"What did you come here for?" Frieda suddenly heard from behind.
When she turned around, she could see an old person standing in front of her. He was dressed in a white attire, had a shoulder length hair and a lush beard. He seemed to be holding chains in his hands.
Only now did the young queen realize that she had shackles binding her arms, and this man was holding the chains that kept her in her place.
"Who are you?" The woman asked with apprehension.
The man in front of her turned to look towards the coordinate. It seemed as if he had spent a long time here, because he did not seem surprised one bit at the magnificent sight.
"It doesn't matter…" he slowly replied.
The chains, the old man standing in the paths, her intention to break the oath to renounce the war…
"You are Karl Fritz" she spoke in amazement "the first king of the walls…"
"And you are Frieda Reiss" he responded, still looking away from her "what did you come here for?"
The woman looked down. Her intentions weren't pure, nor were they noble. She had just allowed Grisha to kill her own family and she did all of that for herself.
"Freedom" Frieda said, trying to supress the sorrow she was feeling.
Upon that, the old king snorted.
"Freedom…" he sneered "freedom to destroy the world, I presume?"
It was not going to be that easy. Despite that, Frieda tried to put up a good front.
"It is up to us what we do with it" she explained, trying not to sound selfish "we are all our own humans…"
"You know that's a lie, don't you?"
The woman looked up, to see that Karl Fritz was clenching his fists on the chains.
"All we ever do is wreak havoc among the peaceful world" he spoke with accusatory eyes "tell me one thing that our people had done in order to make things better."
Even though she couldn't recall anything from the past, she had a few answers to that.
"I enriched the wastelands" Frieda started "I solved a crisis. I even prevented famine…"
"These are all great things" Karl interjected "but only to our own gain."
His answer made her quite angry. Every time that she had used her power, she used it to help those who were suffering. Who did he think he was?
"Our people have no idea" she said, "how can you blame them for something that our predecessors did?"
The man just tilted his head and looked at her with pity.
"Do you plan on playing god to the rest of your days?" He asked.
Somehow, it struck a nerve in Frieda. Sure, she was acting like she owned what little kingdom she had, but her intentions were mostly good.
"A peace for the cost of freedom is a lie" the young queen spoke.
"And so is freedom for the cost of peace."
Maybe, if she was a little younger, she would've listened to this man. However, Frieda was no longer the same person that preached to Grisha about importance of some weird ideals once. Now, she had her own idea of what was right.
"You've been here for how long" she started after a few moments "one hundred years? You must've seen it all… But all this time, you've been the greatest hypocrite…"
King Fritz raised his eyebrows at her words.
"Hypocrite…?"
"You've been taking away freedom from everyone…" Frieda continued "…and I believe it makes you the freest person out there…"
"Yes" the man spoke with anger "I had to become a god in order to protect the people of this world…"
"But not your people" the queen said, taking hold of the chains.
Seeing that she was preparing something, king Fritz took a firmer stance.
Suddenly, Frieda pulled on the chains, trying to rip them out of the man's hold. It turned however, that the king's strength was on another level, whatsoever.
"Pathetic" Karl spoke as he gripped the chains.
With one swift pull, Frieda was launched forward. Accompanied by a loud thud, she fell on the sand.
"I see that my teachings are getting obscure, these days" the man spoke again "when I'm done with you, you won't have enough of your own will to even do as much as piss by yourself…"
The young queen closed her eyes in sorrow. In that moment, she reminisced Grisha's words.
"…but if you can't, you will perish…"
Suddenly, she felt as if a fire was burning inside her. Once again, she took hold of her chains.
"Let's see what's stronger" she exclaimed as she pulled them one more time "the will to preserve peace, or the desire of freedom…"
Suddenly, strange figures started appearing around them, much to Karl Fritz's surprise. Some of them Frieda could recognize. There was Grisha Yeager, there was Eren Kruger, there were many more unknown people. Yet, all of them seemed familiar to her. Could it be…
"What is…" the king exclaimed in fear.
"Ever since our creation" the old doctor spoke as the figures started approaching Karl Fritz "we obeyed no one… It's been to resist the self-righteousness of the king…"
The shifters of the past grabbed her progenitor and held him in place.
"We are the attack titan" Grisha spoke.
This was her moment. Frieda stood up from the ground and walked over to the first king of the walls.
"You will regret it…" Karl Fritz sputtered out, trying to knock away the shifters holding him in place.
"Only I will be the judge of that" the queen said as she made a noose from the chains around the man's neck.
And so, she pulled them like her life was depending on it. This man was long gone but despite that, he could still take away her freedom.
The moment she saw that his eyes no longer held a glint, she felt complete. The lifeless body fell to the ground and soon after, her shackles started dissipating.
As Frieda looked over the faces of the past attack titan shifters, she could only see smiles of content.
"Thank you" the dark-haired female said with gratitude "for giving me my freedom back."
"Don't disappoint us" Eren Kruger spoke, as everything around her went blank.
All of a sudden, she was back in the Reiss chapel.
Yet, something felt different. Like she could literally do anything she wanted.
"Freedom…" Frieda spoke happily as she smiled, while extending her arms.
