Chapter 56: New Classmate(Zoe's POV)
Zoe waits outside the classroom door, nervous to enter. It's a new school, with new classmates, new rules, and there's going to be new experiences.
Trixx, her kwami, says, "What are you waiting for? They're not going to attack you like an akuma would."
"But I'm nervous, first day of school in this new place. I can't rely on my friends to support me because I have to find new ones."
Trixx snorts, "You'll be fine, just act as if you're totally confident. As when you have to use your power of illusion you have to act like it's really happening. This can be practice."
Zoe breathes in, "Well here goes."
She opens to the door to the classroom just as Trixx goes back into her backpack. The teacher Madame Bustier stops mid-sentence of her lesson. Madam Bustier apparently teaches Social and English classes at this school. She wears a blue suit dress and her hair is red like a phoenix.
"Ah, Class this is who I was talking about. She is our new transfer student, Zoe Lee. I expect everyone to make her feel welcome just like you did for Monsieur Kogane and Mademoiselle Rossli."
The class doesn't look very enthusiastic about what Madame Bustier said.
"Lila left us for some random reason to go to Achu and Keith hasn't been exactly the best transfer student." says a girl with brown hair, with light brown skin, dark brown eyes that almost match her hair. She wears an orange flannel shirt and has black glasses on. The seat next to her is empty.
The famous model, Adrien, who is sitting in the front row, turns to look at the girl in the second row behind him.
"Alya it isn't fair to judge this girl because of Lilia and Keith's actions. And remember Lilia had some very important contacts in Achu. And Keith wanted to hang out with Chloe instead of you all because he sensed the good in her."
Zoe giggles a little, so this class has tons of drama history. This should be entertaining. And like Trixx said, it would be a good place to practice her acting skills. As to be honest she isn't looking forward to being entangled into the drama that this class has.
The girl looks at her, "What's so funny?"
"Nothing, just thinking it will be interesting in learning your class history." And then she spots him. He's sitting in the desk on the left side of the room in the front row. The seat next to him is empty, yet he doesn't slide over to sit not near the stairs. He looks like the model who bumped into her.
His violet eyes aren't staring at her, but rather somewhere else in the classroom. And he looks a little sad. One of his hands is on his cheek as he stares off into space.
Madame Bustier clears her throat, "Enough of this banter. Zoe sit beside Alya, and then we can resume to the fun lesson of reviewing for your upcoming exam on Wednesday on the French Revolution."
The girl opens her mouth, "But that's Marinette's seat!"
Zoe looks at Madame Bustier who is rubbing her temples, "Alya, Marinette is gone. Disappeared, poof. We don't know if she will even come back. And if she does we'll figure out the seating arrangement later. Now let Zoe sit there."
The girl sits down angrily in her seat. Zoe makes her way over to her, sits down and puts her backpack on the edge of the floor. Luckily her mother had taught her how to write and read in French for this very occasion. Which Zoe had hopefully hoped would not be the case. But alas, here she is at a French school in Paris, France.
Madame Bustier resumes teaching, and Zoe takes the opportunity to tap Adrien on the shoulder. He looks over at her and she whispers, "Thanks for sticking up for me."
The famous model just shrugs and whispers, "It was the right thing to do."
Zoe smiles, so the famous model is actually a very nice person. Cool.
Then she takes out her notebook, even though she might be expelled from taking the unit exam. But better to be prepared, her favorite drama teacher always says when they do improve. . She will miss her. But hopefully she can find some teachers she likes.
The rest of the school takes a similar turn, as the same class of students go to Science, and they disperse and go to their options courses. She has drama and art.
Drama was fun, and helped her to forget about Alya's rudeness(she learned the name from a boy Nino who looks like a DJ from the way he dresses himself).
Art was a little boring and not really to her style. Art is fine and all, but she's never really liked the way teachers teach art. Then again her focus is to become an actress not an artist.
She adds a brush stroke to her painting, looking at the time. Still another thirty minutes. Sighing she resumes her painting of a background. That's when she hears the door break.
Turning slowly in horror, she looks at the person who broke in. He looks like a navy officer, with the hat and the medals like Captain Crunch, or some old European officer. He's got three medals on his chest on the left side. His skin is blue so that means it must be an akuma. Because akumas can do that, change a person's outfit and skin color in the blink of an eye.
"Where is my daughter Chloe!"
The whole art class just ignores him, which Zoe thinks is a bad idea. The akuma has a military vibe, and to be honest she is scared. Nothing like this had happened in New York. But oh well, that's what you get for transferring in eleventh grade at the highschool who has gotten attacked by akuma almost everyday.
It has lessened, from what she's heard.
But still, that information did not prepare her for facing an akuma up close.
"Preposterous. This is Chloe's school! She would have run off from our get together to visit Keith! After all her dad isn't as fun to hang out around anymore, instead her boyfriend is." The akuma sneers that last part out.
So more drama. Damn this school must entertain it's students daily. Akumas, class drama. This seemed way more like the highschool shown in movies. As movies love to dramatize highschool. Well at least she knows that one school lives up to those standards.
Again the kids ignore him. Zoe only ignores him, because she is shocked and doesn't know what to say.
"You!" he points at a random red haired boy. "I am Maledikteur! And you will tell me where Chloe is."
The boy stands still and says in a monotone voice, "She isn't here. She didn't come to Madame Bustier's class this morning."
"I know that!" seethes the newly named Maledikteur. "I was the one who told her to skip school so I could finally hang out with her. She used to love coming to events with me. Now her time is preoccupied with the Bakery the Du-Pain-Chang's own and her boyfriend that she has! I was glad to see her working a job, but still! I hate her for leaving me alone when all I've done is be the perfect father for her!"
Zoe replies, irritated at this man's behavior, "Well Mister Dictator. Maybe she didn't want you in her life because you were trying to control her. Didn't you say that you forced her to skip school to spend the day with you?" It comes out in English. She didn't mean for that speal to be in English. But she mainly spoke English as she is from New York and hardly used French even though her mother taught her how to speak it properly.
As she said, "As a Bourgeois you must know how to speak in both languages, if you want to still be one, Zephir. Or if my other daughter won't claim my fashion throne, then you'll have to do. And Paris is known for its fashion."
So yeah. She's not entirely sure the akuma even understood a word she said, as he angrily stomps out of the classroom. Then she realizes something. She could be a hero and help Chat Noir and the others. As if he can command someone that would be bad. And her superhero power, as Trix said, is the power of illusions.
Which very easily could make this akumas power of having them do what he wants them to do be null and void. As it would be an illusion.
Quickly she dashes out of the classroom and heads for the girls bathroom with her backpack on. The others are probably going to assume she is going to run home, which is fine with her.
Once in a bathroom stall, she unzips her backpack. Trixx comes out of the bag, her face in a piece of meat jerky. Zoe sighs a little, Trixx had told her all the kwamis had one unique piece of food that helped them get their energy back. And that it was only that sort of food they could eat, period.
Which makes her shiver at the thought.
"I heard the problem Actress. Want to make some tricks so that scumbag will disappear?"
Zoe nods.
"Then all you have to do is say the magic words."
"Trixx Let's Pounce!"
Author's Note: Another Introductory chapter for Zoe! Now the next chapter will deal with the battle of the akuma. And yes someone said English. Now the font used in any English used in Miraculous chapters will be in Bold lettering . If any French words are spoken on the Voltron spectrum the font used will be in Bold lettering. Just to clear up any confusion. After the next chapter we will dive into the Voltron sides of things and then it's finale in the Intro Arc! And then Hero's Day as the finale for the Miraculous side of things. I hoped you guys enjoyed this chapter:)
