Chapter 12: Riposte(Kagmi's POV)

She had better things to do than challenge an elite sword member. But her mother insisted that she get into D'Agrencourts fencing school. To really prove that she is the best fencer everywhere, and she lost.

Her mothers idea had come crashing down in an instant when that blonde girl opened her mouth and pronounced Keith the winner of the duel. Keith had said that he thought she had won, and wanted a rematch.

She would have loved to participate in another match but her mother wouldn't have approved. She looks out the window sighing, couldn't, just once she have some actual fun with fencing?

She loves the sport, but she is supposed to be competitive and be the very best. Not have fun with it. Not be buddy buddy with her opponent.

But she wants that rematch so desperately. So fight with Keith a third time, to enjoy it, to enjoy fighting an opponent as skilled as her at fencing.

Suddenly a voice speaks to Kagami, "Riposte I am Hawkmoth. I can give you the chance to be the best fencer and to have that rematch. In exchange, bring me Chat Noir's, Marmoras and Honeybee's miraculous."

"Yes, Hawkmoth," Kagmi says. She feels power flow through, and though her appearance has changed, she doesn't care. Now she'll get to have her rematch with Keith!

She opens up a hole in the roof of her car and searches the streets. She reaches Keith's car and cleaves it in half with her sword. She boldly proclaims, "I accept your offer of a rematch!"

Keith stares at her boldly, "I will not fight you while you are akumatized."

Angered, she moves to attack him, to force him to fight, "Riposte before you attack him take Chat Noirs, Honeybee's and Marmora's miraculous! You can attack him later."

Reluctantly she agrees, but she's about to put her sword away, someone tanks it out of her arms. Kagmi turns around and snarls at the honey bee themed hero who had her sword. Why that hero, she took my sword! My best weapon for attack and defense!

Honeybee smirks, "I don't have a sword, so I think it's mighty unfair that you get to fight with one. Don't you agree, Chat?"

Chat Noir nods, "Not exactly purrfect odds if we were to face you with your sword."

Angrily, Kagmi reaches out her hand and the sword comes flying down to her. She then attacks Honeybee with a flurry of blows. Honeybee swings her spinning top to block her attacks which makes her angry. Then she hits something solid and is surprised to find Chat Noir holding his baton up to save Honeybee. She strikes him and that forces him to also attack. His baton acts like a fencing sword as they strike blows.

But she gets the better of Chat and knocks his baton out of his hands. She strikes a blow but it slashes into the air. She realizes Keith saved Chat from her blow.

Furious, Kagami goes to strike them both, but Honeybee swoops in to save Keith while Chat runs to grab his baton. She focuses on trying to get to Chat before he reaches his baton. She aims to slash his back but he turns around just in time to deflect the blow with his baton.

She gets him on his back and pushes hard on his baton.

"Give up little Kitty, and hand me your miraculous."

Chat pushes sideways making her fall off balance and onto the pavement. It doesn't hurt, but then Chat punches her in the face with a right hook. It makes her lay on the ground on her back. She feels where he punched her and it stings. She hopes up and says, "Is that all you got?" Honeybee comes up to Chat Noir and punches her in the stomach, "Venom!" She freezes. I can't move, I can't feel anything. She tries to break free but her body does not respond.

She sees Keith limp up behind them and he looks sad and guilty. She pushes Keith out her mind, she has to get that rematch with him. Otherwise mother will be furious, she can't tolerate failure.

She has to break free, but she doesn't know how to. If Ladybug were here, she wouldn't have been defeated so easily by them. Because Ladybug dosen' have a stinger that paralyzes foes like Honeybee. Damn it all!

Chat takes off her sword and breaks it in half with his bare hands and knee. Like how you would break a stick.

"Cataclysm!" shouts Chat Noir and the akuma he captured in his hand turns to dust. Everything fades to white and she collapses.

Kagami opens her eyes and is flustered to see Honeybee and Chat Noir sharing a fist bump while Keith stands to the side. How did she get here? The last she remembers is being on her way home, and is Keith limping? He wasn't limping before when she said goodbye to him.

Eventually he kneels down and helps her stand up. Her legs feel wobbly and her head feels light. What had she done, it feels like she's ran for miles or something. But if the heroes are here, that must mean she's been akumatized.

But if that's the case where's Marmora, shouldn't he be helping his teammates? Unless his civilian life has him busy, which could be true.

"You okay?" Keith asks her, letting her stand on her own.

"I think so, though I don't remember…"

"It's probably a good thing you don't remember slicing my car in half," Keith jokes lightheartedly.

"You mean I sliced your car in half?"

"Yep. Anywho I'm up for that rematch anytime, you know. Just make sure you aren't akumatized."

"I won't be. I also look forward to our rematch whenever that may be." Kagmai says, truly looking forward to her rematch with Keith. "I'll see if I can get Monsieur D'Argencourt to have it, because honestly I can't think of anyone better to fill the spot we have open. Here's my number,"

He gives her his phone. Kagami takes her own phone out of her pocket and types in Keith's number. "Thanks."

"No problem Kagami."

"I've got to go, it seems as if my car with the hole in the roof is here." She says awkwardly. She climbs into the car, watching as Keith waves in goodbye.

She smiles, no one in her family has given her a second chance. Was this friendship? The thing her mother forbade her to have as it could ruin her performance. Well she likes this "friendship" that Keith has demonstrated.

Her rematch is definitely going to end in her winning.

Keith's POV

"Why didn't you transform!" whines Roaar as Keith sits on his bed, careful of his ankle. He lies back and puts a pillow underneath his ankle to keep it elevated.

"Chat Noir and Honeybee had it covered, besides it wasn't like I exactly had the time to transform somewhere with them watching." Keith replies as he puts the ice pack he grabbed from the kitchen freezer on his ankle. The ice soothes his foot, and he turns his attention to his kwami.

"Though there are some brownies in my bag you can have."

Roaar's eyes lit up, "Brownies! You mean I can have them now?"

"Of course," he scoffs. How dare Roaar think that he wouldn't feed him.

"Can you grab it though, Roaar? I don't want to move my ankle."

Roaar quickly lifts up the flap on his bag and dives in, and brings out the bag of brownies he freshly baked this morning.

"So Kagami huh?"

"What about her? I was just trying to be nice. Besides Blondies my girlfriend." Keith states matter of factly with a hint of anger. He opens the bag and gives the kwami a brownie while down on his bed.

"I was just asking! Afterall she strong and fierce like you,"

"But that doesn't make her a good partner! Chloe completes me, she has qualities that I don't and I have qualities that she doesn't have. It balances us out. If I were with Kagami we wouldn't be complete because she's like me! It wouldn't work out."

"You seem to have a lot of knowledge for someone your age," Roaar says in awe.

"Well I did spend most of my time alone, with zero friends, so that meant reading and watching cartoons , anime, movies and playing video games." Keith spits out angrily. He hates those years because they were the one with his brother, the first person to believe in him since his father had died.

If it wasn't for his brother he would have never found Adrien, Chloe, Chat Noir and Roaar. He finally has friends outside his brother and it wasn't because they were forced together to form Voltron. This was a natural friendship where no one was forced to be together because of fate and destiny.

Sure the other paladins and Alurra and Coran did become friends. But it was nice to bond with people he wasn't forced to interact with.

Roaar curls on his chest, eating the brownie in silence, "Sorry Roaar. I shouldn't have gotten angry. But remembering those times, where I shunned people, it makes me angry that I ever thought I didn't deserve friendship and love."

"So I didn't mean to take the anger out on you."

Roaar looks at him, "I understand.I just thought maybe you needed some silence."

"You, silent? Hah!" Keith laughs. Roaar being silent! What a thought. Roaar ideas are still funny. Like the time she wanted to give Kim a good scratch for wanting to drown him. Ah, that idea, if carried out, Roaar would be violating the rule that kwamis can't be seen in public. And that would lead to him having to explain kwamis and that was just not worth the effort.

He watches Roaar eat her brownie, give a big yawn and curl up on his chest to sleep. He smiles and turns to the window, watching the sunset.
