A/N:
@Natsu Lucy: Let's just really hope Tsuna will be able to change that future. The operation will on the next chapter. It won't be detailed, but let's see.
@Lily3nna: Not generally on discord. He's resonated with the Tri-ni-sette, but he'll probably feel it when time comes... The consequences of not having a bond.
@Fragments of Imagination: Hahaha! Good luck with your job! Just think of these updates as a gift for jobs well done on your side.
@rama-miss: Nope. Not yet. We have to reach chapter 70 for this to be on hiatus. So rest assured, you won't see the end of this fic yet. Tsuna's situation will probably be explained by Kawahira... of BNHA world or KHR world. HAHAHA! Who knows! And thank you!
@catherineeeee: How do you make angst arc again? Hahaha! I don't even know if I can do one. Anyway, yup! Natsu is here and he can help Tsuna in so many ways in the coming days. Yie!
@Lunary: Have I ever told you how much of an angel you are? No! Now you know. We'll see Xanxus soon, and Enrico will probably realize it, by purpose or mistake. Who knows. Reborn isn't affiliated to Vongola in any ways. Nono is not the boss anymore, so he's not bound to 'serve' them. Vindice? Knocking on Aizawa's door? Oh my God. HAHAHAHA!! No! Tsuna will get mad if his dad gets a heart attack! Still thinking things through about Reborn. We'll never know what those two will do.
Hello, Everyone. Thank you for the reviews! They pumped me up! Here are the updates of the week. Not yet proofread thoroughly, so I hope you tolerate the grammar errors and typos...? Well, hopefully. HAHAHAHA!
Anyway, go on.
Chapter Forty-Three
Tsuna looked left then right before crossing the street for the building across when he's sure no cars are going to crush him. Natsu 'gao'-ed by his shoulder that he smiled at. The cat is as excited as he is.
These past days were a little busy for them. The only ones Tsuna can talk to are Reborn and Natsu. Shouta has been busy with grading and all the school stuffs he doesn't want to tackle nor think about. He couldn't come unannounced, except dinner time, cause he doesn't want to disturb his Dad. Hizashi did ask how was he, after seeing how minimal their contact. He said he understands, but he knew to himself that he wants to spend time with his Dad and Uncle like old times. Which explains why he and Natsu are so excited because the hero called him to make a breakfast.
Opening the door, he got attacked with the cool air from the inside of the building. He looked around to see any reception, only to notice his schoolmates by the right of the said desk. They look... Gloomy. His intuition tinkered.
"Yo." He called out as he approaches them. All of them perked up and turned to him. "Is this about that Chisaki guy and Eri-chan?" He shoot off as he stopped by the girls' side.
"Tsuna!" His schoolmates exclaimed, brightening up a little.
He eyed their upperclassmen and gave a nod. "Good morning, Sempais."
"Good Morning, Sawada-kun." Hadou greeted softly.
"Is it?" He asked to Izuku who looked down and frustrated.
The greenet nodded. "Yeah. I wish I should've taken her. She was right in my arms. And..." He sighed.
"Hmm." Tsuna hummed. "Can you brief me of what happened?"
"Ha?" The upperclassmen blurted, confused and unsettled with his request.
"It's alright." Kirishima assured. "Tsuna can be of help. He's a vigilante."
"It's not a job." He waved off. "You have a choice not to tell me if it's a secret."
"No." Izuku stated, determined. "I want to tell you. I know, if we tell you, we'll know what to do."
He smiled at the trust. "Well then, please humor me."
They told him what they knew.
It all started from a band of thieves that were caught. Although there was a little scuffle with a hero, they were caught by the police while on the run completely unscathed, except for the money that was gone. That's where this Chisaki-guy comes in. The man is a boss of a yakuza organization called Eight Precepts of Death, and had started to contact other criminal organizations outside their jurisdiction and even overseas for financial support on something. This included the Villain Alliance. His quirk is called overhaul, which enables the possessor to break and restore objects, and known to be sneaky.
What made Tsuna go freaking frigid was when they started to talk about Eri, Chisaki's daughter. According to Kirishima, during a villain pursuit, he and Amajiki were shot by these special bullets that contain human blood cells. Apparently, it can erase quirks. Amajiki was shot by it, but he was able to recover overtime. They have deduced that Chisaki is using his own daughter to make those bullets. What was more sick of it, was the fact that it was obviously an experiment turned weapon. It's what made Togata and Izuku really frustrated because they attempted to rescue the girl, but Eri was the one who came to his father-
"Wait." He stated and looked at Togata and Izuku in the eyes. "She went after him willingly after he turned around, started to walk away and let out his killing intent?"
"Yes." Togata confirmed.
"When Eri bumped into you, she looked frightened and asking for help, hiding her face from her father's way?" He asked again.
"Yes." Izuku answered this time.
He frowned. "If you have Chisaki-san's quirk, how would you activate it?"
Silence.
"Maybe by touching?" Uraraka suggested. "It's the only way to disassemble things and restore them."
He nodded then turned to the two again. "Did he do something while walking away? Twitched a hand? Inclined his head? A simple shrug or something?" He questioned more as they heard the elevator 'ping'-ed.
Izuku's brows furrowed in thoughts. "He was wearing gloves until mid arm. When he was walking away,"
"He touched his left arm as if he's taking off the glove there, after that, Eri-chan ran after him." Togata continued.
He bit his lower lip as everything clicked, before sighing. "You two are blessed." The two stared at him. "Organizations in the underground world are known to fight till death. If Eri-chan didn't go, you two would have been killed already. She knew how dangerous her father is. She knew what will happen once that glove get removed. She wasn't scared for herself, she was scared for the two of you. Chisaki won't kill his daughter because she has use, while you two don't. In a way, she saved you two from a certain death she could've instigated."
The two looked down to the table, guilty and frustrated.
"But," He contrasted, gaining their attentions again. "if she didn't do that, you two won't be able to be here to rescue her once she's found. You wanted her to be safe, right? Then steel your wills, you'll be able to save her once she's found. You two are the ones they're counting on to keep her safe from her father once you attack." He stared at those eyes. "Got it?"
The two nodded. They looked determined enough that it made Tsuna approve.
"Giving your motivational speech, Tsuna?" A voice said from behind him.
He turned around and smiled to his Dad who's looking at him with amazement and fondness. "Just being a voice of reason, Dad."
"Sensei!" Asui and Uraraka acknowledged.
"Ah. Just call me Eraserhead outside of classroom." Shouta requested before giving him a light noogie on the head. "Especially you, Tsuna."
"What?" He defended, Natsu seconded with a 'gao'. "I'm not here as a student or a hero, I'm here as your son and their friend." He raised the small wrapped bento box. "Here. Your brunch."
His dad took the box and smiled a little. "Thank you, Tsuna. You're a life saver."
"Before you praise me more, direct me where Sir Nighteye is." He stated, earning a curious look from the man. "They told me what's happening."
"Tsuna," His Dad exasperated.
"Dad." He said in the same tone. "I can't just stand around while someone younger than Mukuro, Ken and Chikusa is out there." His face twisted to resentment as he remembered how Mukuro looked that time. "Experiment on humans is the most disgusting thing a scientist can do. Even a fucking family can do. We can't just wait for Eri-chan to have her own mind, make her own decisions and then suddenly snap and kill everyone within the perimeter of her quirk."
Silence. All of his schoolmates stared at him in shock as Shouta inspected him.
"It's either you say yes, or you won't be surprised when you see me there." He stated.
"No other option?" His Dad clarified.
He shook his head. "No other option."
"Second floor, meeting room." His Dad relented.
He grinned, reached out and kissed his Dad's forehead before running for the emergency exit. "Thank you, Dad! You're so awesome!" He called out.
He opened the door and started to run for the stairs that goes for the second floor. When he reached the emergency door there, he took a deep breath to calm himself and thought of how can he convince the man to let him be a support for their operation. All he knew about Nighteye is he has this foresight quirk, he's pretty strict but he likes enthusiasm. And he has a connection with All Might. Of what, he doesn't remember nor recall if Izuku has mentioned a label.
He opened the door after relaxing and letting Natsu go back to the ring. He looked ahead and trusted his intuition to guide him where the meeting room his Dad mentioned him to go. He was by the lobby, somewhat overseeing the first floor where the others were when he saw Gran Torino with a man in gray suit, shiny styled into prim look hair and glasses. He perked up and offered a beam to the old man when he turned to him, as if sensing him.
"Sawada." The old timer acknowledged, quirking a small smile. "You look well."
"You look recovered as well, Gran Torino-san." He replied as he inspected the old man. "Stay careful. How about Best Jeanist-san? Had he recovered?"
"With how much you have helped him? He is. He's still in the hospital though. But he'll be fine. What brought you here though?"
"My Dad. He called me to deliver him a brunch since you summoned him here early in the morning." He looked down to where his Dad is trying to further motivate Izuku and the others.
"Ah, Nighteye," Caramel eyes snapped to Grand Torino then to the prim guy. The old man gestured to him. "I should've recommended this lad to attend too. He's a good support."
"Nice to meet you..." He tilted his head to the right in mock innocent question.
"This is Nighteye, Sawada. A friend of All Might. Sidekick to be exact. They call him Sir Nighteye." Gran Torino introduced.
He blinked. "Oh. All Might-san's friend?" He, then, offered a smile. "A pleasure to make your acquaintances, Sir Nighteye. I'm Tsunayoshi Sawada, you can call me Tsuna casually. But I'm known as Vongola Decimo."
"Nighteye, he is the one who healed All Might's incurable injury." The old man furthered, making him blush.
"Gran Torino-san, don't go saying that." He softly chided. "There were doctors there too. And besides, it was a quirk residue that was eating All Might-san's system. I only was able to cure him because it made itself known. It was bad move for All for One."
"You know him?" Nighteye questioned. He sounded surprised.
"Oh. I've talked to him." He answered offhandedly. He suddenly recalled how horrified All for One was when he started talking, more of topped the man's 'ambitions'. The guards, who were listening to them, couldn't even look at his eyes when he went out. "He was all so twisted and such. He has quite an obsession about All Might." Then he gave a smile. "Let's just say we... Kinda have this agreement to never talk to each other again, unless utterly necessary."
"B-But I never saw you..." The man trailed off. He looks unsure with how furrowed his brows are.
Caramel eyes blinked when he remembered something Yuni told him years ago. "Well, it's given. Some of my family have that kind of ability. Sometimes they see me, sometimes they don't. What we know is, the future is never set. In my case, it's because I don't follow the rules. You can call me a glitch, an anomaly-"
"Or the game changer." The man provided, which he nodded at.
"Seeing you and All Might-san have never talked for awhile, I hope you do. We don't want to regret anything when it's too late now, do we?" Then he smiled. "If I may, Sir Nighteye."
"Yes?"
"Can I be part of your operation?" He questioned. He noticed how those eyes narrowed a little. "Just as a support. I have histories with operations like this."
"He can lessen the casualty." Gran Torino informed. "I told you, he cured All Might's incurable injury. He was there during the last scuffle too. The only time he can't respond is when it's not in his jurisdiction."
He sighed. "That's the thing. If only I have teleportation as a second quirk. I don't think my class would even notice I've gone to the other side of the world." He grinned. "Just imagine me giving you chocolates from France. Cool, right?"
He evaded the shin kick attack from the old man. "Your imagination sky ricocheted, Dumbass."
"What?" He defended. "It's a good second quirk. Anyway, I want to come." He stood straight and looked at Nighteye in the eyes. "I'll lower the casualty. Knowing that it's Yakuza, with quirk instead of sword and guns, it's far dangerous than you think." He remembers those so many scuffle with Japanese Yakuza and cringed. Triad is far worser though. "And I can't stand knowing a child out there is being experimented by her own father."
"If you were in Midoriya's situation that time, what would you do?" Nighteye questioned.
He gave a beam. "Chisaki won't even see me holding her. The moment I got her in my arms, I'll make a run for it. I'm very very sensitive to dangerous people and situations, you know. It's the reason why I'm still alive, right now." Then he let his smile fall as he think of the consequences. "But, the operation won't be the same. We'll be defending, they'll attack. Even if we hide her in an isolated island, it won't take long for him to find it with how vast his network. It's not for competence, but the ability to defend. Let's say you chose the right people, but they don't know how to defend but only to offend. In a sense, it will be a massive hero massacre with Eri back in their grasp. You get me, don't you?"
"You have it right." Nighteye answered with a nod. "You have a good head between your shoulders."
"Practice gives experience." He waved off, then he grinned. "That's a yes then?"
The man's lips corner lifted a little. "Yes. We need all the help we can get on this operation."
His intuition knocked. "Oh, and if you're about to search for her, look somewhere obvious. According to a friend of mine who was experimented as a child a long time ago, laboratories aren't far from the main HQ. Sometimes they're under the ground." Then he gave a small respectful bow. "Thank you for taking me in. Please treat me well." He straightened up and waved as he started to back away. "See you."
He was going for the emergency exit when he received a text on his phone. He pulled it out and checked it. It was his Dad, telling him to hurry up and go for the canteen because he wants to spend some time with him. He can't help his smile from breaking out and rushed for the stairs. He almost tripped with how fast he was going down. When he opened the door, he looked around for the canteen. It didn't take long for him to see the sign and made a run for it.
When he entered the room, he noticed Shouta on one of the tables. He approached with a smile, that the other reciprocated. He didn't sit across the man, he sat beside Shouta and hugged the man side ways. Years ago, he will be embarrassed of doing this. Especially to his parents. But realizing how important they are? He can't pass the opportunity.
"I missed you, Dad." He murmured, hiding his face on the man's shoulder.
"I missed you too, Buddy." Shouta hummed while reciprocating the hug. "You got an approval?"
"Yup." He nodded as he closed his eyed and basked himself with his Dad's warmth. "Gran Torino helped me convince him."
"Okay."
"But you're part of the scouting group, right?" He tightened his hold. "Please be careful."
"I know. You too."
Tsuna didn't move from his position as Shouta started to eat the bento he prepared.
Tsuna looked up from his seat when he felt someone passing by. His hand shoot up and grasped Izuku's shirt. The greenet halted and turned to him as if he was snapped out of daze. Caramel eyes inspected the other before tugging him to sit beside him. Izuku complied.
They were told to be on standby since the pros are still searching for Eri. They were asked not to discuss anything about the meeting and such. Even saying Eri's name can't be said. They have to be really really secretive. But it doesn't mean it has no effects on the kids. For Tsuna, this is normal. He had done it a lot of times, even when he was a teen. Be secretive, have codenames for those people you wanted to talk about. But these kids doesn't have the luxury, and the way they cope is to train harder. No wonder it's taking a toll on them.
He suddenly remembered how Katsuki bugged him to talk. Of course he didn't. He did tease the other to say please with a smile. The blond couldn't do it, he didn't want to do it. So he smiled and said 'no'. He laughed at how disgruntled and indignant the other. He invited him to play Mario Cart instead, which he declined and tried to beat him in Tekken. Their other classmates were understanding and supportive though. They didn't question anything, but helped them train instead.
He turned to Izuku who looks thoughtful again. "Hey."
"Ah." The greenet blurted, blinking.
"You alright?" He questioned as he put Natsu on the other's lap. The cat flopped on Izuku's laps and 'gao'-ed.
"Yeah. Iida and Todoroki made me feel better a little." The greenet said with a smile while playing with Natsu.
"You still look thoughtful though." He gently probed.
Green eyes glazed a little. "I wanted to ask Sir Nighteye about All Might. But because of the... You know..."
"Ah." Tsuna nodded understandingly. "Maybe after the operation? I'll make sure you two will have all the time you could talk to each other."
"You will?" A shocked look.
"That's what I'm here, right?" He smiled. "I'm here to lower the casualties, Izuku. If I have to exhaust my flames to heal everyone, I will."
"It's just that, All Might and Sir Nighteye haven't been speaking to each other since five years ago. I've told you, right? Sir Nighteye saw the future. All Might was going to die. But because of you, he won't be anytime. So I thought, maybe they can patch up again? They're friends... They need to talk again."
Tsuna nodded as he eyed Natsu who's sleeping on Izuku. "I bet All Might wants to talk to him too, but doesn't know how to. Sometimes, when you have doubts on yourself on how to resolve something so simple, you shy away from it. It's probably much easier to solve a math equation than face the person you have conflict with." He suddenly remembered how red Takeshi was when they tried to solve their fight that one time. "If you try to resolve it, you'll go all red in embarrassment, blabbering things and then you'll dissolve to laughter of how awkward things and never said sorry but you know it's alright, or you suddenly start crying and say sorry for your faults."
"You've done that?" Izuku questioned, eyes wide.
He 'pft'-ed. "I have a friend who threw a wine glass on me as an apology."
"What?!"
"I also have a friend who offered me carcass as a peace offering." He hummed, cringing that one time he got disappointed with the Vindice. Reborn was laughing out loud when they offered the corpse of a Russian don. "There's also a best friend of mine who'll do a seppuku as a form of apology." He laughed at Izuku's astonished expression. "The apology I can never forget was receiving a bouquet of flowers."
"Ha?"
He chuckled. "Flowers have language, right? When the mouth can't speak, people use flowers as a way to express what they want to convey. Like, if I give you a red rose, you'll know I love you."
"Oh!" The greenet exclaimed before looking at him curiously. "Then what did you receive?"
He blinked as he pictured the bouquet of flowers in his hands. "Yellow rose, white tulips, lilies, ivy, white orchids, blue hyacinth and red rose. All telling me sorry, that he did the mistake, he misunderstood me and he loves me."
"He seems nice."
He smiled as he remembered his Reborn. "He is. You can say that he has the same level of importance with Dad. We had an argument back then. I was mad, he was mad. We destroyed a room while fighting. He beat me up actually, but I'm the one who stormed off and went away. It took a month for him to find my hiding place, then one day, the flowers got delivered. I went back the next day and greeted him like nothing happened."
"But why is it the best gift for you?"
"He..." Tsuna weakly formed his hands into fists. "He's not someone who apologizes that easy. He's very prideful, always right, never wrong. He's a Jack of all trades, you know. He knows things I don't, he can do things I couldn't, he has wisdom I don't have. He was the epitome of experience, life, and knowledge. You can say that he's my motivation other than Dad. His teachings are what makes me go forward. He makes me realize things. The only time he apologizes is when he knows he's the wrong one between our arguments. That bouquet of flowers was the very first apology he gave for the past ten years we've known each other. To even commemorate, I pressed those flowers. They were that important to me."
"You sounded..."
"In love?" He supplied with a smile. "Maybe. Maybe not. But what I know is, I idolize him the same way you do to All Might. I wanted to impress him, to make him think that I will never fail him. To think that he's not wrong for choosing me as his student and a friend. For remaining to be my family. I'm willing to sacrifice my life for him and Dad, just to keep both of them alive. That's how devoted I am for them."
"Wow." Izuku interjected with amazement. "You have great friends."
He chuckled. "I had great friends." He carefully took Natsu in his arms and cradled him carefully. "Let's go up, Izuku. You need sleep too."
Both of them stood up and went for the elevator.
"Ah." He blurted as they boarded the lift. "I think I need to talk to Katsuki."
"Eh? Kacchan? What for?"
"To say I forgive him." He answered as the door opened for floor two.
"Did he do something again?" The greenet worriedly questioned while stepping out.
"Nah. It's a promise thing between us." He assured. "He'll be ecstatic."
He laughed when the other went thoughtful. "I never saw Kacchan getting all exuberant."
"Hundred percent possibility, it includes explosions." He grinned.
Izuku snickered. "True. Good night, Tsuna."
"Night, Izuku." He bid back as the door closes.
Tsuna waited for the elevator to reach his floor. When it did, he went out in a relaxed pace to keep Natsu asleep. He was about to open his door when the room next to his opened. Red eye peered at him, more of glared. Katsuki let out his head, grumbled a 'good night' before closing the door. Tsuna blinked in surprise before he chuckled and opened the door.
Reborn is already inside, studying a paper while hijacking his swivel chair and turning it round and round in a slow manner while in his own kind of PJs. The brunet carefully closed the door behind him. He padded for the bed and slowly lowered Natsu there before falling for the futon where Leon is already resting in. He reached out for his phone. He unlocked it, went for the 'messaging' and replied Katsuki a 'good night', before doing the same thing to his Dad.
"Your Reborn doesn't differ from me." The hitman commented.
Tsuna paused from checking the news and peered at the other. "Fun fact, if there is Tsuna, there is Reborn."
"Oh?" Brows were raised at him.
"It's what Byakuran said." He shrugged then frowned at the memory. "Sometimes, they're not on the same side. Sometimes, you're the bad guy. Like my counterparts hates you? Sometimes, you follow Ninth to the end. Sometimes, we don't meet. Sometimes, your mission is to kill me." Then he let his hand drop to his chest as he stared at the ceiling. "You know, I feel so proud of myself for being able to tell him how grateful I am for his teachings and advices. He kicked me on my shin, by the way. But, I mean, my counterparts must be missing half of their lives of not meeting you, having you beside them, and trusting you. Because even if you're super unbearable, unreasonable and overprotective, no one loves like a Reborn."
"Damn. You just confessed to me."
He laughed as he peered at the other again. "Izuku must be right then. I'm in love with you."
Reborn grinned. "Aizawa will flip."
"Nah." He reached for his blanket. "You maybe my first and true love, but Dad is my unconditional love. You still lose."
"Still!" The Arcobaleno pointed out as he jumped on the brunet who groaned at the weight. "You said you love me, that I'm your first and true love, and you confessed to me. That's me as a whole."
"Renato Reborn Sinclair, you are heavy, you fatass." He said in straight Italian as he tried to breath. "If you want to sleep beside me, it's free. Just don't suffocate me."
He stared at the hitman who chuckled before moving away. He sighed in relief, pulled his blanket closer and closed his eyes as the lights go off. He heard Reborn shuffle then the bed moved a little. The man bid him good night that he answered in a small voice. He smiled a little when he felt a hand patting his head.
Heh. All Reborns have soft spots for all Tsunas. And that's a fact.
