Annabeth glanced over at Jason. When she had saw that Barton was about to leave, she and Jason had snuck aboard the vehicle and were now waiting to see if he was going to take them to Percy.

From the sound of things, they were about to land on a SHIELD base.

And the men were preparing to attack.

She exchanged a glance with Jason.

This was really, really bad.

Annabeth almost dreaded whatever was about to happen.

But if they found Percy and told him what Loki was up to. . . they might be able to stop this.

Percy rubbed his eyes. This argument kept getting worse and worse. It almost reminded him of the arguments that had happened around the Ping-Pong table at Camp.

Percy flinched at the memory before shaking his head and turning his attention back to the argument.

Thor was saying, "You speak of control, yet you court chaos."

"It's his M.O., isn't it?" Dr. Banner said. "I mean, what are we, a team? No, no, no. We're a chemical mixture that makes chaos. We're. . . we're a time-bomb."

Percy watched the frown form on Director Fury's face, feeling a little bit of annoyance coming from behind the man's walls. "You need to step away."

Stark put his arm around Captain America. "Why shouldn't the guy let off a little steam?"

The captain pushed the arm around him off and snapped, "You know damn well why! Back off!"

Percy watched as the billionaire and the soldier came face-to-face. Stark then said, "Oh, I'm starting to want you to make me."

Captain Rogers snorted, "Big man in a suit of armor. Take that off, what are you?"

"Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist." Stark returned.

Percy rolled his eyes at that and exchanged a look with Natasha.

That was true after all.

"I know guys with none of that worth ten of you," Captain Rogers sneered back. "Yeah, I've seen the footage. The only thing you really fight for is yourself. You're not the guy to make the sacrificial play, to lay down on a wire and let the other guy crawl over you."

Percy flinched at that.

That was true too.

"I think I would just cut the wire." Stark responded.

Captain Rogers smiled at that. "Always a way out. . . You know, you may not be threat, but you better stop pretending to be a hero."

"A hero?" Stark snapped, finally losing his temper. "Like you? You're a lab rat, Rogers. Everything special about you came out of a bottle!"

That caused Percy to scowl a little. He could sympathize a little with Captain Rogers after all.

His powers had come from a bottle too.

"Excuse me, Stark," he snapped, finally losing his temper, "you want to start a fucking fight?"

Everyone turned towards Percy.

Clearly, they had forgotten he was there.

Annabeth watched as the ramp of the carrier slowly opened, exchanging a nervous glance with Jason as they focused on what Barton was doing. The man had started down the ramp holding a bow.

He pulled out a strange, tipped arrow and pointed it towards the Helicarrier.

Annabeth stiffened and exchanged a nervous look with Jason.

That didn't look good.

Barton released the arrow.

Whatever was going on, Annabeth didn't think it was anything good.

Steve glared at Stark his chest puffing out a little as the other just stood there unmoving. The kids' words were cutting enough that they had caught everyone's attention. After all, Agent Jackson had been created just like he had.

He snapped at Stark aggressively. "Put on the suit, let's go a few rounds. Agent Jackson, your more than welcome to help me pound this clown into the ground."

The smile that came across the kids face was dangerous.

"With pleasure," the kid said.

"Percy. . ." Natasha began, scoldingly.

Thor laughed at them. "You people are so petty. . . and tiny."

Steve sighed and took a step back away from Stark as the other man rubbed his head.

"Yeah, this is a team. . ." Dr. Banner began to say.

"Agent Romanoff, Agent Jackson, would you both escort Dr. Banner back to his. . ." Fury started to say.

"Where?" Dr. Banner said coolly, interrupting the Director. "You rented my room."

Fury shook his head. "The cell was just in case. . ."

"In case you needed to kill me, but you can't! I've tried!" Dr. Banner snapped.

Everyone froze and stared at the doctor in surprise.

Dr. Banner shifted under the surprised looks. "I got low. I didn't see an end, so I put a bullet in my mouth and the other guy spit it out! So, I moved on. I focused on helping other people. I was good until you dragged me back into the freak show and put everyone here at risk!"

Steve stared at the slowly growing anger, a feeling of nervousness building up inside his chest as the doctor got angrier and angrier.

Banner had turned to Romanoff. "You wanna know my secret, Agent Romanoff? You wanna know how I stay calm?"

Steve noticed that the director and Romanoff had put their hands on their guns and the kid had gotten off the table he was sitting on and was slowly moving towards the doctor, his eyes fixed on what the man was holding.

Steve eyed it too.

"Dr. Banner. . . put down the scepter."

Steve took in the surprise in Banner's eyes as he looked down and realized that he was holding Loki's scepter.

Then the computer beeped. They all turned to look at it.

"Got it," Stark said.

Dr. Banner put down the scepter and walked towards the computer. "Sorry, kids. You don't get to see my little party trick after all."

"Located the Tesseract?" asked Thor.

"I can get there faster." Stark said.

"Look, all of us. . ." Steve started to say.

"The Tesseract belongs to Asgard, no human is a match for it." Thor said.

Steve grabbed Stark's arm as he started to leave. "You're not going alone!"

"You gonna stop me?" sneered Stark.

"Put on the suit, let's find out," Steve snapped back.

"I'm not afraid to hit an old man."

"Put on the suit." growled Steve.

"Oh, my God!" Banner said suddenly causing everyone to turn back to him.

Steve's eyes widened at the fear in Banner's voice.

Something was very, very wrong.

Percy took a step forward when Banner spoke up. Whatever the doctor had seen, Percy could tell from his mind that it was something really, really bad.

Just as he took that step forward, a loud explosion tore through the Helicarrier, knocking Percy off his feet and throwing him backwards across the room.

Percy was so shocked that he didn't even use his telekinesis to stop himself from flying through the air backwards into a wall.

He landed hard on his back and let out a quiet groan of pain.

Nearby, he heard Captain Rogers say to Stark. "Put on the suit!"

"Yep!" Stark responded.

As Percy pushed himself up on his hands, he saw Stark and Captain Rogers run out of the lab. He turned towards where the Director had been standing, spotting the older man pushing himself up, as he clutched his ribs.

In an instant, Percy was over there gripping the Director's shoulder. "Director?"

"I'm fine," Fury said as he reached up and touched his earpiece. "Hill?!"

Over the comm, Agent Hill was talking to the Bridge crew. "Turn up that engine! Number 3 engine is down! Can we get a run in?"

A Bridge member spoke up, "Turbine's loose. Mostly intact, but it's impossible to get out there and make repairs while we're in the air."

Agent Hill responded. "We lose one more engine, we won't be. Somebody's got to get inside and patch that engine."

"Stark! You copy that?!" Fury called over the comm to Stark.

"I'm on it!" Stark responded.

"Coulson! Initiate official lockdown in the detention section then get to the armory. Move out!" Fury ordered before turning to Percy. "Jackson, go help Coulson!"

Percy nodded and jumped to his feet, heading for the lower levels to join Coulson.

Annabeth let out a small yelp when a loud explosion tore through the air. She watched with wide eyes as the ship landed on the bases deck and the men began to disembark.

Her eyes turned to face Jason.

He looked pale and shocked too.

They both began to slip out of the area they were hiding and headed towards the open ship's door.

They followed after the men and Barton.

They entered the ships air ducts and after a shared look, the two of them stopped following the group.

Annabeth turned to Jason. "Do you think Percy's here?"

"I don't know," Jason admitted. "Let's check out where exactly we are and then we can figure out if Percy is here. Can you hack into a computer?"

Annabeth paused at that, thinking about that. Then she nodded slowly. "I think so. Let's move."

And then the two of them tore off in the direction of the stairwell.

Annabeth could feel a touch of worry enter her heart as they headed off.

Hopefully when they found Percy, he would listen to them about what Loki was up to.

But after the last time Annabeth knew that they would really struggle in getting him to listen to them.
