A/N:

I'm just gonna drop this here. I'll be back by Wed, I think? My ff library went blank so suddenly last night and it's so devastating cause I was re-reading them. So I have to re-download them and... argh!!!

Disclaimer: O sole mio is not mine, nor Jirou's song. Hahaha.

"Hi." - speaking on mic

"Hi." - speaking Italian while on the phone; if between Italic texts, it means the other side spoke Italian.

I hope you don't get confused.

Anyway, go on. Hahaha!

Chapter Forty-Nine

Shouta balled his hands inside his pockets in anticipation. He feels nervous since this is his first time seeing Tsuna perform in a school event. Heck, Hizashi is grinning at him, preening because his best friend had been in three and many events of Tsuna performing, without the latter knowing. Of course, with disguise. And Hizashi is also glad that he's here though, saying it will make Tsuna really happy.

He had tried a lot of times extracting info of what his son is going to do in their performance, but Tsuna won't budge, just smiling teasingly, albeit shyly. He tried asking the other students, even Hitoshi because he knew his son will confide to the teen, but nothing still. They'll just tell him that Tsuna will perform great. Oh, don't ask him about Reborn. The hitman only smirked at him and made him really jealous that Tsuna trusted him enough to tell him what he's going to do without getting shy.

Goddamn privileges.

Speaking of hitman, that man gave him a watch as a gift, that Tsuna identified as Glashütte Original Vintage Sixties. It costs a little lower than his son's watch, however Tsuna explained that Reborn bought it, not to spite him that he doesn't have the money, but because the hitman knows Shouta has more to give to Tsuna and he can buy his own expensive watch. It's just that Reborn respects him for understanding his son and the man's own kind of idiosyncrasies, that he gave him that much. Shouta understood. Besides, he knows why Reborn gifted Tsuna that expensive watch.

The brunet always looks good in his hero costume. Especially with the added vest, that Shouta saw when he swooped down in front of him and took down Kurono. He looked so much professional and more handsome. Add on the watch, he'll look like a model who came out of the magazine. Damn. He's fanboying on his son's looks. He's getting old.

"Tsuna was nervous, you know." He glanced at his side, in which Reborn is standing. "He was ready to pass out. If I didn't tell him that you're going to be here, he'll back down."

"He sounded okay awhile ago." He stated as the curtains rose and silhouette of his students were seen.

"Because you called." The hitman answered before nudging him. "Watch how great your son is."

Just then, they heard a loud explosion that he knew Bakugou did with his drums before more instruments were added as the lights opened on the stage. He can see Kirishima, Todoroki, Kouda and Sero by the railings upstairs, probably the 'staging' group as Tsuna dabbed. The dancers, led by Mina, are wearing flashy yellow costumes, and they are standing in front of the band. Then his eyes roamed on the band. Yaoyorozu is on keyboard, Tokoyami and Kaminari are on the guitar, of course Bakugou is on the drums. Jirou is holding a guitar too, and standing before the mic with...

His eyes widened as his gaze zeroed on Tsuna who is wearing a fedora, standing in front of a mic, and mimicking the moves of the dancers. He was smiling widely and his eyes were a mix of caramel and orange under the blinding light. Shit. He doesn't look that nervous at all! It looks like he's enjoying everything, being the only one who doesn't have an instrument in the band.

His son looks so lively and just plain... Amazing.

"I know." He heard Hizashi said beside him, as if knowing what he thinks. "He always looked amazing on stage."

"Thanks for coming out today!" Jirou greeted over the mic as the music took a turn.

"What am I to be?" His eyes widened as Tsuna sang with a cheery smile on his face and scanning the crowd with his eyes. "What is my calling?" Orange-caramel eyes caught them and the smile grew wider. "I gave up giving up,"

"I'm ready to go!" Both Jirou and Tsuna chorused.

"The futures left unseen." Jirou continued, glancing at the brunet who was mimicking the dance and laughing, causing the girl to smile larger. "It all depends on me. Putting on the line,"

Then both vocalists raising their fingers to point out, and sang, "To follow my dreams, yeah!"

"Tried all my life!" Tsuna said, a hand on the mic.

"I tried to find," Jirou replied.

"Something that makes me hold on and never let go! Oh!" The two said at the same time. "Hero too! I am a hero too! My heart is set!"

"My heart is set!" Tsuna seconded.

"And I won't back down!" Jirou continued.

"Hero too! Strength doesn't make a hero! True heroes stand up for what they believe!"

"So wait and see." Tsuna nodded to the lady, as if they're agreeing on something.

Jirou responded with a nod. "So wait with me."

And then Midoriya threw Aoyama in the air and laser went out. While Midoriya exited, Ojirou caught Aoyama and stood upright to present themselves. He gave a nod of approval.

"Oh. Nice one." Hizashi commented.

"What do they think of me?" Jirou sang first. "Who do they think I'll be? I could not care less, I don't want to know."

"Am I doing right?" Tsuna asked as the girls stood in front of them and presented Mineta as Iida did some moves that made the crowd laugh. "Am I satisfied? I want to live my life, like it's meant to be, yeah!"

"Tried all my life!" Jirou sang this time.

"I tried to find," Tsuna continued, both hands on the mic this time.

"Something that makes me hold on and never let go! Oh!"

The crowd went 'woah' when foothold of ice came out of nowhere above them and some confetti were popped as the two continued to sing. The dancers lined up there and continued to dance with the tune while Aoyama continued to become a disco ball above them with Midoriya holding him and running around.

"Hero too! I am a hero too! My heart is set!" They chorused.

"My heart is set!" Jirou echoed this time.

"And I won't back down!" Tsuna added.

"Hero too! Strength doesn't make a hero! True heroes stand up for what they believe! So wait and see!"

"People will judge for no reason at all." Jirou sang slowly before a rift off was given.

"Yeah they might try, to say your dream's dumb." Tsuna shook his head with a smile. "Don't listen."

"They may look down on me." Jirou replied, eyeing the brunet who gazed at her. "And count me out. I'm going my own way."

"They may look down on me, and count me out." Tsuna sang, nodding to them as if telling the lady to say something. "I'm a hero."

"I've got music!" Jirou added before softly singing the chorus with her soulful voice. "Hero too, I am a hero too. My heart is set, and I won't back down."

"Hero too. Strength doesn't make a hero." Tsuna sang equally soft, coaxing in a gentle yet firm way. "True heroes stand up for what they believe."

"Yeah we'll be!" Both shouted enthusiastically, causing a cheerful roar from the crowd as Uraraka came around with the help of Asui, and slapped people's hands to make them float while Sero attached his tapes to them to keep them upright. "Hero too! I am a hero too! My heart is set! And I won't back down! Hero too! Strength doesn't make a hero! True heroes stand up for what they believe! So wait and see!"

Orange eyes gazed at them straight with a grateful, appreciative and warm smile. "I have met so many heroes in my life. Give me strength and courage to survive."

"Gave me the power to smile every day. Now it's our turn," Jirou smiled widely as Tsuna pointed a finger to them and gave a wink.

"To be the one to make you smile." They both ended and let the melody slowly end.

Shouta can't help his hands from raising and clapping with the crowd as Tsuna beamed at them and waved a hand. He watched as Jirou tackled his son with an exuberant smile, and the brunet caught her with ease and tried to calm her down. The two vocalist strengthened up, put their hands to their chests and gave bows. The audience whooped and cheered at how good they were.

Shouta covered half of his face to hide the proud smile. No wonder Tsuna was so secretive about it. He was really insecure about his voice because he said it wasn't that good. God. The hero remembers hearing the brunet hum some Italian lullabies under his breath all the time, and whenever he tried to coax the kid, he'll turn red, wince and hide. Those rare ones he can hear him sing are when they sleep in the same bed or the couch, and Tsuna will try to lull him to sleep whenever the brunet thinks he's too dazed after a nightmare attack. He remembers being hugged, feeling the brunet nuzzling on him while singing to him soft melodies until he eventually falls asleep. He was four when he started, until their recent sleep together.

So when he received those recording of his son, singing songs with different genre, he couldn't stop himself from trying to trap the buds to his ears with his hands, maximize the volume and just plainly listen to Tsuna's voice. It will take a lot of effort for the brunet to relent and accept that he can really sing, that he has a beautiful voice.

"I think I found out Tsuna's fourth quirk." Hizashi voiced.

"Yeah?" He replied.

"Can we call it melody?" His best friend suggest, causing him and Reborn to crack. "What?! He has Sunshine smile! Let's call this one melody!"

"Will do, will do." He accepted before eyeing Eri, who is smiling widely, as she and Togata walked to them.

"Ah, look." Reborn pointed out and poked a finger to the child's cheeks, which made the latter giggle. "The little girl learned how to smile. Good job, Eri."

"Mission accomplished?" He queried to Togata who looks really teary and happy.

"Accomplished." The teen answered.

He nodded. "Let's go find Midoriya."

The two grown men eyed him teasingly as they exited. He glared at them. Of course he's going to see his son. Tsuna deserves the world.

"Come here you little-" He gave a 'uwah' when Katsuki took him under his arm and gave him a noogie. "Don't get embarrassed of your capabilities, you asshole!"

"K-Katsuki!" He tried to placate while laughing a little.

A hand gripped his hair and pulled so red eyes can make an eye contact. "I'm only gonna say this once. You do not degrade yourself, understand, Tsuna? You did great in there."

He couldn't say a thing when the blond let him go and went for Kirishima and Denki who was calling out. Tsuna put a hand on his throat and sagged at the comfort. He had fun. It was really fun. He sang his heart out with Jirou and found his family at the back. His Dad... His Dad was really beaming and watching him. Reborn was there too, singing along with him. And he couldn't just help giving his all, and he doesn't regret anything. Add the fact that Katsuki praised him? It's enough.

"You look like a lovestruck puppy in there." Reborn said while walking up to him. The hitman smirked. "Good job, Tsuna."

He smiled. "I felt so relieved I did well."

"I told you there was nothing to be nervous about." The man knocked on his forehead softly. "Do it with your Dying Will."

"Plus ultra Dying Will." He corrected with a snicker, which made the other grin too.

"You need to explain things to your Dad." Reborn advised, gesturing to Shouta who is walking towards them. "I'm going to go too."

His intuition spiked. "Can't you not go?"

"I can, but it will be bad for my reputation." Reborn answered which made him sigh. "Don't worry. I'll be fine."

Tsuna gestured the other to come down.

"What?" The hitman asked, bending a little.

He pulled the hat off, placed a hand on the other's nape and kept him still as he kissed the offered forehead. He grinned at the shock expression as he arranged the hat. He likes surprising this Reborn. So deprived of affection. He deserves the love. "Come back home to me, Reborn."

Onyx eyes flashed yellow. "I promise."

Tsuna grinned.

"You just molested Reborn, Tsuna." Shouta sighed, clearly watching how everything played out. "I said so. My son is going to be a heartbreaker."

"D-Dad!" He exclaimed before staggering towards the man, while Reborn made his exit. "I'm so sorry for keeping it a secret! I-I wasn't that confident and I just wanted to surprise you since you really wanted for me to sing in front of you. But I'm too- Uhm. Shy? Yeah! Shy to sing to you alone. But it was really Katsuki's fault because he made me volunteer and threatened me that he won't play drums if I don't sing! I was really really reluctant at first because I don't know how to play any instrument, and Kyouka can't teach another guitarist because Denki's already on it with Fumikage. I mean, it will look bad if I don't have any instrument in hands while they have theirs, right? But she still took me in and made me practice with them, until it all went down today and-"

"You did great." Shouta cut off, a hand on his head and ruffling his hair. He was graced with one of those big proud smiles. "You were amazing on the stage. You're amazing, Tsuna."

"Dad!" He shouted and hugged the man, causing the latter to chuckle.

"Why don't we stalk Midoriya, Eri and Togata while enjoying the festival? Your batch Kendou is on the Miss Con with Hadou." Shouta invited.

He looked up and beamed. "Let's!"

The festival was lit. It was his first time enjoying something as a school event for the past years he was in the world. He will pull his Dad to some stall, still keeping an eye on the trio. The Miss Con was pretty fun. Kendou from Class B made a good show of her martial arts. But Hadou's aerial dance was much more amazing. In the end of the day, she won. They came to eat a lot of food, got a glimpse of Katsuki on an obstacle course, and visited Hitoshi in their booth.

A little in time, Tsuna had to excuse himself to his Dad when Izuku asked for his help. Like he guessed, the greenet was going to make an apple candy for Eri. He helped him make it since Izuku has all the ingredients and he knew how to make them. He had a lot of practice back in his days, he's not rusty with his skills too. He left the teen to surprise Eri while he bid his Dad a later so they could eat dinner in the hospital.

Reborn didn't call nor come home to them that evening.

Tsuna perked up when his intuition kicked him awake. He sat up, fully awake and looked at the clock. It was three-thirty in mid-overnight. His gut churned in an anxious and displeased way. He wanted to ask 'why', but he didn't. Ut was a normal occurrence for him to be kicked this way back in his old world. His intuition nudged him to take his phone and go for his laptop. He followed. He powered up his laptop, kept his phone close and took his combat headphone just in case.

He raised his arms and stretched. He's honestly exhausted awhile ago. They did some clean up, cooked with Katsuki before running for the hospital. He stayed up until one, feeling strange. Like he wanna sleep, but his body gave in and pulled him to his bed. He shouldn't even be awake since their class will start tomorrow again.

It can't be helped.

Just then, his phone started to ring. Instead of taking his phone, he put his headphones on and said 'received'. Familiar ragged breathing came to his ears.

"Reborn?" He called.

"Hey, Tsuna."

"Where are you? It should be quarter to nine there in Italy." He said as his hand started to run through the keyboard.

"Don't mind that." Cue a heavy sigh. "I-I have a request."

"Hm?" He asked as he entered Reborn's GPS number.

"C-Can you sing me a s-song? A lullaby?"

Trepidation donned on Tsuna, making him pause. It can't be... "You idiot! Why did you call me?! You could've called Lal to get you and be a back up!"

A sigh. "I-It's a l-lost case."

"Where are you shot?" He asked as he let his hands dance on the keyboard, hacking the satellite like how Shoichi, Spanner and Gianini taught him. "Tell me."

"O-On the shoulder." A groan of pain. "One on the thigh and leg. Then on my side."

He almost stopped as fear gripped his heart. "What side?"

A short intake of breath. "Liver? Stomach? I don't know."

Tsuna gripped his hair with a hand as he slowly tears up. Fuck. "Why in hell can't you heal yourself?"

A weak laugh. "A downside of my quirk."

He took his phone after pressing 'enter', and prayed as he dialed Xanxus. "I'm dialling Xanxus."

"It's hopeless and you don't even have his number."

"I have to try!" He shouted as tears streamed. "You can't just die on me, Reborn. You promised me you'll come back." He gripped his hair and phone tightly. "You promised you'll come home to me. How can I say welcome home when I can never see you again? I-I can't..." He sobbed at the image of Reborn's cold body in front of him. "I can't say it to your dead body, Reborn."

"Tsuna."

"I'll die." He whispered.

"You really love confessing to me." Reborn hummed, coughing a little. It snapped out Tsuna, and he continued to dial Xanxus' number he knew by heart. He really hopes... "I'll miss your smile, laughter and eyes. I'll miss your quirkiness. I'll miss your flames. I'll miss your face, and resignation over my teasing. I'll miss you. Good thing I called you so I won't miss your voice."

He closed his eyes and trapped his headphones to his ears by his hands to keep hearing Reborn's voice.

"I really love how you greet me with welcome home, good morning, good night. I love it when you tell me to come back home to you and give me the warmest hugs. I love it when you say you love me, when you tell me how much you adore me and how you'll burn everything if something happens to me. I love your acceptance, your warmth. I love your resolve. I love how you give hope. I love your indifference. I just love you and all of you, Tsuna."

He sobbed and hiccuped.

"Don't cry, Tsuna. If I die, at least, I spent my last moments with you. I'm happy that I met you. I think, even if I was in my cursed form, I will still follow you around. With the people I've known so far, you're the only one who have given me home without trying hard to insist the idea to me. You gave me family that everytime I come back, I'll think about family as you and your Dad, and you effortlessly accept me regardless of my profession. To the point that you were able to pull Aizawa in it. Mio Dio. Your Dad is so lucky to have you."

"There's still hope." He insisted.

"We both know it's dawdling to zero, Tsuna." A whisper. "Tell Aizawa that I see him as my brother, alright? Tell Eri to be good and learn things from you. And tell yourself to never give up. We love your Dying Will."

He sobbed. "I love you, Reborn."

A hum. "I know."

"What a beautiful thing is a sunny day," He sang in Italian, relenting to the request and trying to keep his voice even while his heart breaks pieces by pieces. "The air is calm after a storm."

"'O Sole Mio?"

"In the fresh air it seems there's already a celebration. What a beautiful thing is a sunny day. But another sun... That's more beautiful."

He heard a weak chuckle.

"My own sun shines in you. The sun, my own sun, shines in you. Oh, shines in you."

He sobbed as he hears Reborn's breathing getting raspy.

"When night has come and the sun has set, I almost start feeling blue;"

"Oh Tsuna."

He hiccuped. "I'd stay below your window when night has come and the sun has set. But another sun... That's more beautiful. My own sun shines in you. The sun, my own sun, shines in you. Oh." His sobs came harder. "My sun." He sang, remembering Reborn's smiles on him, his chuckles, his eyes. "Oh my silly sun shines in... you."

"Tsuna... If I had manifested my flames, will you take me as your sun?"

"Silly." He laughed hollowly. "You're my sun. I'll gladly harmonize with you."

"That's good." A shuffle then some shouts were heard. "Thank you."

"Reborn-"

"I love you."

He closed his eyes tightly as the line cut off. Then he heard a loud 'ping'. He opened his eyes as his laptop started to zoom in to the Earth's geography to the continent of Europe, then to a country, a city, a street then a building. Then he looked at his phone as the ringing got cut off.

"Who the fuck-"

"X-Xanxus!" He cried as he yanked his headphones off and put the phone to his left ear.

"Wha-"

"Please! Please! Find him!" He begged.

"Who?"

"Find my hitman! Please! Find Reborn! Find my Reborn!" He shot off. "I pinpointed his GPS. He was shot on the shoulder, thigh and leg and on the side. He just cut off the line between us but I heard some men closing in."

"Where?!"

He read the building. "La Cantina."

"Got it."

"And Xanxus," He glared at his laptop as he gripped the phone harder. "kill them all."

The call ended.

Tsuna gathered his knees to his chest, hugged them and stared at his phone. He waited for a call, but he knew... He knew it happened. He knew it was gone. He didn't wipe off the tears from his face as he sobs and hiccups. But he'll hope. Even if it's hopeless, he'll hope. He will cling to that hope that his hitman is alive. That his Reborn is alive.

His phone lit and it rang. He quickly answered it and put it by his ear. He heard breathing, but it only made him cry harder.

"We were too late." Xanxus' voice was void of emotion, except for sympathy. "It was a head shot. But before they could take him away, we got them."

He sobbed. "Thank you."

"Mammon said you're not from this world, something about this fucked up world sucking you in because we need you as balance, but you're occupying the same body as your counterpart. Is that right?"

"Yes."

"Then someone wants to talk to you." Then a shuffle was heard, before a familiar voice called his name, "Tsuna."

His heart clutched in grief. "No..."

"I'm sorry."

He wailed. "No! No!" He gripped his hair and cried harder. "Not you too... Not both of you..."
