Kelly wakes up early, he untangles himself from his fiance's limbs, he notices Evan is still sound asleep so he quietly goes to the kitchen to make coffee. Once he gets to the kitchen he sees Eddie's up. He checks the time and sees it's 6am.
"Hey, sorry if I woke you." Eddie says, handing Kelly a mug full of coffee.
"Thanks man, and you didn't wake me. I couldn't sleep, what about you? Why are you up so early?" Kelly asks, taking a big sip of his black coffee as he leans on the island counter across from Eddie.
Eddie sighs, rubbing a hand over his face, then says "I got a date with Stella Kidd Tuesday night after shift and I don't know if it's too soon since Anna or not?"
Kelly has a look of surprise on his face, then he says, "wow, Stella's a great girl, I think you two would be great for each other. As for it being too soon after Anna, like you said the other night at Bobby's, you were together for all the wrong reasons. So maybe moving to Chicago and starting over, going out with Stella is exactly what you needed." Kelly pauses as he takes a sip of coffee, then continues "I think Stella also would be great with Chris and I know that's probably important to you. So I'd say take a leap of faith and go out with her, even introduce her to Chris. You might be surprised." Kelly tells the younger firefighter with a smile over his coffee cup.
"I think you're right, honestly L.A was getting tiring, and I felt like the 118 was coming undone as a family. I could just from being at Molly's last night the 51 is such a big family. I want that for Chris and I. And I think Stella's great just from talking to her last night. So I'm gonna take the leap of faith. Thanks Kelly." Eddie tells the Lieutenant.
They finish their coffee quietly, each lost in their own thoughts. Eddie is thinking about whether or not he'll ever have what Kelly and Buck have.
Whether or not he'll ever have more kids, if he will have his own happily ever after.
Meanwhile, Kelly's thinking about his wedding day that's fast approaching and how he can't wait to make Evan his husband. He's also thinking about becoming a father. He thought that chance died along with Shay, but now he has another chance and with the man that he loves more than life.
After about an half an hour lost in their thoughts, Evan emerges from his and Kelly's room. "Good morning , sleeping beauty." Kelly says kissing his fiance tenderly on the lips.
"Morning. Need coffee." Evan says groggily, making the other two men laugh.
Kelly hands the blond man a cup of coffee, he watches in amusement as Evan drowns his coffee in sugar and cream, saying "I never did understand why you drink coffee when, after you're done with it, it's just like syrup. Not even resembling coffee." Kelly chuckles, as Evan sticks his tongue out at the other squad Lieutenant.
Eddie snickers from the other side of the island at the couple's banter.
They have their coffee and talk about how their day is gonna go.
"I'm going to take Chris sightseeing, any recommendations?" Eddie asks as he helps prepare breakfast for the 5 of them. "The aquarium and navy pier are a must." Evan says.
Kelly nods his agreement.
"Okay, I'll take him there then." Eddie says, cracking eggs for the pancakes.
"We have that meeting with DCFS in an hour and half, then we gotta meet Casey at the house at noon. We have also gotta go to the bakery and pick out our cake. We have a busy day." Evan tells kelly.
"Yes that we do, especially if we are bringing the kids home soon. We gotta get everything they will need." Kelly explains. Evan nods his agreement.
"If you need any help just let me know." Eddie offers.
"Thanks man." Kelly tells the firefighter.
"Thanks Ed's " Evan smiles at his best friend.
Just then Carla and a grumpy Christopher emerge from the spare rooms.
Christopher is not a morning person.
He plops down on the sofa, resting his head on the back of the sofa making the adults chuckle.
"Good Morning superman." Buck calls over to the little boy.
"Morning bucky." Chris returns.
"Breakfast is almost done kiddo." Eddie assures his son who just nods.
Carla grabs a cup of coffee, then says "I have had an idea, and I wanted to run it past you three." She says seriously.
Buck and Eddie raise an eyebrow at each other as Kelly shuts off the pan and gives Carla his full attention.
"Well you know that my husband died almost two years ago now, and I just threw myself into working with Christopher. So I was thinking why don't I move out here as well as there's nothing tying me to L.A anymore. Then I could also watch Buck and Kelly's kids to see if that's okay with all of you?" Carla asks and offers.
"Wow." Is all Eddie can say.
"We would so Appreciate that,Carla but we don't expect you to uproot your life for us." Kelly says, squeezing his still stunned fiance's hand.
Carla waves a hand in the air, emphasizing that it's no problem, as she says "I want to do this."
The three men look at each other and nod, silently agreeing that it's a good idea.
"Okay, we would love for you to stay, Carla, your family." Evan says, taking a step away from his fiance and hugging the woman that's became a close friend to him.
"Thanks, Buckaroo, I appreciate that. So I'll look at apartments today while Eddie and Christopher are out sightseeing." She tells the group who all nod.

Kelly and Evan finish their breakfast along with Eddie, Carla and Chris. They get their wallets, phones and keys, they tell the other two to lock up when they leave, they then head to the mustang to head towards the DCFS office.
Kelly looks over at Evan at a red light, who is bouncing his knee up and down, which Kelly has known the man long enough to know it's a nervous tick.
"You okay babe?" Kelly asks as he puts a reassuring hand on the other's thigh, then squeezes gently.
"Mmhm" evan says clearly lost in his own thoughts.
"What's going on in that beautiful head of yours?" The older squad Lieutenant asks.
Evan exhales deeply, running his hand through his short hair, then he says "I'm scared that we won't be able to adopt. I'm terrified because I want this so badly and I just feel like I don't deserve to be happy." Evan takes a breath then continues. "I feel like this is all a dream that I'm gonna wake up, back in L.A in my apartment all alone. Because the Universe could never let me be this happy. Could it?" Evan ends his rambles by sighing and throwing his head back against the headrest.
Kelly let's put a breath, he hates seeing and hearing how badly Evan thinks of himself.
"Ev, baby, you deserve all the happiness in the world. You are the most caring, compassionate, selfless person I know. You have a heart of gold and you deserve to be loved as much as you love." Kelly takes a breath in and glances at Evan as he Is at a stop sign, then continues with saying "when you love someone Ev, you love with all your being, with all your souls and any child would be so lucky and blessed to have you as a dad. And I'll make damn sure the world sees that you deserve happiness too." Kelly finishes as he pulls into the parking lot at DCFS. Evan is so smitten and taken back by how someone could think so much of him, he reaches across the console, he cups Kelly's face in his hands then kisses him tenderly, saying "thank you I love you so much Kel." Kelly returns the kiss, then kisses Evan's birthmark, then he tells his fiance "I love you baby and I meant every word." Evan nods his understanding. They exit the mustang, once side by side, they intertwine their hands together and walk towards the building.
Once to the part they need to be in, they reach the reception desk and Kelly says to the woman "Hi we have an appointment with Jane Walton." The woman smiles at them, then says "name please?"
"Kelly Severide and Evan Buckley." Kelly says happily.
"Okay right this way Mr.Severide, Mr.Buckley." the receptionist says, leading the way to an office with a gorgeous view of the Chicago skyline.
"Ms.Walton, Mr.Severide and Mr.Buckley are here." The woman says to a tall tanned woman with dark brown hair and green eyes. "Thanks Tessa." Jane says dismissing Tessa.
"Come in, Lieutenants ." Jane says gesturing for them to sit on the sofa on the side wall facing the skyline, with a chair in front of the sofa that she occupies.
"Thanks for seeing us so soon, especially since we haven't even applied for adoption yet." Kelly says resting his hand on Evan's thigh.
"No Problem, I worked with Mr.Casey and Ms.Dawson, it's sad what happened to their situation, but unfortunately it happens. I also have immense respect for first responders, so you're lucky." Jane says with a light chuckle, making the couple chuckle as well.
"So have you talked about the fact that I want to place four siblings between the ages of 10 and 2 with you guys?" Jane asks, looking between Kelly and Evan.
Evan's the one to speak this time, saying, "yes we have and we would be honored and so thrilled, and happy to give them a family, a home and most importantly all our love that we have to give, and we have a lot of love to give." Evan says nervously.
Jane smiles at the young firefighter.
"I'm going to admit, I really like you two and I think you would be great parents. From what I've read from you two from public articles and what Mr.Casey has told me, I think you are the ones I've been searching for for these siblings." Jane takes a moment, smiles, then goes on to say "these siblings have been in foster care for a year now, they lost their parents to a drunk driver. Lucky only the oldest was within the accident, he suffers from nightmares from the accident. So when I found out you guys were firefighters I thought right off the bat that you'd be perfect for these kids cause you can probably relate to nightmares, and you can explain it out to him in a way that not just anyone can. Am I right?" Jane says and asks. Making both men nod then Kelly's the one to speak.
"You're completely right, I can't imagine witnessing your parents die in such a horrible way at such a young age. But we can handle the nightmares or any questions or anger they might have."
Evan nods his agreement.
Jane is very impressed by this couple, she thinks they are perfect for these kids that have warmed their way into her heart. She hasn't wanted to place them with anyone but she thinks Kelly and Evan will be perfect.
"Okay, so you work 24 hours on and 48 off correct?" Jane asks.
Evan's the one to speak next.
"Yes, but we already have an amazing nannie who is a dear friend of ours and a retired nurse, ready to look after them while we are on shift." Evan explained.
"Okay, do you have a big enough home?" Jane asks with a raised eyebrow.
Both men sigh then Kelly says "we have two spare rooms at the moment and Casey is actually helping us find a bigger home. We have an appointment to look at one that's in a great neighborhood and school district around noon, Casey also got it so if we want it we can close on the house quickly." He examined.
Jane smiles widely.
"Okay well as far as I'm concerned you are now these siblings' parents. I'll put all the necessary paperwork through and we can move this through fast. They have no living relatives so you don't have to worry about that. Would you like to meet your children?" Jane asks.
"Yes absolutely." Both men say excitedly, they can't believe this is happening.
"Okay you can change the children's middle names and last names so you can decide on that once you meet them, let's go." Jane says, Both men are so shocked, they just nod and follow Jane to a family room where four dark brown haired children with bright blue eyes are playing.
Jane walks over to the children and crouches down to their level, and says "hey guys, I've finally found you the perfect home with very loving parents. These are your new dads, kelly and Evan." Jane says.
"Hi." Both men breath out in unison.
"Hi" they all say to their new days, the oldest girl comes up to kelly and Evan and says "I made this for you guys, jane told us a little about you before you came so I was able to draw an accurate picture. She said your both fireman." The little girl says ha ding Evan a drawing. His breath catches sin his throat at the drawing. It's of the four kids then kelly and Evan in their turnout gear with a fire truck in the back. But what really melts Evan's heart is what she wrote. 'Our heros' so simple yet it has so much meaning.
"Thank you so much I love it, sweetie. What's your name?" Evan asks.
"Skylar. Your welcome and I'm glad you like it." Skylar says.
"Well skylar I love it and I thi k we should frame it what do you say?" He asks the 7 year old.
She nods her head rapidly with a wide smile on her face.
"I'd love that." She says
"Okay thenngbats what we will do." Evan says mater of factly.
Kelly watches in awe of Evan and Skylar, he knew evan would be a perfect dad. All of a sudden he feels a tug on the sleeve of his jacket. He turns to see the oldest.
"He extends his hand and says I'm Nathan, but you can call me Nate, I'm ten years old." The young boy says very politely.
Kelly crouches to his eye level and says "Ihi Nate, I'm kelly, when your ready you can call me papa or pops if you want and that man talking to your sister is Evan but some people call him buck but when your ready you can call him dad." Kelly says smile g then he opens his arms for a hug instead of a handshake, nate take the offer and sinks into Kelly's chest, nate whispers against Kelly's chest "thank you for adopting us." Kelly can feel hot tears on his T-Shirt. Kelly feels tears sting his own eyes as he says "of course buddy, we are going to protect you and love you all so much." Kissing the boys hair.
Jane watches in amazement at how we they are getting along.
The 5 year old boy comes over and hugs both men saying "hi my name is James." He says happily.
"Hi I'm kelly, but you can call me papa when your ready." Key says hugging the little boy. Evan hugs nate then hugs names telling both boys they can call him dad or daddy whenever their ready.
They adults and older children are interrupted by their baby sister tugging onto Kelly's pant leg."hey princess, were you feeling left out, baby girl?" Kelly coos at throttle girl who pouts her lip and nods. "I want hug" she says with a pout in her little two year old voice. Kelly quickly sweeps her into a hug and kisses her hair, he looks to Jane and ask "what's this princesses name?" "Avery" Jane answers.
Kelly nods and kisses Averys head again.
"Do you have their full names figured out" jane asks. Kelly and Evan look at each other and nod.
"This princesses full name will be Avery Leslie Buckley-Severide." Kelly says
Evan then speaks up saying "Skylar is Skylar Shay Buckley-Severide."
"Nathan Andrew Buckley-Sveride." Kelly announces.
"James Benjamin Buckley-Severide." Evan says happily maki g kelly look at him surprised they had discussed all the middle names besides James they were stuck on a second boys middle name, so kelly gave the choice to Evan, who of course already knew what the boys middle name should be but wanted to surprise Kelly.
"Beautiful names." Jane says.
"If you want to sign the paper work, we can make this official." She says happily. Both men nod happy to finally have their big family.
While evan is busy signing his portion of the paperwork kelly texts Casey to bring his surprise to the DCFS office to surprise Evan. Casey agrees to and then Kelly's signing his part of the papers and then they are walking out of the office with four kids and four very small bags of just close and personal items they had. Which breaks Evan's heart that, that's all they had.
Once I the elevator Evan asks his fiance " how are we all gonna fit into your Mustang?" Evan starts to panic, Kelly puts his free hand that doesn't have Avery in it on his lovers forearm, saying "I've got a surprise, dont worry" he says with a wink.
Evan suxks in a sharp breath, and nods. They reach the out side of the building where casey is standing there leaning against a brand new 2022 Kia Carnival minivan. Evan gasps, he looks to his fiance and asks "is that ours?" Kelly nods, saying "yea babe it is. When we decided we want to have a family I bought it online. When jane called I pulled strings for it to be ready and for Casey to be able to pick it up today to surprise you." He says kissing Evan tenderly. Then he looks to his kids and says "guys this is your Uncle Matt. Matt this is Nathan Andrew Buckley-Severide, Skylar Shay Buckley-Severide, James Benjamin Buckley-Severide, and this little one in my arms is Avery Lesile Buckley-Severide." Kelly says introducing his kids to his best friend.
"Hey guys it's very nice meeting you all!" Matt says
"Nice meeting you to." Nate says.
"Are you a firefighter like daddy and Papa?" Skylar asks, making Evan and kelly gasps at the fact that she comfortable enough to call them dad and papa already.
"Yea I am, I work at the same firehouse as well." Casey tells the little girl.
"Awesome your all superheroes. " she says excitedly making the three men chuckle.
"You get the car seats?" Kelly asks casey who nods , saying "yea I did, sylvie helped me with that part."
Kelly nods and puts avery who's alseep into her amcarseat and then james, and skylar into their bosters.
"Heres the keys to my mustang, be careful with her. We will meet you at the house." Kelly tells Casey hesitantly passing casey the keys to his baby to casey, making Evan chuckle.
"I will be careful, see you guys soon." Casey says and heads towards the car.

Kelly and Evan buckle up and make sure name buckled, then they drive off to their hopefully new house.
Neither man can believe this is really their life name, they are beyond happy.
They guardian angel is looking down on them, beyond proud of her boys….
