As Caesar stood over the edge, where Koba had fell, he sees that the females where approaching the city.
He, Blue Eyes, who was carrying Lily on his back, Maurice, Rocket, Luca climbed down the tower, along with the other apes who previously followed Koba.
As they made it to the bottom, Caesar saw Cornelia, who was cradling Cornelius in her arms, run towards him, embracing him. He returned her embrace hugging her back, placing his forehead against hers.
Suddenly, he hears angry shouts and hoots and Caesar turned to see some of Koba's apes, surrounding Malcolm.
"Leave him!" He told them.
The apes broke away, while of them was a chimpanzee, Tola, glared at Malcolm, but followed Caesar's orders. The human approached the group.
Malcolm noticed that Lily was supporting her self against Blue Eyes and he looked down to see that her leg was set in a splint, as he noticed it was broken.
"Are you alright?" He asked , concerned "What the hell happened?!"
"Explosion from the tower," Lily signs "Fell off. I'm glad to see that you're okay."
Then she noticed that Malcolm was holding something in his hand "What's that?" She asked.
"Do you mind explaining this?" Malcolm questioned holding up a poster of Lily.
"That's not me!" Lily quickly answered.
"That's not you?" Malcolm raised an eyebrow, staring at her.
"Nope," Lily said.
Malcolm furrowed his brow into a frown. She was lying to him.
"Do you you want to try that again?" He asked. "Lily, I already know. Dreyfus told me everything. He said some soldiers told him that you are the cure to the flu."
Lily's eyes widen in shock and horror.
" What I don't know is, why?" Malcolm asked.
"It's in my blood," Lily signs.
"Blood?" Caesar asked, while he , Maurice, and Blue Eyes and, Rocket, looked at her confused.
"Well, why didn't you turn yourself in? You can help cure the flu!" Malcolm exclaimed, happily.
Lily shook her head. "It's not like simple," She stated.
"What do you mean?" Maurice signed. "It's not like it's going to kill you or something."
Lily didn't answer. Her silence told him everything.
"Right?" Malcolm asked, hesitantly.
Lily turned to him and shook her head. She signed.
"My father told me that the virus had mutated in me. When the outbreak happened, he made a cure, but tested it on me, instead of on himself. It was the only one. He wanted to save me. He sacrificed everything he could to do so. The cure, he injected me with, prevents the virus from progressing. If it is taken out of me, I would bleed to death."
It was nighttime, there were many houses in the neighborhood on the street, some abandoned while some were boarded up, as well as the windows. At the end of the street, one stood out. It was a animal clinic. Inside, a TV was on, as it's reflection glared through the window. On the it, was a newscaster.
"We have numerous reports of people who been infected which have been dubbed The Simian Flu. Symptoms include sneezing, coughing, high fever, bleeding from the nose. More information will be updated soon. There have been several cases where the patients have gone crazy, feral. But that's only one case at the moment. If anyone has been in contact with the infected or showing signs, seek medical help immediately."
The TV flicks to a random channel, as a little girl around eight years old, clicked the remote, turning it off.
Lily turned her head to see a man, dressed in a white lab coat, gathering up papers, files, and burning them in a trash can. She sits up and runs over to him. She tugs on his sleeve trying to get his attention.
"Daddy, I'm tired can we go to bed?" Lily signs.
"I'm almost done, sweetie," Armando answered.
Lily notices something drip from his nose as it fell onto the stack of papers, as they burned.
"Daddy, your nose is bleeding." Lily signed, worried.
"Don't worry, sweetheart," Armando replied "I'm fine."
Lily could tell from his voice that he was lying.
Then there was a loud knock at the door.
"Who is it?" Lily asked softly, looking towards the front door.
Armando cupped her cheeks, gently, making her look at him, ignoring the loud knocks.
He spoke. "Just a visitor. Listen to me, Lily. There's not much time. I need you to be brave for me. Be strong," He takes off his necklace and placed around Lily s neck. "Take this. And most importantly, don't ever change. No matter what happens..."
"Do not tell anyone about this. Do you understand?" He finishes.
"I don't understand. Why can't I?" Lily asked, confused.
"You will die." Armando answered. Lily went silent.
The banging on the door grew louder.
"Dr. Armando!" A voice called out, a man's. "Open the door!"
" Daddy, I'm scared," Lily said.
"Promise me, please." Armando pleads.
"I promise." Lily said.
Armando smiles. "Good, now go through the back door and don't look back. Keep running. Get as far away as you can, away from here. I love you."
He ushers her towards the back door, opening it. He pushes Lily out and slides the door locking it and pulled down the shades. Lily turned around, banging on the glass.
"Daddy!" She screamed.
The door was kicked open. The loud sound as it slammed open made Lily jump and she stopped.
Lily peeked through the blinds to see a bald headed man, wearing dark shades, along with some soldiers enter into the room, dressed in army uniform.
"Daddy?" She whispered, scared.
The soldier approached Armando "You're not looking so good, doc," He said. "
Armando coughs, "Not that you care," He said, sarcastically.
"Dr. Armando, where is the cure?" The soldier asked. "Don't deny it. I know you've created one. My resources told me so."
"Not here," Armando laughs as he smirks at the man.
Lily sees the man pull out a pistol and aims it at Armando's head "Then you are of no further use to me,"
Lily jumped at the sound of the gun shot as it went off. She wanted to scream but she covered her hands over her mouth. Lily desperately wanted run over as she saw her father fall to the floor, dead. Tears began to fall from her eyes and run down her face has she saw the men leave the room, walking out the door.
Lily ran, not looking back.
"This is why he made me promise not to tell anyone," She finishes.
"Lily,...I'm-I'm sorry," Malcolm replied, shocked by the information.
Maurice hooted to get Lily's attention.
"You have to think, one good thing did came out of this," he signs " You."
"Maurice is right," Blue Eyes said in agreement. Lily smiles at the two of them and blushes.
Caesar noticed that Malcolm was silent. "Is there something wrong?" He asked.
Malcolm turns to Caesar. He speaks. "You're not safe here. They made contact. Other people coming, soldiers," He explained. "You have to leave now. Everyone."
Everyone was silent, trying to process what he had said.
"Caesar, if you don't go, it'll be all-out war, "
"War has already begun. Ape started war. And human,...human will not forgive," Caesar said. "You must go, before fighting begins. I'm sorry, my friend."
"I thought we had a chance," Malcolm said, sadly.
" I did, too, " Caesar replied.
Caesar embraced Malcolm touching his forehead against Malcolm's.
"Malcolm, I'm staying, too," Lily signed.
" What are you talking about?" Malcolm answered. "Absolutely not!"
Lily shakes her head.
" I'm not asking this time," She signs. "I'm tired of running away."
She turns to Blue Eyes and takes his hand then looks back at Malcolm .
"I...have to stay," She answered.
As much as Malcolm didn't want to, he had to do it. He had to let her go. She would be more happier with them.
He had to do it. It was for the best.
"I promise to come and see you once everything settles down," Malcolm said. "Once I find a safe place for Ellie and Alex."
Then, Lily felt arms being wrapped around her as she pulled closer to Malcolm, as he hugged her tightly. Lily felt tears begin to burn her eyes. She returned the embrace, hugging him back.
Malcolm returned to Caesar's old house, where Ellie and Alex were waiting.
They noticed that he was alone.
"Malcolm, where's Lily?" Ellie asked.
Apes bowed down before Caesar, along with Cornelia, who was beside him holding Cornelius, and Blue Eyes with Lily who was standing beside him.
"She's where she belongs."
