It's the day before the wedding and Evan was 100% right. Maddie has been running around trying to get everything perfect for her brother and soon to be brother in law.
The kids have been happy spending time with their aunt and everyone from L.A.
Nate's been happier which makes Evan and Kelly's hearts soar with love for the 10 year old.
Evans making breakfast as his sister enters the kitchen.
Maddie and Chim has been staying with Kelly and Evan along with booby and Athena. Hen and Karen and Denny are staying with Eddie and Chris making the young boys happy to see each other again.
Harry and May stayed in L.A with their dad as they both didn't want to burden anyone and wasn't really close with Evan anyways.
Evan heard his sister sigh and he looks up from the stove, with a raised eyebrow.
"What's wrong, sis? The way you're acting you would think you're the one tying the knot tomorrow." Evan says, making them both chuckle.
"I feel like it, but no the florist had to cancel so I found a last minute one that could get the flowers to the park tomorrow. I got it all fixed." Maddie says as her brothers face shows worry.
"Thank you Maddie, for all your help. We do truly appreciate it. I truly appreciate it." Evan says rounding the island and hugging his sister before going back to the bacon and eggs he was making.
"No problem, it's not everyday your baby brother gets married and I'm happy to help." Maddie says with a bright smile.
Just then Kelly enters with a cranky Avery in his arms and a sleepy looking Nate, Skylar, and James behind him.
"What's the matter sweet pea." Evan asks Avery then addresses his other children as he takes Avery out of Kelly's arms and Kelly takes over the breakfast.
"Good morning, kiddos you look tired." Evan says as he try's to stifle a chuckle at an eye roll from Sky.
"It's to early." Sky whines.
"Yea dad, it's summer, we should be able to sleep in." Nate complained.
"I know guys but we have a lot to do today to get ready for the wedding tomorrow." Evan explained. He looks to James who is curled up onto his aunts lap and has fallen asleep again.
"Well he's not an early riser either." Evan says gesturing to James making the other father chuckle.
"He gets that from you." Evan states
Kelly holds a hand over his heart in mock afence and has a shocked look on is face "im appalled, baby, im an early riser." Kelly feigns innocence making the adults chuckle, including Kelly.
"Yea and pigs are about to fly." Evan says sarcastically, playfully rolling his eyes, making Kelly swat at Evans back side.
"Hey now." Evan says making Kelly and Maddie laugh.
Just then Athena and Bobby enter the kitchen.
"Good morning everyone." Athena says kissing sky's and James hair and ruffling Nate's hair then, plucking Avery away from her dad, but she goes willingly.
"Good morning everyone, how did everyone sleep?" Bobby asks.
"Not long enough." Nate and Sky complains in unison.
Making everyone chuckle.
"How did you guys sleep?" Evan asks as Chim walks in.
"Good, that bed is like heaven, buckeroo." Athena tells Evan
"Yea we made sure the guest beds were comfy we didn't want anyone on an uncomfortable bed when they visited us.
Chim sits by Maddie and gives her a kiss as there's a knock on the door.
"I'll get it" kelly says as Evans plating up the food now.
"It's probably hen and Eddie and them" Evan states.
Kelly opens the door to find the last person he expected to see.
"Mom?" Kelly asks shocked.
"Kelly, why did I have to find out by accident from Karl Grissom that your getting married?" Jennifer asks as she enters the house when Kelly steps a side to let her in. Kelly rubs a rough hand over his face, then try's to explain "you told me when I called you from L.A that you wanted nothing to do with me if I was going to be with a man. The fact that I'm with Evan and marrying him, has not and will not change." Kelly says angrily.
"Well, Kelly I expected you to sleep with every woman in Chicago like your father, I never thought you'd settle down. But to hear that your with a man is appalling." Jennifer states with hands on her hips.
Kelly's fuming, yes his father was one to sleep with lots of woman but that doesn't mean kelly has to or wants too.
Just then Evan comes into the porch to see what's going on.
"Kel, what's going on?" Evan asks eyeing up the strange woman in their house.
"Ev, baby, this is my mom, Jennifer Severide." Kelly says sighing.
"Oh!" Evan exclaims, he knows what she said when Kelly had told her that he was with a man the first time then again when they were in L.A. So it's confusing to him why she's here the day before their wedding, of all days.
"You must be the man my son is shacking up with!" Jenifer snarls making Kelly angery.
"Let's take this outside. I don't want the kids to hear this." Evan says calmly as he placing a calming hand on his fiancés arm. Kelly nods and leads Jennifer and Evan outside on their front porch.
" what kids?" Jenifer asks before Kelly gets a chance to respond to the slam she gave Evan.
"Our kids, we adopted four siblings." Kelly says feeling deflated.
"You have kids?" Jennifer's face softened.
"Yes, and you won't be a part of their life if you can't respect Evan, or the fact I'm marrying him." Kelly explained harshly. Evan puts a reassuring hand on Kelly's forearm, they lock eyes and then Jennifer interrupts the moment by saying "I'm sorry Kelly." Jennifer's voice cracks as she continues "you know me, I don't know how to deal with this." She says gesturing between Kelly and Evan.
"You deal with it by accepting me for who I am, you don't have to like it but this is my life. This is who I am mom, I love you, I truly do but I'm not above cutting you out of my life if you can't accept my family." Kelly says.
"Okay, I'm truly sorry Kelly, I'm also sorry to you as well Evan, I'm sorry for getting off on the wrong foot." Jennifer wipes her tears and hugs Kelly who says "thanks mom I forgive you, this time." Kelly releases his mother from his grasp, then she hugs Evan who gladly accepts the peace offering.
"Would you like to meet your grandkids?" Kelly asks.
"Absolutely." Jennifer says with a big smile on her face.
"Okay we have a lot of people here from Evans old fire house in L.A as well as his sister and her boyfriend." Kelly warns.
"Okay, I'll be on my best behaviour Kelly." Jennifer says knowing that was Kelly's worry.
"Thank you." Kelly says
"So Evan, how old are you?" His future mother in law asks.
"Almost 31." The younger man says.
"Oh okay, you look younger than that, sir you only 11 years younger than Kelly." Jennifer states
"Yea, we don't care about the age difference, Age is just a number." Evan tells Jennifer, who nods her agreement.
Just before they get inside the house Eddie and everyone from the loft as well as Stella shows up.
"Hey guys." Evan says happily.
"Hey, Maddie getting on your nerves so much you had to come out to the porch?" Eddie ask chuckling.
"Well, Maddie is running around like a headless chicken just like I knew she would, but no, that's not why we were out here. Everyone this is Kelly's mom, Jennifer Severide." Evan explains and introduces Jennifer.
"Oh hi I'm Eddie Diaz and this is my son Christopher." Eddie says.
"Hi, nice to meet you, oh Stella! How are you?" Jennifer asks when she sees Stella.
Stella hugs Jennifer then says "it's good to see you Jennifer, I'm good, how have you been?" Stella asks as they let go of each other.
"I've been ok." Jennifer says honestly.
"How do you two know each other?" Eddie asks.
Kelly and Stella share a look.
"What?" Evan asks.
Kelly sighs "Stella and I dated for a while while you were in L.A." Kelly says honestly
"Oh…" Eddie says looking at Stella with a raised eyebrow.
"Why did you guys break up?" Eddie asks crossing his arms across his chest.
"Kelly was still in love with Evan and it just didn't work. We remained good friends that's all. I'm so sorry Evan." Stella says Evan nods then without saying a word or looking at Kelly he enters the house..
"Just fucking perfect." Kelly says glaring at his mom then storms in the house after Evan. He catches a glimpse of him going up the stairs and follow him.
"Ev, baby, please talk to me." Kelly says speaking softly as they enter their bedroom.
Evan whips around, showing Kelly the fact that the other man has been crying. Evan wipes at his hot tears furiously.
"I can't believe you played me like a fool?" Evan exclaims louder that he'd of liked.
"Baby, I didn't play you I'm sorry that I never told you. I should of-" Kelly says but Evan cuts him off by saying, "damn right you should have told me. I've walked around the damn firehouse clueless. I feel like a damn fool." Evan tells, throwing his arms in the air.
"Baby, your not a fool, it's my fault I should of been honest with you. I can't tell you how sorry I am. But I love you so much, and I don't want this or her to ruin us or the fact that we are getting married tomorrow." Kelly explained, tempting to get closer to Evan who lets him.
"I'm scared Kel, if you kept this from me what else are you hiding?" Evan asks as he fairs down onto the king size bed.
"I'm not hiding anything else baby, and I wasn't intentionally hiding this from you!" Kelly exclaims taking Evans hand into his own and kissing his knuckles.
"I love you Evan Ryan Buckley and I can't wait to make you my husband tomorrow. Please, I beg of you don't let my stupidity ruin what we are building together." Kelly pleads with Evan, kissing his neck then his jaw line, up to his birth mark then down to his lips.
once their kiss is broken Evan says "I love you too. But that doesn't excuse the fact that you hid this from me…" Evan says looking Kelly directly in the eyes.
"I know Ev, please forgive me." Kelly begs. As he pushes Evan onto the bed with no resistance as Evans just as gingery for Kelly as the other man is for him.
"I do, just don't do it again ok?" Evan states and asks.
"Deal, I promise ill tell you everything from now on." Kelly says between kissses on Evans neck, sucking onto the blinds collar bone making the younger firefighter moan, a little to loudly.
"Shh, baby I got you, but we have a house full of people." Kelly says.
Evan nods, then takes Kelly's shirt off him as Kelly takes Evans shirt off the you get man as well.
They make out like two teenagers for about ten minutes before theirs a knock on their bedroom door.
Both men groan Kelly's the one to Answer the door after he hurriedly puts his shirt on and he rights himself in his jeans as Evan does the same.
The salt and pepper haired man opens the door to his future sister-in-law and Stella.
"Hi, sorry if we interrupted anything." Stella says eyeing up the two men. Kelly shoots her a glare, the. Says "what's up?"
"We were worried about you too.." Maddie explained.
"We're fine, Sis. No worries." Evan explained coming to the door.
"Good cause we have lots to do." Maddie says grabbing Evans arm and dragging him off to god knows where. Evan smiles at Kelly before he lets his sister drag him off, quickly kissing the older man then saying "I love you."
"Love you to babe." Kelly replies.
Kelly shuts the bedroom door as he steps into the hall alone with Stella.
"I'm so sorry Kelly." Stella says.
"It's fine, we are fine. But I never told you I am sorry that I couldn't make it work between us but that big goofy, blond haired lieutenant will always have my heart and soul." Kelly explained.
"It's fine I'm in love with Eddie, and don't say anything to anyone as Eddie is the only one to know but, I'm pregnant!" Stella states.
Kelly's eyes bug out of his head, but recovers quickly pulling Stella into a hug then says "congratulations, I'm really happy for you two." Kelly says smiling at his ex-girlfriend.
"Thanks Severide, I'm really happy for you as well." Stella says then they walk downstairs.
The day flys by and before they know it it's the evening and the rehearsal dinner is happening at the J. Parker. Thanks to Doug's money that was left to Maddie they went all out for this wedding as Maddie wanted to do something special for her brother and her brother in law.
She also put some into accounts for each of Kelly and Evans kids for when they grow up. They can access it at age 18.
So they are all sitting around having drinks telling story's about Kelly and Evan, the kids have went home the sitter they hired for this so Carla can be here, Jill Henerdon, she comes highly recommended from boden and Donna. Now it's just the adults getting drunk and having fun.
Sylvie and Stella notice that the other isn't drinking at the same time and they both gasp and exclaim "your pregnant!" In unison, causing everyone to look at them.
"Wait what?" Evan says pretty much choking on his whiskey.
"Matt and I are expecting a baby, we didn't want to say anything during your guys special weekend. So sorry." Sylvie says blushing.
"Don't worry about that we are all happy for you guys! Don't worry about stealing out thunder there's enough to go around." Kelly says hugging Sylvie then clapping Matt on the back.
"Now what bout you two?" Evan asks eyeing up Eddie and Stella.
"We are expecting as well, and again didn't want to steal your guys thunder and we wanted to tell Chris first. We told him this afternoon, when we went home to get ready. He's beyond thrilled." Stella says holding onto Eddie's hand.
"So happy for you guys." Evan says hugging Stella then clapping Eddie on the back, "Happy for you man." Evan says to Eddie who nods and smiles in return.
The evening draws out tell 2am when Kelly goes home to their place and Evan goes to Eddie's to spend the night.
The next time they see each other it will be at the alter…
