After both had woken up in Bell´s bed, they had left the Mansion after breakfast, the city had calmed down but they had to discuss now what would follow this attack. Groups of adventurers patrolled through the city, but not one of the Ganesha Familia.
The Ganesha Familia and parts of Loki´s guarded the holes in the gates and the wall. The Miasma was gone but a sour smell was still in the air, and many people looked up to the dark clouds above the city and the land around Orario. It was like a cloud plate and it looked more like smoke than clouds, present since the monsters had dissolved to ash.
Bell looked at Ais from the side. "Was it like this in the dark times too?"
She nodded. "Pretty similar."

"So Ais, what do you say?"
"Hmm...hmm...I can move well enough...Bell, what do you think?"
"You look...gorgeous."
He honestly couldn´t take his eyes from Ais, she was beyond beautiful, no matter what she wore...but in this outfit even more.
When they cuddled, Bell loved to caress her body, he didn´t got tired of telling her how beautiful she was.
And her skin felt so smooth under his fingers, he could have sworn even more over the last year. Both thought it was just because Ais´ body was maturing, but it was thanks to her spirit blood that she became more and more beautiful. Since Ais became slowly a young adult, she looked more and more like her mother. Bell couldn´t help but notice, that some body parts of her especially matured...so much that she had to get a new chestplate and changed her outfit in general.
In the past her usual outfit was fine for Ais and she didn´t minded it, but ever since she got together with Bell and their relationship had taken the next step, Ais only wanted Bell to be the only man to see her skin.
Due to the fight yesterday, her clothes were still a mess, so Ais tried her new outfit for the first time. What was special about her new outfit, she had chosen it together with Bell. Instead of her long boots that reached over her knees, Ais used shorter boots now, stopping below her knees, but with the same heel.
At next came blue pants that she tugged into the boots at the bottom. Her upper body was covered by a wide, white shirt with wide sleeves. It was not a real shirt, made of cloth but actually like a jacket, closed to be in a far eastern style. Ais would use the right part directly on her body, then the left over the right and closed it with a belt around her waist, with pouches attached on the back when she would go into the dungeon. The jacket was long enough to cover her butt, that was important for her since it reminded her for one part about her old dress. And for the other, to move around well enough, the pants had to be skin tight, and only one person was allowed to see her behind in skin tight pants. She even got new, blue gloves from Bell as a gift when they had their 7 months anniversary, but they didn´t worked with her outfit before...both celebrated every month until the first year...a sweet sight for everyone that knew them.
The outfit let her look more mature and it also covered the outline of her chest better, the bottom part of her jacket also covered her butt...a fact that let Loki weep bloody tears. And now that she showed it to her Familia, they reacted in various ways.
"Ms. Ais, you look so mature now!" Lefiya was amazed.
"Ais, it looks really good." Riveria smiled, happy that Ais covered so much skin.
"Can you move around well enough in so much cloth?" Tiona looked confused.
"A-A-A-Ais-tan...why...whyyyyy?!" Loki cried bloody tears and dropped to her knees.
"Hm?" Ais turned around so that they could see the full outfit, her back was now fully covered too.
In the dungeon there would be slight changes, because of her armor.
"Why covering everything?! You look so stunning! I can´t even see your marvelous thighs anymore!"
Ais blushed and glanced shyly to Bell. "Ahm...I mean...only...Bell...should be allowed...to see..."
Seeing her blushing innocently and fidgeting like that let them nearly get a heart attack. After all her mother and Riveria had told Ais that only their beloved was allowed to see her true self. Ais didn´t knew that Aria meant something else than Riveria, but she was happy with her new outfit, especially since it was chosen with Bell.
They even got an "official" confirmation that Ais matured more. Since non of her children got hurt badly, Anakity and Raul even got praised by many citizens for saving them, Loki was in a good mood this morning, although she was still concerned. Before Ais tried out her new outfit, Loki had asked her to follow her, to update her status again.
Hestia had done the same for Bell in the morning, all of his stats were nearing the 999 mark. Updating wasn´t just something gods did for fun, since they didn´t knew if more monsters would attack Orario, the children needed to be as strong as possible.
"My cuuute little Ais! Let´s update your status!"
But Loki was Loki...in the moment her door closed she hugged Ais from behind...and grabbed something with her hands that only Bell was allowed to touch.
Woah...Kyau!
Seconds later, Loki saw stars twirling around her head and had a big bump on her head.
"Loki, please be more serious or I´ll hit you." Ais clenched her fist.
"Uuu...you already hit me..."
Loki whimpered while she sat down on her bed, Ais took off her shirt and covered her front with it. During the update of Ais´ status, Loki behaved normally...even when her eyes got bigger and bigger.
"Ais...here."
Ais had put on her shirt again and looked at the paper that Loki showed her. .

It wasn´t a new skill, abilites like that just appeared for an adventurer, but Ais was shocked by her status. Just during the last day, all of her stats had risen by over eigthy points!

"Hehe..." Loki gently hugged Ais from behind, this time not touching anything improper. "Your bunny really is good for you, my cute, little Ais."
"What does "Combination possible" mean?"
"That I don´t know, there is no description."
Ais smiled happily and nodded, her love for Bell only rose when she read the part about the fated partner. Then she looked confused when she saw a small arrow at the bottom right part of the sheet that was pointed right, so she turned the paper around.

The sheet in Ais´ hand was crumpled up when Ais turned her face to Loki.
The goddess trembled back in fear. "K-Kyun..."
Again Loki saw stars around her head, this time with numerous bumps on her head.
"A-Aish..tan..I´m...a god...you know..."
"That´s why you receive divine punishment! Only Bell is allowed to touch and know that!"
"It hurtsh! It hurtsh!"
Ais didn´t wanted to hurt Loki too badly, so she used the Iron Lock that Riveria had shown her.

Loki´s siliness was sometimes a blessing for her children, it helped them to calm down a bit. She cheered them up in her own way, making fun with them and other things. Loki even got an idea after the last day and called Anakity and Raul to her room, offering them a shared room if they wanted. Both had fidgeted and blushed, not able to answer.
"Ah c´mon you two, everyone knows you two are a thing by now."
Both looked shocked...they really thought nobody had noticed it...but they agreed. Loki insisted on hanging a small sign on their door, "Raul´s and Aki´s love nest".

After Ais was statisfied with her new outfit, Bell accompanied her to the meeting room of the Familia. Loki and the high leveled adventurers would be present, down to level four, for the whole Familia there wasn´t enough room.
The lead would take Finn like most of the times, he was already present and sorted his papers, Tione was also there and poured some tea for Finn...she was really soft when it came to him. One by one the members came into the meeting room, most of them kept standing in a semicircle. Bell noticed that Raul stood near to Finn and Lefiya close to Riveria, he was once told that these two would be the successors to the leaders one day. After he got to know the Loki Familia better, Bell was surprised that it wasn´t Alicia, since Lefiya was pretty young.
But Riveria had an eye for people and he was told that Lefiya was by far the stronger mage than Alicia, it was only her personality and uncertainty that held Lefiya back. Something that Riveria was working on with Lefiya, not only because she would be her successor...but due to maternal instinct.
"Everyone, thank you for coming this early in the morning."
Finn didn´t smiled, he looked very serious, and some of the people present looked still a bit tired. Especially Anakity, Raul and Lefiya, the events yesterday shook them. The couple had hold each other for a long time last night, thankful that the other was save. And Lefiya couldn´t help but get sick by the sight of dead people in the streets...it was thanks to her magic that many people were saved. But she couldn´t help but think she could have saved at least one more person. Riveria told her to see it the other way, that if she didn´t reacted the ways she did, more people would have died, that there was no way she could rescue everyone, or the grief would eat her up.
The one who helped Lefiya the most...was Bete.
"You did good...Viridis."
Slowly, these two were able to call each other by names. .
"Today we will discuss the attack yesterday, gather all the information we have and discuss how to proceed. Just in case someone doesn´t have all the informations, I will summarize what happened."
Finn took a deep breath.
"Yesterday morning a large horde of monsters attacked the city, all eight gates were shattered and in the north even a part of the wall. The monsters were all black and came in different kinds, which we will discuss soon, but first I would like to hear words from you two."
He looked at Ais and Bell at the end.
"Oh ah...ahm..."
Bell felt a slight touch against his fingers and Ais looked into his eyes, like she was saying "Let me", since she knew how to do a report. For a moment their fingers entangled, before Ais let go of him and got up, despite the situation, Riveria and Loki smiled when they saw how loving these two were.
"Bell and I were training on the wall in the north, the air felt weird and a strange wind came up. From the top of the walls we saw a white fog coming from the north, east to the Beol mountains, but more out of the direction of Dedine than Melistora. My instinct told me that something wasn´t right and we ran to the point of the walls that would be the closest.
The fog spread over the lands and the sounds died down, we saw the Demeter Familia running with their goddess towards the gate and it was sealed behind them. A while after the sounds stopped and a darkness was spreading in the fog. After the darkness had taken over the fog, we saw movements. Eventually the monsters started the attack, but not on the gates, the one who attacked the wall came first."
"What did it looked like?"
"First it was far bigger than all the other monsters we saw, then..."
Ais gave a good description.
"This...reminds me of something..." Finn looked grim.
Riveria and Gareth nodded.
Ais continued. "But there was difference from "that one"."
Bell looked confused, as well as most of the others.
"You gave me a good description and I read something about it, but these looked different."
"Ahm.." Bell raised a hand. "Do you know what these monsters were?"
Finn exchanged a look with the high executives.
"They had similarities to the offsprings of Behemoth."
Everyone stared in shock, every single adventurer knew the name Behemoth, one of the three great quests and also one of the three only known monsters in the titan class.
Finn continued. "But as I said, they looked different, some of the smaller ones looked more snake-like, and these scales..."
Bell raised his hand again.
"Bell, you don´t need to raise your hand every time." Riveria smiled about his politeness.
"I just didn´t wanted to interrupt, may I say something?"
"Of course."
"Now that you say it, I read about the offsprings of Behemoth, but many of these monsters didn´t looked like beast type monsters."
Some monsters fell into categories, and the Behemoth was called the "King of Beasts". Each of the three titan class monsters had "offsprings" which were called like this because they didn´t had a better name.
The one eyed black dragon was the "King of the skies", while the third one, the Leviathan was the "Queen of the seas". No one knew the exact gender of the monsters, but it seemed to be fitting, and the elegant, slender, yet deadly form of the Leviathan had looked more feminie than masculine.
What Bell said wasn´t taken lightly, he didn´t only knew much about heroes, but Bell was also a "Monster nerd", how Loki had called him. The last word was something the gods used, the mortals didn´t knew the exact meaning.
"Some of the monsters...their scales...they looked closer to sea monsters even though they had legs. But then there were the horns on the head of the leader, which looked different again. And these big ones with the chimneys on their bags...they looked more like turtles than ground monsters."
The group was in thoughts for a moment.
Raul raised his hand next, over time the Loki Familia would take over this gesture, Riveria was especially pleased, she liked order.
"Do you think they could be left overs from the offsprings? Maybe they changed over time? Or are something similar."
"Leftover offsprings...I don´t think so, the Behemoth is dead...that is certain. To understand what I meant, the offsprings acted like a swarm to protect their king or queen."
Now Lefiya raised her hand. "From what I have seen yesterday, the smaller ones protected the bigger creatures, they didn´t cared for their own lives when they did that. Especially when they protected the Miasma turtles."
After Lefiya used this name for the first time, it would stay and become the official name for these specific monsters later, adventurers were pragmatic.
Riveria also raised her hand after Lefiya had finished, it was a nice way to show someone wanted to say something.
"I can confirm what Lefiya said, when my group encountered a Miasma turtle and Ais and Bell arrived and helped us, the smaller ones were almost suicidal."
"How did you defeat it?"
"Frost magic. Bell and Ais protected me during that time."
Alicia was the next. "I also noticed that frost magic was highly effective against the monsters, they seemed to be weak to the cold."
Finn nodded and was in thoughts again. "Bell? Lefiya?"
""Yes?""
"You two use fire magic, did it have any effect?"
Bell looked at Lefiya and showed were with a short gesture of his hand that he would let her talk first...quite the gentleman.
"My fire spell did damage them, but not very much. My light based attackes were quite effective."
Now he answered.
"My fire magic only had a real effect if I would power it up. But I noticed that lightning magic worked quite fine and...especially this."
Bell slowly drew Hakugen and showed it to the others.
"A white knife? What is it made of."
"Ahm..." Bell blushed lightly...Welf had told him to not say it...it would be outrages. "I..."
Everyone looked at him, Ais said nothing, she knew the answer.
"Unicorn...horn."
"Whaaaat?! You used a unicorn horn for your knife?!" Lefiya was the loudest.
"I can´t believe you..." Alicia was also shocked.
"An item worth over eight million Valis...every mage or healer would love to get their hands on it...and you made a knife out of it..."
Finn waved with his hand. "Doesn´t matter what it should be used for, interesting is that it worked well. I guess it is save to asume, that the purity in the Knife is effective."
Gareth shrugged his shoulders. "The effects might be strong, but I still got them good with my axe. As did Aki and Raul, they didn´t used magic."

"Now about the most grim point, the Miasma. Bell, Ais, did the Alpha Monster used Miasma?"
Ais looked to Bell, she only had short contact with it.
"No, it smelled sour but I didn´t noticed Miasma on it. It was still very strong."
"And you two defeated it?"
Bell shook his head. "No, that was the Warlord."
"Hm...you two are probably the strongest level six adventurers right now and had problems, while Ottar defeated it..which isn´t surprising. At least their was only one of those."
Anakity raised her hand. "Captain, there was another."
"What? Tell me the details."
"When Raul and I moved through the city, we came along the pub, small creatures lied around and one that was much bigger than the rest, but a bit smaller than the one that Ms. Ais and Bell described."
"Who defeated it?"
"Apparently, Ms. Mia, the owner."
Bell smiled slightly. No surprise here.
"Which weapon did she used?"
Raul swallowed. "The waitresses told us...her bare hands."
Everyone went silent, that was something... Everyone knew that Mia was a "monster".
"Well that´s Mia for you!" Loki grinned widely.
Bete looked like he was sick, he had once made a scene in that pub...he somehow looked like he was sure it was luck he was still alive.
"Okay back to topic, the Miasma seemed to come mostly from the turtles and if at all only a little of the small ones. To say it bluntly, it is extremely dangerous, Tione got knocked out by it and I too felt sick."
Alicia raised her hand. "I saw collapsed adventurers in the city...and a few...dead...without open wounds."
Riveria nodded. "I could get rid of it with fire magic, but the smell alone let me feel weak and sick."
Bete looked uncomfortable. "Lena and I had the same problem, while she is weaker then me, the smell alone made me feel sick."
Finn nodded. "I talked to the other animal people of our Familia, everyone with fine nosed had a huge problem with it, some were poisoned but no one is in danger."
"Ahm.."
"Bell?"
"I...had no problems."
"Hm?"
Most of the others looked surprised.
Ais looked confused. "Me neither."
Riveria frowned. "Ais, Bell, are you telling us you had no problems with the Miasma at all? You didn´t even felt uncomfortable?"
"Well it did stink...but that was all." Ais looked at Bell.
"Yes, except for the bad smell and it blocking sight, there were no problems."
Finn exchanged a short look with Gareth, Riveria and Loki.
"We will talk about that later...for now let´s talk about what we will do. Lord Hermes has a member in his Familia that does a lot of mapping, for fun or for jobs. And this member has some sensitive tools in her room.
One of the devices measures vibrations and emits an alarm sound in the event that a ruin that she is exploring threatens to collapse. Yesterday evening right after the monsters dissolved to ash, the device gave off an alarm sound and the needle pointed to the north."
"That means?" Bete frowned.
"She explained to her god that this would mean a massive earthquake in the north, far away from Orario, she also told him that this happened before the attack but she just thought the device was broken."
"A new wave of monsters?"
"That is a possibility, lord Hermes has sent children of him to the north to investigate. They are faster and better equipped for this kind of work."
Bell raised his hand. "Did they said anything?"
"They aren´t back yet, but Andromeda went with them, lord Hermes trusts her the most."
Tione looked uneasy. "So I guess it is save to asume that something is on the way and will happen?"
"Most likely, but we don´t know what."
"Finn...why don´t we all go to the north then? Figure out whats wrong and defeat it?" Tiona always preffered simple solutions.
"Because we don´t know if the monsters are coming from the north, or what kind of monsters. The city must be protected."
Loki now cleared her throat. "I talked with Freya this morning and...hey don´t look like that! I know you don´t like her!...Anyway...her Familia will protect Orario like always. In case we have to move out, we will be the sword, they will be the shield.
A few of her children are really angry about what happened yesterday and...Freya is furious."
"Because that child of her died?"
"Yes, she told me the monsters took something that belonged to her and that they deserved death for that."
Most of the people present looked at each other and smiled wryly.
"So for now our strategy, we will prepare everything we can like we would for an Expedition. We will wait for more informations before we act. But in case we move out, not everyone will go with us...Bete, you will command the home front."
"What?!"
"Yes."
"Why me?!"
Loki nodded to Finn. "Because I want you to."
"Da hell?"
Finn showed a short...mean?...smile under his folded hands. "I need something that can think quick here. To be honest, Tiona you are a bit too hot headed...and you are too Tione. Except for that I need every mage with us, also Gareth and Ais."
"But-"
Loki said only one word next. "Lena."
It was enough to let Bete become silent, most of the others didn´t knew what the name meant. Bete got more and more open with his feelings towards Lena, he had pushed her back because he was afraid of losing her, like people in the past. During the fight he had protected her, and if he would stay in the city, he would continue to protect her.
But Loki and Finn had more reasons, Bete would be the commander of the Familia members that remained in the city, so he had to behave in some sort of way and got the experience what it meant to be responsible for people under his order.
Now Gareth spoke for the first time. "Also Bete, together with you every animal person of the Familia will remain here. If the monsters are there we expect them to use more Miasma, as you said yourself it attacks your senses more than the others."
Which basically meant...Bete was the weak one this time.
They discussed a few other things that would be needed for the preparations.
"Okay everyone has their jobs now, time to go to work."
Ais raised her hand. "Finn, you didn´t gave me and Bell a job."
"Correct, I would like you and Bell to wait for a moment here."
The others went up and left the room, closing the door behind them. Only Loki, Finn, Gareth, Riveria, Ais and Bell remained in the room.
"Ais, Bell, we need to ask you two something."
They nodded.
"Please don´t agree directly, especially you Bell, since you are not part of our Familia." Finn looked serious.
Bell nodded with a serious expression. "But my heart belongs to your Familia."
Ais smiled happily and got the faintest blush on her cheeks. Despite the serious situation, the other four were touched by his simple yet sweet words.
"Bell, if I´m informed correctly, you have poison resistance, right?"
"Ahm actually when my goddess updated my status this morning, it had changed to "Miasma Resistance"."
Miasma was the worst form of poison effects that a monster could produce or attack with, even adventurers with high poison resistance had problems with it...but Bell...
"May I ask what you did to get it?"
"I don´t know, I just went into the dungeon day and day again, like everyone else..."

"Kchoo!"
"Syr? Are you okay? Don´t get sick on me, okay?"
Ryu looked worried at her dearest friend.
Syr rubbed her nose and smiled. "Maybe someone is talking about me?"

"However it happened, it is a good thing."
Now Riveria looked really serious. "I guess we all know why it doesn´t affected Ais."
Everyone present knew about her blood, the legacy she carried within her.
Loki smiled widely. "You don´t know everything, Ri-Ri."
"Don´t call me that!"
It was the first time Bell saw Riveria agitated and flustered in an instant at the same time.
"Ais? Do you want to say it?"
Everyone except Loki looked really surprised when Ais got deep red and looked flustered, fidgeting shyly.
"Ais?" Bell looked worried.
"D-Don´t look at me like that...Bell you dummy..."
"Huh?"
She averted her face from him, but he felt a touch at his fingers. One by one the fingers of her right and his left hand entangled, but only the fingers, it was the natural reaction for him to her touch.
"Loki...updated my status today and..." She got even more red.
"I got...an ability...that I share...resistance...when I´m...*mumble mumble mumble*"
"Ais, please speak loud and clearly." Riveria frowned.
Ais only looked more abashed, to tell the others so openly about what was deep inside her heart...was really embarrassing.
Loki took pity on Ais. "When she is close to her "fated partner"."
The others didn´t said anything, Ais squealed slightly. It was one thing that they knew she loved Bell, but seeing him as her fated partner meant a depth of her love that not even most of the elves felt for their loved ones.
It meant...Bell was Ais´ everything...and like that she basically yelled it out into the world.
Riveria coughed to cover for the embarrassement. "A-Anyway, so it means when you are close to Bell, in cooperation with your natural resistance against wind based attacks...you are immune to the Miasma...just like Bell."
The hand of the young couple now entangled completely, Ais could only shyly return Bell´s love filled look. Both startled a bit when Gareth knocked loudely on the table.
"Please focus you two lovebirds, you can sink into each others eyes when we are done."
Both straightened up...but still held hands.
Finn looked serious again. "What I am going to ask you...we will need you two as our vanguard...in case we encounter more Miasma. It could come to a situation where you two have to fight alone...against whatever we will face."
This basically meant one thing...Bell´s and Ais´ lives would be in danger and it could be possible that no one would be able to help them. They looked into each others eyes, seeing love and determination. For a moment, Ais squeezed Bell´s hand gently and he returned it, both smiled.
"As long as I´m at Ais´ side, I fear nothing."
"I will fight, alongside Bell."
"Thank you, you two."

Darkness...deep darkness...no sound...nothing...just the feeling of pressure.
Cassandra didn´t knew where she was, she saw only darkness and felt pressure...she couldn´t breath.
And she felt...something...moving in the darkness.
A loud thunder filled her ears...like...from enormous...steps.
A loud rattle...
Then a roar so loud she felt she was going deaf.
And to make it worse...an eye opened in front of her...
A red eye...that was bigger than her upper body...
And another eye...
And another one...
More and more eyes opened...
Six...ten...eighteen...and...more...
A body moved int he darkness...no...not one body...many bodies...
The earth shook...
Darkness filled the sky...
And she felt...
Hunger.

With a loud gasp, Cassandra woke up from her nightmare, her night shirt was soaked with sweat...her poor bunny plushy squeezed.
"Hah...hah...hah...What..."
"Nnnn...Ca...ssandra?"
A body moved next to her.
"Daphne..."
"Nightmares again?"
"Mh..."
"C´mere."
Instead of waiting, Daphne pulled Cassandra back into the bed and hugged her, the bunny plushy got squeezed between their bodies. Those two had become really close over the time, they were really good friends, best friends...at least they still called it like that.
Both had a crush on Bell in the past, but he was taken.
"Daphne?"
"Mh?"
"I have a really bad feeling..."
Daphne had too much experience with Cassandra´s visions to still ignore them. But she was also the one of the two that was more grounded.
"You need your sleep, let us talk tomorrow, okay?"
"Mh.."
Cassandra blushed by the hug from Daphne...but it felt nice to be held like this.

Far away from Orario in the North, a group of adventurers passed the far east foothills of the Beorl mountains. One of them had a small tool in her hands, that made a sound...the earth in the north started to shake again.

Authors Note2: Some may dont liked the last chapters about the fight, or there just wasn´t something you could write about it, it was nearly pure action and very nasty. But it was meant to be nasty, still I want to say one thing. I said this story will be more grim than "Like a Fairy" but that doesn´t mean I will kill characters left and right.
Next chapter is for "Blood of Zeus" again, Riveria´s ark. Then "Blood of Zeus, Ero", about Nahza, then here again. The three chapters should be done in under a week since I´m on vacation.
