Ch 6: Other M Pt 5
Okay, guys. Back way sooner than last time so... Let's Kick it up!
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Adam had known Samus longer than any person who could be found in the galaxy. So he, above all others knew the way that his would have been sister-in-law thought.
"Samus. I know that you want to go after Ridley. But we still have to figure out what happened here." Adam urged.
"I know Adam. I've killed Ridley enough times to know that patience is key in doing so. I'm still here to help." Samus confirmed before hearing a beeping and activating materializing her helmet. "And this should help me do it."
"What is it?" Adam asked as Samus connected the systems in her suit to the computer.
"I placed down a probe when I found out about the Deleter. Not only would it keep the camera running, but it would give us archive footage and data." Samus explained.
"Not bad." Adam complimented as they looked through the footage.
As they went backwards through the footage, Samus was quick to pick up on the footage from Sector 3.
"Right there." She said before stopping the rewind and played James killing Lyle before he was killed by Kraid. "Looks like the Deleter was deleted." She said with a slight smirk.
"Deleter?" Anthony asked before Samus and Adam looked to each other and nodded.
"There's a group within the Federation that we call the 'Splinter Cell', for lack of their actual name. They're goal is to bring order to the galaxy though more extreme methods than the Federation proper approves of. They likely had a project here, which is why they sent James to kill us off one by one." Adam explained.
"Oh my god." Samus let out in a whisper before the two men looked at her. "I know what they're doing." Samus said before bringing up hidden files of the plans to clone the creatures from the most of the most dangerous planets in the galaxy.
"Metroids." Adam said as he looked upon the cyan version of the Chozo made life form. "It looks like like they were trying to mutate the Metroids to get rid of their weakness to cold. But they couldn't figure it out." Adam explained.
"Wait. But the federation has never been able to get DNA from a Metroid." Anthony said, some of the pieces falling in to place for Samus.
"They did once." Samus said, her friends looking to her. "After a mission on the Metroid home world, I took Vir... the last Metroid to a lab. That's where they likely got the DNA." Samus explained while fighting the urge to grit her teeth. 'They used my baby to make weapons.' She thought, her rage growing ever hotter.
"We need to stop this before this those Metroids are unleashed on the galaxy." Adam said before turning to the bounty hunter. "Samus, have you been able to determine if any of the crew are left?" He asked.
"It looks like most of the surviving crew had left via escape pods. All except two. One of which, I already encountered and the other is in an area that isn't listed in the areas of the Bottle Ship." Samus explained before showing the two solders the path to the hidden area.
"So, what's the plan then?" Anthony asked as Adam grabbed his helmet.
"We get the last of the people out of here and then report the actions of this lab to the the Federation at large." Adam explained before turning to Samus. "Don't worry. The Splinter Cell won't get away with this. I promise." He said, gaining a nod from the hunter before the three of them moved out.
After several minutes of walking, Samus, Adam, and Anthony arrived at the central elevator. There, Adam was able hack its functions to take the three of them to move to the hidden sector.
"Be ready for anything. I'll take point." Samus said as she moved forward with her comrades behind her. The area around them looked all to familiar to Samus. It was an exact recreation of Tourian, the area which once housed one her greatest enemies, the one who almost took her daughter from her. Mother Brain. Soon enough the three arrived at a doorway, Samus steeling herself until the door opened to reveal the husks of several blue versions of the all too familiar larval state of the Metroids which had seemed to be crushed to death.
"What the hell happened here?" Anthony asked as he knelt down at the husk. Suddenly, both he and Adam were pulled down to the floor as if their bodies were made of led.
"Adam! Anthony!" Samus exclaimed before she looked up to see a large cubical robot flying towards them.
Seeing the arms of their attacker's arms beginning to glow, Samus quickly moved between her friends and it before using her Lightning Armor to block a flurry of blasts, giving Adam the opening he needed to summon enough strength to raise his gun and shoot the device on their attacker's body which was manipulating the gravity in the area.
With Adam and Anthony free to take cover, Samus moved under it and blasted it with a mix of the Plasma and Omega beams, exposing a bit of green flesh and yellow eye which she then unloaded several Super Missles in to take it down.
"Well done." Adam said as Samus looked over to one of the dead Metroids. "None of them are actually her. Remember that." He whispered.
"Yeah. Yeah I know. Let's keep moving." Samus said before the three of them continued on their way.
Soon enough the three of them arrived in a large area which Samus was quick to identify as a recreation of the chamber which housed one of her greatest foes. Mother Brain.
Memories quickly flooded back to Samus of her last encounter with the bio computer on Zebes. The destruction of her girlhood home. Her daughter crying in pain. Shaking it all away, Samus to finish this leading the way through.
Samus then ran forward, using a volley of missiles in order to blast through the barriers in front of them, Adam and Anthony giving her cover against the turrets and Rinkas which were attacking here as she added the power of her Beam Burst in addition to her Ice Beam to freeze the acid pits beneath them.
Once they were clear of the defenses, Samus fired a Super Missile through the the tube and the end of the and prepared a charge from the Omega and Nova Beams.
"Please don't." Samus heard before lowering her her canon to see a woman with short red hair in a lab coat. "Wait a second. You're Samus Aran. Oh thank goodness." The woman said in relief as Samus lowered her weapon.
"Who are you?" Samus asked as the woman relaxed in the chair she was sitting in.
"My name is Madeline Bergman. I've been working here on the Bottle Ship for year under the command of a section of the Federation called the 'Ringleaders'." The woman explained.
"So that's what they call themselves." Adam said as he and Anthony walked up behind her.
"Tell us everything you can." Samus said, taking note that the woman was more than willing to cooperate.
"As you've probably been able to work out, the Ringleaders have been using the Bottle Ship's cover as a nature lab in order to create Bio Weapons. A few years ago, they got something that they believed give them greatest breakthrough in that." Madeline said.
"The Space Pirates and Metroids." Adam said, gaining nod from the scientist.
"It was shortly after the first Zebes crisis. The Ringleaders sent sent a prototype robot to Zebes in order to gain DNA from most of the Space Pirates. From there they also followed your trail to Tallon to get a fragment of Ridley and the fragments of many of the of the Metroids that were found there. However cloning them proved to be difficult without the genetic code of a pure Metroid." Madeline explained, confirming to Samus that Virginia was the key to these experiments. "I was right along with everything until they decided to create a replica of Mother Brain to control the Metroids. In order to control her they gave it an organic body and used the genetic structure of one of the scientists." She said, Samus' eyes widening beneath her helmet.
"It was you. They cloned Mother Brain using you. Melisa is Mother Brain." Samus said in a shock realisation.
"You have to understand! She's not like Mother Brain! Melisa is the sweetest little girl in the galaxy!" Madeline exclaimed in defense before letting out a sigh. "And that's one of the problems. On top of the failed attempt to remove the Metroid's weakness to cold caused them to be weakened. That mixed with their new Mother Brain acting like your average little girl made the Ringleaders decide to call this a wash." She explained.
"And with that, they decided to terminate most of the projects here including Melisa." Adam surmised, gaining a nod from Madeline.
"But since Melisa has Mother Brain's abilities, when she panicked, it caused all the chaos to erupt here." Samus said, all the dominoes fell in to place.
"After that happened, I sent out the the Baby's Cry in order to get help from the Federation and expose the Ringleader's in exchange for protection." Madeline said before Samus knelt down in front of her and made her helmet go away.
"Madeline. You have my word that you and your daughter will be protected." Samus said, allowing the other woman to see the truth in her eyes.
"Thank you you, Samus." Madeline said as the Bounty Hunter helped her up and the group began to leave the the area.
Elsewhere in deep space troop transporter was on a path which was taking it towards the Bottle Ship, not noticing a shadow looming over it.
