Chapter 11: Feu Noyuer Aftermath (Keith's POV)
Keith looks at Kim. Trying his best to remain professional and not get angry at the guy for wanting to beat him up.
But what did the guy want? Chloe's heart? Well he failed and if this was his way of trying to get her to fall in love with him, double fail. What did he expect after he didn't defend her after the Despair Bear incident.
Apparently for life to go back to normal and for Chloe to forget that he was the only one to stand up for her.
It makes him sick, but he has to be a hero, and heroes don't let their private lives interfere with their work.
So he reaches down to help Kim up. "Who are you? How did I? I got akumatized again didn't I?"
"Don't worry, your akuma did barely any damage and no civilians were hurt. I am Marmora and the lady heroine beside me is Honeybee."
Chat Noir smiles, "I'm glad these new heroes came. I was becoming quite exhausted from dealing with Akumas on my own. Thank the stars that whoever gave me my miraculous finally decided to choose new partners. With Ladybug gone, I'll gladly accept you as a part of Team Miraculous."
Keith sighs with relief. He had hoped Chat would not be mad and demand where they had been for all this time.
"Anyways, we're just glad that you're okay. I had to break your headband to get rid of the akuma though." He adds.
Kim shakes his head, "That's okay! Without Ladybug it seems the city can't clean itself so I understand. Besides, you guys look so cool! I'll definitely be getting your merch when it comes out!"
Keith smiles awkwardly. To be admired as a hero, but then hated in his civilian life, is weird. As a member of Voltron he didn't have a mask or a false name. His civilian life and his hero life were one and the same. But now he has got to learn to keep them separate. Like Chloe told him, they can't be all boyfriend and girlfriend as heroes. They have to look single and not in love.
So if he had to choose to save someone, his first choice shouldn't be Chloe in her heroine form.
Which is kind of hard. He has grown to really love her as his girlfriend, and putting that love aside is going to be difficult.
News reporters flood the scene and he leaves Chloe and Chat to do the talking while he makes sure Kim is still okay. He seems fine but he asks anyways, "You okay? Those reporters came out of nowhere."
"Yep I'm fine. You can leave. I'll be fine on my own."
"Look, you were just purified! And without the way it's normally been done for a month! I can't leave you to your own devices without making sure that the improper way to purify isn't going to affect you negatively in some way!"
Keith then gets embarrassed. If Shiro ever found out that he was nice to someone who he didn't get along with, he wouldn't believe it.
"I'll be fine." Kim replies stubbornly, "The other akuma victims who were purified this way didn't have anything bad happen to them."
"I'm just making sure. Don't want to leave any loose ends, and as a hero it's my job to make sure civilians are safe."
"I get that it's your job, but I'll be fine, let one of the…"
"I won't. In fact I'll escort you home to make sure you are indeed safe."
Kim rubs his neck, "Fine," He stands up and leads Keith to his home through the winding Paris streets.
Adrien's POV
Adrien tries his best, along with Honeybee, to answer the reporter's questions. But they keep coming too fast. He looks around and notices Marmora's already gone. Damm! He wanted to talk to the other feline hero and Honeybee about things regarding their superhero lives.
Maybe Honeybee knows how to contact Marmora. He grabs Honeybee's arm and excuses them from the reporters.
Adrien stops when they are in an alleyway.
"Ummm. Chat you okay?"
"Yes, it's just I couldn't wait to talk to you about…." "About our superhero team?"
Adrien nods, "Yeah that."
"I know that I've been at it longer…."
"Sure you can be team leader."
Adrien stutters, "Wha..What?"
"That's what you wanted to mention right? That you be the Team Miraculous leader because me and Marmora are new. Which I get, and to be honest I'm glad for it. I bet Marmora would be too."
Adrien rubs the back of his neck, embarrassed. He honestly thought that he would have to make it like his and his lady's partnership. Where they were all equals. But it seems that Honeybee and Marmora trust him to be an adequate leader.
Which he is not. Ladybug was more better at thinking than him when it came down to the fights, he was just there to have her back and to help out. But now he has to lead two inexperienced heroes who were like him at the beginning.
Which was so much, on top of his fathers wants for him to be perfect, school and his friendship with Keith and Chloe. Too much to juggle all at once.
"Hey," Honeybee says while putting her arm on his shoulder, " We'll figure this out together. Whether through storms or sunshine we'll have your back team leader."
Adrien smiles, mildly reassured that he could in fact handle leading two new heroes.
