The hailfire of bullets from the spellcard created a maze to navigate where every wall that Reimu passed could spell instant death. Her small frame made it easier to navigate but as time went on the pattern got tighter and more narrow. Errors could not be made. Marisa continued trying to encourage her friend to put this to an end. Hecatia just wanted her Nephew to accept what he had done along with Nahumar wanting his brother to be fine.
"His card has to run out eventually." Reimu thought to herself as she narrowly dodged a shift in the maze's pattern. Her sleeves getting torn in the process. "Do you not care for your brother!?" she screamed at her opponent. Deimos' white iris on the black sclera background just glared at her.
"It is because of my brother that father is dead! That our kingdom went to ruin!" A shift in the maze nearly tossed the priestess for a loop. The struggle was just trying to reach him as every time Reimu made it within range the maze moved and altered to force her back and restart her ascension.
"And once I win, he's next!"
The turbulent barrage tightened up and made the maze thinner. The focus she had to keep from getting bombarded soon caused her to see something strange...a visage of a woman in an odd garb not native to Gensokyo. She called to her and showed that the maze was not getting tighter. It was in fact an illusion to try and get her to make more mistakes. With focus, she could see the maze again for what it was. The bullets faded from her vision and...
"She's picking up speed again!" Marisa called out the obvious as her graceful flying turned and twisted through the maze. Deimos was only now feeling the sense of dread. The impending doom. Never had he felt like this in combat and his interest in the Priestess...became a reality.
Then she managed to do it. Gracefully soaring out from the mess of a card like a dolphin, Reimu quickly flipped as she went back down with her leg outstretched. Screaming in annoyance and anger.
"Wake up already you dumbass!" The bottom of Reimu's heel smashed right on top of Deimos' head. This launched the god straight into the ground and produced a small crater as the dust obscured his body. The fight was finally done...
The barrier made by Hecatia lifted. The smoke faintly easing off. Suika soon felt a change in Deimos' power as she took a swig of her gourd.
"Huh. His power just went down immensely."
Within the crater that Reimu looked down upon, what remained was not a human form but the same sphere like Nahumar with the exception of his eye coloring being a white iris on a black background. She managed to reduce the god to his true form. The priestess descended until her feet touched the ground just shy of the edge to the crater.
"Damn you..." Deimos in his weakened state tried to comprehend what he saw and what caused him to pull back was not his weakened state but rather-
"DEIMOS!" despite the conflict before, the god of fear himself ran out to grab and hold his brother in his arms. Marisa was about to follow though she slowed down as she noticed how Reimu was looking at them. Yukari popped between Hecatia and Marisa acting as some narrator to the tale.
"Two brothers of similar feelings though opposing versions. Perhaps this will work now?"
Reimu hopped down the side of the crater to slide over to Nahumar's side as he was holding his brother, speaking sense.
"Stop at once, please. What happened is done and it can't change. But we can start anew please..."
"You think restarting from scratch is-"
"I know you're scared of starting from nothing. Give it a chance. I'm here for you..."
Holding his brother, Nahumar tried to employ the same embrace their mother would give to calm them down. The simple missing of this kind of affection brought the god of terror to tears in his eye. Easily nestling into his brother's chest with pain in his voice choking up.
"I...didn't mean to kill him. I'm sorry."
"Yeah this is all sappy and happy BUT-" Reimu looked to the brothers and enforced her words. "You're going to be punished. So what can we..."
"Perhaps I can offer a good one?" It was Suika with Yuugi in tow as the Oni would whisper something into Reimu's ear. Her expression turned to shock then a grin before clearing her throat.
"Deimo-I mean...Yakyosho. Your punishment is-"
After the small incident involving Nahumar's brother, peace returned to Gensokyo again. Reimu sat on the edge of her shrine. She gave a loud yawn before falling on her back to enjoy the day like usual. The Nighthare hopped over as she looked to rest besides Reimu with the same content. "Hm...You know, I should give you a name if you're going to be around often..." Reimu turned her head to the Nighthare that sniffed and let off a weird chirp like noise to confirm it heard her.
"You really are purple...So how about Budo?"
The Nighthare accepted the name Budo with a light hop. Making Reimu chuckle. "You really like that name huh? Well Budo, I hope you're okay with these calm afternoons-"
"REIMU!" Marisa's voice shot forth as she just said that.
"And I had to open my big mouth...What is it Marisa?"
"T-the festival! We forgot to get the Kappas to offer help this year!"
"EEEHH!? WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO!"
With the two of them taking off immediately, that left Budo to sit on the porch and wait for Reimu to return...Then a soft, silky hand grazed along the Nighthare's back. A gentle pet before it took notice of the gap youkai before her. Feeling a sense of dread at her presence.
"Relax little one. I'm just passing by." Yukari smiled sweetly before picking the purple rabbit with care to talk to it.
"I was going to tell Reimu but i'll let her worry about the festival for now. Deim- I mean...Yakyosho finally left the past behind. It can be hard to accept your actions and move on. The folly of emotional gods and entities at times will be their own undoing...but I have faith he'll enjoy his new home."
Budo however chirped at Yukari.
"Hm? You want to help too? What can a tiny rabbit even do?" her smug smile took the chirps as a request for something. "Perhaps you might be interested in an 'upgrade'? That is if you are okay looking more human. It will take some time..."
As they would wait for Reimu to return though...
Down below in Former Hell...
"YAKYOSHO!" The voice of an enraged spider started swinging through the streets with the aid of a green haired Tsurube-otoshi as the man with short black hair and white eyes ran through the streets dodging every individual in sight as much as he could.
"I SAID I WAS SORRY!" He cried back in his own terror. Yamame was not having it however...
"MY NAME WAS ON THAT BAG! I WAS SAVING THAT MOCHI FOR LATER!"
As it turns out, his punishment after causing an incident was to remain in Former Hell for a whole year. Just in time for another possible party.
Speaking of parties...There is still the festival to attend.
