Chapter 60: Processing Occurs(Marinette's POV)
Marinette sighs as she leans against the wall outside of Shiro's room. To think he was still alive after all this time. But that begs the question, why didn't Black go after Shiro if that was the case? Something felt off. And certainly the Black Lion wouldn't transport into a Galra ship.
What was she missing? Shiro had vanished, and now she finds out that he had been taken captive by the Galra. But that doesn't make any sense. Like she thought earlier Black wouldn't have made Shiro disappear only for the Galra to find him.
But that's what Shiro remembers.
Yet still, she has this feeling that something isn't right. Especially since if the Black Lion knew Shiro was alive, would it not have chosen her to lead? Voltron had needed a leader, but the bonds the Lion's share to the paladins; she can't imagine Black taking up a new paladin in Shiro's stead. Yet the Black Lion did.
And that's what bugs her.
Because if the lions truly did bond with their paladins then Black would have done what Red did when Keith was here. Do anything for him. Yet Black didn't.
Red she could understand, because Keith was gone and it would take forever to go to Earth just to have him pilot Red. And they couldn't leave the universe vulnerable either to chase him down. As Allura and Coran don't even know Earth's coordinates so they can wormhole there with the Castle of Lions.
Then that would lead to a mass panic, because no doubt everyone on Earth would panic if they noticed the Castle landing on Earth, thinking Aliens have finally invaded and proving that there are indeed aliens out there.
Which wouldn't be good, especially if they just wanted to get Keith and get back to the war with the Galra Empire. Instead they would have many people clamoring for their attention instead.
She rubs her temples, maybe she's overthinking this. Shiro is back, she should be happy. But a part of her doesn't want Shiro here. As she feels like she finally stepped out of Keith's shadow and made her own legacy being the New Leader of Voltron.
Though deciding who would be leader would have to wait until the morning. Maybe she should sleep beside Shiro, just so he doesn't surprise the others. And then she could explain it to them better without putting Shiro in the spotlight.
Marinette is worried for Shiro as well. He looks thin and weak. Like he's spent weeks traveling.
Which again brings the question to her mind, why did Black wait for her to find Shiro?
Silently she slips back into Shiro's room. Why did Black wait for me to save you? She asks in her mind. Perhaps it had something to do with the vanishing act he pulled on them. Again, her mind thinks it's odd for the Black Lion to make Shiro vanish, only for her to save him a few months later.
She pushes those thoughts away. It's not going to help her deal with this situation. Only by focusing on the now, will be able to find the answers she seeks. Hopefully. Marinette sits down and lays on the floor. Tomorrow would be interesting to say the least. And there's that problem of the comet being missing, and…
She shakes her head. That conversion is for tomorrow, as they still haven't figured out what caused the comet to disappear. And none of them have been willing to talk about the events that lead up to the comet disappearing.
Although with luck, the conversation should go smoothly. If Lady Luck permits them to have an actual conversation tomorrow, instead of people being silent. Although with Shiro back that shouldn't be a problem.
Marinette's eyes get heavy from exhaustion. Reluctantly she falls asleep, allowing the darkness of the night to envelope her.
Author's Note: Alright so the plan is to have a few more chapters dedicated to clone Shiro and the team getting used to having him around before the big conflict of leadership happens in Tailing a Comet. Cause to be honest I would have like in the show VLD if we got to spend more time with Keith and Shiro clashing. As after that one clash Keith leaves in Season Four to be with the blades. So yes there will be more exploration into that with Marinette and the clone before the big finale. And then it's on to Hero's Day for the Miraculous side of things. Anyways I hope you guys enjoted this chapter about Marientte thinking(because Marinette is smart. I don't think her character wouldn't have noticed how strange the situation is for Black to just now find Shiro's clone and she also isn't as attached to Shiro to just brush off the strangeness of it all to have him back).:)
