*Roland's POV*

I called for my most loyal knight, Sir Finnegan. He came to my office pretty quickly.

"You called Your Highness." he said as he bowed.

"Yes. I require Sofia to be guarded by at least one person for the time being." I said being very serious.

"May I ask why?" he asked.

"My daughter had been ambushed. If not for her quick thinking and a very helpful witch, she would not be here. Her birth father had ordered his men to capture her. He wanted to reunite with her and try and get back into her good graces before trying with Miranda. His son, who's much younger than Sofia in maturity but in age just short of a year younger than her." I said.

His face morphed into one of shock before schooling it, "That man. Your Highness, I must say. I have heard of him from Sofia before."

"You have?" now that the serious part of the meeting passed, I was shocked to know that Sir Finnegan knew Sofia well.

"Yes." he chuckled, "she was just a wee little thing. One of my squires had gotten lost in the forest and couldn't find their way back to camp. Shockingly enough, he had come across her and she helped him back."

"He got lost? Why didn't you yell at him?" I asked.

"I did, but I stopped when I noticed the little one clinging to his leg. She was a tiny little thing, barely knee height on the squire, but she was strong. I thanked her and she gave me a toothy grin. To thank her, I let her stay at the camp. She wormed her way into all my men's hearts. In fact, I had caught a couple of them tossing her back and forth and she was giggling with a bright grin on her face. She loved it. She helped us with food too. She was getting tired so once I was sure most of my men were getting ready to go to sleep, I asked her where she lived. I picked the little lass up and took her home. I made sure she was safe before returning to my men. To my surprise, she was from the closest village to the castle. Which made visiting her on the way back from missions and such much easier." he said.

He had a fond look in his eyes as he talked about Sofia.

"We had been traveling back one day and I let my boys go on ahead while I stopped to check in on her. I found her arguing with an older lady, her mother I assumed, but I wasn't sure. The lady had told her about her father and how he was a good man, that he does wonderful work. Sofia just glared at the woman and ran off. I followed after her slowly and found her in the forest. She was staring off into space when I announced myself. I had to brace myself for the incoming tackle that was the little thing. I asked her what was wrong and she told me all about her father. I had wanted to hunt that man down myself just so he could see what he left behind. That man was a fool to leave behind such a bright and lovely little girl." he said.

"Good, well, I'll have someone on guard for now." I said.

"Of course. I'll put my best man with her." Finnegan said.

"Sire," I heard a voice say nervously.

"Yes?" I said and turned to see a guard standing there.

"Sir, I have a man requesting an audience with you, the queen and the little princess." he said.

"Who?" I asked.

"He didn't say a name," he said.

I was intrigued so I made my way to the throne room. Finnegan bowed and left the room. When I got to the throne room, Miranda and Sofia were already there. Sofia wasn't in a dress though, she was in a fine suit that looked like it was made for James but she filled it out more than he did. She still had her boots on and a pair of bands going over her forearms. Even though Amber was the oldest, at this moment Sofia looked older than she really is. I saw who was behind her and I had to not smile, it was Sir Bartleby. Tilly was in too, sitting to the right of Sofia. I sat down and granted entrance to the man.

"Your Majesty. I am Captain Fraser." he said.

"What is your business here?" I asked.

"I wish to apologize for all I have done to hurt the queen and princess." he said..

Something about it made me want to believe him but from what Sofia said, I didn't.

"Very well." I said to see how this played out.

The man stepped closer to Miranda. He looked sheepish and very apologetic. He apologized for everything he put her through.

"I'm so sorry. I love you." he said.

"I'm with my true husband now and I'm happier." Miranda said.

"But…" he said.

"I am happy here. I thought you had died but apparently not. I have moved on Balthazar. I am no longer yours. You gave me up when you left all those years ago." Miranda said coldly.

The man turned to Sofia. He went closer to her but Sir Bartleby stepped in with a sword pointed at the man.

"Whoa!" he said, "I just want to hold my daughter one last time."

Sofia glared at the man.

"I'm not your daughter. I haven't been for the past five years. Not since you left us for a new wife. I figured out why your trips were so long, you know. You had come home once and I found you writing letters. I was curious and had plucked a letter from the stash. I read it. I came to find out that you had a girlfriend, one that 'satisfied your needs'. Your trips became longer after you got a letter back from her. I found out it was because your girlfriend was pregnant with a boy, a son. Then, a month before he was born, you divorced MY mother for your NEW FAMILY. Why? That woman bore you a son, someone to carry on your name. So no, you do not get to touch me." Sofia said in a cold tone that Miranda winced.

It reminded me of when Sofia was clearing Baileywick's name.

"I'm so sorry sweetie. I never should have left. I realize that now." he said.

"Tell me something Captain." Tilly spoke up.

"Yes?" he asked as he looked at her.

"Did you order your men to kidnap the Princess?" Tilly said.

The man paled slightly before recovering, "I don't know what you're talking about."

"You sure?" Sofia asked this time.

"Yes. I swear." he said.

Sofia smiled a sickening sweet smile, one that really made Miranda wince.

"Oh this isn't going to be good."

"Then your son isn't oh I don't know, trying and failing to break your men out of the castle dungeons right now?" Sofia said.

"No. My son is back in the village." he said.

Sofia motioned for something and out stepped two guards holding a squirming boy in the middle. He was small and trying to weasel his way out of the guard's grip.

"Get your hands off my son." the man said angrily.

"Sire, we found this runt trying to break the men who tried to kidnap the Princess out." the main guard said.

"I'm not a runt! I'm daddy's second hand man! He's the best man and you should listen to him!" the kid said.

"Birk. Shush, that's the king. Be nice." the man said.

"We don't need their help. We're doing just fine with what we're doing." the kid said.

"Yes we do." the man grit his teeth as he explained to the boy.

"What do you need help with?" I asked.

"Well, we need some money. We've been struggling since. I was working the odd job." the man explained.

"So what Mom was doing is what you're saying." Sofia spoke up in an icy tone.

I looked back to see Cedric standing next to Sofia.

"Mr. Cedric, please tie them up and cast a truth spell. I want my mother to know what he's truly done." Sofia said.

I was surprised that Cedric actually did the spells well and nonverbally. Hmm, I guess he's not so bad after all. Sofia asked one question and the truth came out. I watched as Miranda learned the truth and she had tears in her eyes. I was expecting to hold both of them in my arms, but it was only Miranda. Sofia was eerily calm and collected as the man that gave her life spewed the truth of his life. Then it got to the reason why he asked for an audience. He was blurting that he wanted to get close to them again just to get favors from the royal family like money. He also confessed to being behind the attempted kidnapping.

Truthfully it was very satisfying to banish them from the kingdom and then alerting the tri kingdom area of the man so they'd be aware as well as Freezenberg which was his home kingdom. The next couple weeks were tense. I managed to get Miranda to tell me what happened from her point of view and she let it go. The trouble was getting Sofia to open up. Sofia had been shut in her room a lot and only came out for school and to visit with Tilly. Tilly was satisfied and was proud of Sofia. She broke out of her shell when the Princess of the Hidden Kingdom had come. We helped her get home to her family of course. It wasn't until Sofia took up Ice Dancing that she relaxed once more. That she slipped back into the Sofia we all know and love.

*Flora's POV*

I knew something had happened. Sofia was much quieter in class. She had also been looking around with a calculating look that shouldn't have ever been in someone as young as her. She was special though I knew that due to the amulet around her neck. Us fairies weren't dumb. We recognized the amulet in the first class she had and I knew that soon she would have problems much more important than school. I knew Sofia was also a genius. I gently nudged her by mentioning Ice Dancing and she joined.

I taught the class and showed them how to move and use the skates. Sofia was just skating around lazily with a relaxed grin on her face. Today she was off in her own little world but we were also sharing the rink with the hockey team.

"Heads up!" James said.

Sofia snapped out of wherever she was and had caught the out of control puck. She threw it back to the hockey boys and went back to lazy skating.

"Alright class, today we'll be learning a new move." I said.

I saw Sofia's attention was on me even though she was staring off into the distance.

"Today, we will be learning how to do the Stargazer Spin." I said.

I demonstrated and the other girls followed suit. Sofia picked it up pretty quick. When she landed, she had a thoughtful look on her face. I watched as she gained speed and kicked off. She did a very very complicated flip and landed perfectly. When she landed she had a grin on her face.

"Ha! It does work!" she said happily.

"Sofia, you've had experience with flips before." Amber said fondly.

Sofia just smiled. I watched as she went through a series of moves with a big grin on her face.

I announced that we were having a dance recital soon and Sofia's face lit up.

"Ms. Flora, is it possible that a friend of mine could be my partner? She knows how to skate so all she'll have to do is get used to the enchanted bit." Sofia said.

"Of course dear." I said.

She cheered and spun around. I hung back as the other girls left because practice was over. I could tell Sofia thought she was alone as she had a big toothy grin. One that I knew hadn't shown an appearance in a while. I watched as she sped around the ice at incredible speeds. She did flips and spins and twirls that were complicated. She had managed a triple fireball flip with perfect form. I couldn't wait for her performance.

So over the course of the two weeks to prepare, I caught Sofia practicing more advanced things when she thought she was alone. I could see her excitement. It wasn't until about two days before the competition that I got a glimpse of her partner. It was an older male who looked really happy that he was with Sofia. I watched them practice and I knew that I had to wait till the show to see their routine.

I made sure that it was an entire school event so the hockey team had to watch too. When the day came, Sofia had a big grin on her face. She was really excited. I had her as the last on the roster to go. The other girls were good and Amber was the one right before Sofia.

"Girls, come on, let's go sit in the stands. I want to watch this from the stands." Amber said quickly.

Cleo had apparently caught on and hurried after Amber, with the other girls following shortly after. I announced Sofia and her partner. I waited and an ominous silence fell over the audience. I saw Amber bouncing in her seat. Then, just when I was about to call them again, Sofia came skating out of nowhere. The boy I saw her with earlier came in from a different corner. They came together and spun. She launched them both so they both did a flip. They did an inward tuck too. I watched as they threw in complicated flips and tricks. Some with the boy as the base and some with Sofia as the base. I was expecting them to end it with a bang, but they didn't. They ended it with a very simple routine. IT was beautiful!

AN: This one is apparently really short. My bad. Next one is a bit longer. :) ~Immortalshark
