Prelude to War
~ Homurahara academy ~
"For attacking my brother" as Illya glared daggers at Lancer, "you will not leave here alive".
"Illya . . . ." Shirou groaned as his body was stinging all over from his intense battle.
"Just stay back" as Illya kept her focus on her opponent, "I'll take care of things from here".
"Tsk, don't talk so big little girl" Lancer grinned. "Do you really think you can compete with me?!" as he lunged in jousting with his spear.
However Illya didn't falter in the slightest even as the bladed edge drew closer to her. Though dangerous, she knew her servant was quite reliable.
Intercepting with her blade of wind, Saber parried the attack while simultaneously countering forcing Lancer to jump back to evade. "If you wish to do battle then I will be your opponent" as she stood in guard position, "and I promise I'm more then a match for you".
Looking at her from head to toe analyzing her features, Lancer could only smirk as his blood began to boil in excitement. "You must be Saber" as he too went into guard position. "Let's see if you're worthy of your class for I've been quite bored as of late!"
"A duel it is. Then I will not hold back".
But then entering from the busted classroom door, "that will be enough of that" said Rin as Archer appeared at her side. "I do not know your purpose or intentions. But you have a lot of nerve causing this much destruction. I'm going to have you stop now".
"I'll deal with you later" said Lancer, "I have . . . ." The blue servant then ceased as he felt a buzzing in his head to which he then gave a peeved look. "How annoying. Another time then" as he then disappeared from sight.
Although their assailant had left the scene, the danger was far from over. Now staring off against each other, Illya looked warily to Rin as she stood indifferently before them next to her servant. This was the holy grail war with the winner being the last person standing. There was no such thing as second place as defeat meant the high possibility of death. So thus she dared not let her guard down as she was not sure of Rin's intentions or the class and abilities of her servant. With the slightest mistake, it could cost her and Shirou's life.
But of the occupants in the room, Rin felt she had to be the more cautious one. Looking over the knightly servant, it didn't take much to guess by the way she carried herself that she was indeed Saber. Regardless of Archer's boasting, she dared not try to oppose a servant of her caliber without a plan of some sort. So as the saying went, 'live today fight tomorrow'. "I have no intentions of fighting you. So you have no need to worry. Please check on Shirou to see if he's OK".
Unflinching, Illya narrowed her gaze not taking her eyes off her supposed enemy. But getting within ear shot of only her servant, "I do not think they mean us harm. But nonetheless watch them. I need to check on my brother".
"Of course" as Saber lowered her guard though was ready to react on a moments notice.
As Illya went to Shirou, Rin stood by with a quizzical look on her face. She had long suspicions that Shirou might have been a magus as he showed signs of having the spark. However due to his low magic affinity she didn't think much of it as it wasn't uncommon for some regular humans to show signs of it. But tonight her belief about him was confirmed. But for his sister, why didn't she suspect that Illya could have been a magus? To summon Saber, she would definitely have to have some talent and power in doing so. Even Luvia who rivaled her didn't suspect Illya of being a magus. Although she didn't think much of her, looking to her now she felt something was definitely off. Aside from not even feeling an ounce of prana from Illya, she couldn't even focus on what color her hair or eyes were let alone the features of her face. She was certainly looking as she was staring right at her. But trying to describe what she looked like, she kept drawing a blank. She was able to make out what expressions she made. However she couldn't piece any details of what she looked like. In such a case there was only one explanation for it. "What an incredibly powerful bounded field" thought Rin as her face contorted a bit. "Just what is she exactly to keep such a powerful barrier active for so long without anyone noticing?"
"Are you alright Shirou?" said Illya, "you're not hurt are you?"
"I'm fine" as Shirou gave a strained chuckle. "Nothing I couldn't handle" as he rubbed some of his sore spots.
"Come on" as Illya slung Shirou's arm over her shoulder picking him up. "We'll get you fixed up when we get home".
"Hold on" as Rin stood in their way. "Who are you exactly?"
". . . . That is something that you don't need to know. So please step aside Rin or will I need to make you?" as she gave her a look of warning.
Analyzing the wide array of variables both known and unknown, Rin conceded allowing them to leave as it was in her best interest. Plus she needed to do some damage control by fixing up the school to cover up any signs a fight had occurred.
Being far enough away from the school, Saber walked from behind as Shirou after recovering enough was able to walk on his own. Going at a steady pace, there was much they needed to discuss.
"What is going on?" as Shirou gave a heavy look. "The holy grail war has started well before the supposed time".
"Hmm . . . . I can't say for certain" said Illya. "But it's not the primary issue now as the problem now is that it already started meaning we have to be extra careful from now on. But now we need to gather as much information as we can to gain the upper hand. So what we know so far is Rin Tohasaka in one of seven masters with her servant being Archer. Thus this leaves Lancer, Caster, Rider, Assassin, and Berserker".
"Ugh, got quite a lot to look into. I wouldn't even know where to start".
"Well we don't know if all the servants have been summoned yet. Perhaps you should try to summon one when you get back. Though I doubt the success rate . . . . Sorry oniichan" as Illya gave a choked laugh.
"It's alright" as Shirou gave a strained smile, "I know I'm not that great".
"Anyways depending on what the other masters do will dictate how we should proceed. I'd rather keep the conflict as isolated as possible as I don't want to get anyone else involved. But since we already know the identity of one of the masters, we should focus on that first".
Shirou cringed a bit, "oi, don't do anything too reckless. Regardless of who she is, Rin is good person. I'd rather not see her get hurt".
However Illya could only sigh upon hearing that. "You're far too trusting sometimes. Do you really think she'll give us such consideration given the opportunity to kill us or rather me?"
The mage smith was then taken back as he couldn't respond to that.
Although a bit unfair, Illya knew her brother was extremely good hearted and didn't want to see anyone get hurt. So sighing somewhat, "by the way, did Archer seem familiar to you? I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel like we've seen him before".
"Hmm . . . . He didn't seem familiar to any legendary hero I've read about. Are you sure you're not mistaking him for someone?"
"Hmm . . . . I don't know. I just get this feeling I know him from somewhere before. But that's enough of that. Let's get home for a good nights rest as this has been a long enough day" as the siblings agreed and hurried on their way.
Arriving home and relaying what had happened to Sella and Leysritt, Illya still had one last business left to attend too that day as she wanted everyone to formerly meet her servant. Having the knightly servant step forward, she was introduced to everyone.
"Everyone" said Illya, "this is Saber. Saber, this is Shirou, Sella, and Leysritt. So let's get along from now on OK".
"Greetings" as Saber gave a respectful bow, "I'll be serving master for the duration of this war. So I'll be in your care from now on" to which everyone gave their proper formalities.
"I'm sorry for our rough first meeting as things got a bit more hectic then I would've liked" as Illya now stood in front of Saber. "But then . . . . It's not exactly our first meeting".
"Hmm?"
Removing her necklace pocketing the jewelery, the young homunculus gave the knightly servant a warm and tender smile. "Do you remember me Saber? It's been quite a few years since that time at the castle, but . . . ."
"You are Illya, the daughter of Kiritsugu and Irisviel" as Saber softly smiled back to her. Listening, it didn't take much to conclude her identity in relation to how familiar she acted to her. With how much time had passed, their daughter would be about this age. "You have indeed grown quite big since I last saw you that time".
"Illya, have met her before?" asked Shirou.
"Yeah, it was a long time ago when papa and mama summoned her for the last war. Saber for a while used to be my babysitter when papa and mama were busy and no staff were around to help out". Holding her warm smile, she then hugged Saber which caused the knightly servant to fidget a bit uncomfortably with how informal and sudden this was.
". . . . Master, if there is nothing else then . . . ."
"Sella, can you prepare another chair" Illya interrupted as she then faced her maid much to the discomfort of her servant. "Saber here will also be joining us for dinner".
"But master, that won't be necessary. I . . . ."
"Unacceptable. Although you don't need to eat, I consider you now part of this family. So I want you to eat with us, OK?"
Of course Saber wanted to refuse. But like her mother, Illya definitely inherited her spontaneous and infectious personality which always got people to agree with her. Although she didn't expect Illya to foolishly use a command seal to make her do anything, she still felt a bit odd concerning the situation. Regardless of her self-proclamation of leaving her humanity behind, she still felt some very human things like awkwardness towards the situation. Though she bared no ill will towards anyone in the household, she still felt bitter over Kiritsugu's betrayal of forcing her to destroy the grail which had the power to save her country from destruction. But for now she decided to leave it be for the sake of being respectful as well as not to put a bitterness on their reunion. When the time came she needed to confront this, she would.
"Alright, let's eat!" Illya cheered.
~ Homurahara academy ~ (the next day)
Concerning the events yesterday, Rin was growing worried with how much information she lacked in relation to her own tactical capabilities. Although her Archer was a very capable combatant, it was no where near on the level of Saber. Aside from Illya being an unknown variable, she knew even less about Luvia and her servant. Concerning the blond master, she knew she'd honor their arrangement of keeping the war conflict away from the school. So she was unlikely the one who controlled Lancer. With Saber and Archer out of the running, this then left the possibility of Caster, Assassin, Rider, and Berserker.
Although there was a lot to think about, she needed to focus on the current problems. She could investigate Luvia and Lancer later as she needed to narrow her view on what she perceived as the most dangerous player in the game.
Saber in relation to the other classes had the overall best stats which made her the strongest. As for her master, she had no grasp of how powerful Illya was. So it was imperative that she did some digging of her own to know as much about her as she could. With just a little research, she learned about the Emiya family and there background in space time research. But more so there infamous reputation within the magic community such as there study into forbidden arts and that of Kiritsugu with the deaths of several known infamous magus.
Though this gave her a relative idea of what she might be up against, she still had several questions that needed answering. She knew they were step siblings, but she didn't know who was the legitimate heir to the Emiya family? Who was Illya exactly in terms of background and origins? What other secrets could they be possibly hiding? But with enough luck and planning, she was going to get all she needed.
Nearing the end of school, classes were heading to the home stretch with final words of the day.
As students were diligently taking down notes, for one class in particular a knock at the door was heard as the door was slid back to which a student entered as a note was handed over.
Receiving, Taiga read it to what it may concern. "Emiya-kun, you're being requested to the student council office".
"What?" Shirou asked with slight confusion, "why?"
"Doesn't say, but by the slip notice it is urgent".
"Huh, I understand".
With classes over, all students filtered out either to attend extra circular activity or go straight home. As Shirou made his way to the student council office, he could only feel confused. If there was anything school related, Issei would have told him in person at the beginning of the day when they met. However like life was, circumstances could have come up.
"Well let's see what they want". Opening the door, Shirou looked inside to see the room was relatively empty aside from one occupant. "Tohsaka? What's going on? Were you the one who called me?"
Sitting in her spot with her hands folded in front of her, "hello Shirou, please come in".
Although slightly wary, the mage smith thought the scenario over weighing out the risks. He highly doubted Rin would start a fight let alone try to kill him in the school with so many witnesses around. So in such a case he'd at least see if he could talk to her to keep the peace and just as importantly insure no harm would come to his sister. "Tohsaka, there is something I actually wanted to talk to you about" as he walked further in.
"Is that so?" Rin partly grinned. "There was something I wanted to discuss with you too".
Entering further into the room, Shirou stepped forward to which the moment he was in the center a spell circle lit up beneath him. Feeling his body become rigid, "a binding circle!", "Trace . . . . !"
"I wouldn't do that" said Rin as she had are hand raised with her magic crest lit on her forearm. "I'd rather not use violence unnecessarily". Seeing Shirou fidget, his body then relaxed in a show of compliance. "Good, now we have time to talk" as she then walked right up to him. At first looking to him questionably, she then walked around him scanning him from head to toe before stopping in front of him.
"Tohsaka?"
Then without warning Rin started to remove his school blazer as she then begun to pull up his shirt.
"Tohsaka?!" Shirou blushed in embarrassment. "What are you doing?!"
"Quiet down. I just need to check something". So pulling up his shirt and rolling back his sleeves, Rin looked carefully around before stepping back once more. Then eying his pants, Shirou could only cringe at what she was going to do. ". . . . I highly doubt it would be down there".
"Huh?"
"Your magic crest . . . . You don't have it do you which means you were the one who was adopted into the Emiya family".
Giving a slightly defeated look, "I would have told you that if you just asked . . . ." as Shirou somehow felt a bit violated.
"So that must mean that Illya is heir to the Emiya family, hmm" as Rin thought carefully about this fact.
But as lousy as the situation was, Rin did not appear hostile. Since he too had something he wanted to discuss, he might as well get on with it. "Why are you participating in the holy grail war? What do you have to gain from it?"
Staring blankly at first, her expression then hardened, "because it is my duty as not only as the head to the Tohsaka family but also as a magus. It's for this reason alone that I desire the grail".
"Tohsaka, you must listen to me" Shirou then pleaded, "the grail is not what you think it is. You must not get involved for your sake. So please . . . ."
"Enough, I don't really care to listen to anything further".
"But . . . ."
"Do you really think you can change my mind? You are the enemy after all. However you do have something I need, and that's valuable information on your sister to which you're going to tell me".
Cringing, Shirou's face hardened as he mentally prepared himself for whatever torture Rin may do to him. But whatever may happen he will not betray Illya as he squeezed his fists in determination. "Wait a minute" as he flexed his fingers, "the spell is weakening?" Looking down, the binding circle had several breaks within it's formula.
"If you wanted my attention, you definitely have it now".
Reacting to the voice, both Shirou and Rin looked to the back wall as Illya was causally leaning against it with her arms crossed. Since Rin was revealed to be a master, she took it upon herself to create some homunculus birds to be her eyes and ears in the case something happened to which her judgment was well founded.
"When? How did she get in here?" as Rin was recovering from the surprise. " . . . . Since you're here then you can clear up a few things for me or else . . . ."
"Time alter . . . ." Illya chanted
"Huh?"
"Double accel" to which in that instant the young homunculus time multiplied by a factor of two as she was now moving faster then everything else in normal time. Shining underneath her school uniform skirt was the Emiya magic crest as it was tattooed on Illya's outer thigh. Upon receiving her inheritance, she had become as good or possibly better then her father. Attempting to use it like he did, it had put a significant strain on her internal organs as her body was not strong enough to deal with the stresses it placed on it. So thus she needed to find a new way to use it as she did what her father could not. Instead of accelerating her internal functions, she expanded the reality marble just enough to be like a second skin that surrounded her body. Although it alleviated the stresses it placed on it, it took more prana to use it the way she did. However it afforded her better flexibility in altering time magic without harming herself. Though she needed to regenerate prana between usages with how taxing it was.
With everything moving at half the time by her perspective, Illya went about her task moving Shirou out of the binding circle before pushing Rin into it. Repairing the spell insignia of the circle, the young homunculus gave a soft breath releasing her time magic as she returned back to normal time.
"What?" Rin then exclaimed, "but how? Explain yourself".
Illya gave a heavy breath as she took her seat to recover. "You're in no position to be demanding anything. But I understand enough" as she closed her eyes for a moment before standing up as she approached Rin.
"Illya" said Shirou as he was going to stop her worried of what she might do.
"It's OK Shirou" Illya smiled assuring him she wouldn't do anything violent as she had him step aside. Now standing before the brunette magus, she knew what she wanted to say as this would be the only time she cared to say it. "I don't want to hurt you Rin. Like Shirou . . . . I know you're a decent person. However, I feel your reasons for wanting the grail are flawed. Your pride will only hurt you in the end. But furthermore, as a magus you should know what the grail can offer. Although you do not understand at what price. So I implore you . . . . please walk away while you still can".
Listening intently Rin held a stoic face, ". . . . Then what is your reason for participating in the war?"
". . . . For the sake of fulfilling my papa's last wish".
Before anything else could be said, an ominous presence was then shrouded upon them as the three were quick to resist it's immediate effects.
Quick to react, Illya looked outside to the halls and quad area to see students one after another falling unconscious. After a moment to analyze, she understood what was going on. Someone or possibly something had set up a barrier which was sucking away the life force of everyone within it. To a magus, they would be able to resist it for sometime until they were able to do something about it. But for a normal human, it was only a matter of time before everyone was killed. Giving a slight look of anger, Illya stormed back into the room gritting her teeth as she glared right into Rin's eyes. "Is this your doing? You better stop this now. No matter how desperate anyone is, claiming souls to power a servant that's . . . ."
"I'm no heretic!" Rin then shot back. "This isn't my doing!" Giving a slight look of dread, she began to struggle of bit. "Release me! We have to stop this. I don't want to see anyone get hurt".
Thinking about it, the young homunculus was uncertain what she should do. But what she did know was this barrier needed to be shut down immediately before anyone died. Like all spells, it did have a weak point that could be exploited as it was just a matter of finding it.
But between her, Shirou, and Saber, she was not sure that would be enough to find it in time. But if she managed to get Rin and Archer to help, it gave them better chances. However she was not certain she could be trusted. However as things stood she needed to have some faith in Rin to do the right thing if what she said was true. If not, she would deal with her swiftly.
Taking a moment of silence, ". . . . People are going to die if we don't do something soon. Do we have an understanding till this matter is dealt with?"
Without even needing to think about it, Rin nodded. Getting normal people mixed up in magical affairs was detestable no matter the reasoning. So she didn't need any more convincing beyond that.
Hesitant, Illya knelt down swiping her finger across the circle destroying the binding as Rin was now free. Then summoning their servants, Saber and Archer were now present. "We need to search the school. A barrier of this size must have an integral weak point. If we can find it and destroy it we can save everyone. Now go quickly".
Splitting off in different directions, the group went. Illya and Rin followed their magical senses with their servants following their lead.
Though his senses told him one thing, Shirou had a different hunch. For their was only two reasons they were able to locate the barriers source so easily which was either the enemy was dumb for leaving their weak point exposed or smart enough in forcing them to waste time with decoys. Since the time the barrier was erected, an odd scent hung in the air which he found peculiar. Deciding to follow his hunch, he soon found himself outside entering the forest as before long he was now standing before the source of the barrier.
"I'm surprised you recognized the source. Then as a reward I'll give you a peaceful death".
Shirou immediately turned about to see a woman with violet hair wearing some odd black and purple cloths. Without a further thought, he knew she was a servant. "Is this your doing? Are you the one responsible for this?"
"And what if I am?"
"Shut it down now! There is no reason to involve normal people in this war!"
". . . . Why should I? It's only logical I should take every advantage I can in order to insure victory. With all these human souls ripe for the picking, what other better place to collect power".
"I said shut it down now!"
"Heh, I have no reason to listen to someone like you. This is simply an order from my master. As detestable as I find him, I must obey. If you wish to stop me you have to defeat me".
"Bring it!" Shirou then exclaimed as he charged his opponent. Even if his enemy was a servant, he could not forgive such cowardice of involving civilians who had nothing to do with the war. Having an idea what he was up against, he needed a weapon that would not lose to a heroic spirit. With the only legendary weapon in his archive, "trace on!" as Lancer's Gae Bolg materialized in his hand. Recreating Lancer's noble weapon, even he was surprised at how perfectly he copied it as he was literally holding history in his hands. With it, the curse that made Gae Bolg so dangerous.
As full hardy as her opponent was, the purple servant had to admire his courage regardless of his stupidity in trying to take her on. However she still had her orders to which she needed to protect the barrier's source point. Thus jumping back, she threw her chain dagger to which Shirou was quick to parry. But immediately countering, she pulled back wrapping the chain around the spear tip attempting to bind it.
Feeling the tug, Shirou used the forward momentum to throw himself forward as he then swung down with the spear tip aimed right at her head.
But quick to block, the purple servant caught it with the chain circle attempting to push him back. After a brief struggle, she jumped back once more.
Going into guard position, Shirou gave a complete look of focus as he began thinking over the battle thus far. "There is only Berserker, Caster, Rider, and Assassin left. She can't possibly be Berserker and she can't be Caster with what I've seen thus far. So she has to be either Assassin or Rider". But to his thinking, if she was really Assassin she would have used more sneaky tactics by now then a direct conflict. If so, "you must be Rider".
". . . . Impressive deduction. But little good it would do you" as Rider whipped the chain around tying up more of the spear.
Trying to unbind his weapon, Shirou was unsuccessful as his opponent was continuing to tie him down. "I need to end this fast!" as he charged in once more.
However Rider proved to be far too fast even for the mage smith with his reinforced body. Whipping her chain around his arms and legs. Shirou tried persistently to escape it while trying to maintain his visual of her. But he couldn't keep her in sight for long as the purple servant kept jumping into his blind spot in the next moment. Before long he found himself ensnared within Rider's chains as he was then swung back and tied to a tree.
"Damn it. She's too fast for me. The only way I can hit her is with a surprise attack". Seeing Rider approaching with a dagger in hand, he would only have one shot at this. However Gae Bolg was currently tied up in the chains to which he had an idea to what he could do about it.
"I suppose you should be commended for even lasting this long. But it's time you died now" as Rider pulled back ready to drive her dagger right into his head.
"I'm not done yet!" Shirou then exclaimed. His projections were still concepts of his imaginations to which he should be able to freely control it's form while keeping intact that of it's function. So in that moment, he shrunk down Gae Bolg to that of a small hand held spike as the spear escaped that of the bindings of Rider's chains. With his weapon free allowing him some room to move, he stabbed right into Rider's side causing her to fumble back holding her wound.
"Enough!" as the purple servant was now adamant on finishing this.
"Intercept! Saber!"
Sensing danger, Rider jumped back narrowly dodging a fatal strike as a knightly servant had come to the boy's aid.
"Shirou, are you OK?" asked Illya who had just arrived recently.
"Yeah, just get me out of this".
Following closely behind, "Archer, get the surround. Do not allow her to escape" Rin commanded as her servant had his dual blades out.
Looking around, she was completely surrounded as she could not possibly face two servants and three magus on her own especially with a wound on her side. With her Andromeda spell already ruined, there was no reason to stay any longer. "Till next time then" as she jumped up disappearing into the forest night.
As Rider retreated, the barrier had fallen as all the students in the school were now safe.
With the immediate danger over, this left the question in the air of what now as Illya and Rin stared off intently with their servants ready to fight at any moment.
Looking on worriedly, Shirou could not allow this to happen as he didn't want to see any harm come to either of them. "Come on, there is no reason to fight" as he gave a nervous chuckle trying to relieve the tense atmosphere. "Shouldn't we be glad that everyone is OK?"
Not blinking in the slightest, the two masters were waiting for the others response. However . . . . Someone needed to extend the hand of friendship first.
Softening her expression, Illya gave a small smile as she waved her hand for Saber to stand down. Although she might have to face off against Rin and Archer someday, but now . . . . Was not that time. She honestly didn't want to fight her if she didn't have too. So it was only right she started first in an attempt to show her sincerity. "Thank you for helping. Without you, a lot of innocent people might have died".
Feeling the change in tone, the brunette magus softened her features as well. "Of course" as she returned back to her normal self. "Besides I was only doing my duty as a student council member".
With the tension alleviated, they could start talking again. Thus being the case, Shirou wanted to maintain the peace as long as he could. What better way but to unite them under a single ideal. "I think we should call a truce for now. Whoever was behind this attack will more then likely try again. I know for a fact that none of us want to see anyone in school get hurt".
"What are you suggesting?" Illya asked.
"Well . . . . I suggest an alliance till Rider and her master has been defeated. I think it's something we can at least agree with . . . . Right?"
Illya although uncomfortable had to agree with her brother. Being in the middle of a war, it would be good to have some allies no matter how brief it might be. For Rin, it was more of a personal matter. Aside from her own morals and responsibility to the school, she was the current head of the Tohsaka family. With it came the guardianship and care taking of Fuyuki city. Anyone who was so brazen enough to attack it's citizens, she took it as a personal attack on herself.
With this conclusion, the Emiya and Tohsaka family were now allies . . . . For now.
But as they left for the night, they were being watched unbeknownst to them. Standing on a roof top some distance away, a teenage girl with silver hair, red eyes, tanned skin, and wearing German style clothing watched with a predatory like grin. ". . . . Hardly impressive from what I've seen. But probably best to keep watch for now. However there is no doubt about it. I finally found you Illyasviel Von Einzbern. I'm going to enjoy killing you the most". Looking to her side, "Berserker, we're going now".
Standing next to her master was giant adorning black and gold armor with a silver fish scale plating as it's underlay. But with all this servant's prominent features, the one thing that stood out most was the massive hammer he held within his right hand adorning several Scandinavian runes and designs. Carrying his master with his arm, Berserker raised his hammer as they then flew off into the night sky as danger was now looming on the horizon.
To be continued . . . .
Author's notes: Hope this chapter was OK as it's been busy and hot over here. Anyways now for some side notes.
For those who don't know yet, the Archer Rin summoned is actually Shirou from the future who became a counter guardian. But after his so many long years serving as one, he came to regret his decision with how many lives he had to take for the sake of safe keeping the world. So he came back in time to kill his younger self to insure he never goes down his path. Frankly it's one big fat paradox with the whole causality problem. But things will play out differently.
Accordingly to the actual story, Saber has never really met Illya as she had only seen her a few times as a child. Hell, Saber never even knew her name. But for this story they had some time to be around each other a few years back.
For those wondering, Shirou will have a servant. But in a different way for what I have planned for him.
During the attack on the school, Luvia already left for the day to which was why she wasn't present to help out.
Now yes Rin could have summoned Archer when she was caught in her own binding circle, so could Illya at that moment. So for the most part, they did not want to escalate if they didn't have too.
Now I thought about Illya's use of the time alter magic. Before anyone calls hax, there are significant differences between how Kiritsugu and Illya uses it. Now Kiritsugu had to minimize the reality marble inside of himself as to reduce how much prana it took to power the spell. However using it the way he did put a pretty nasty strain on his body and most notably his heart. Illya instead expanded the effects around herself eliminating the problem of straining her body if she decides to go faster such as triple accel or quadruple accel. But as a trade off, it requires a higher prana output. Although she could replenish it, she can't use it back to back so easily. Furthermore which will be noted in future chapter, though she is Kiritsugu's daughter it doesn't mean she has to do things his way.
As noted, Berserker will not be Heracles this time around. For this matter, both Berserker's master and Berseker himself have only been featured within the prisma story. For their identity, spoilers they are Kuro and Thor. Kuro existence is still a bit unexplained, but for the most part she is a direct clone of Illya. Although Thor is still yet to make a full appearance, he is by far a hell of a lot stronger then Heracles. Though I don't know why he was said to be a demi-god is the prisma series.
So thanks for taking the time in reading this fic and I hope you can review it as well.
