Chapter Twenty-Nine

Caramel eyes slid shut tightly as he cursed. He breathed in and out as memories of his tutor, slash torturer, adviser, parent and family, came rushing inside his mind.

Once upon a time, Tsuna realized that it wasn't Hayato who was his first friend. It was Reborn. Even Aria, Byakuran and Yuni said so themselves after 'surfing' the universe. They have gone through a lot, struggled on some ways and were the pillars of each other. His guardians have pointed out that he trusted Reborn more than he trusts them. Like if they have the hundred percent, the hitman will have hundred and one percent. It cannot be helped that Reborn knows him and can read him like an open book, unlike others.

So seeing Reborn's quirk world version in the same room as him, looking ragged and untidy but still the same, makes him want to cry. It has been eleven years since he heard that snappy tone, or saw the stupid sideburns.

Taking a deep breath, Tsuna proceeded to turn around, lay on the floor and curl like a ball. He'll think over all of this the next morning. Not like Shigaraki Tomura will talk to him now. If anything happens to Katsuki, his intuition will alert him. He just hopes Shouta will be alright, knowing he's gone.

Tsuna doesn't know how many hours was he asleep. The moment his intuition alerted him that he has a company, other than Reborn, he sprung up and alert. He stared at turquoise eyes watching him by the door. His intuition didn't say anything else, as if the guy won't hurt him. Caramel eyes turned to Reborn who is equally alert, eyeing him and their 'warden'.

The guy has this longish black hair that spikes upward and hangs low over his eyes. He has piercings on the ears and the nose. His built is pretty lanky too, as if a little malnourished on some sides. What troubles Tsuna is the gnarled, wrinkly skin on their watcher that covers the lower part of his face until to the neck and collarbone. There's also under the eyes that should've been the eyebags, then the arms too. They're all attached to the unmarred skin with surgical staples and rings. Tsuna wonders if it's the same with the legs too.

He's dressed casually, a little dirty and singed on some sides. What Tsuna can't comprehend are the turquoise eyes. It's the same with Shouto's, a little hardened since he's villain though, someone who knows the horror of the world and suffered pain.

Tsuna turned to Reborn. "Did he touch you?"

"No." The hitman answered, glancing to him. "Not in anyway possible."

"Then I should relax, right?" He queried as he slumped by the wall and stared at his burned hands. "Damn. Katsuki will kill me if he sees these again."

"You're with that loud kid?" Reborn inquired. "He has been calling out 'Tsuna' from the other room."

Tsuna winced as his hands glowed yellow to repair his hands. He turned to see their watcher. "You told him I'm sleeping, right?"

A shake of head.

He pouted as he brought his hands down. "You should probably tell him. Not like I'm gonna runaway anytime soon. The quicker you tell him, the more it is for him to get quiet."

"Alright." Their watcher nodded before going out and closing the door behind him.

"You're rather calm about your current situation." Reborn remarked.

"It's night." Tsuna simply answered. "If I move now, it won't be pretty. I don't want to endanger my classmate. I rather have zero casualty than have a lot of dead bodies in front of me."

"Spoken like a hero."

"Vigilante code: Do not engage an enemy unless necessary." He eyed the other. "For someone who looks dangerous, it doesn't sit well for me to see you shackled from hands to elbows."

The other smirked. "It can't be helped that I can escape their clutches in just a few minutes."

The brunet chuckled. "I know. I don't even have to use my quirk for them."

Silence.

"You called me 'Reborn' earlier." The hitman voiced. "How did you know me?"

Tsuna felt his mouth went dry a little before he tousled his hair. "I know a lot of things. Vigilante and all."

"The flames you used earlier to heal your wounds, where did you learn them?"

"Why?"

"They shouldn't be existing till now." Caramel eyes boggled. "They have been ancient since five generations ago."

"What happened to Italian mafia?" He can't help asking. "Is it even alive?"

"Yes."

"Vongola? Gesso? Giglio Nero? Chiavallone? Are those famiglie still alive?"

Onyx eyes stared at him. "Vongola, Giglio Nero and Chiavallone are alive. I don't know about that Gesso."

Tsuna 'tsk'-ed. "Millefiore?"

"Millefiore, yes."

He sighed in relief. "What's the current generation of Vongola? Tenth?"

"Yes."

"Xanxus de Vongola? Do you know him?"

The hitman grew curious. "Yes. The leader of Vongola Varia assassination squad."

"Who's leading Vongola now? Are all I mentioned in alliance?"

"Enrico de Vongola. And no. They're not."

Right eye twitched. "Slowpoke. If Byakuran suddenly got bored, he'll definitely bomb Vongola again." Then he blinked as his intuition rolled his eyes. "Right. No way he'll get bored with me around. He's probably laughing his ass out with all the things I'm doing right now."

"Are you a mafioso? Is that the reason why you know me?"

Tsuna weighed his options. "You can say that I was, once upon a time, before I changed everything for the better." He looked over to the door when it opened and their watcher came in. "How did it go?"

"We knocked him out when he started to get difficult." The other said while closing the door and sitting on the floor. "I take it you've made an acquaintance?"

Black and caramel glanced at each other before they shrugged. They can say they are acquaintance in a way.

The brunet turned to their watcher. "If not rude to ask, aren't those burn painful?"

"Why? Finding them cringy?" The other rebutted.

He snorted. "I've seen worse, obliterated a few. Not that it will make you feel better."

"Oho. So why are you asking? Hero tendencies?"

"Can't I be a good samaritan for once?"

"Hm. I almost got your father awhile ago." The villain smirked. "He almost died."

"Of so I heard." He hummed. "Dad is strong enough to hold on for his own. Since he told me the one who attacked him got away, I take it that was you? Good job evading him. Dad can be pretty nasty in battles."

"You're praising him too much."

"It's in the upbringing." He shrugged before inspecting the skin. "Ah. We have the same disintegration ability."

"I have cremation." The villain corrected.

"Same difference." He shrugged, causing Reborn to chuckle. He smiled. "Yey! I made someone laugh!"

"You're a sky." The hitman pointed out. "A rare one in fact."

Tsuna smiled widely as he crossed his legs and bowed his head to the man's direction. "Encompassing Sky: Vongola Decimo, at your service."

"Oh." Mischief flashed in those onyx eyes. "You'll get in trouble with that."

He rolled his eyes. "They could try. I'll kick them to the oblivion."

"What the heck are you two talking about?" Their watcher questioned, baffled at the shift of topic.

"Mafia." The two said in unison before snickering.

"Excuse me- Fuck omerta." Tsuna snorted, making Reborn laugh more.

"You're mafia?" The other questioned.

"Depends." The brunet answered. "I just know a lot."

"I'm a hitman." The other supplied.

Silence.

"I can't help thinking about your injury." Tsuna stated while blinking his eyes to the other. "Come here."

"You're sixteen and you're already a pervert." The villain jabbed while edging away, making Reborn gasp in a mocking way.

The brunet spluttered. "Dude! If there is someone who'll be convicted, it's you! If I thought it right, I'm younger than you in years!"

"Still doesn't settle me."

Tsuna wrinkled his nose. He crossed his arms and looked away. "Fine. I won't help."

"Can you really help then?" Caramel eyes glanced at the villain.

"I can remember the studies I did on the skin." He sighed. "And I just want to help. I think your pain is too much."

"Fine."

Tsuna blinked when the villain stood up and walked towards him. He craned his neck to stare at those turquoise eyes before the owner sat in front of him. He didn't mind the other eyes that are watching them. Caramel ones focused on the wrinkled red skin. He looked up to the eyes for permission as he uncrossed his arms. There was a nod of approval.

Caramel eyes turned orange, shocking the two, as Tsuna's intuition worked on how to help the young man in front of him. He caressed the skin with gentle fingers. Starting from the burned skin under the eyes, then he caressed the cheeks, earning those eyes to close, before he moved to those red ears. The villain doesn't have lobes. Then Tsuna caressed the soft jaws then the neck, which made the other tense, but he continued either way.

"It will get a little itchy, so bear with me a little, okay?"

A nod, shoulders relaxing.

Tsuna let his hands glow yellow. With precise ease, he let his hands glitter from the collarbone. Cells started to react and form layers of tissues. He started to hum a song as he worked, watching the skin builds up and surely cover the collarbone. Good thing he had a lot of practice that morning.

"For a sky, you're proficient with sun." Reborn said from the back.

"I had a lot of practice." He replied. "The first time I used it, I have to harmonize the sun. Then my Dad made me train without using my sky as a guide. Did you know that I listed five negatives and three positives of sun flames? One negative blew right on my face. I had to step back when it did. It took me by surprise."

"You're quite knowledgeable about these flames."

"I have some experiences." He quirked a smile. "It's good that Dying Will isn't known in the mafia anymore."

"I saw you on the video." The villain he's healing said, one eye opened. "Is this the quirk you used to heal Stain?"

"Ah. Yes. It was a grueling process, you know? I was so panicked that I have to act quickly. Are you a fan of him? Of Stain? Chizome will have a blast once I tell him about his admirers. His ideology is quite fascinating, if I don't disapprove." He moved his hands a little higher. "Sorry if you feel like I'm about to wring your neck."

"You're fellow vigilantes?" The other asked instead, not minding the position of the hands around his neck.

Tsuna felt black eyes look at him as he nodded. "Yup. We kinda had a few talks from when I started to do my works. Since he's in Tartarus now and he only permits me to visit, I come to him every once in awhile to give company."

"And yet, you're training as a hero."

He can't help his snicker. "At least one got it right. I helped a lot of people and they've been prying since not one had captured me for..." He frowned. "How many years was it again?"

"Four years?"

"That. So it's either I become a hero student or face the court with vigilante charges and public display of individuality. And I don't want my Dad to do the paperworks because they're boring and pain in the ass, so I chose the former." He moved his hands to the jaws. "But I never really abandoned being a vigilante. If I could help a lot of people without anyone trying to uncover my identity or giving me credits, why not?"

"I don't think your morals are straight." The villain chirped.

"It's curved. I know." He snorted as he moved for the skin under the eyes. He stared at his work and blinked. "Woah. Now that I see it, you're a pretty boy."

Reborn tittered.

"No. I mean it." He stated as he pulled his hands back. He blinked and admired the villain. "I mean I shouldn't be saying this, but your face is a heartbreaker. Well, minus the staples. But it's fine. It goes with badboy type."

Their watcher chuckled. "Should I get scared now that you're admiring me?"

"If you smile like that, you should." He answered as he took the right arm and started to heal it. "Sorry if I pulled you in this. I just can't sit still when I know I can help. If it starts to pull again, or disintegrate, sought me out. I think I'll know if you want to see me."

"Even if helping a villain?"

"I helped Stain-san, what's the difference now? What I know is I don't want to discriminate. I don't want to confirm with the norms where everyone is treating each other differently. My attitude towards you will only change if you attack me. Which you haven't, so it's cool." He moved to the other arm. "That's just plain stupid."

"That will put you into trouble."

He shrugged. "Do I look like I care? Anyway, can you let out your quirk for me?"

"Sure."

Tsuna instinctively put a wall of sky flames in front of him as ash suddenly appeared on the villain's free hand. The other didn't attack him though. So he proceeded. He simply reinforced his left hand with sky flames before touching the quirk. Turquoise eyes looked at him in surprise as he went back to healing. After that, he pulled back and leaned to the wall behind him. He admired his work and smiled at how amazing it is.

"I love it when I can help like this." He voiced as his eyes shut close. "I mean less pain right?"

"Hey hey-"

Then blank.

"Where's our watcher?" He asked, blinking at the masked guy in front of him.

"You mean Dabi?" The villain questioned back. Tsuna can't help his head from tilting to the side. "The one you healed? He's out. He went somewhere with his new face."

"Oh. That's his name? Dabi? That's cute." He hummed before staring at the tray of food place beside him. "Thanks for the food. Reborn? Do you want to eat?"

"Why? Want to feed me?" The hitman questioned.

He turned to the villain. "You don't feed him?"

"He usually escapes when we remove the cuffs." The villain sheepishly reasoned.

Tsuna shrugged his shoulders before taking his tray and crawling for the hitman. "Can you get us another set of utensils, uh..."

"Twice. My name is Twice." The other cheerfully introduced.

Caramel eyes blinked before he chuckled. "Okay. Twice-san. Can you get us another set of utensils? Black Mist-san won't mind, will he?"

"I'll try!" The other nodded before going out and closing the door behind him.

"You've been awake for five hours, and now you're running havoc again." Reborn pointed out.

"It's not my fault I'm too friendly." He grumbled as he took the provided spoon and started to assemble things. "It's just that the Villain Alliance reminds me of my own misfits back then. Super jaded, crazy and just lost. But I'm not gonna say I'm pure and all. Ah."

The hitman opened his mouth and accepted the food.

"Like how they said it, those who could relate are crazy as the others." He hummed. "And I didn't do the sky attraction. I keep a tight lid on that."

"You haven't harmonize? You'll kill yourself."

He frowned as he started to assemble the food again. "I thought Dying Will flames are gone? How come you know a lot?"

"They're not gone. They aren't used anymore since quirks started to appear. And I've lived long enough to know."

The spoon stopped mid-air as caramel eyes widened. "You're an Arcobaleno?"

"I was." Then the hitman leaned forward to take the food in his mouth.

"Baby and the pacifier?" Tsuna gaped. "What the heck happened? How come you're... In your original form?"

"You're one to talk. You're an information broker, are you?"

Both didn't mind Twice coming in.

"I asked you if Mafia was alive. And who am I gonna inform? Myself? What happened? Twice-san? Have you eaten? You can eat my share if you haven't. I'm not that hungry."

"Uhm..." Twice hesitated.

Tsuna blinked and looked at the other as he put the spoon in front of Reborn's lips. "Is it the mask? You can just roll it until to your mouth and half of your nose. I won't judge you."

The other went silent before nodding. "O-Oh. Okay."

Then he turned to Reborn as he started to assemble the food again. "So?"

"It was eleven years ago when our pacifiers glowed orange. Then we turned to our original forms in an instant." Onyx eyes narrowed. "Why am I even telling you this?"

"Because I asked. Ah." He countered as he gently put the spoon inside the hitman. Damn. He'll dwell on the information he received later.

"Is it really okay that I'm eating your share?" Twice queried as he ate.

"It's fine. I'm not that hungry." He assured. "I didn't do my regular runs, and I ate a lot yesterday to minimize the effects of your attack in the camp. Although you have to be grateful I'm too panicked to blow off the smoke you put in the forest." He disclosed as he fed Reborn more. "I bet some of us are in critical condition, considering how poisonous that was."

"What?! You knew?!" The villain questioned in shock.

"Since the night you came." His eyes flitted to the door that opened a little. "I know you were by the cliff that night. I also know you were going to attack yesterday. The only reason I didn't confront you is because I'm thinking the safety of my classmates and teachers. Engaging the enemy with people to protect behind you will put everything to risk. It's just pros and cons."

"Oh."

"There." He remarked as he put the utensils he used on the side. "Had your fill, Reborn?"

"I did." The hitman answered.

Tsuna took the water and inspected it before he lifted it to the man's lips. "Here. You need to drink."

The hitman took opened his mouth and let his lips latch on the side of the glass. The brunet slowly let the glass tip. When his intuition warned him that Reborn had enough, he pulled the glass away.

"Thank you, Twice-san." He beamed.

"Compliments to the chef." Reborn nodded.

Twice went out of the room in daze.

Tsuna laid on his back as he contemplated of the things he gathered from last night till the morning came. It is the right time since Reborn is asleep while they have no watcher at the moment.

As if like a starfish on the ground, he stared at the ceiling. Mafia is still alive, like Yuuga has said. Vongola is at their tenth generation, and being led by Enrico. They haven't made any alliance with the famiglie Tsuna trusted. Tsuna doesn't think they even found Simon, or probably some clean up on the families they are in contact. It won't be long before they get betrayed.

Tsuna groaned softly as he rolled to his side and huffed. Why does he even care? It's not like he'll be associated with them again. Reborn does not count since he's a hitman. A contracted killer. Wait? Did he train Enrico? Impossible. If Reborn trained the current mafia boss, he shouldn't be confined in the same room as him. He should be beside Enrico, advising him what to do. At least Xanxus is alright. He must have known that he's adopted or something that's why he's not frozen.

What worries Tsuna more is the fact that he might be, or not, the reason why the Arcobaleno were freed. It's not that he's not happy. To see his best friend's counterpart free of the blasted curse is good enough reason for him to be grateful again of being there. But won't his arrival alert the current holders of the tri-ni-sette artifacts? Like what if Kawahira suddenly attacks him? And what happened to the curse? How did it vanish eleven years ago?

In general, how did he come to this world again?

Tsuna's caramel eyes slid to see the door open and 'Dabi' came in. The other looks like he just woke up with how messy his hair. The brunet didn't move as the villain went for him and sat beside him.

"What's new?" He whispered.

"Had a blast." The other answered, drowsy turquoise eyes staring at him. "I like it here. It's warm."

"It's probably my flames." He shrugged as he relaxes further. "You should be sleeping. You look tired."

"I was. But I got cold. So I sought you out."

"Then you're welcome to sleep." He responded as he stared at the ceiling again.

"What are you thinking?" Dabi asked as he laid down beside the brunet.

"Existence. I'm trying to be a philosopher and a scientist at the moment." He sighed.

"You're so lucky I don't hate you."

Caramel eyes looked beside him to see the other laid on his back, eyes closed. "Why?"

"I don't know. I want to hate you, but I can't bring myself to. I'm not even used to talking without being rude or cynical. You're an aspiring hero. But I just can't hate you."

"Then it's fine." He looked back to the ceiling. "It takes time."

The other chuckled. "This is the reason why I like it here. You can make me laugh."

The brunet can't help quirking a smile as he closed his eyes. "I like your eyes."

"Really?"

"They're unique."

"They're eyes of a murderer."

"I gathered." Tsuna opened an eye to see the young man who is looking at him too. "Go to sleep."

"You too."

"Hm."

As the two slowly went to sleep, onyx eyes opened and watched them. Especially the brunet who is an enigma to all of them.
