Takeru! Get them!"
"I attack your Vanguard with Star Hope!"
"No guard."
(Damage Check- SuperSonic Sailor-Critical)
"Critical trigger! I give all effects to my Vanguard!"
As the trumpeter played their instrument, it did deal pain for the dragon before it suddenly roared in power.
"I attack with Alfred Holy Saver!"
As the king charged, Flotia appeared once more, using the water around them to protect Tetra-Torrent.
"Generation guard! And then, intercept!" he said as he sent Foivos to the guardian circle.
"Triple drive!"

"Draw trigger! I give the power to Blaster Blade! And then, Wingal boosts, Blaster Blade attacks your Vanguard!"
"Guard!" Leon said using both Jet-Ski Rider's from his hand.
As the two ski riders appeared in front of Tetra, Takeru reached for his deck.
"The difference is 51000 to Takeru's 43000." Claire commented.
"If Takeru-kun wants to end this, this is his only chance." Bella added.
"He can do it!" Sakuya said with finality. "We all worked hard together to make sure he was able to prepare, and he'll do it!"
"Twin drive!"
(Drive Check- Luminous Light King, Alfred Oath)
"Second check!"
"Come on, pull it!" Asuna was hoping from the stands, same as the other Kai-Rebirth people.
Takeru though slowly reached out for it, but once his hand hit his deck, he held it, and then flipped it over, smiling as it glowed yellow.

"Critical trigger!"
"Yes!" The Rebirth people along with Rekka cheered.
"I give all effects to Blaster Blade!"
The knight then cut through their targets as they were able to strike Tetra-Torrent as the dragon screamed in pain, Leon's damage showed no heal.

"It is my loss. What a marvelous wind." Leon congratulated.
