Chapter 52: Hole in the Sky(Marinette's POV)
Marinette stands on the Bridge watching the stars as they travel through space. It was only a few days ago since recusing the Valmeirans. She hopes they'll be okay, after all they did refuse their help to rebuilding their homes.
The party they threw for us was spectacular. The food tasted amazing, even if it was forgein to her and she was hesitant to try, unlike Hunk. And chatting to them about the universe and other planets and their planet was nice and insightful.
The distress signal comes on, and she puts her thoughts about the Valmierans away.
"Where's that distress signal coming from?" Marientte asks.
"Just a few clicks from here. But the signal, it seems…."
"It's Altean!" Allura gasps.
Lance looks at the two Alteans, "But I thought you said all Alteans were gone, except for you two?"
"Well there were some Alteans off world by the time Zarkon attacked. But I thought he eradicated them. Or if some of them survived they mingled with other races and the genes of Alteans got lost and faded with each passing generation. At least that's what I thought."
"Till this signal appeared?" Marinette asks, to clarify.
Allura nods. "But if some managed to have their own little families, then that means me and Coran aren't the only ones!" Her blue eyes, with hints of pink glow up at that possibility.
"Then we should check it out." Marinette states.
Hunk nods happily, "Yeah and then maybe they could help us with the Coalition!"
Pidge pushes her glasses up, "Their tech was advanced for ten thousand years agoa and is still advanced today as on one knows how Altean tech works. And that could help because we could equip the Coalition with better machines."
Lance hollers, "All right! It's settled! We're going to help some Alteans!"
Once they get the coordinates they arrive at a ship which is sticking out of a swirling portal. The portal is yellow with purple sprinkled out.
"That's pure quintessence!"
"Pure quintessence?" Lance asks, confused.
"The portal is made out of pure quintessence. Which is life force. We should send a pod closer to it."
Marinette allows it. They watch as the pod goes closer and closer, remotely controlled by Coran. And then it gets destroyed into pieces.
"Perhaps we should use Voltron? As we can't leave the Alteans in that!"
Marinette nods, "Yes, we can't leave them when they need help. Let's get to our lions."
The rest of the team gives her uneasy looks, but goes to the elevators anyways. Once in her lion and out in space they form Voltron. They approach the portal with curiosity, but also caution.
Once they pass through the portal, which looks like a tunnel of yellow and purple, Voltron's scanners pick up something.
"Allura I'm getting a reading that there are people in there." She tells the team.
"I'm getting it too." Lance states.
"Alright we should break up into our separate lions and fly closer to the ship and enter. We're just going on a rescue mission. It'll be in and out."
Everyone nods and they separate their lions. Flying Black closer she lands on the outside of the ship. Tikki flies next to her, "You sure you don't want to transform into Ladybug?"
"This mission won't require Ladybug. As we're just recusing them from being stuck inside the ship."
"If you say so. I'll come with you, and we have to be careful."
Marinette nods as she drops out of her lion's hangar and out of Black's chest. She uses her jetpack to get close to the ship's hull. When the others join her, "Pidge, can you cut a hole in the ship so we'll be able to get in."
Pidge nods and cuts a hole in the ship.. Marinette uses her jetpack to land on the floor instead of falling when she flies through the hole. The ship is dim with light, making it a little hard to see anything.
The others land behind her.
She looks at Allura, "Alright, lead the way to the Bridge."
Allura nods and runs. Marinette and the others follow suit. Going through dim lighted hallways which is almost like going through a corn maze at night. Eventually they reach the Bridge. There's a large screen and then she spots something that horrifies her. "Eek!" She and Hunk scream at the sight of an Altean skeleton.
And then she spots more and she's quivering. Something bad happened here. Where these Alteans died and left their skeletons and clothes behind.
Lance hugs her in comfort and it eases Marinette's fear a little.
Then Pidge presses a button on the dashboard making an Elderly Altean appear on the screen.
"King Alfor, we have done as you requested and found another Comet similar to the one that you made the Voltron lions with. We are on our way to deliver it to Altea. We'll be there in two…"
The Altean turns as a bright yellow light engulfs him, accompanied by screams. And then the screen goes dark.
She shivers, so that's what happened here.
Then a vent pushes open revealing two Alteans. One looks like Shiro, except his hair is stark white, his eye colour is blue with pink tints and he has blue Altean marks on his cheeks. The other one has a hologram on his arm, he has light purple eyes with tints of green, red hair and red Altean marks.
"Akira I thought you said this place was empty!" The Shiro looking one shouts.
"It was, until a few ticks ago. I decided to see who boarded. Luckily it isn't the Olkari. But instead some humans and one Altean."
"But the Dragons of Altea don't even know about this ship! And they're wearing dragon paladin armor! And you tell me it's fine and not to worry about them!"
"Keith, Shiro…" Hunk says, making the two Alteans look back at them.
"I'm not Keith or Shiro!"
Akira smirks, like he's having fun with this, "But your name is close isn't it, Prince Shiran?"
The newly named Shiran mutters, "I told you not to call me that on missions, Akira. Not everyone has to know I'm related to the great Queen Allura."
Marinette looks at Allura, how was that possible? How could Allura be Queen when she was gone for ten thousand years? It just isn't possible. And those two should not be able to look like Shiro or Keith. As Hunk said, one of them looks like Keith. And what the hell are the Dragons of Altea?
