*Fauna's POV*

I decided to add something new to the Princess Test that was coming up in a couple weeks.

"Flora, Merryweather." I said.

"Yes Fauna." they said.

"I was thinking of adding something to the test. Yes we are testing them on their physical ability to be a princess, but its the attitude that makes a great king or queen." I said.

"How are we going to test that?" Flora asked.

"Well, one of us could transform into someone and stand outside on the way to where we are planning to conduct the test. Ask each princess that passed by for help to see if someone will stop and help regardless of the test." I said.

"Oooh, that sounds like a good idea. You should do it since it's your idea. Flora and I will be conducting the test normally for those who didn't stop just so they don't expect anything." Merryweather said.

"Alright," I said.

I decided to transform into Ms. Higgins. I let her know to stay in the library for the duration of the test so that the girls don't expect anything. Two weeks later, everything was set. I had taken eight books from Ms. Higgins and carriers for them. I set the scene, a broken cart and a few carriers. I made sure that the trek to the cabin was a long one and enough detours to see if the one who stopped would go all the way. All I had to do was transform into Ms. Higgins and it was on. We had let the girls know in the morning so they could prepare for the afternoon. One by one I asked them all but they passed by, except for one…our most peculiar student, Sofia.

"Yoo hoo. Princess Sofia. Would you be a dear and help me?" I said.

She looked my way and made her way over, "What's the matter Ms. Higgins?"

"Oh…well. Thanks for stoppin'. I have to bring these books home but my wheelbarrow broke and I can't carry them myself." I said, "Would you help me?"

She smiled, "Sure."

I was surprised she agreed so easily. I had set the books in a way that I was carrying the brunt of the weight but Sofia grabbed both and set one in the front and one in the back. I was surprised at her strength. Amber came back and wondered what Sofia was doing.

"Sofia? Where are you going?" Amber asked.

"To help Ms. Higgins." Sofia said.

"What about the test?" Amber asked.

"Eh, I can make it in time. It's not far." Sofia said.

With that, we were on our way. The bridge was broken and I suggested we take a longer route. She just shrugged and continued on. We came to a narrow part of the path and she let me go first.

"After you Ms." she said.

"Why thank you. You are a proper princess." I said dropping a hint.

"I wasn't born a princess. I'm just trying to learn how to be a good one and prove that I deserve the status." she said.

"From what I've seen deary, you'll make a wonderful princess." I said.

It made her smile and we continued on. We came across the stream and I was worried about how Sofia will make it with the books. The stones were made to be a little slippery.

"I can take some of those." I said.

"No thank you. I've got it. I've done this before." Sofia said.

I watched as she smirked before running across the stones to the other side. I hopped across after her. I tried to persuade her to go back, but she doesn't want to and wants to keep going. Just then, I felt something following us.

"Sofia, do you sense that?" I asked.

"What is it?" she asked.

"Something's following us." I said.

"Oh. It's probably Luna. She follows me everywhere." Sofia said before whistling a sharp whistle.

A wolf came bounding out of the bushes at Sofia.

"Sofia, look out." I said.

But the wolf just sat at Sofia's feet as Sofia pet it.

"Sofia?" I asked.

"Oh, this is Luna. Luna this is Ms. Fauna. My teacher." she said.

"Hello Luna." I said as I let the wolf sniff me for a second before realizing what Sofia said, "Wait, how'd you know?"

"I spotted Ms. Higgins before I left for the test." Sofia shrugged.

"Huh," I said. "Well, all we have left is that."

I pointed to the muddy trail leading to the cabin.

"Oh no worries. It's just mud." Sofia said, "We have soap and water."

She began making her way to the cabin. Luna was on her heels and decided to roll in the mud. The wolf shook off and Sofia squealed in laughter.

"Luna." she said with mild annoyance.

Luna did a play bow.

"Oh you silly pup. I'm gonna get you!" Sofia said.

She ran after the wolf and tackled it into the mud. She rolled around giggling.

"Sofia dear." I called out from the front of the cabin as I had walked while the two were playing.

"Sorry Ms. Fauna. I'm coming." Sofia said as she got up and ran to the door.

She was covered in mud. I waved my wand to clean her off a little before teleporting us back to the school. It was kind of funny to see the reactions of the other students as they realized what happened.

"I used magic to make myself look like Ms. Higgins." I said.

"Really?" Jun said.

"It was all apart of the princess test." I said.

"It was?" Amber asked.

"Absolutely. One of the most important things about being a princess is kindness and a true princess always helps people in need even if it means giving up something important. So I made myself look like Ms. Higgins and asked each and every one of you for help." I said.

"All of you other Princesses with receive silver stars for the fine work you did." Flora said.

"But since you Sofia were the only princess to stop and help Ms. Higgins." Merryweather said.

"It gives us all great joy to announce that you passed the princess test with the highest honors." I said.

"And because of your great work today, we're awarding you a very special trophy." Flora said.

We conjured a trophy and handed it to Sofia.

"Congratulations my dear." Flora said.

"Thank you Ms. Flora." Sofia said.

I watched as Sofia was congratulated for her good work. When school ended and us fairies were cleaning up, Flora asked me how Sofia did.

"So, how'd Sofia do with the weight? I know you picked out a couple heavy books." Flora asked.

"I was surprised she did so well. She refused to make me carry anything. She wanted to carry it herself and we only took a break once." I said.

"Really? She's so young." Flora said.

"Let us see." Merryweather said.

So I showed them using a spell. By the end, the two were impressed.

"Well, she's definitely strong. That wolf is huge but seems loyal to Sofia." Flora said.

"How'd she peg you?" Merryweather asked.

"She said she'd seen Ms. Higgins before coming to the hall." I said.

"Huh. Interesting. She's going to go far." Merryweather said.

"She's going to do well. In fact, she's at the top of her classes." Flora said.

We spent the rest of the time talking about how well Sofia is doing so far.

*Sofia's POV*

I had asked Violet when Baileywick's birthday is and she told me. It was in a couple of weeks. Great. Plenty of time to make a gift for him. He seems to like his pocket watch, so I decided to make one. I made the main part out of steel. The hands and the face were carved out of wood and coated in a waterproof laminate. He only needed to adjust the time once at the beginning and never again. I made the chain a double link with a heavy duty connection. The pin to hold it to his pocket was made out of wood and I designed it as one of his favorite flowers, an ice lily. I put it in a box and wrapped it.

When the day came, he was in a good mood. So I decided to give him his gift before he left my room.

"Baileywick." I said.

"Yes Sofia." he said as he stopped.

"I wanted to give you this. I made it myself. Happy birthday. I hope you like it." I said.

I handed him the box and he opened it.

"Oh how lovely. This is wonderfully crafted. Thank you Sofia." Baileywick said as he hugged me.

He set it and then went about his day. He announced that our friends were coming shortly and that he would be on standby if we needed anything. Dad commanded Baileywick to take the day off.

"Plus, you have a visitor yourself." dad said.

"Who?" Baileywick said confused.

An older gentleman, who looked a little like Baileywick, came over and gave Baileywick a noogie. He also looked strangely familiar.

"Wicky! How good to see you baby bro." the man said.

"Nigel." Baileywick said.

"Nigel?" I asked.

"Sofia? Well, hello dear. My you have grown." Nigel said.

I giggled as I hugged him.

"Nigel? How do you know the Princess?" Baileywick asked.

"Oh, I'll tell you about it when we go do things we used to do as children." Nigel said. "Don't worry about anything. If I know Sofia, she'll have everything under control."

And so Baileywick agrees to go off to get ready for his day. Zandar, Hildegard, Ruby and Jade arrived shortly after Baileywick left. Zandar and James ran off to go play in James' treehouse. Ruby and Jade were in a conversation with Amber and Hildegard before we went to join Zandar.

*Baileywick's POV*

As I got ready, I placed the watch Sofia had made me in a special place. It really was beautiful and I was surprised she made it.

"So Nigel, how did you meet Sofia?" I asked.

"Oh, the sweet little thing." Nigel said with a smile, "She's such a good girl. I had been in town, not long though as I was just passing through. I just so happened to need a new pair of shoes, as mine were worn out. I asked the villagers if there was a cobbler and if they could show me the way. They just pointed to a small little girl with a wolf pup running around her feet. I was a little skeptical but these were the locals so I went up to the kid. She looked up at me and I asked her if she would be willing to make a new pair of shoes. She gave me a toothy grin and led me to this quaint well kept shop. The work she did was amazing. I was surprised because she was only four at the time and her mom had been away. The shoes she made were well structured and made. I tried them on and they were extremely comfortable and the traction was great. I gave the kiddo a good size wad of cash for her work and that toothy grin came back. After I paid her, I decided to stay a little longer to play with her."

"Wow." I said as I learned just a little more about Sofia.

"You know how I'm good at sensing something in a person?" Nigel said.

"Yes. Why?" I asked.

"Well, when I visited her the next time I was passing through town, she seemed a little quieter. As if she didn't have many friends. I played with her and that beautiful toothy grin of hers came out to play. We'd play for a bit before she had to go help her mother. So whenever I passed through, I'd go to her and either play or get a new pair of shoes and pay her." Nigel said.

"Interesting. I think I know what grin your talking about. It's not often she does it, but when she does, it's with Violet, Amber, her mother of course, Cedric, and sometimes with me." I said.

As we got ready to leave, I heard James calling for me. I went to see what he needed and it just so happened that he needed his treehouse fixed. I decided that I did need a break. I simply wanted to find out more about Sofia since I could tell there's more to her and Nigel seemed to know a bit about her. I pointed James to Sofia.

"What's Sofia going to do? She doesn't know how to…." James started.

He was interrupted by Sofia coming in.

"James, it's fixed." Sofia said.

I smirked but was disappointed when James ran off to play again, not even thanking Sofia for fixing whatever it was. I left with Nigel and learned more about Sofia.

*Amber's POV*

I smiled as Baileywick left. It was good that he was forced to take the day off. When I see that the cookies have a different pattern to them than I wanted, I decided to be good and not yell. I went down to the kitchen to ask for some new cookies. Sofia just so happened to be down there cooking something.

"Hey Amber. Instead of wasting the cookies that are made, how about giving them to the teachers at Dunwiddy so that the kids can have them?" Sofia suggested.

"Oh, great idea Sofia." I said and I sent a maid down with the cookies to do just that.

Nothing else really goes wrong as Sofia seemed to take the place of Baileywick for the day. Dad had asked her about it and just got a smile in return. I could tell that dad was trying to get Sofia to trust him, but Sofia didn't really open up to him much. She also prepared the food for dinner. All of us were sitting at the table when the food was brought out.

"What is it?" dad asked.

"It's a stew. I make it." Sofia said.

"You make it?" dad asked a little concerned.

"Yes." Sofia said.

"Sofia, it's our chef's duty to make food, not yours." dad said.

"I know, but I wanted to. It's something I like to do." Sofia said.

I smelled it and before they could say anything else I decided to interrupt them, "Is it the one you made for the sleepover?"

Sofia nodded with a smile. I dug in with happiness. I really did enjoy Sofia's cooking. She dished out another plate and when I looked up, I saw Baileywick and Nigel standing there.

"Nigel, would you like to join us for dinner?" Sofia asked.

"Is this your stew I've heard so much about?" Nigel asked.

"Yes." Sofia said.

"Oh goody." Nigel said with a smile.

He tried it and his face lit up.

"Rumors do not do this stuff justice." Nigel said.

Sofia gave a toothy grin as Baileywick also liked it.

*Miranda's POV*

I had to smile as I saw Sofia's toothy grin in full. She had told me about Nigel back when we were in the village. I never really got the chance to thank the man for playing with her. I worried about the comment Nigel made though, the one about how there were rumors of Sofia's stew. It was the same one she made for me. I remembered that night, I had come home really late and Sofia had stayed up and made dinner.

"Sofia." I said.

"Yes mom?" she said as she turned to me.

"Did you sell this?" I asked.

She looked down, "Yes."

"Why?" I asked.

"You were struggling enough as it was, I had to help lessen it." Sofia said.

"Oh sweetie, you shouldn't have had too." I said.

"But I wanted to help." Sofia said, "Plus, it was a good thing too. I got money off of it and decent too if someone was sick."

I was a little shocked. I wondered what else she sold to help out. I had ideas but until Sofia tells me how, I wouldn't know.

"Sofia, you shouldn't have." Baileywick said as he came back into the room.

Sofia beamed at him, "You're important too. It was worth it. Plus it was fun."

Baileywick gave her a grin, "Thank you. That was very kind of you."

*Third Person POV*

After dinner, Sofia's amulet glowed, showing that she gained another power. It wasn't a big power, like talking to animals but more down to earth. She had the ability to project and sustain her voice so she'd be heard. Over the next couple weeks, school was going well for Sofia. There was a four day break and during that four day break, the Tri-Kingdom Picnic was being hosted by the royal family of Enchancia this year.

*Amber's POV*

The Tri-Kingdom picnic was coming soon and I told Sofia all about it. It was where the kingdom of Khaldoun, Wei-Ling and our own kingdom got together to play games and just have fun. I told her about the events because I had a feeling she'd want to do it. Sofia helped the maids bring things out. I shrugged and helped out too. I was a little shocked that the maids seemed shocked that I was helping them. It made me realize that maybe I didn't appreciate them enough.

Sofia was eventually dragged off to play with Jun and Maya so I decided to help Princess Leena decorate a parasol. She gets the hang of it so I decided to go watch the events. Daddy had gotten the adults to join in with their own games so the adults were doing that.

Sofia had changed into her sports outfit. It showed off her lean and toned figure from all the hard work she did and still does. It was obvious that Sofia had power and speed behind her. James seemed to have gotten Sofia to pair with him for the events. I watched as Sofia made the best toss in the Flying Horseshoes, which led to James bragging about it.

Baileywick led them to where the golden egg on a spoon race was to be held. I watched as Maya won and James threw a fit demanding a rematch but Baileywick tells him no. Sofia tries to talk sense into him but he brushes her off. Uh oh, Sofia was having fun, but now there's a barrier. Sofia had told me about the bullies back in the village.

She was fine until the volleyball game begins and they lose a point because they missed the ball.

"Stop fooling around Sofia. Get your head in the game. You want to win don't you?" James said.

Sofia straightened and I caught the winces that the others made. She didn't comment yet, but I knew she would soon. She stepped up to the game and they won. James however rubbed the win in rudely. They head over to enchanted discus. I saw Sofia whisper something to Jun, who turned to her brother, who turned to Maya and Khalid, and they all nodded. Oh boy, it seemed that they all were getting serious…and they stepped it up to a point where it was obvious that they really were playing before. The shift in the game made James loose focus as he tried to keep up. Jin and Jun win in discus and Maya and Khalid win Capture the Crown. It was fun for the others but not so fun for James.

"I give up, I'm not having fun at all!" James said.

"Well, you should have been a better sport. It wasn't any fun when you would brag about winning and then when you lost you'd throw a tantrum and demand a rematch that was won fair and square." Khalid said annoyed.

"So we decided to have fun another way. It was going a little slow so we kicked it up a notch. Sofia kept up wonderfully." Jin said.

"Children, there's one more game. It was added last moment." Baileywick said.

"What is it?" Sofia asked.

"Spear throwing. You all have to get past a certain mark, but it depends. The girls will have a different mark to pass while the boys have a longer mark to get. Then you must hit a target at a certain range." Baileywick said.

James cheered. I looked at Sofia to see her smirking a little. She looked at Jun and Maya who all caught on. I knew Jun was strong in that area because of what she does as a princess, and that Maya was good too because of what her duties are. I saw that Jin and Khalid were sweating because of those smirks.

"It just had to be that one." Jin said.

"Oh boy. Here we go." Khalid said.

So Baileywick pointed out the targets and the marks. James went first but missed and didn't get anywhere near the mark he needed to win. Jin went, he hit the mark but in the orange of the target and passed James' throw. Khalid was a little better and was just under Jin in distance but better at the target. Then the girls stepped in. Jun went first and oh dear. The spear went far and she hit the second yellow ring, really close to a bullseye. Maya was right behind Jun in distance and the target. Then it was Sofia's turn. Sofia had thrown the spear really far, much farther than everyone's. Enough to spear something really far but close enough to not use a bow. Then the target and Sofia hit dead center.

"Holy crap. That was amazing Sofia! Can you teach me how to do that?" Jun asked.

"Yeah. That was really cool. I'd like to learn too." Maya said.

"Sure." Sofia said with a small grin.

Baileywick was looking at her score with an impressed look. He then declared Khaldoun the winner of the Golden Chalice though since they had the most points as a team. James was upset but seemed okay with losing.
