The moment Eliza walks through Kara's apartment door she makes a beeline for her youngest daughter who has yet to move from her spot on the couch "Isla Danvers you have some explaining to do young lady!" Isla stands up and faces her Mom, "Well I wouldn't If you had just let me stay at Jamie's house!" Eliza let's out a sarcastic laugh "I am not letting my fourteen year old daughter stay the night at her boyfriends house!" Isla gets right in Eliza's face "Well because of you he isn't my boyfriend anymore, he dumped me!" Eliza puts her hands on Isla's shoulders "Are you listening to yourself, he dumped you because you wouldn't stay at his house.. my point has just been made" Isla clenches her fists at the side of her body as anger begins to brew. Deep inside she knows her Mom is right but there is no way she would admit it out loud. Instead Isla storms off and makes her way towards Kara's bedroom but not before she yells one last time at Eliza "I'm NOT coming back with you, I don't want to live in Midvale! Midvale sucks and so do you!" Eliza sighs as she looks between her two other daughters, the three of them stand in silence for a few minutes "I'll go talk to her" Kara breaks the silence "I mean I fight alien criminals every day, how hard can a teenager be" Eliza plops herself in the middle of the couch "Trust me, they are worse".
Kara takes a seat next to Isla who is lying on the bed crying, "I know that you know Eliza is right, this Jamie guy, he is not a good guy if he broke up with you over you not staying at his house" Isla snuffles before she sits up again "I know" she looks down and starts fiddling with her bracelet. Treading carefully Kara asks her next question "Then why did you run away? you know that Eliza only wants what is best for you. She has done so much for you and I, taking us in, she never had to do that but she did.." Isla quickly chimes in "I know she did and I don't really hate her I just said it, I just got so angry and I couldn't take it anymore. I am going crazy in Midvale Kara. I need a change, I need to be somewhere else" "Well where are you going to go Isla, you can't stay here" Kara says as she points towards her small apartment, "Why not? Why can't I stay here. I can sleep on the couch and I have already found a school I can go to, it's close by so I can walk there, please Kara, pleaseee" Isla grabs Karas hands as she pleads to her. Kara slowly shakes her head "Even if I did say yes, Eliza would never let you, changing schools is one thing but completely moving from home, I don't know Isla" Isla squeezes Kara's hands tighter "Please Kara, Please. She might listen if you are on board too. I also heard Mom on the phone the other night, they want her to go do some work in Africa but she said no because of me and this way she can go" Kara sighs before she succumbs to Isla's pleads "Okay fine, fine. I will talk to her but don't get your hopes up" Isla wraps Kara into her arms "Thank you, thank you, you are the best sister!" "Yeah yeah, get up then i'm not talking to Eliza alone" they both get up and make their way back to the living room.
"No, absolutely not. That is not happening" Eliza says as soon as Kara fills her in about what Isla wants, "You didn't even think about it! Why can't I? If I come here then you can go to Africa for your job and we both get what we want!" Isla yells, "How do you know about Africa?" Eliza states, "Well.. I might have overheard you on the phone.. you said you wanted to go but you couldn't because of me" Isla replies. Eliza sighs "Isla, I would rather have you safe at home with me then go on some silly business trip and besides you cannot just sleep on Kara's couch in her tiny apartment. You are a teenager and you need your own space". Isla looks around the apartment, she knows too well that eventually she would get sick of sleeping on a couch without any privacy, her eyes fall on her older sister Alex "What if I stayed with Alex and Maggie? They have their new apartment and an extra room.. and you know that I would be safe here with Alex and Kara because Alex has been protective over me since forever and well Kara.. Kara has super powers" Kara laughs and shrugs at Eliza "Well it's true" "Not helping Kara" Eliza says through gritted teeth. After being silent for the whole conversation Alex breaks her silence "Okay first, I never offered up my apartment" Isla opens up her mouth to protest but Alex puts up her finger to shush her "but if you do want to go on this trip Mom then maybe it could be a good opportunity for you to well.. have a break. You said yourself on the phone that you are struggling so this might be a good opportunity for the both of you" Eliza looks between her daughters "Alex I.." Alex points up her finger again but this time to shush Eliza "I know you feel obliged to be here for us all the time but maybe you need some time for yourself. It is almost school break anyway and If everything works out then we can enrol Isla into school here after the break" Alex continues, "I don't know Alex.." Eliza say, Isla jumps into the conversation "Please Mom, please. I will be good here and I will listen to Alex and Kara. I promise!". Eliza paces back and forth thinking about her daughter requests before she puts up her arms in surrender "Okay, okay. You can stay with Alex but you have to call me every few days and if there are any issues" Eliza looks to each of her three daughters "then you call me straight away" Isla has a big smile on her face "Deal!" she says. Eliza turns to grab her keys and starts to head to the door "Wait where are you going?" Alex says, "To go and pack my bags.. I guess I'm going to Africa" Eliza says as she exits the apartment.
