I know this is short. When the chapter is very short like this one, I'll update in less than a week.

As she grew up, Rose turned out to be a perfect copy of her birth mother, except she had her father's eyes (but thankfully not his eyesight). Though she didn't know it, she truly believed that the woman who had raised her was her birth mother and that her father had been killed by Death Eaters a while back, which was the reason they moved so often.

Rose looking so much like Lilly Evans Potter was something her adoptive mother had never thought about and instead of loving the child she had stolen from the man she loved so much, she grew to hate her and used the child for chores around the house whenever she wasn't in school. She went as far as calling the girl names linked to her red hair, which was the most obvious trait she had from her birth mother and was the reason she grew to hate her so much. Rose Lilly was often called 'carrots' or 'ginger' or sometimes even meaner words by the woman supposed to be her mother.

This child was supposed to help her get over her rejection, she was supposed to help her play pretend that, somehow, James had chosen her but the fact that she looked so much like Lilly Evans-Potter made it almost impossible. She couldn't stand to look at the girl she had taken without wanting to hit her or humiliate her.

She thought she had taken James's daughter but she soon came to realize that she had taken the daughter of the woman she hated: Lilly.

Rose Lilly went to Beaubaton, in France, for the first 2 years of her magical training but then her mother got mad that she enjoyed herself and was doing so well and forced her to change school and go to Durmstrang, where everything was harder, more strict.

Of course they were happy to have her since she was a great student, first of her year since day 1 of school, but this was a harder school than Beaubaton and though Rose was still top of her classes, she had a harder time being peaceful with everyone. She often fought with the other students and had detention at least twice a month. Apparently, she was developing a fiery temper that didn't please everyone. She blamed it on her red hair. She had read that girls with red hair often had such tempers.

Rose didn't know why her mother hated her so much, she had never done anything bad but her mother never seemed to find it in her to be happy and proud. She always found something to complain about and couldn't even bring herself to be happy when her daughter did something other children would be rewarded for.

The only comfort Rose found was in her dreams, when she saw Harry.

She didn't know why they could see and talk to each other but they could and she enjoyed their discussions. She'd tell him all about her day and he'd tell her all about his, they had no secret from each other. Rose was convinced that he was just a fragment of her imagination, that there was no way the real Happy Potter would talk to her but she still loved to hear the tales of his adventures in Hogwarts.

Rose never told her mother about her dreams, she felt that the woman wouldn't like it and she was in trouble often enough as it was, without doing anything special, without speaking about Harry Potter visiting her in her dreams. Seeing Harry made her happy and her mother took away anything that made her happy, like when she burned her Anne of Green Gables book because reading it made her happy, therefore, her dreams had to remain a complete secret.

.

It was Rose Lilly's fourth year of magic school and the oldest and brightest student had left to go to Hogwarts for the Tri-wizard tournament. Unfortunately, most of the students she got along with the best were among the ones who left and this year promised to be a very lonely one for her, though she knew that she'd make it, she always did.

She'd simply have to concentrate on her classes, which had never been a problem for her since she was always top of her class. She'd simply concentrate a bit more on her hobby: the study of Ancient Magic. She'd read, she'd learn and eventually, her friends would be back and she'll realize that time had passed.

What did you think of it?

I just finished chapter 37 and there's still plenty to come.
