Chapter 44:The Rising Water Situation Gets Worse(Keith's POV)

Damn the water is still rising. And there's no sign of Chat or Honeybee. And that akuma isn't anywhere either, Keith thinks as he looks out into Paris. At least the citizens aren't running around like crazy anymore. Hopefully they're safe.

Maybe he should check every building? But that would take too much time, and the water would already be at the height of the roofs on most of the tall buildings in Paris. So there's got to be a way to condense the search.

Maybe the swimming pool? A water akuma is most likely to spawn there. And the smell of this water is like chlorine so it isn't a stretch to say that the akuma is most likely at the swimming pool.

He jumps onto the roofs heading towards the swimming pool. He glances inside the glass roofs and finds that the whole swimming pool is filled with water. And what surprises him even more is that there is a mermaid in there, swimming around in anticipation.

The mermaid has two blue horns, pink skin, with a black tail mermaid tail that also covers the mermaid's chest and a red fin protruding out of her back with red fins prouding out of the black mermaid tail.

The mermaid's hair is also red.

And to Keith it's no wonder that Paris is flooding. Because for the mermaid akuma to move around she needs water. So hopefully Chat can come here soon, otherwise the mermaid will escape and try to take her prize.

Adrien's POV

"Why didn't the potion work?" Adrien asks, confused.

Plagg shrugs, "Don't ask me. I have no idea what the ingredients are for this underwater potion."

He huffs, and wonders, perhaps the tear of joy is a literal Tear of Joy. Once that comes from laughing too hard. In that case he better head back to Master Fu's place and tell him of the situation.

"Plagg Claws Out!"

Plagg shouts, "Wait, I'm not ready!" But gets sucked into the ring anyway transforming Adrien. Time to get to Master FU's place before the situation really gets out of hand. As he runs back the water continues to rise and he hopes Honeybee and Marmora can handle the situation until he finds them.

Otherwise it might be too late to get them the underwater potion. But he doesn't want to think about that.

After running across Paris again, he sees Master Fu's is only half filled up with water on the outside. So hopefully the inside isn't too bad either.

Adrien dives into the water and finds Master Fu's door is open. Holding his breath, he swims inside the house. As he swims he notices furniture and pictures floating around the house. And then he comes across a closed door. He tries to open it, but it doesn't budge against the strength he pushes against it.

Then suddenly the door opens and a flash of green pulls him inside a green force field.

"Adrien what are you doing back!?" cries a turtle themed superhero, which he assumes to be Master Fu.

"Well the potion didn't work, so I thought maybe adding a tear from laughing would help." He explains rapidly, as time is running out as the water should be still rising.

"I see…" murmurs Master Fu. "Alright Adrien tell me the best jokes you got and my tears from laughing will go into the pot. I did think something was off with the underwater power recipe after giving Wayzz some of it, but then the water came rushing into the house and…."

"Alright, my best joke….," Adrien interrupts, as they don't have time for a big squeal, "What is a cat's way of keeping law and order?" Master Fu looks at him confused, "Claw Enforcement!"

Master Fu starts to chuckle and he keeps going, "What's a cat's favorite kitchen tool? The 'whisker'!...Why are cats good at video games? Because they have nine lives!"

Master Fu's chuckling begins to get louder and Adrien grins. He knew studying and memorizing cat jokes for his lady would eventually pay off, even if this isn't what he had in mind(cause let's face it, Adrien would totally do that if he was Chat Noir to make him and his lady's patrols more fun).

A single tear hits the pot and blue liquid flashes with a spot of green.

Master Fu then begins to wipe his tears, "Ahh. Those were purrty funny cat jokes, Adrien. I believe the recipe is complete. Good job on figuring out what Tear of Joy means."

"Plagg Claws In!"

Master Fu grabs a big spoon and dips into the pot. "Plagg come closer,"

"Do I have to?" complains Plagg.

"Yes, in order for you to help Adrien, Chloe and Marmora face off the akua that caused this."

Plagg sighs but floats closer to the spoon in Master Fu's hands and drinks out of it.

A blue-green light envelopes his kwami for a second, before revealing Plagg with green fins on his arms and a green fin for his tail.

"Kid for transforming this time, you've got to say AquaPlagg Claws Out." Plagg says monotone.

Adrien nods, "AquaPlagg Claws Out!"

After the transformation he sees that his feet have green flippers like that divers wear. So that must be to help with movement and fighting in the water.

"Alright Adrien good luck and here is a vial for Chloe to give her kwami the same for Marmora as I can't leave right now."

Adrien nods and leaves the green forcefield. Figuring out that he doesn't have to hold his breath, which makes him relieved, he moves out of Master Fu's place.

Swimming to the surface he discovers that the water is now below the rooftops of every tall building in Paris.

So the situation has gotten a lot worse which is great. Just great.

Keith's POV

Keith gasps for air as he resurfaces. Okay fighting while holding his breath was a stupid idea. Because his lungs are burning from fighting the mermaid before she did something horrible to Kim.

"Hey, do you need some help?" asks a familiar voice.

Keith looks up and sees Honeybee as she reaches out her hand. He grabs her hand and with her help pulls himself out of the water.

"Thanks."

"No prob." Honeybee replies, "So what happened to make you gasp for air like that? You didn't go off and fight the aluma on your own did you?"

Keith nods, "That's exactly what I did. But I soon realized that was a bad idea as I almost drowned trying to fight that mermaid."

Also he should have learned his lesson by now that charging into battle is not the best idea anyways, but then again they always improvise their fights anyways. But still, fighting underwater without being able to breathe, yeah he should have thought about that before dashing off.

Still at least he didn't drown, which is good.

"Mermaid?!"

"Yep," he says, " It's a mermaid akuma we're dealing with this time."

"Jeez, and I thought the akumas Hawkmoth created couldn't get any weirder."

He just shrugs, I mean with the akuma footage on Alya's Ladybloghe's seen, now called the Noirblog as Chat Noir is now the main hero of Paris, he really isn't surprised that a mermaid akuma was created. Because one akuma was based on Ancient Egypt and there was the shapeshifter one who would turn into any animal they wanted and also could communicate with them.

Anyways he hopes Chat Noir gets here soon, as he has no idea how to go about stopping the mermaid from enacting her plan.
