Chapter 3 - The Rebel, The Thief, and The Dragon Within
An officer sits down inside of a white room, bright lights shine down on the white padded walls and floor of the room. The only objects in the room are two padded white seats and a white table between the seats.
Sitting across from the officer is a girl with red hair and orange eyes, wearing a white long sleeve shirt, white sweatpants, and two metal cryogenic gauntlets that are locked to the table by powerful magnets keeping her palms flat on the table.
"Regina Pascual" the officer says as he reads a profile from his clipboard "You are fifteen years old, you're American by nationality, but Hispanic from birth-"
Gina rolls her eyes and lets out an exhausted sigh "Get to the point. You idiots have already had me sitting here for over half an hour."
"Your father has decided to send you to a school" The officer says "Quite a good one if I do say so myself, the Charles Jones School for the Dangerously Quirked."
Gina scowls "Dangerous? DANGEROUS?! I've been stuck in this hell of a juvenile prison for so long and my old man just now decides to ship me to some school for freaks?!"
The officer doesn't even flinch at Regina's outburst "The school is located in Switzerland, and it's in the mountains where your Quirk won't be as much of a liability."
Gina glares at the officer, and the metal gauntlets around her hands activate, rapidly dropping the temperature of her body.
Regina Pascual
Quirk: Fever Point
The user of this Quirk is capable of increasing their internal body temperature to intensely hot degrees.
Gina continuously attempts to raise the temperature in her body, but the gauntlets around her hands get colder and colder, and frustratingly Regina tries to raise her hands from the room's table, but gives up after around a minute of struggling against the magnets.
"You said that school was in Switzerland right?"
The officer nods "I did. You'll be staying in the school's dorms, of course the teachers and staff of the school have been informed of your past behavior, and if they determine you are causing trouble then you will be sent back here."
"Back to this hellhole of a juvie," Gina grumbles, "swept back under the rug because my old man only sees me as a failure."
"If you want to stay out of juvie then you'll have to behave yourself. No tagging the school, no fighting, and no burning objects."
Gina grits her teeth, she hates being talked down to, and if she wasn't presented with an opportunity to get to the opposite side of the planet as her family she would have tried even harder to attack the officer "Fine."
"Pack your things in the provided suitcase, and we will send them to the school after searching through it. Your father has loaned his private jet for you to fly to Switzerland."
Regina stays quiet and the officer leaves the room, the magnets on the table turn off and the straps around her legs automatically come off. Regina immediately tries to grab the table, but it is bolted to the floor. She slams the gauntlets into the table in frustration and the most vile of profanity escapes her mouth as she unleashes her anger, but still the freezing gauntlets around her hands keeps her from burning anything in the white room.
She kicks the walls, but not even a speck of dirt can be seen. Everything remains white and bright, white and bright enough to drive anyone mad.
For the past few months she has had to stay in the White-Daisy Detention Center. A juvenile facility known for it's use of "White Room Torture" to "encourage" kids to be more compliant and behaved.
The doors to the room open and two guards dressed in white painted riot gear place Quirk suppressing handcuffs around Gina's wrists and she is taken over to the recreational room.
White walls, white carpet, a white ceiling, and bright lights.
Three other kids are in the room, Gina doesn't know their names, but she knows that a boy with black hair laying on the room's couch had murdered his parents with his Quirk which lets him poison digestible objects. A collar is around his neck, and it shocks him anytime he even thinks about using his Quirk.
As for the other two Gina doesn't know them at all, but she can tell the room's are getting to them as a girl with blonde hair repeatedly but softly hits her head against the padded walls.
She does feel slightly sorry for the girl, and under normal circumstances she would try to fight one of the guards to inspire the others to rebel with her, but doing that could mean her chance of leaving this place could be canceled.
Gina insteads finds a spot in the room not yet occupied, and waits for the time to pass. While there may be no windows or clocks in the room she knows that recreation time only lasts for twenty minutes, she knows this because the boy sitting at the room's table counts each second that passes, stopping at sixty and restarting. Out of the four of them I'm the room he has been the most focused on escaping, and Gina has heard him counting the time passing every time she's been in the same room as him.
"Fifty seven, fifty eight, fifty nine" The boy looks at the doors as they open "One, two…"
Gina and the others walk to the canteen as four more kids walk past them, escorted into the recreational room as the four of them are taken to eat.
White rice served in a white foam bowl, and white foam cups filled with water. The same bland meal every day, the only exception is for those who have behaved. Gina hopes that whatever school she is being sent to has better food than this.
As she eats her food, the collar of the black hair boy shocks violently as he holds his rice in his hands, and as Gina just realizes what he has done he shoves it into his mouth.
Counting guy even stops his timely counting as the black haired boy collapses.
Multiple guards rush into the room, as the boy starts to cough. The counting boy holding him by the back of his neck "I stopped time" he explains to the bewildered black haired boy "You're lucky I've been counting, or else you'd be dead. Now if you excuse me it's time for the vigilante called Timelord to make his grand return."
Timelord vanishes and one of the guards notices that their keys are missing.
The black haired boy is rushed over to the medical office, and the others are taken to their rooms. She knows due to Timelord's escape tainting the reputation of the facility, her father is going to move her somewhere else regardless of her choice.
She packs whatever she has gotten in her time at the facility, and hands the suitcase to the guards.
Stepping outside the facility, color enters the world, and she basks in the warm sunlight as a limo waits for her ahead. An annoying reminder that her father is still trying to sweep her under the rug.
But then she still smiles as an idea forms in her head, if her father wants to hide her, then she'll rebel until there is nowhere he can hide her.
A hairpin squeezes into a lock and presses down on the inner mechanisms, the clear lock pops open and the lockpicker sets the practice lock onto the ground.
The lockpicker moves on from the clear practice lock and tries her hands at the lock on a container.
The pin goes into the lock and the lockpicker focuses on the precise movements deeply.
Click
The lock pops open and Klara Katyusha looks inside the container at her prize.
She takes out a wad of very old looking cash and a pocket watch.
She puts the cash back into the container, having no use for Russian currency from the pre-Quirk Era, but she puts the pocket watch into her bag. The lockpicker closes the container once more and goes to the exit of the vault she wandered into.
"Hey! You can't be here!" A security guard rushes over to the girl, and he grabs her shoulder before spinning her around to see her face. The cobalt blue eyes of the girl look right at the security guard and the guard is affected by her Quirk.

Quirk: Remember-me-not
By passively releasing bio-electrical waves within a 25 ft radius the user can make it so that people around them will forget about the user after looking at the user's face. This also affects digital devices.
Klara brushes her platinum blonde hair to the side of her face as she walks away from the security guard, who closes his eyes and rubs his forehead as if he were waking up from a daydream he can't remember "Huh? What was I doing?" The guard looks around for a bit before going back to his position in a confused daze.
Mutation, Transformation, and Emitter. The three types of Quirks a person can obtain, emitters are almost identical or at least very similar to normal people, transformers can look like regular people before they transform, but mutants.
They are different, they cannot 'turn off' their Quirk, and they are almost always different from normal people.
Which is why they are the biggest targets of Quirk discrimination.
Miles Greyson does his best to be normal, but when one has the appearance of a dragon, that is quite troubling. His large draconic mouth with sharp fangs easily scares little kids, his dark grey scales make the police and heroes wary of him, the three horns on his head intimidate people into avoiding him, his large jagged blue wings have people warning their peers in hushed whispers, and his long tail with an arrow shape at the end has most people staying several feet away when walking behind him. His mutations have him standing at six feet and three inches which is extremely tall for a fifteen year old boy, and he has had trouble fitting in during school because of it.
He looks to the ground as he passes some schoolmates in the hallways of his school, they have strong Quirks and a history of showing them off.
"Hey lizard, it's rude to avoid people."
There it is, they saw that he was trying to avoid them.
"M-my bad" Miles says, hoping that he can at least try to avoid trouble "I was just thinking about stuff."
"Yeah? Like a rock and a heat lamp? Lizards like you love those things."
While what the bully said did sound quite nice, Miles still knows an insult when he hears one "That does sound nice" Miles replies, trying to stay on the bully's good side, trying to keep himself-
"Ok, then maybe you should go to the zoo where you belong. You freaking animal."
Miles stops. The word 'animal' echoes in his head, filling his head with- "Now that was a bit uncalled for."
"Oh? Does the lizard think he's a person like me? Animals like you should know their place!" Miles feels a fist drill into his stomach, knocking the wind out of him.
"You already have a collar, you let me get you a lease!"
The bully's lackey uses his Quirk to generate a glowing yellow piece of string that attaches itself to Miles' collar, a device that he needs in order to-
The yellow string is pulled and Miles is punched in the face "Focus freak. You are an animal so let's go for a walk around the school."
Miles feels the collar activate and he knows he has an hour until the chemicals being injected into his body knocks him out.
Miles grabs the yellow string "You want an animal, fine. I'll give you one."
Miles Greyson
Quirk: Electric Tarragon
In addition to enhancing his physical capabilities and the ability of flight he can produce large electric currents in his body similar to an electric eel.
Miles rips the yellow string from his collar, his wings spread out and he grabs the lackey before slamming them against the lockers in the hallway with enough force to dent them.
Miles drops the now unconscious lackey and shifts his attention to the bully; he rears his head back channeling electricity through his body, as he unleashes the electricity he lets out a vicious roar, right in the bully's face.
Miles feels his collar kick in even more and his vision darkens.
When he wakes up he is back home, his blank memory a worrying reminder of why he tries to fit in, and instead of his mother he has been left a note and a letter.
"Charles Jones School for the Dangerously Quirked" Miles reads the letter, before reading the note and finding out that he had been expelled from his old school "I'm being flown to Switzerland?!"

Villain/Hero Submissions will be opened in the near future (Villains/Heroes with musical references in their Villain/Hero names or the name of their Quirk would be fun).
Submissions must be sent to me (R Falt) in the discord linked below.

(Link is broken up due to fanfic, just remove the spaces when typing it)
Other benefits to joining the discord are updates I make on the progress of chapters and occasionally some ideas for the story/characters I may throw at the wall.
Chapter 4 should be released in June or July, but as I'm quickly finding out I'm not good with promises on deadlines, so take that release time with a grain of salt.
Anyways thank you for reading The Power Within, and have a good day/night.
