Sokka sighed as he sat on Appa's saddle as the group was flying in the sky at the moment on their way to their next stop

His sister, Katara was at the edge of the saddle closet to Appa's head as was doing something she did not use to do a lot before. Arguing with Aang over something that as usual had to do with his badgermole raised earthbending teacher.

"Look I am just saying that she should not come along with us this time around. She is not ready for it at the moment. She need to be taught more before we start taking her into town" Katara argued.

"She is learning as you saw how she acted in the last town" Aang countered.

"True, she did give the guy money this time around" Sokka added.

"It was the wrong amount and she just grabbed a handful of cabbage herself" Katara told him.

"Nnn Nnn" Toph said as she sat in her regular seat which was right next to her student on Appa's head.

"Translate Aang" Sokka called out.

"She said 'no number' as in she can not count and we did not realize that. So it partially our fault that while we taught her food cost money. How much money was something we managed to leave out" Aang said.

Katara then argued that Toph had been with them for quite some time now and she could not at least say Aang's name fully despite knowing the letter and she did not even get started on her not even being able to pronounce the letters of her own.

A smirk appear on the blind girl's face after hearing this and decide now was the time to reveal something she had been practicing on.

"Aang" she said hoping she was looking in Katara's direction based on where she heard her voice coming from.

"Congrats Aang as you are…" Sokka said before he was interrupted by her.

"Toph" she said causing the Avatar to drop the reigns of Appa as all their jaws dropped at this.

Not only had she managed to say Aang's name but she also said her own which they were not even aware she even say the letter that made it up.

Beaming with pride as she spend a lot of her free time practicing this as talking like Aang was difficult but she was not going to give up. She expected a lot from him so she should work just as hard to meet what he expects from her while doing her own lessons.

Although this did not last long as she pushed down on Appa's head as hard as she could managing to convey that she wanted the sky bison to go down. Then she felt for Aang's arm and flung it upwards into the air wanting him to wave it around.

"Rock" Sokka yelled curiously looking in the direction Toph's was facing before she acted as she did.

Aang and Katara looked as well to see that indeed there was a rock and huge boulder size one coming from behind them. Jumping up Aang managed to slice the boulder size rock clean in half using his staff while Toph also stood up at moment he finished to push the pieces far away from them so Appa was struck as they fell down to land.

"Those two make quite the team do not you think….never mind" Sokka said as Katara was giving him that glare where the temperature drop around her.

As for how Toph was able to notice the boulder flying at them when she was not even able to see being on the sky bison while in mid air. It all had to do with her enhanced hearing, that's greater then typical blind person because she sent seven years as living like a badgermole. Also the fact that up here in the sky there really was not much unless to hear so something as out place as boulder was pretty easy for her to pick up.

Looking in the distance from where the boulder came from Team Avatar noticed something coming towards them at a steady speed. It looked like a mixture between the hot air balloons they used repeal the Fire Nation from the Northern Air Temple and very small Fire nation cruiser.

Though they could not see who was on there was a tell tale sign of who was coming after them from the blue fire being used to keep the balloons inflated and as another pair firebender seem to be driving force behind the vehicles speed

"I thought you said that she would not be able to detect us" Azula said rather pissed they lost some of the element of surprise.

"It was a huge boulder in this otherwise empty sky. That girl might be blind but she is not deaf" Xin Fu told her while getting prepare to chuck someone more much small rocks at Appa.

"Mai when we get in range start attacking as other then the Avatar we do not have to worry about long range attacks" she told her.

Which was true as Katara's waterbending could not reach that far and it was dangerous to try bend water from the clouds. While Toph did not have anything to bend and even if she did her aim would spotty at best as she could only get so far depending on her hearing. Sokka well he could lose his weapons for good in just one bad throw.

Also they never really expected an air attack from anyone as following them from the ground or trying to taking them down with anti-air attacks were all they planned for. A mid air fight was something Team Avatar did not ever plan for thinking it just would not happened.

So when the knife throwing did start as unlike Sokka, apparently Mai had no worries about using her knives as she could always get more of them. Aang not wanting to risk Appa as the hybrid hot air balloon cruiser powered by Azula and other pair of fire bender was shocking fast. Even more so when they switched places and the Fire Nation Princess focused on the vehicle's speed.

Rather then risking them getting board as he noticed Ty Lee was also there with them and could guess what she was there for. If the chi blocker was allow on board Appa's saddle then it would be game over as she just chi block them all leaving them defenseless. So quickly had Appa descend into the clouds to land or at least buy some time as that thing might be able to go a decent speed as they are now but the problem could how fast they ascend and descend. It could not possible be at equal rate cause result in them fall out the sky and crash to the ground.
