Chapter 40: Training is Now in Session(Adrien's POV)

Master Fu looks at him, "We best start your training now."

"But I told my father I was only going out for a walk!" Adrien exclaims. And he didn't want to make his father angry, again. Considering his father still seemed to be in a bad mood, for some reason. Because father was still badgering him about piano and how Keith is doing better than him and blah.

"But you are already here. And I am afraid if we wait any longer, your training will be delayed. If something bad happens to me, I need you to be somewhat ready for my responsibility, even if I haven't finished training you. It is better to be prepared for life than unprepared."

"Fine. I know Honeybee's identity and she can be my alibi if my father wants to confirm where I have been instead of trusting my word."

Adrien pulls out his phone, it's a good thing Honeybee is Chloe, otherwise I would have to make a story and then force my friends to back it up without explaining anything to them.

"Is it alright if I say what I am doing?"

Master Fu replies, "Of course. You know each other's identities, there's no need to keep secrets."

That was surprisingly easy to ask. Unlike whenever he asks his father for things, such as hanging out with friends and being able to go places without his bodyguard always following him, it's like pulling teeth.

He texts Chole: The person who gave us our miraculouses is training me to become the next guardian of them. I need you to pretend you're hanging out with me so my dad doesn't get suspicious.

And he hits send. Then he begins to text his father:Change of plans, I saw Chloe and we're hanging out together. Is that okay?

After sending that text he slips his phone into his inside pocket as he does not want to keep Master Fu waiting.

"Alright Adrien. It is time I teach you the secret language of Guardians….."

"Secret language?"

Master Fu nods, "Yes. The Order of the Guardians founded the language so that only the members of the Order would know the secrets of the miraculous and guide young heroes into unlocking those secrets, while some were never shared."

"But why all the secrecy?"

"In order to protect the miraculous from selfish beings, such as Hawkmoth, we needed a way to keep the secrets a secret. Thus a language was born that has aspects of all languages, in order to make it difficult to understand to outsiders of the Order."

Adrien nods. It makes sense, plus learning a new language won't be too difficult, as he knows French, English and Chinese.

Though hopefully they can finish his training before something bad happens to Master Fu.

"Now let us begin…."

Marinette's POV

"Alright, Lance, Allua, and Marinette. This exercise will test the bonds of your lions. As you need to see what your lion sees." Coran tells her and the others.

No pressure, Marinette thinks as her vision goes dark. Stay calm you can do this.

After all you got out of that Gas Planet didn't you?

She makes the lion dive forward. See what the lion sees. Shouldn't be hard right? Inhale…..Exhale….Inhale….Exhale…Inhale…..Exhale.

Focus, focus on seeing what the lion sees. She hits something on impact, and she groans. Must have hit the ground. Why didn't she see what the lion saw? She was focusing and trying to bond.

"Lance and Marientte, you'll need to work on seeing what your lions see and Princess good job."

Of course Allura would get it on the first try. Afterall she did…No! Allura just bonded with her lion quicker is all. There's nothing to get worked up about. It'll take time, Shiro's bond to the Black Lion was the strongest.

Afterall Shiro did fight for it against Zarkon.

"Well Pigtails, it seems you and I will be stuck doing the exercise all over again." Lance says jokingly.

Marinette nods, smiling. At least Lance isn't sour about it. And honestly ever since that Lone Ship fiscao she was starting to doubt if she could be a good leader of Voltron. Since Allura didn't trust her to make her own decisions.

But she had been through worse, like kissing her partner to make him stop fighting against her. That was gross, especially since it was her first kiss and it wasn't with Adrien. Not that she didn't like Chat, but she wanted her first kiss to mean something…

Marinette shakes her head. That's in the past, it's time to focus on being the leader Voltron needs her to be. Besides, she has led before. Like coranting plans to take the akums down. So this should be a cinch.

She failed three times afterwards. What was it about this exercise that was so hard for her to get? She was focusing, trying to bond with Black. Trying to let Black bond with her. So why was it not working?

Lance interrupts, "This method of bonding with our lions isn't working for us like it did for Allura."

"I can see that."

"Then maybe we have to bond with them in a different way. Allura did say that the pilot of the Red Lion has to earn it's respect. But I don't know…." Lance trails off in thought.

"Well it's a start. I don't know how to make you get the respect of the Red Lion though. And I don't know how to bond with my lion."

"Maybe it would be better if we tried bonding with them while we're fighting Galran ships and Galran occupied planets."

Marientte nods, "So it would be more bonding in the moment instead of trying to force it. That could work. But before that, I think we should work on our teamwork skills. As this setup is relatively new."

"Yeah, I agree. It's going to take a while to get used to this."

"Well then it's settled."

Though it still bothers her that the exercise didn't work, at least for her and Lance. But maye what Lance said is true. That these lions bond with us in a different way. Though that would make us vulnerable as we don't have the ability to tap into our full potential. But they can get through this together, as they are a team.

Author's Note: Sorry this took a long time to get posted, as I had an idea for the start of their training, but could never really write what I liked with it. So here's the finished product and yes Lance's and Marinette's bonding with their lions is going to be hard. As the Red Lion knows Keith is out there and Black can see Shiro whenever he wants in the Astral Plane. Anyways, I hoped you enjoyed this recent chapter and a wonderful night:)
