A/N:
I can't reply at the moment. Busy nowadays. But this is three-way update. Hahaha!
Anyway, go on!
Chapter Twelve
Tsuna stared at the paper in front of him. His heart pounded in anticipation as he ran for the phone with the paper in hand. His intuition is tell him to call as soon as possible. Maybe something good will happen if he does?
"Tsuna?" His Dad asked from the single sofa. "What are you doing?"
He beamed. "We're having sushi!"
"Really now?"
Tsuna dived for the floor and sat next to Shouta's leg. "It's Takesushi! They make the best sushi in the world! And they're making deliveries! I'll feed you, of course!"
"Fine fine. Go on."
Tsuna beamed again. He punched the number and pressed the phone to his left ear. He waited for the other side to pick up, and they did. The first thing that registered to him was a chirpy woman's voice. His heart flattered as he talked to the woman what he and Shouta wanted to order.
When he was ten, the first he did as a vigilante was to scout the Takesushi to see if Takeshi's mother was still alive. When he verified that she was, he always tried to visit as much as he can to see if the woman is well or not. She wasn't, as he suspected. He did give some hints to Tsuyoshi by saying his wife looks weak and getting paler, even though it wasn't true at some points. He just did those because he remembered how devastated the two were when the mother of their family died. How affected Takeshi to the point that he thought baseball was his life.
His clues gave fruit too. When the chef got enough of Tsuna's hints and worried glances on their matriarch, Tsuyoshi took his wife to the hospital one morning. It took three days for her to recover from the cancer the doctors had to remove from her. When Tsuna visited them for the last time, the woman thanked him for looking out for her. He discovered that her name is Hikari.
When the doorbell rang, Tsuna bolted for the door, causing his Dad to chuckle. When he opened it, the tall figure of Takeshi Yamamoto greeted him. Man. He missed seeing his best friend.
"Oh. Hey. Aizawa residence, right?" Takeshi greeted with his usual carefree smile. "Takesushi delivery-"
Then the impossible happened. Pink smoke engulfed Takeshi and someone taller and a little firmer replaced him. Caramel eyes widened as he took in the suit, the sword strap and the sharp yet warm brown eyes. Then there's also the rings that lit up with blue light. The middle aged version of Takeshi Yamamoto from Tsuna's original world, landed in front of him with his usual carefree yet alert personality.
Caramel met brown. And Tsuna can't help himself from smiling. He reminded himself that he only has five minutes, and to make the very most of it.
"Hey, Takeshi. How's Vongola?" He asked in Italian.
"Tsuna?" His rain gasped, before lunging for him. "Damn. How is this possible?"
"Things happened." He answered as he hugged back, tight and longing. "I'm so sorry I died and left you."
"Tsuna-"
"I miss you. All of you. I really do. I feel so lonely seeing your counterparts. But I couldn't approach them, knowing to myself that they aren't you. I couldn't involve them with my life again."
The rain got what he means. "Tsuna, as long as you're alive, it's okay. We miss you too. All of us do, but we know you don't want us to mope as we don't want you too. You're our sky. Forever and always. So if you want to form your own family, we don't mind. The more the merrier, remember?"
Tsuna's laughter was watery. "You never change, do you?"
"You don't too. You always worry about us." They parted and Takeshi wiped away the tears that dropped on his sky's face. "Still a crybaby. Reborn will never live that down."
"Tell me, how are you? Please tell me no one died after me." He begged, frowning a little.
The noiret shook his head. "Hayato is taking care of everything, of course with the minimal and maximum help of yours truly and the others."
"Destructive as ever?"
"Destructive as ever. Reborn is still at it, keeping the family intact. Xanxus became the boss, and all of us are his guardians. Well, it can't be helped. Primo went out of the ring, by the way. He was cryptic, saying something about you being unable to move on. We thought it was your soul, so we did some fun ceremonies so you won't be like Daemon."
Tsuna burst to laughter. "My God. You just spited Daemon Spade."
The other's grin was mischievous. "We did. I bet Alaude was crying in laughter with G." Then it went serious. "But we didn't think- I didn't think this is what he pertains. Tsuna, I'm not telling you to forget about us. But please, don't strain yourself. We both don't want that. Reborn will shot you if he gets a hold of this."
The brunet bit his lower lip before smiling widely. "I will try. Like you said, the more the merrier."
Takeshi nodded with his own smile.
"Tsuna?" Both looked back to see Shouta walking towards him with a curious and watchful eyes. "The sushi?"
"Hey Dad!" Tsuna greeted before taking Takeshi's hand and making him enter the foyer. "How many minutes?"
"Two more." Takeshi answered before smiling to the man.
"Dad, he might look old-"
"That's a jab. And I'm fifty-three years old." Takeshi commented that Tsuna waved off.
"-but he's a great friend of mine. One of my best friends. He's Takeshi Yamamato, version zero. My blissful rain that washes away the pain." 'Of our family.' Tsuna gestured to Shouta's way for Takeshi. "This is my Dad, Takeshi. He's injured at the moment because of some attack. He's a vigilante hero, Shouta Aizawa or Eraserhead."
Takeshi beamed, not minding the weird names. "If you can handle Tsuna's idiosyncrasies, then you're part of the family. Thank you for taking care of him. The family will forever be grateful. Oh and let me numb the pain for you before I go."
Shouta shot Tsuna a look.
"It's fine." Tsuna grinned. "He's like a walking painkiller."
Takeshi laughed as his hand donned his rain dying will flame. "Still the nickname, sleeptalker?"
"Dying will?" Shouta uttered in shock as the hand touched his wrapped arms. Slowly, the pain numbed away. "Oh."
"Can you take care of Tsuna for me?" The hero stared at the man in front of him who whispered. Warm brown eyes, a little like Tsuna's, looked pleading. "Especially his mental health? He may not look like it, but Tsuna hides away his pain. He never voices anything and takes all the weight on his small shoulders. He trusts you, but he has those tendencies. He does the same with us. So please, take care of him for us. When you feel like something is wrong with how he acts, there is something wrong."
Shouta glanced at his son who is staring at them with clueless expression. "I will. He is my son, after all."
The noiret grinned. "Reborn will argue. Either ways, you can just share him. The sky encompasses everything after all."
"Takeshi! Thirty seconds!" Tsuna reminded in a panicky tone.
"Oh shoot! Nice meeting you, Aizawa-san. That will last for two weeks!" The noiret informed before going outside.
"Watch Dad." Tsuna snickered before gesturing to Takeshi who waved a hand. "This is magic. Arrividerci, my rain."
"See you someday, my sky."
Then the man got engulfed with pink smoke and the young version of Takeshi Yamamoto replaced the older one. The other looked around with clueless expression, and still has the delivery boxes in his hands. He did smile though, when he saw Tsuna and Shouta.
"Here's the money." Tsuna smiled innocently, handing the money.
"Oh yeah. Here's the delivery. Thank you for the patronage." Takeshi chirped, exchanging the boxes for the payment. "You know, I have this really weird daydream."
"Yeah?" Tsuna hummed.
"I was by the door and seeing this long table with people in black suit surrounding it. It was really weird because they invited me in and served me juice and some amazing sweets. They even asked me things, like how old am I, if my mother was alive. They looked really relieved when I told them she is, although some of them curses a lot while saying their praises."
The brunet chuckled in nostalgia. "I bet they made you return to the door."
"Yeah! It was really funny because they said goodbye and wishes my parents well." The noiret laughed. "Anyway, I'll be going."
"Sure. Stay safe." Tsuna bid.
He followed the teen's figure to the stairs before he turned back to Shouta who was watching the interactions. The hero sighed and shook his head.
"I am not gonna question anything anymore." His Dad dismissed, going back inside.
Tsuna closed the door behind him and walked inside. "Believe me, Dad. Even I don't question things anymore."
"Around you."
"Around me."
The two looked at each other before laughing.
Shouta watched his son ready the boxes, humming under his breath. His mind swirled with what happened. The pink smoke, the blue dying will, the interaction between Yamamoto and Tsuna, and the 'sky' and 'rain' calling. Is the dying will flame hereditary? How come that man can wield it too like how Tsuna does? Are there different kinds? How many years have they been seeing each other? And what's with those names?
"What do you want to eat first?" Tsuna queried, eyes shining in excitement.
"I want to eat tuna first." He answered.
The brunet stared at him in horror.
"What?!" He inquired.
"How can you eat my siblings first?" Tsuna cried dramatically.
Shouta rolled his eyes. "You're so lucky I can't use my hands right now."
His son grinned cheekily. "Lucky!"
He retaliated with a kick though, earning a yelp.
Tsuna stared at the paper in his hand. One hundred and thirty points. It was so much different from Bakugou's points in the practical exam, which was seventy-seven. Shouta explained to him that he got fifty on the attacks, and eight on the rescue, that's why he got the highest score. And it was Nezu's effort that he got seventy-six as a final score because they know he doesn't want the spotlight. To think he almost got tasked to say some speech on the sports festival of Yuuei.
How lucky.
Folding the paper, he sighed and put it inside his pocket. He removed his headset and put it inside the locker where he knew it will be safe. Not that he has any important files there.
"Hey Tsuna?" He heard Satou calling out for him.
He looked from his shoulder before closing the door. "Yup?"
"Are you okay? You look down." His classmate asked, frowning. "Are you nervous? Do you want to have some water?"
Tsuna laughed and did some placating gesture. "I'm fine, Satou-san. You're the one jittery between us."
"I do feel nervous. UA sports festival is the counterpart of the famous Olympics. It will be bad if we embarrass ourselves." Satou stated, smiling awkwardly.
He nodded sympathetically. "That's true. We have to be competitive too."
"Maybe it was because of Todoroki's declaration of war?" Both turned to Kouda who whispered that.
"Ha? Todoroki-san declared war against all of us?" Both nodded at his shocked question. He blinked. "Maybe I should declare something too."
"Ha?!" The two blurted.
"Oh hey guys!" He called out, causing all of them to look at him. Even Todoroki and Bakugou. "Since Todoroki-san declared war, I'm gonna declare something too." He coughed in his fist, looked around with a dramatic pause before smiling widely at them. "I'm gonna love all of you."
The reaction was spontaneous. All of their jaws unhinged before red crept in their faces. Even Todoroki, who has this usual stoic expression, covered his face with a hand to cover his reddening cheeks while looking away. The girls really went red too. Tsuna had to run away from Kirishima's, Sero's and Katsuki's reaches because they were going to give him noogies. A lot of them complained, but his intuition tells him that he eased the worry they feel.
After meeting his rain, Tsuna felt like he had to try socializing. He did isolate himself for ten years. So he talked. He went to get to know more about his classmates. Especially the shy ones who remind him a lot of Chrome. He was patient with Kouda who he has to urge to talk about what he likes, even if they have to use sign language while speaking out loud. He discovered that Satou loves to cook and bake. Being a 'man' who has Lambo to demand him food until his tutor tagged all of his family to deman him food, he was able to relate in some recipes.
He shared some music with Jirou who is outgoing when given time. He got to talk with Shouji too in an activity and got to click with him about some certain things. He got to practice his French with Aoyama who went on and started to talk to him in the language one morning, to the point that Bakugou got irritated. Ojirou was the one who approached him though, asking him things about his close-combat style. The only one he couldn't talk well was Todoroki. Even Hagakure and Mineta were cooperative with him.
So far, Shouta enjoys the troubles he's causing in the class. They don't mind him being quiet all the time, or suddenly talking with someone. He actually laid it off with Bakugou and Izuku. He was all around. He doesn't belong to any group. But he didn't mind. He doesn't belong to their age group anyway.
"Don't joke around like that!" Bakugou shouted while holding him on a headlock. "Got it, Tsuna?!"
He chuckled before tickling the blond's side, causing the other to let of him and wiggle away. "What? All's fair in love and war."
"Burn." Jirou remarked, causing laughter among them.
"Okay! Enough joke time!" Iida called out. "Time to go!"
"Yeah!" His classmates exclaimed.
Tsuna sighed as his classmates went out. He looked at his hands and clenched them. "Don't belong, huh?"
Hizashi is jittery. Absolutely freaking jittery. He glanced at his best friend's way, but the other looks so calm that he wants to shout at him for being like that. Dude! His class is going to fight their way up to the sport festival! His son is going to be out there, will get injured on some places, and will probably back down on some fights because he thinks it won't be worth it!
"Relax, Hizashi." Shouta told him. "Tsuna will be fine."
He bit his lower lip. "You think so? He's not the type to get competitive. We both know that."
"You and I are watching. He won't want to disappoint us."
He looked at his best friend. "Really?"
"Yes. He said so himself when I asked him. Knowing him, as long as he get some prize or something, he'll stop there. He's too powerful for these kids."
Hizashi can't stop his grin. He knew, from the moment he realized how matured the four year old Tsuna, that no one will ever beat the brunet in his game within his peer group. "Do you think some of the heroes will remember him as the vigilante they've been asking for five years?"
"With how familiar he looks, I won't even be surprised if a lot of agencies will try to get him intern for them."
He can't help nodding. "Good. That will be good. He deserves the world."
"We both know he deserves it."
Hizashi didn't say out loud how they sounded so doting on their little charge. Well, Tsuna does deserve things. He was never the demanding type. When it comes to his birthdays, he always requests Shouta for a day off, that they'll spend in their apartment, and a night visit to his family in the hospital. Hizashi will go and beyond to give the brunet what he wants, but Tsuna will always want one hug and that's that. Sometimes, he'll force Shouta to surprise the kid, which his best friend will agree within a couple of minutes without further persuading. Just a simple cake, some food for three and a movie to watch, done.
When it comes to other occasions, Tsuna can go grand though. Hizashi remembers those birthdays of his. Being a famous hero, he has fans who can give him a lot of things on his birthday, from small candies to expensive things. But Tsuna? He'll be very thoughtful. At the age of four, the brunet persuaded Shouta to buy some colors. And the first kiddie birthday card with intricate design that Hizashi received was framed in his room. From then on, he'll receive gifts that no one thought of. Like being offered to give hours-long hugs, do things a hero like him can't do anymore as a citizen, and just have a free time of his own.
When it comes to Shouta though, the two will have their own competition. Whenever Tsuna goes leaps and bounds to get him some good gifts, his best friend will go plus ultra to amaze his kid. He remembered how Shouta grinned for a whole week after he received some cat things from the brunet. It scared the most of their co-workers. There's also this one time that Shouta cried after receiving a thoughtful present from his charge. Hizashi never saw his best friend cry after the other died.
Death anniversaries are the same. When Tsuna discovered the death of their best friend, Shirakumo Oboro, he took it upon himself to take Shouta to the cemetery. At first, Shouta got really angry about it. Tsuna made him go outside the apartment to talk with his father. When he was let in again, Shouta was willing to go for the first time. But the somber look on the brunet's face was disturbing that time. No one told him what happened and he left it at that. And each year, they'll visit Oboro's grave, even for just an hour. The Christmas is celebrated too, with him always invited and receiving two gifts from the two, and just spending the days with the two until new year comes. It's every year and things never change.
He remembered that one time he asked Tsuna why he doesn't demand things. He didn't mean ill. He was just curious, because kids around his age demands things. They'll throw tantrums and the likes. Or maybe Tsuna was affected by his parents missing presence. But the brunet said he's contented of what he has. The memories he can accumulate for the passing years and the time he spends with those people he treasures were enough. He said material things can get lost, burned, be replaced when gone. But those emotions he feels with the memories he gained will forever be with him, they always come back, regardless of any disease or phenomena he will go through. Having his family with him is enough. To say Hizashi Yamada cried was understatement. He bawled, alright. Because he never met a human who can love people unconditionally.
(If only he knew how great of a sky Tsuna was.)
"I think we should announce his relationship with his parents too." Shouta suddenly said.
He would've got a whiplash at how fast he turned to see best friend. "W-What?!"
"You're going to announce Todoroki's relationship with Endeavor since he'll be here, why not Tsuna too? That way, they'll know how great he is."
"What about you?" He questioned. "You don't mean for me to leave you out, do you?"
"Of course not." Eraserhead scoffed. "Tsuna will get angry if you leave me out. He's not one to get mad, Hizashi. I told you that. He's much scarier than me. Besides, who ever bad mouths my son will get a piece of my mind as they will also get theirs from Tsuna if they ever say anything about me being unfair. Just so you know, your godson has a sharp as razor tongue."
The blond's grin went wider. "Alright then. Might as well announce his vigilante persona."
"Oho. Good luck then. Tsuna will really really get embarrassed."
"Oh shush. It's not everyday that we see him blushing." He waved off, getting excited. "But you know, I never visioned him going out there, doing these courses. From his own commentary in your apartment or in his own classroom to here. Don't you just get teary eyed at how grown up he is now?"
"He's still a toddler in my eyes."
"Seriously. You're such a party popper. Aren't you worried that he'll get hurt?"
"Vigilante for four years without me knowing?"
"Oh yeah."
"Heh. Remember that one time we were already here and doing this festival when he called and said how stupid that one student for pushing off his competitor instead of helping him? He only called just to point that out."
"I wonder how is he going to fair with this." He grinned before he cleared his throat and started the commentary. "Good morning and welcome to Yuuei Academy Sports Festival, Listeners!"
