Chapter 28: Decisions, decisions(Marinette's POV)

Author's Note: This takes place at the same time as Chapters 26 and 27

Marinette takes off her helmet, just what did the ship want? "Pidge, did you study the ships movements?"

Pidge pushes up her glasses, "It seems they were trying to study our reactions rather than actually hurting us…"

"Then why would they shoot at you two! You weren't fighting them! We were!" shouts Lance, pissed. Marinette sighs, "Obviously they wanted to see how we reacted to them not engaging in the fight. If we'd protect them or not. Still, why send out a lone ship to recon what state Voltron is in?"

Pidge replies, "Perhaps they have something they want to do and are making sure we can't interrupt their plans,"

"Well I did manage to slip a tracking beacon on them…."Marinette says.

"Should we go after them?" asks Hunk.

"If we want to find out what they are planning" Pidge, again, reponds.

"Still it's odd that they'd want to figure out how good we are even if…" Marinette trails off. She puts her hand under her chin. What would be the best solution, go after them, guns bazing when Allura, Lance and I don't know how to pilot our lions very well, or wait until they get comfortable with their lions?

"Even if what Marinette? They wanted to test us, no matter what reason! We should follow them." Allura argues.

"But does everyone else want to follow the ship? And besides you, Lance and I haven't bonded or learned how to control our lions yet. Should we really take that risk?"

"We still should! To stop whatever they're planning against us! And whatever they plan to do!"

Silence fills the room. It makes Marinette uncomfortable. Lance also looks uncomfortable, but he speaks up anyways, "Allura, I…."

"'I what' Lance?"

"I don't think we should go after him." When Allura shoots him a glare Lance continues, "I am mad at them for hurting Pidge. But Marinette is right. We aren't ready to face them yet. And I doubt we'd be able to form Voltron."

"But what if what they have planned is worse than today's fight?"

Marinette takes a deep breath, "Allura it's discussed. If Lance had agreed with you I would have led you to the ship, but he also agrees that we aren't ready."

"But you said that in War we don't have time to mess around! And now you're saying that we have time?!"

Marinette rubs her temples, "Allura. I said Voltron couldn't be without a Black Lion pilot, not that we don't have time to train me, you and Lance. Pidge and Hunk can free planets while we are still training, so we are not losing time. Think logically about this."

Allura huffs and walks away, presumably angry.

"I also agree with you, Marinette. What me and Hunk saw in the battle is proof enough that we aren't ready to fight that ship. It will take us a while to get used to this team setup." Pidge says.

"Thank you Pidge,"

Hunk looks into the distance where Allura stormed off, "I hope Allura's okay."

"Hunk, she'll be fine. She's a Princess after all. She knows how to keep her emotions in check."

Hunk doesn't look the least bit less worried, "If you say so Lance. But she looked down when the Black Lion didn't choose her, and now you and Marientte are undermining her authority."

"Hunk, me and Allura are equals now. Besides in teams everyone has a say about what to do and…"

Coran rushes in, "Marinette, Princess Allura has taken the Blue Lion!"

Marinette gasps and so does the others. Allura, you stupid fool! Going off on your own when no one is ready to follow that ship! Just because Allura is a Princess doesn't mean she can do her own thing whenever she doesn't get her way!

"Pidge, Hunk, Lance get to your lions and follow Allura, Coran follow us, but stay far enough away where we can call you for backup if needs be."

Marinette goes to her elevator, thinking, Allura I hope you know what you're getting us into!

Allura's POV

Allura follows the red dot on her screen. Marinette is a fool not to deal with the enemy right now, when it will cause problems later. Like her dad said, he made a mistake by not standing up and fighting against the Galra instead hiding the lions.

She will not let Marinette make the same mistake. Instead of doing nothing, it is time to act. Regardless if they are ready or not.

That lone ship shouldn't be a problem anyways. They must have tried it during their battle. So it's not like she is going to be in danger or anything.
