Chapter 29: Mist and Mirrors(Allura's POV)

Allura pursues the ship, like a Malveor hunting its prey. She ignores Marinette asking her to turn around and give up the hunt. That ship could be dangerous, so they must deal with it now, rather than later.

"Allura please, we have to turn around!" Marinette again pleads with her.

"Marinette, that ship is the enemy and if we don't deal with it now, it could hurt us in the future," She finally replies, tired of hearing Marinette plead to her to turn around.

"But it could hurt us now! That ship was wise enough to go, when it still could have battled us! Don't you think the enemy is smart enough to use what they've learned in our brief fight together to our disadvantage?!"

"No, they won't, if we deal with them now." Allura stubbornly replies, not knowing she is being stubborn.

"But we aren't fit to deal with them now! I barely flew Red before piloting Black! And Lance has been going really slow with Red, afraid of it's speed! And you don't have any fighting experience with Blue!"

"Pfffft. We'll be fine."

Marinette gives her a look of annoyance.

"Fine, but we are coming with you! Whether I like it or not. Because you can't do this on your own."

Allura hides her smirk, so Marinette realizes that we should deal with this enemy right away. Good. It will make taking down this ship so much easier.

As they get closer and closer to the ship, a giant planet of red gas comes into view. Allura dismisses it, thinking that they will surprise the ship before they have a chance to use the gas to hide in.

But the ship speeds up, causing Allura to dive straight at it, with the jawblade already out. Before she can destroy the ship, however, they go straight into the planet's atmosphere. Red gas blinds her vision as she tries to take out the ship. But it dodges every one of her blows with Blue's jawblade, until it escapes her line of sight.

Curses, she thinks as she fires Blue's laser while spinning around trying to get the ship. Allura plunges deeper into the Red mist, unable to find the ship when her systems go offline

She pushes the steering sticks, only for the lion to be unmovable. Pushing the com link button makes nothing happen, so Allura can't get in touch with her teammates.

If only she'd been faster, if only she took out the ship right when she got to it, instead of following it waiting for the others to show, if only…..

Marinette's POV

"Allura!" Marinette screams again, after seeing her dive straight toward the ship and the gaseous planet. "Pidge, Hunk, Lance, we need to find Allura and get her out of that planet. Forget about the ship, our first priority is finding Allura and bridging her out of that planet."

"Marinette, my scanners indicate that going in the Red gas will interfere with our systems. Should we really take the chance that we all might not make it out of there?" Pidge asks.

"Of course we do! Besides, if the gas will interfere with our systems then maybe it could be a good hands-on bonding experience with our lions, like Allura wanted." Lance replies before Marinette can speak. His voice sounded mocking after the 'of course we do!'

"Lance is right," Hunk states, "We can't just leave Allura in there with that ship. She's inexperienced with this type of thing. We can't leave her on her own."

"Nicely said Hunk and Lance."

Marinette is the first one to plunge into the depths of the planet. Red gas blinds her vision, and it blinds her. She'll never be able to find Allura this way.

Standing up, she says, "Lucky Charm!"

A closet mirror appears in front of her. Now what the hell is she supposed to use the mirror for?!
