Chapter 33: Reflection Part 4(Allura's POV)
I led them to this planet! I led them into a trap! I should have known better, I should have! But instead I let my emotions get to me, consume me. Tears fall down Allura's cheeks as she realizes what she has done to her friends.
She led them to a planet that is inferring with their systems, it's all her fault.
If only she had listened to Marinette's sound judgement before striking off on her own, leading her friends to this gaseous planet.
But it's what she thought was best to do. So why did it turn out this way? Did the ship see them before, but Allura thought she had kept herself well hidden? But if that was the case, her friends wouldn't be stranded on this gaseous planet, because of her mistake.
She is a Princess! And Princesses aren't supposed to make mistakes! So why then, did she? Was it because she had spent ten thousand years in the Cryo Pod sleeping? But her last memory was of her father and her old life, so that couldn't be it.
Allura wipes her wet cheeks, still thinking about how to fix the mess she made. It doesn't seem possible to escape this planet. If the lions aren't working then that means there is little probability of getting off the planet.
Oh why had she made such a dumb mistake! She couldn't have thought rationally like Marientte did. Oh no! She had to screw up her idea, proving Marientte right and she wrong.
Allura hugs herself, no she didn't make a mistake, she didn't! She didn't! She's a Princess of the greatest ruler Altea has ever seen, there's no way she can make mistakes. No way she can afford to!
As the last living Altean with Coran it is her duty to make sure their race is represented in the others' eyes. Which means she can't afford to make her race look bad because of this mistake! Or any mistake! Like leaving Voltron with Keith because she thought Zarkon was tracking them through her.
It was so silly to think that! Back then. And it was silly to not rationally think of the situation after the first battle with the lone ship. Silly! She should have known they were not ready to face a ship yet! Yet Marinette did. Marinette noticed.
And she wasn't a Princess like Allura. She should have been good at reading the situation but Marinette one-upped her when it came to reading the situation.
It makes her mad that she couldn't have read the situation well to know that it was foolish to continue the fight against that ship when they didn't have their lions figured out or how to form Voltron with the team. Foolish!
Yet she went after that ship anyway. Why? Was it because she was angry at not becoming the next Black Paladin? And that Marinette got the spot instead? Was it because she missed Shiro and Keith and couldn't handle keeping her emotions in check for weeks? Did she finally break emotionally?
That was probably it. She had finally reached the breaking point emotionally with everything going on. But why? Allura was used to that, as a Princess one must conceal their real thoughts, their real mood, to give the public what they wanted to be seen and heard.
It aggravates her to know her emotions finally controlled her so much that she stopped thinking rationally. But then again, everything had moved so fast, Shiro had died, they saved planets, formed the Voltron Coalition, Marinette is chosen as Black's Paladin, and then the lone ship comes, and they fight it, then it retreats, they talk about what to do next and she flies after the ship, and then gets Voltron stranded here in the gaseous planet diving after the ship to reach it before it got to the planet.
But what can she do? Allura's just one person. She can't get Voltron off this planet alone. Perhaps using some Altean Alchemy might help. Her father said that Altean Alchemy comes from using the quintessence all around us. But there are limits to what it can do. Oriande is the only place to learn how to use Altean Alchemy to the fullest and to know it's limits.
Oriande…..
Allura shakes her head, focus on the problem at hand. There must be a way to get off this planet. But how? If Blue's and the other lions systems are offline there's no way to get off this planet. Unless….
She folds her legs in a criss-cross, puts her hands on her knees, and closes her eyes.
She begins to meditate, to focus.
Allura tries to bond with the Blue Lion, by trying to see what it sees. Inhale….Exhale…..Inhale...Exhale...Inhale...Exhale…..Inhale...Exhale….Inhale…..
Exhale…..Inhale….Exhale…..Inhale…..Exhale….
After minutes of taking deep breaths, Allura opens her eyes, finding herself seeing the gas planet through Blue's eyes. It shocks her, and her focus lackens, bringing her eyes back to viewing the pilot room of Blue.
She did it! She begins to focus again, diverting all of her energy to making the Blue Lion come online. Inhale…..Exhale….Inhale…..Exhale…..Inhale…..Exhale….Inhale...Exhale...Inhale….Exhale….Inhale….Exhale…..Inhale….Exhale…..Inhale…..Exhale…..Inhale…..Exhale…..Inhale….Exhale….Inhale…...Exhale….Inhale…..Exhale…..Inhale…...Exhale…...
