ALVINNN! and The Chipmunks:
Tamian Mysteries
Season 1, Episode 10 of 10:
Family and Friends
It was midday at the Seville residence, and The Chipettes were in the boys' bedroom, wearing disguises of them. Brittany was laying on Theodore's bed, with her left leg arched and her right leg raised and turned to the side, resting on her left knee.
"What's taking those boys so long?", Brittany asked, staring up at the ceiling.
"I guess wherever Dave went, he stayed the night.", Jeanette said as she dropped a pinch of flakes into the fish bowl on Theodore's nightstand.
"Do you think he found out they followed him?", Eleanor asked, sitting on Alvin's bed and playing with a Rubix cube.
"Probably not. Dave would have called Miss Miller the moment he found out.", Brittany speculated.
"That's hard to know for certain since they could still be outside normal cell phone range like they said.", Jeanette said.
"In that case, maybe Dave went so far out because he didn't want to be contacted.", Eleanor suggested.
"Then I hope they all stay especially safe.", Jeanette commented.
The Chipettes suddenly heard a slow but strong radar sound.
"What's that?", Brittany asked as she sat up quickly.
"It's coming from Simon's lab.", Jeanette replied.
The Chipettes rushed into the lab and saw a map with a dotted location on the large monitor.
"It must be that locator signal Simon mentioned.", Eleanor said.
"Where is that?", Brittany questioned.
Jeanette zoomed out the map.
"It's in Eagle's Peak State Park.", Jeanette confirmed.
"Why would they be all the way out there, again?", Eleanor asked.
"I don't know. But I think we should get there as fast as possible.", Jeanette responded.
"But what about Miss Miller?", Eleanor asked.
"Not to worry. I've got an idea.", Brittany said.
In the living room a few moments later, the home phone rang and Miss Miller picked it up. At the same time in The Chipmunks' room, Brittany turned on Simon's voice changing microphone.
"Hello?", Miss Miller asked over the phone.
"Hello, Miss Miller, I want Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, to meet me in Eagle's Peak State Park.", Brittany said, with her voice deepened by the microphone to sound more like Dave.
A little while later, Simon, Theodore, Dave, and Vinny were all standing in a clearing of the forest when the Munkmobile arrived above them. Brittany was in the pilot seat, while Eleanor was in the passenger seat and Jeanette sat in the space in the middle behind the seats.
"We're here.", Eleanor said.
"Why did I have to sit in the back?", Jeanette lightly complained.
"Because the second in command gets the main seat when Alvin isn't around.", Brittany answered, passive aggressively.
"Who made you second in command?", Eleanor questioned in discontent.
"I did. I'm the most qualified for it.", Brittany bluntly stated. "Now where's the control to land this thing?", she asked.
"This is Simon's Munkmobile. He wanted me to be in charge of using it to get us here.", Jeanette said.
"Ah, here it is.", Brittany said, ignoring her bespectacled sister as she reached for the altitude adjustment lever.
"No, wait! First you have to engage the gyro-", Jeanette tried to warn Brittany, but it was too late.
Brittany hastily pulled down the altitude adjustment lever and the Munkmobile spun out of control. The girls screamed inside the craft, while Dave and the other chipmunks fled in various directions for cover. At one point, it nearly hit Dave before curving back up to its original altitude in a boomerang-like motion. Jeanette reached over the seats and engaged the gyro-lock, which stabilized the Munkmobile in the air.
"This is why Simon wanted me to be in charge of the Munkmobile.", Jeanette told Brittany in a more assertive tone.
Jeanette brought down the altitude adjustment lever slowly and landed the Munkmobile. Dave and the other chipmunks approached the craft, with Vinny being especially cautious. The Chipettes exited the Munkmobile, and Eleanor, having gotten motion sickness, ran behind it to throw up.
"What happened, Jeanette?", Simon asked, running up to her in concern.
"Brittany happened.", Jeanette said, pointing her thumb at Brittany behind her.
"Well maybe you should have told me how to land it before we got here.", Brittany nagged.
Eleanor returned to the group, feeling very uneasy from just having thrown up.
"Is everyone okay, besides Eleanor?", Jeanette asked.
"We're fine. You nearly hit Dave though.", Theodore replied.
"Is she… No, she can't be, right?", Eleanor asked Theodore, while looking towards Vinny in astonishment.
"Mom. These are the friends we mentioned. The Chipettes.", Theodore said to Vinny.
"Girls, this is our mother. Mom, this is Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor.", Simon introduced.
"It's a pleasure to meet you three. I'm so glad my boys were able to find friends who are chipmunks.", Vinny said as she shook Brittany's hand.
"Well, it's more like we found them. Pleasure to meet you too Miss… uh…", Brittany turned to Simon and Theodore. "Do chipmunks have last names out here?", she asked.
"Please, you girls may call me Vinny.", Vinny told the Chipettes.
"Where's Alvin?", Jeanette asked Simon.
"That's exactly why we summoned you.", Simon responded.
Over an hour later, Dave, Vinny, Simon, Theodore, and The Chipettes were walking along a forest trail searching for Alvin. Dave and Vinny were farther up front calling out Alvin's name, while Simon and Theodore were telling The Chipettes everything they learned from the previous night.
"Wow. I never would have imagined that's how you met Dave.", Jeanette said.
"Me neither.", Simon replied.
"At least we finally figured out how Dave fits into this mystery.", Eleanor added.
"Yeah, but it was too much for Alvin to handle. Now I see why Dave didn't think we were ready.", Theodore said.
"You are right Theodore. I think we were all letting this mystery get the better of us.", Jeanette commented.
Brittany was quiet. Having heard The Chipmunks' story, she contemplated as she walked behind most of the group.
Eleanor looked towards Brittany. "You look worried.", she said.
"About Alvin?", Brittany presumed. "No, I'm sure he's safe. It's just that the boy's story was really something touching.", she responded.
"Yeah, but they still are lucky. More so than us.", Eleanor said in a lightly somber tone.
"Eleanor, I thought we agreed we were never supposed to bring that up.", Brittany said in a hushed and enforcing manner.
"Bring what up?", Theodore asked, still having heard Brittany's attempt to be discreet.
"Uh, nothing. Let's keep searching.", Brittany said to divert Theodore's attention.
"By the way Eleanor, I never got to ask yesterday. How did your interview at the animal sanctuary go?", Theodore asked his best friend.
"Fabulous. They accepted me and I'm starting next week. I gotta show you my uniform when we get home." Eleanor replied.
Another hour passed and dusk was fast approaching. Near the base of Eagle's Peak, everyone was still calling out Alvin's name, except for Brittany.
Brittany gazed up at the peak and began to think to herself. As the rest of the group continued their search, Jeanette stopped for a moment to check on her sister.
"Brittany, what's the matter?", Jeanette asked in concern. "We gotta keep up with the others.", she said.
"Keep searching in the forest. I'm going to see if I can get a better view.", Brittany replied, still looking up at the peak of the mountain.
"You think you're going to spot Alvin all the way from up there?", Jeanette asked.
"No, but maybe I'll be able to see other parts of the forest where he could have gone.", Brittany suggested.
"I'm not so sure it's a good idea to split off.", Jeanette commented.
"Just trust me on this. Tell everyone that if I'm not back by the time you pass through here again, come and find me.", Brittany instructed.
Brittany began scaling the mountain while Jeanette ran back to the group.
When Jeanette caught up with Simon, Theodore, and Eleanor, they immediately noticed Brittany's absence.
"Where's Brittany?", Eleanor asked.
"She went up the mountain to get a better view.", Jeanette answered.
"By herself?", Simon questioned. "We can't risk having another one of us go missing in these woods.", he added.
"I know. But she insisted, and wants us to meet back up with her later.", Jeanette told them.
"Great.", Eleanor said sarcastically. "I should have known. She was acting strange earlier.", she said.
"Strange, how?", Simon asked.
"I dunno, she just seemed really concerned about something after hearing your guys' story.", Eleanor responded.
Theodore, who was walking a little farther ahead of Simon, Jeanette, and Eleanor, stepped in a large footprint. Looking down and seeing how large it was compared to his own foot, he was simultaneously amazed and intimidated.
"Hey, Simon? What kind of footprint is this?", Theodore called out and asked.
Simon walked up to the footprint and examined it. He too was intimidated, but even more so.
"This is not good.", Simon said in a grave tone.
"What? What's the matter?", Theodore asked.
"This is a boar track.", Simon said.
"A boar?", Jeanette wondered.
"Yes. This area of the woods is starting to look familiar. We're close to where we saw that boar last time. It might even be the same one.", Simon replied.
Theodore gasped.
"We need to keep moving; and hope Alvin hasn't run into it.", Simon said, growing more concerned.
On Eagle's Peak, Bittany reached the top and saw a melancholy Alvin sitting on a rock, looking out over the entirety of the state park.
"Alvin. There you are.", Brittany said in relief.
"What do you want? Did you come to say you told me so about Digbee?", Alvin asked in a moody tone as he looked over his shoulder and a tear ran down his cheek.
"No. I just want to help.", Brittany said in a calming voice.
"Leave me alone.", Alvin pleaded as he continued to cry. "Can't you tell that I didn't want Dave, or my mom, or brothers to find me?", he asked rhetorically.
"They don't know we're here. It's just you and me, alone.", Brittany assured Alvin.
"Whatever they told you, none of it's going to change my mind.", Alvin asserted.
"They told me everything, but I'm not going to tell you what they would have. I'm going to tell you what I want to tell you.", Brittany said.
"What could you possibly tell me that they wouldn't?", Alvin questioned as he turned back to look at the horizon.
Brittany sat down next to Alvin on the rock, also looking at the horizon.
"That I wish I was in your position.", Brittany answered.
"No you don't. I went through my childhood without a mother that could have been there with me the whole time.", Alvin responded.
"At least you now know you still have a mother. I never knew mine.", Brittany replied as turned and looked at Alvin.
Alvin then turned and looked at Brittany. "You girls never told us-", before Alvin could finish his sentence, Brittany cut him off.
"I know.", Brittany said in a raised voice. "It was something we agreed never to share. But if it'll help you now, I will.", she admitted. "Can I trust you to keep this just between us?", she asked.
Alvin paused for a moment, in disbelief at Brittany's offer. "Yes.", he answered.
"Growing up, we had always wanted to know what it would be like having someone guide us through girlhood the way she went through it. That's why we've always envied you boys. You have Dave to teach you everything about boyhood. And now that you have a mother, I envy you even more.", Brittany said.
"So that's why you cared so much about asking if you could help us for Dave's sake.", Alvin realized.
"Yes.", Brittany confirmed.
"But if you envy me for that, then how come you always treat me like trash?", Alvin asked.
"You can be a real pain in the tail sometimes. That's a given. But I just never knew how to say before, that… no matter what happens… you can always rely on me, as a friend, to help you and your family with anything.", Brittany said.
Alvin perked his head up. His spirit felt lifted by Brittany's words.
"You really mean it, Britt?", Alvin asked with high hopes.
"Absolutely. You're lucky, Alvin. It may not have been the life you imagined, and she may not have been the mother you imagined, but you should be grateful that you have all of us.", Brittany said with sincerity.
Down in the forest, Dave, Vinny, and the four remaining adolescent chipmunks reached another clearing in the forest.
"Alvin!", Dave, Simon, and Eleanor shouted one at a time.
"We have to find him soon. The sun is going to set in less than an hour.", Vinny said.
"Oh, this is hopeless. I should have gotten the park rangers to help.", Dave admitted.
"But that could have risked exposing the village to law enforcement.", Simon chimed in.
"Speaking of the village, maybe Alvin went back there.", Theodore suggested.
"I guess. If not, maybe Brittany had better luck.", Jeanette added.
Just then, the squeal of a boar came from closeby in the treeline. The whole group became much more alert and they swiveled their heads in panic.
"Is that what I think it is, Simon?", Theodore asked as he trembled.
"There's no refuting it. That's a wild boar.", Simon confirmed.
The sound of hooves beating the ground came from behind the group. They all turned and gasped as the boar stepped out of the treeline and blocked the trail they had come from. It was the same boar that The Chipmunks had encountered before, as evident from it missing most of its right tusk. The boar scraped its hooves into the dirt, then squealed again.
"RUN!", Eleanor shouted.
Dave and the five other chipmunks ran deeper into the forest. They weaved their way through the trees, slowing the boar down, but it still pursued them all relentlessly. Vinny tripped and almost fell down a slope, but Dave caught her in time and carried her for the rest of the chase.
"I really wish I had brought more of that trail mix!", Theodore commented.
They made it out of the woods and found themselves at the top of a rocky canyon. The canyon was fifty feet wide and extended down so far that a dark haze obscured its true depth.
The boar finally caught up to them and prepared to charge again. Then Jeanette noticed a dead and hollow tree trunk standing up near the edge of the cliff.
"Quick, up that tree!", Jeanette shouted.
Everyone scrambled up the trunk. The five chipmunks settled themselves in a cavity at the top of it, while Dave made it up as high as he could on the few remaining branches.
The boar at first stood on its hind legs to try and reach them, nearly getting a hold of Dave's heel with its mouth, but Dave kicked the boar right in the nose.
"Get away!", Dave yelled at the boar.
The boar backed down and walked away.
Dave turned to the chipmunks. "Okay, let's just wait for it to walk far enough away, then we'll find a way around it and back to the vil-"
"LOOK OUT!", Theodore screamed and pointed behind Dave.
The boar came charging back at full speed. It rammed the trunk, which shook it, nearly causing Dave to fall off. Theodore hugged his mother tightly and closed his eyes.
"I don't wanna die, mom! We just met you again!", Theodore said in fear.
Vinny hugged Theodore to comfort him. "Just stay close to me, Theodore. I'm sure this boar will give up and-"
The boar rammed the tree again, this time tilting it over the canyon.
"HELP!", Theodore cried as his voice was carried across the woods.
Alvin and Brittany heard Theodore's cry for help all the way from the top of the mountain.
"That's Theodore!", Alvin said in shock.
"It sounds like it's coming from that canyon way over there.", Brittany said, pointing to the canyon.
"We need to get down the mountain.", Alvin proclaimed.
"How?", Brittany asked. "We would never make it before sundown.", she added.
Just then, Stanley the Eagle landed behind them. Brittany turned around and was startled by the tall bird.
"Ah! That's…", Brittany was so astonished that she could not finish her sentence.
"The eagle I told you about. Brittany, meet Stanley.", Alvin introduced.
Stanley squawked, turned to his side, and lowered his body.
"What's he doing?", Brittany asked.
"He wants us to get on. Trust me.", Alvin said.
"Alright. You sure weren't kidding.", Brittany said nervously.
Alvin and Brittany mounted Stanley.
"Come on Stanley! We have no time to lose!", Alvin said boldly.
Stanley squawked again and flew off the mountain.
"To the canyon!", Alvin commanded.
Back at the canyon, the boar continued to ram the tilting tree trunk, as everyone held on for dear life.
"This tree's not going to last much longer!", Eleanor said.
"Oh this was such a bad idea!", Simon said woefully.
The boar rammed the tree one last time. It fell over horizontally, only being suspended to the cliff by its old roots. Simon slipped off the trunk and started falling.
"SIMON!", everyone else shouted.
With lightning reaction, Jeanette grabbed Simon's arm before he could fall down too far, but was only holding on to the trunk herself with one hand and one of her legs wrapped onto a branch.
"I got you Simon!", Jeanette said.
The boar, having rammed the tree down as far as it would go, proceeded to use its snout to turn up the ground and release the roots. When one of the roots snapped, the jolt caused Jeanette to lose her grip and fall as well. But Eleanor caught her arm and struggled as she tried to pull both Jeanette and Simon back up onto the trunk.
"Don't look down guys!", Eleanor advised.
"Hurry Eleanor! That boar is going to uproot the whole tree!", Simon said.
"But what can we do to stop that?!", Jeanette asked.
"I don't know, but we have to think of something! I can't hold on much longer!", Simon said.
"No! Please keep holding on, Simon!", Throdore said in distress.
Simon's strength began to fade. When he fell from Jeanette's grasp, everyone reacted in horror as he plummeted into the canyon.
But just that instant, Stanley, with Alvin and Brittany on his back, swooped by and caught Simon. Stanley flew up back to the cliff and set Simon on top of a large boulder.
As Stanley circled back around to the boar, Alvin jumped off and used the added height to land a drop-kick onto the boar's face, drawing its attention away from the roots. Alvin somersaulted off of the boar's head and made a graceful landing a few meters away.
"Hey, Breaktusk! Remember this?!", Alvin pulled the broken tusk out of his pocket and showed it to the boar. It squealed in anger, being reminded of how it lost the tusk last time.
"Come and get it!", Alvin taunted.
"Alvin! What are you doing?!", Dave asked with both shock and confusion.
Alvin ran away from the cliff, carrying the tusk. The boar, fueled by revenge, ran after him.
Simon arrived after sliding down from the boulder and rushed to help the others get off the fallen tree trunk.
"Come on! This tree's gonna fall any second!", Simon said.
Alvin led the boar back to the edge of the forest a short distance away from the cliff. Before it could catch Alvin, Brittany dive-bombed the boar, using Stanley to distract it. Alvin used the opportunity to find a really long and straight fallen branch, then ran with it back to the cliff.
Once Dave made it off the tree trunk, Simon helped the rest of the chipmunks carefully walk across it. But Theodore was the slowest and most nervous to make the full cross.
"Faster, Theodore!", Eleanor urged him.
"I'm… I'm not too sure about this. I feel like I'm going to slip if I go any faster.", Theodore said.
"You're already more than halfway. You got the rest.", Dave said.
"You can do it, Theodore.", Vinny encouraged.
"Yeah. Just imagine you're walking on flat ground.", Jeanette suggested.
The roots began to creak as they gave way, and could no longer tether the trunk from the forces of gravity. The trunk began to tilt more.
"Now, Theodore!", Simon shouted.
For a brief second, Theodore closed his eyes and exhaled before running across the trunk and jumping off right before the last stable root snapped. As Theodore was in midair, Dave caught him and held him close to his shoulder. The trunk began its complete descent as Simon, Jeanette, Eleanor, and Vinny watched it fall into the depths of the canyon.
A little farther away from the group, Alvin made it to the cliff with the long stick and stood mere inches from the drop off. He signaled Brittany and Stanley with a whistle to call off the distraction, then got the attention of the boar again.
"Hey! I'm over here you overgrown warthog!", Alvin taunted again.
The boar once again scraped its hooves into the dirt and charged towards Alvin. Once the boar made it a certain distance, Alvin made his charge towards it while carrying the stick. At the right moment, used it to pole vault very high over the boar. The boar though, not being stupid, stopped before it accidentally fell off the cliff.
Stanley flew in carrying Brittany, who reached out her hand as Alvin did the same in midair. When they grabbed each other's hand at the apex of Alvin's vault, Brittany swung him around back towards the boar, and he drop-kicked it again. This time in the hindquarters with enough force to push the boar a little further until it could not keep its footing on the cliff. It plummeted into the canyon, disappearing beyond the dark haze. After it for a few seconds, there was a faint splashing sound.
Stanley landed next to Alvin and Brittany dismounted. Vinny ran up to Alvin and hugged him.
"Alvin! I'm so glad you're safe.", Vinny told her son as she was crying tears of joy.
"I've never been safer, mom. I'm glad you are too.", Avin said.
"I'm so sorry we made you feel the way you did. All I ever wanted was for us to appreciate each other to the fullest.", Vinny apologized.
"It's okay, mom. I do now. You and Dave are the only parents I have left. And I'm grateful to have you both.", Alvin responded.
"I don't approve of you putting yourself in danger, but I'm proud that you came back for us.", Dave said.
"Thanks, Dave.", Alvin replied.
Eleanor walked up next to Brittany. "You had something to do with this, huh?", she asked passively.
"What, you think you could have told him the same thing I told him?", Brittany asked in a snarky tone.
"Whatever it was, 'glad you came through, sis.", Eleanor remarked.
Stanley squawked, and Alvin turned toward him. "Thank you too, Stanley. You're a true friend.", Alvin said.
Stanley squawked rapidly.
"Yeah. Same to you. See you around, bro.", Alvin said with an appreciative smile on his face.
Stanley flew off majestically into the California sunset, as Alvin's family and friends watched on.
That evening, after returning to the village, The Chipmunks, Chipettes, and Dave were about to depart back to Santa Barbara.
"You girls are going to take the Munkmobile back?", Simon asked.
"Yes.", Jeanette answered. "And I'm flying this time.", she said definitively as she turned towards Brittany.
"Yes, please. I do not want another bad landing.", Eleanor commented.
"Alright. We'll meet you back home.", Simon said.
"See ya then.", Brittany said.
The Chipettes boarded the Munkmobile and flew away, south and out of the state park.
"Well mom, meeting you again was a dream come true. But we gotta go home. We got ties with family and friends back in Santa Barbara.", Alvin said.
"But we'll be back for visits, right?", Theodore asked.
"Of course we will, Theodore.", Dave answered.
"Oh come here, boys.", Vinny said with outstretched arms.
Alvin, Simon, and Theodore all joined their mother in one big group hug and she kissed each of them on the forehead.
"We love you, mom.", all three of the boys said in unison.
"I love you too, boys.", Vinny replied.
"But what about that book?", Simon asked. "Harry is still at large.", he added.
"Don't worry about it. The rest of the village and I will do everything in our efforts to get it back and stop Harry's revolution. I want you boys to enjoy your lives with David and grow up the way you have been all these years.", Vinny said.
"We will, mom.", Theodore responded.
"But when we come to visit, I can be a consultant for all the Tamian stuff, right?", Alvin proposed.
"Alvin.", Dave angrily said.
Alvin chuckled nervously.
The End
